Aoud Melody

I can see the comparisons to MFK Oud, a scent which I am inexplicably in love with. Seriously I'm not even sure I like the smell but I find it additive it's the oddest thing. Anyway...I find Aoud Melody maybe slightly more complex and in truth quite different to MFK Aoud which just seems like similar notes but from different sources making for a more bitter medicinal delivery. This scent is one of the lighter, brighter aouds from Montale, it has playful top notes sing like...well like a Melody. Somehow this fragrance evoked the colour pink. Maybe it's the combination of rose and jasmine that does it? Again they are subtle and by no means big players but this opening makes me think this is a perfume better suited to a lady. Perhaps it's that 'pink' feel, exotically floral with a beautiful clear rose and heady incense. This juice is uplifting. I think the elemi which is a lighter almost plastic resin smell and the waxy exotic addition of ylang ylang. Sandalwood is in the base for sure another note which can air on the fresh/spicy side then become creamier later on. (which it does here and similarly with saffron and elemi) This is for certain a perfume in which these notes in peticular develop in the drydown. The fragrance has the kind of longevity you would expect from Montale but is all together a very subtle affair and make no mistake the drydown smells SO GOOD! I have to say I fell in love wit AM after several hours...it became very low in the 8-10 hour mark but the smell that just clung to my skin was pure labdanum, amber and sandalwood magic! I'm tempted to get this fragrance, I really am. There's quite a few perfumes I want with stark (and a bit off putting) openings but great drydowns that I want but can't say are a priority.

Montale fragrances, particularly their ouds, are known for stellar longevity and sillage. So is this a Montale? Both longevity and sillage are quite disappointing but you do get a lovely, warm and kind fragrance. I love the mix of its key elemi and amber notes, while the safron, oud and musk are not as prominent as the pyramid suggests. Theres's a hint of bitterness, that I can't place that adds intrigue too. This is great fragrance for fragrance lovers that either live or work around people who are not fragrance lovers. It's interesting enough to keep you amused throughout the day (unlike a typical blue bottle freshy) while still being pleasant and inoffensive to those around you. It works well for the colder days of the year and some late summer nights too.

I've had this for about a month now.... and contrary to popular opinion I love it!! It's my first encounter with a montale fragrance, and it was also a blind buy so it was pretty risky. Its got that plasticky accord i've heard is ever so present in all of montale. But it actually works. It is kind of an explosion of a fragrance, but it isn't all that long lasting. anyways at this point i'm rambling, but it was worth the money!

Winter blind buy, Aoud Melody has been languishing unloved in the back of my perfume wardrobe for a couple of years due to testing in the wrong season. My son sprayed it on a sweltering humid day, and it’s giving me the feeling of standing next to a waterfall in the tropics *real* red delicious apple is being cut close by. Melody is better from several inches away, burying your nose in it doesn’t show it off

This is my favorite out of Montale's Aoud lineup. The scent is unique, however as mentioned by other reviewers, it is very smooth and pleasant. I wouldn't have to worry about who I will be around when wearing this, unlike some of the other Aoud releases. Quality is excellent, as expected from Montale. Longevity and Projection are outstanding.

I tested this fragrance against 4 other Montale’s including Red Vetyver and Intense Cafe with 5 random people just walking by the store. At least on my skin they all picked Aoud Melody saying it's a wonderful fragrance. It's still masculine enough for a man to wear. A must try if you can find it.

Its in the same vein as MFK Oud. But Aoud melody has a pronounced leather note. I get better longevity and projection from Aoud Melody. MFK is a tad sweeter. All in all Aoud Melody is a great fragrance. 5/5

My first ever review so please make the necessary allowances. My olfactory knowledge isn't good enough to identify individual notes, unless they are commonplace and obvious, so I'll just give an honest opinion and leave the detailed stuff to the experts. In MY opinion this smells nothing like Mancera The Aoud, as that one is rose-predominant and I don't get any such rose with Aoud Melody. It's closer to Mancera Sand Aoud but they're not alike really. It's most similar to MFK Oud, with the common notes of Saffron and Elemi. However, Aoud Melody is more medicinal and harsh on first blast and the talked-about "creaminess" comes later, whereas the MFK is sublimely smooth from the start to the finish. Not Montale's strongest in terms of projection or longevity but still a hitter. The Aoud (or Oud) is more muted than in others like Black Aoud, Royal Aoud or Aoud Musk, but it's there and I like it. Very nice scent that needs an hour or two to settle to its best impression. The only reason I can comment on the comparisons is that I have all the above in FBs. Quick edit: for those looking for potential purchasing guidance, I agree 100% with michael.j above - don't buy Aoud Melody AND Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud. Choose one or the other: the MFK scent is generally better quality and smoother, but the Montale projects more and lasts longer. Also, the Montale is half the price but if money is no object that's irrelevant

Ohhh yes, I love this frag. (Here I go again with my mantra that, for me, fragrance should not be hard work. It should be a pleasure, not a challenge. I don't want to have to struggle with a frag. in order to understand it, like a difficult person, or art that I don't "get".) Having said all that, the strangest thing happened when I first applied this frag. Nothing, absolutely nothing. I had to go to full daylight to make sure something had gone on to my wrist. I couldn't smell anything. Regardless of whether I like or dislike a scent, I have always been able to smell something at the beginning. Melody took about 10 minutes before I got anything. Now I cannot stop smelling my wrist. What can I smell? I don't know what to call the notes. I am sure all the listed notes are in there somewhere but with this frag, I can only describe by a feeling or a mood.... a warm blanket in winter. A cat nuzzling up against my neck. Someone I love, holding my hand. Like something sedative, Melody calms and comforts me. I still have four more Montale's to test. I am going to have a quite a struggle if I like them all as much as this one. UPDATE: many other frags out there that I like better so I will live without this in my fragrance wardrobe.

This is about 85% similar to MFK's original Oud, with the 15% difference in this one being a more melted plastic odor on top and a sweet amber and saffron accord on the bottom. The middle drops out pretty fast on this one whereas in the MFK the components in the middle are much more stable. Melody gets too sweet too fast, losing its balance early on. If I didn't already have the MFK, I'd seriously consider getting this one given how much less expensive it is than the MFK. One certainly doesn't need both. In the end, however, I'm glad I have the MFK because it does seem more carefully executed and ages on the skin much better.

Oh, boy... It starts with a big medicinal/plastic blast. As in most cases with Montale fragrances, at first you can't tell what are you smelling because it's too much to handle. Then it settles down, becoming very sweet, I can smell some orange (even though it's not one of the notes) but a syrupy one. The sandalwood, cloves and leather are magnificent. Usually this notes combined are quite strong, but in here they are an absolute delight. Even though the scent is sweet, it doesn't project that much, it stay close to skin, as if it was the natural, warm and sexy scent of your own skin.

This is ADDICTIVE. It was slightly off-putting the first time I smelled it. It's been more-ish ever since. In fact, the first time I wore it, I buried my nose in the crook of my elbow for a solid half hour. I don't know oud or elemi or saffron well enough to say what I'm smelling. I just know it's unusual but gorgeous. EDIT: It also works well in hot weather when Santal Wood is too sweet. It's just bitter enough to be refreshing.

This scent is right up my street for winter weather. Spicy, sweet, Aoud, balsamic, a bit leathery...very tasty. Very similar to Manceras with Aoud (Aoud Sandroses, Black Intensive Aoud.) Refined, elegant, high-quality ingredients. Extremely versatile in both summer and winter. The freshness of Ylang-Ylang is reinforced by the warm notes of Cloves. Interesting.

bought this because it was recommended by fragrantica as similar to oud by mfk. well there is a note here that is similar to oud mkf however overall the scent is underwhelming and it has a totally different vibe. it kinda reminds of how hair salons back in the old days smell and also a note from old people who goes to church. the comment from user 4jordan33 seems to match this experience. oud by mfk is this rich very well blended smooth elegant scent, this oud melody is just mehh. perhaps it can be layerd with other perfumes we will see. update : 02/2026 i was cleaning my fragrance when i saw this bottle again and told my partner that i felt so bad purchasing this. my partner wanted to smell it and after spraying my partner said it smells very nice. it made me curious so i sprayed it on my skin and tried to smell it on the air and oh my what a beautiful scent. indeed it shares more now the vibe of MFK OUD. i dont know what happened back then perphaps i judged it too soon? or does it need to macerate i have no idea. they say there are plenty of many reasons why a fragrance might not smell nice immediately, could be the shaking during transport, or perhaps the exposure to the sun, or perhaps the lack of air yada yada. always give a fragrance sometime and perhaps when you smell it again it will suprise you.

It's really ironic to me that this is called Aoud Melody because it's far from melodious. I'm so saddened by this blind purchase as Montale's Roses Musk is one of my all-time favorite scents. I've also smelled some of their other ouds and just assumed I would love this. The opening is pure acetone and it doesn't get much better from there. Over time this mellows slightly to a very screechy somewhat powdery scent. I get nothing masculine or leathery. This one also doesn't seem to have the monster sillage Montale is known for. I'm flummoxed.

Ordered this by mistake as the bottle is identical to Honey Aoud, lol. The Aoud Melody is definitely 100% a feminine scent. On skin, I get heavy heavy rose from beginning to end. It is long lasting (8+ hours) with decent sillage (1-3 foot radius). Regarding the scent, it’s definitely not for me, I wouldn’t like it on my girlfriend, and I wouldn’t recommend it for my mother. I would say this would be a good gift for your grandmother.

Fragrance -Aoud Melody Montale Bottle from - 2016 Aoud Melody is a nice,woody,spicy,resinous and surprisingly very refreshing and at the same time warm fragrance.It's well-blended scent(especially resins with pleasant oud,rose and leather),and i like him.Reminds me a little bit of New York Amber by Bond No 9 in the opening and Oud by Maison Francis Kurkdjian in the middle. Longevity - 8/10(8+hours) Silage/Projection - 7/10(nice projection for the first 2-3 hours) Weather - for more or less any time of year Age - 22+ Compliments - 8/10 Scent - 8/10 Main notes according to me - oud,rose,elemi resin,saffron,leather,ylang-ylang. The drydown is nice and i get some woodiness,amber and musk. Emotions -elegant,pleasant,warm,seductive,fun. Occasion -perfect for more or less any ocasion and any time of year.I personally wouldn't wear this in really hot summer days. Could be a nice signature scent.

I am very surprised that this is one of the Montale Aoud fragrances I can tolerate. Just to mention I really only love Red Aoud, White Aoud and Aoud Roses Petals and had been very disappointed by many of Montales releases in recent years. On me this fragrance tilts a smidge more to the feminine side and it may be because of the beautiful floral notes incorporated in this creation. The Aoud "Oud " is smooth, not harsh or dirty at all. I would consider it unisex, but should say that each skin chemistry will probably react a little different with this. On me its a beautiful leathery floral with a touch of smooth oud. I am also happy to report even though rose is in the notes its not outstanding on its own, its well blended with the other floral notes. Definitely a creamy smooth fragrance on me.

Just received this blind buy today, and I'm quite disappointed. However, I'm not disappointed in the scent, just in how it is on my skin in particular. I usually love all unisex fragrances more than I do strictly female, but this one pulls so far to the masculine side, I'm not sure I can do it. It's a great scent, but it smells like a sexy put together man should be wearing it. I don't know, I'm still trying it, but more than likely I'll be swapping. This is one smooth, elegant and extremely pleasant scent, one of the best 'understated' scents in montale's aoud line-up. It may not wow you with a huge punch of oud or be big bold and in your face. This is a buttery soft scent with no hard edges, a tropical floral topnote, smooth light resins,clean musk, a dash of rose, hints of spice and a touch of sweet oud in the base. Great for both men and women and versatile enough to wear in any season or weather. Loving this one already and may snag a fb. Get your nose on this one!!

The best oud fragrance from montale/mancera. Oud rose with sweet florals and saffron. Very beautiful and ticks all the marks if you love this genre. It has vibes from MFK Oud but it is different, although aoud melody is less natural and of lower quality compared to MFK, yet it is deeper, sweeter and much stronger. This is a beast fragrance. Just one to two sprays or it will choke you.

This is more masculine than feminine to me. My skin doesn't tolerate oud very good and always makes it dominating ingredient even if fragrance contains only traces of it. Unfortunately here agarwood smells on me like piece of wet leather. I like it but i'd prefer to smell it on my bf rather on myself. Longevity and sillage outstanding.

The leather in the opening overwhelms all the other scents; however, it gets better! Once the leather dies down all the creamy beauty of rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang comes out and I quite enjoy it.
