Aoud Lavender

This perfume is amazing. Realistic lavender meets a smoldering white hot heat. Typical to Montale this fragrance lasts forever and has massive throw. I feel that if you don't like lavender then there's just no way you will like this one, although I could see it possibly changing someone's mind about the note, it does grow on you. I can understand how someone could think this smells cheap as it is very focused on one singular note, but that note to my nose is of high quality and quite natural smelling. Oud lovers might reconsider this one, I find the oud to be a supporting note not unlike the rest of the note listing. A true noble lavender perfume at it's finest. It can be had cheaply (80usd) and at that price I think the price is perfect. If you are a lavender enjoyer you should not be dissapointed.

I don’t understand how a beauty like this can be so underrated and scored low. Maybe because of the levander as a main note what is so polarizing here. I think it is a beautifully blended fragrance with the perfect proportions of the notes. The opening is very strong in levander but it calms down with time although existing during the whole trip. The dry down is fantastic mix of levander, citrus, oud, amber and some patchouli. It is fresh elegant clean and warm at the same time. I think it is unisex maybe tending a bit to the masculine side. Suits the warmer weather the best. Performance is great. It is a shame that it is officially not released in Europe.

It starts from the good enough lavander note (intensive, more flowery than herbal as I prefer). But then it goes into oud and saffron base almost like in Oud Rose Purple. As I have the last one, I can say, that it's heavy enough base. Think twice! Because not everyone around you will understand it, based on my experience. Interesting, loud, but I wish that it would stay more lavandery floral.

I dug up whatever was left from my very old sample. It' s best aoud there is to me ,unfortunately full bottle is nowhere to be found. :(

what an excellent perfume, excellent quality and many many compliments !

Bitter saffron and medicinal, slightly acrid oud combo with distinct, yet fleeting a bit too fast to my liking, dry lavender. Very calming and distancing in general impression. Zero sweetness, just dry, aromatic woodiness that makes my nostrils and mouth dry from the imaginary dust that this scent almost literally evokes. I can easily imagine sawdust and wood slivers all around me while wearing Lavender Aoud. This is no usual oriental floral category, but oriental woody at its core. But for a pleasant lavender addition, it reminds me of Korres Saffron Amber Agarwood Cardamom (AL being thicker and, paradoxically, seemingly more natural) and Reminiscence Oud (AL being less thick in texture and less flowery). All in all, it is a perfect heavy loaded oud scent for those tired of rose sitting on the back of many oud combos offered by Montale & Co. Really potent stuff, a little goes a long way and again Montale has introduced something of its legendary sillage and lasting. I like it, as a hardcore oud fan, even though I would prefer a longer lasting lavender note in it!

Tested recently. There are two ways to view this fragrance, if you compared with old montale masterpieces like black aoud, aoud lime, dark, etc. Then, is a clearly looser. But if you compared with new montales, with some fresh, some oud, florals, always nice and inoffensive, like aoud forest, wild aoud, aoud&pine, aoud melody etc. It could be a winner. Now the fragrance; starts with a semi-bitter floral accord with reminiscence to licorice. Then licorice and bitter goes off, and starts the real floral sweet creamy non aoud accord like in many friendly montales, with a little soft lemony sandalwood in the background. It could be perfectly a flanker of montale aoud forest but with one touch of lavender, that improves the final result. Better dry down, with the creamy floral (lavender-saffron) touch, and better long-lasting. There is an endearing aspect that bring me memories of a fabric softener(in a good way, nothing harsh) or the smell of some people clothes. Maybe the minimal touch of powdery sandalwood helps to that. I like this one. Ill give a 6,5/7 out a 10.

I love lavender in all its iterations, but this is probably my least favorite of the many many lavenders I have tried. This is very herbal on me, astringent, bracing, acrid and almost burning, nose-singeing. The "synth-oud" definitely enables that sort of bitter quality. As much as I love lavender, this is just too much of a sharp "house cleaning product." It really smells as if it would kill germs, just stop them dead in their tracks. After a few hours it does fade out a bit and the flowers and amber come to the fore, and then it's considerably more pleasant, but I don't want to have to wait that long and there are more gorgeous lavenders out there. Scents are unisex in my mind, and I tend to be drawn towards ones labeled as such or not at all, but I think men (I'm thinking the manly men stereotype) could pull this off easily. The "powder flower" is much less evident here than in many other scents marketed toward men. I don't even really get that. While this isn't a scrubber, it is not FB worthy either,

Not your "typical" lavender ....but it is there... This one I found to be confusing...especially in the beginning stage. I got a sharp-ish herbal lavender....then woodsy powdery vibes. Then a little "sourness" ...???....Dill ??......almost decided WTF did I blind buy..???!!!. As the scent developed on my skin....with the sour vibe past...I really started to enjoy this scent. I do not really pick up the floral aspects of this, but there is saffron/oud, tho very moderate IMO. Patchouli is the "dry" type, also IMO. And the citrus...???....not really pronounced,just blended in for balance. Musk and amber ...yes....more in the dry down...IMO. The key here is to make it past the weird opening....and let the notes go thru their stages....and the end result is rather good. Performance....is BAM ! at first....then the notes smooth out/change...and then I got moderate performance. This is a "unique" scent....but just not remarkable.

Aoud Lavender isn’t your cozy bedtime lavender. It’s sharp, herbal, and a little weird at first (someone said dill, and I kinda get it). But give it a chance, and it smooths out into a warm, powdery oud scent with hints of spice and musk. It’s a journey, not love at first sniff, but if you like your lavender loud and a bit dramatic, this one might just win you over.

My review is based on a sample from LuckyScent. When it first goes on, it smells like a nice, unisex lavender - some where along the line of Invasion Barbare. Then, with the dry down, the fragrances changes into a very feminine lavender. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice lavender but far too feminine for my taste.

This perfumes opens with a realistic herbal lavender that quickly disappears and then a typical harsh Montale musk-oud base comes out and dominates through the end. If you’re looking for a lavender-centric fragrance, unfortunately you won’t find it here! I may end up layering Aoud Lavender with a single note lavender fragrances such as Lavender by Demeter or even just lavender essential oil. Masculine leaning and a world away from Gris Clair by Serge Lutens. 6 out of 10

My experience with Montale has not been positive. From a perfumery perspective, they are completely average. However, they try to sell their products under niche brands by adding complex scents. The combination of the scents are often poorly done; hence, some of their fragrances can be offensive. Save the money and buy a designer brand, or spend a little bit more and get a high quality niche brand.

This is a dusty oud accompanied by an oppressive, synthetic lavender. I feel like someone is smothering me with a chloroform rag. I usually like Montales, but this one is a no-go.

All I smell is oud incense in multiple wearings of a luckyscent sample. Is my nose broken? The other notes all seem like a lie.

Just a very average scent... and very feminine...nowhere near as good as some of the older classic Montale.

An interesting scent that reminds me a lot of Mancera Aoud Vanille (the somewhat medicinal oud note in this is exactly the same as in Aoud Vanille) but with lavender and oud instead of vanilla and oud as in Aoud Vanille. However, the lavender in this only lasts for the opening and then dries down to a sort of oud and musky amber type drydown very quickly. Lavender in this smells realistically like lavender essential oil, so it's a herbal type - which I actually enjoy very much. I wish the lavender lasted throughout the drydown but oh well. Also it reminds me a bit of Xerjoff Alexandria II, and Mancera Black Gold as they are also lavender-oud combos (though both are different from this). 4/5

I love this one! At first it's like you are standing right in the lavender field, not for long. Not sweet lavender, a bit bitter herbal, balsamic with bergamot and all. But soon on skin it's like a bark of lavender tree if it was one existing, not flowery at all. In the end, like on 2nd day it could be some lavender vanilla scent but still not very sweet. I can't say its for all lavender lovers, I loved the scent on my second bottle! First one was too much for long time, it was waiting like 6 moths for me to like it. Don't judge very quickly!

Lavender Aoud starts out with a lovely blast of lavender, followed shortly after by an aromatic note, kind of like cardamon. The lavender is somewhat fleeting, which is too bad because I really liked the lavender. Not much oud here at first but after about an hour I start to notice the woodsy side getting stronger and the amber raises it's little head. Some powder with this but so far not tooo much. Drydown is sort of reminiscent of a Nasomato, with a little oud amber. Overall I like this quite a bit, the drydown is quite nice.

Buckeye, what are you talking about! Montale uses high quality and natural ingredients in his perfumes. There is nothing average about his perfumes and the ones I have are worth every cent! They are sold here in the best niche perfumeries and that says enough. It looks clear to me that you can't like all the 115 perfumes that he has made, thats impossible and depents on what you like in A perfume. You clearly have nothing with Montale, thats oké but your critics are misplaced imo!
