Aoud Safran

OUDMAZING? [short review] Montale has many oud fragrances to choose from. I was particularly picky when I bought this perfume. At the time, I wanted to take 3 or 4 cans of "Montale Aoud" with me, but I decided to do an exhaustive test and choose just one fragrance to buy. It's Oudmazing It's Saffronmazing It's Rosemazing This is probably the best wearable Oud fragrance by Montale, at least for my taste. I just recently tried the real "Montale Oudmazing". It is just too fruity and sweet for me. I do like a bit of rose and saffron in my oud in the way it is proposed by Aoud Safran. I also like this type of Oriental scent to last forever and the Aoud Safron performance is phenomenal! As a wearable oud fragrance, this Montale surpasses the two Oud fragrances that I used as a reference for Montale's "Aoud" line of perfumes: Dark Aoud and Black Aoud. This perfume... Is strong. It's linear. It's tamed. It's (very) pleasant. It's a head-turner. It's addictive. It's a bit dark. It's unisex. Forget about the intrusive ouds that smell like a bedouin tent camp in the desert. This fragrance smells like a cool oasis under the moonlight. The eastern part of heaven must smell like the dry-down of this perfume. It is Included in the list of the 10 commandments for you to achieve before your smell sense goes bananas: ..., Test Montale's Aoud Saffron ... Comment: One should never buy a Montale without testing it first. Of course this also applies to Aoud Safran. If you never tried it I may as well inform you that it shows some similarities with Eternal Oud By Kilian, in a lesser degree, with the discontinued (but discontinued) Saffron Rose Absolute by Perry Ellis Music: Oasis - "Wonderwall"

Very similar to Montale Attar indeed, just a bit rounder and warmer. Aoud Safran also has this cold, mentholated feel, but it is less "sharp" so to speak. I mainly feel fresh roses, sandalwood, a touch of oud and a tiny addition of saffron here. To me Aoud Safran isn't that "saffron-y" at all. Not spicy! For example JHaG's Midnight Oud has much more saffron in it. I received my Aoud Safran in a swap with a wonderful Fragrantican (thank you V.!) and I'm not sure whether it's a newer edition or it is from the glorious past of the brand. It is a beautiful perfume, probably one of the best of Montales (along with Attar, Aoud Queen Roses, and Black, White, Red Aoud). If this is one of the newly reformulated products, I have to say this particular perfume they did not ruin. It is still as wonderful as many Montales used to be. Sadly, this is not the case with other compositions. Another very similar perfume is Nejma Three, almost a dupe, just softer.

I had ordered a decant of my fav. White Aoud, and was told they didn't have any more, and they offered Safran in its place. I was a bit dubious, but as it turns out, this was an excellent choice. Safran is White Aoud's sexy big sister. Her innocence is gone. She is worldly and cosmopolitan, and completely liberated. Safran is wickedly, greedily sensuous and very naughty. It is pure sex. Thank God I'm not 35 any more, otherwise it would have been with anyone, anywhere, at any time. Big trouble. The three ingredients listed above don't seem to be enough. Safran opens with something almost like a mixture of litchi and licorice. A bit like an element of Black Aoud. When the saffron and rose come out, it's magical. Then it just keeps going on and on, as the Aoud and rose develop together. Incredibly addictive. My new number one.

This is the classic Arabic saffron perfume if you ever want to try it. Smooth saffron, with woody oud and bitter rose. I wish there was more oud in this. Very mature and serious yet very much Arabic. Definitely exotic for people that are not from Arabia. Actually, much cheaper "saffron attars (oils)" existed that smell exactly like this that are found in all the perfume shop in traditional souqs (bazzars). Montale bottled that scent under their name and they did it well. I really like it but I'll probably just go for the more affordable versions we have around here. No particular name comes to mind at the moment but if I walk into any shop and ask for a saffron perfume, I know I'll get this scent in different bottle. For people not from Arabia, try it. Mature cool weather wear. Big "Like"!

Very Rich and dense oud fragrance that has more of a brown than a black vibe. I am in love with saffron and this oud has more of a leather feel. It is a beast mode or nuclear fragrance, but is still likeable aoud. That being said this is bold and strong and is not for the faint of heart. If you love Godolphin or Tuscan Leather and want something even more bold and middle-eastern then check this one out. This is about the farthest I think Westerner will go with oud or might want to wear in the west. 7 to 12 hours longevity and heavy projection and massive silage.

First, this fragrance is beastly strong. It starts off with that dark oily Oud that Montale is known for. It’s mildly funky, Rosey, Ambery, with a strong Leathery Saffron that’s also mildly spicy. After about 3hours this fragrance then dries down to a Floral Musk reminiscent of Narciso Rodriguez for Him EDP. But with Oud & Saffron. After about 10 hours the Amber re emerges from under the floral musk to blend with it. It finishes as a ambery floral musky incense that still projects quite well as a strong skin scent that still projects.

Believe it or not but this one is by far my most complimented perfume. I kid you not, each and every time. Of course, in my opinion, there's a limited time window for it and that is the beginning of autumn when the summer heat fades but the days are still warm and golden. Works best in autumn because it's got that woody texture that is made just a little bit smokey by the saffron and just a little bit sweet by the rose. It makes one feel so cozy yet present and undeniably elegant.

This is one of the best performing fragrances I've came across, last for 12 hours at least, lingers on clothes for weeks. I sprayed a couple of sprays on my jacket, put it in the closest and anytime I open it saffron wind jumps out. Photo realistic saffron in the opening, slowly abit of oud and rose emerge and blend beautifully with the saffron, but the main player here is saffron. It's smooth, rich and velvety. If you love saffron, grab it. Wearable anytime, except extreme heat.

Oud and saffron? I think I've just discovered my new favorite combination of notes. And of course oud in fragrance without rose is like a Q without a U, but the rose is not dominant here, it plays a support role, adding softness and sweetness. The saffron is leathery and somehow also bright in that odd way that saffron is, and of course the oud is in the front row doing what oud does best, but only if you happen to like oud, which I do. Addicting.

Aoud Safran begins with medicinal strength as do most of Montale ́s aouds. Then the saffron and a bit of rose appear. In comparison to Black Aoud AS contains much, much less rose and honey-amber notes. In comparison to White Aoud AS contains no vanilla/tonka notes. It is somewhere in between. A very nice aoud variation neither really dark nor particularly feminine. Unisex and as strong and long-wearing as is usual for Montale aouds. Recommended.

Nice and sweet rose and saffron scent! Oud might be there, but in the background. Very flowery and sweet. This is one fragrance that actually smells like what it claims to. The oud is in the background yes, but that's often the case with these rose-oud fragrances. This is a similar smell as Haramain's "Oudi," Faransi's "Istanbul," etc. I love these, and they're all slightly unique somehow.

Very rich, deep and dark, quite powdery, sticks to skin and lasts forever. Projects very well, fills a room. Compliment receiver, but always with "...but it's quite weird" part after Oh's and Ah's. All about saffron, it's so rich and natural I could almost add this to frutti di mare while cooking haha or pour some to my flat white. Amazing scent from amazing house.

Don’t trust what you can read, this fragrance is the best value for money oud/rose. It doesn’t come synthetic at all. The saffron is present at the opening and then it’s less perceptible but if you like this three notes, you will enjoy this montale

terrible, very spiritual and dark scent, i mean strong and very hot and smoky, not the kind of scent which suits to young girls and boys immatures very serious and solennel perfume, sacred thing

There is something heavenly & pleasantly addictive in this fragrance. Its a very calming sensual feeling! I think I've struck Gold with this one!

Not as huge when compared to other Montale scents longevity and sillage. Average sillage and up to 6 hours of longevity. Smells like so many others with the medicinal oud which calms down after a couple of hours but I don't get any saffron. None at all, which is a big letdown when considering the name. The oud continues with light florals to round it out a bit. If you are looking for samples of oud/saffron scents check out MFK's Oud and City Oud by Dueto. Edit: Longevity was at 12 hours with hints of saffron coming in very soft after about 6 hours or so.

Well not exactly what I expected but not entirely disappointed... I get quite a huge dose of strong rose, the kind found in luxury rose scented soap that hangs on for the most part of the first 2-3 hours. This fragrance starts to transition into a muskiness that I can't really put in words but for me that's when the fragrance really starts to shine. UPDATE: The dry-down is magical, say the least... I can't put my finger on it but there is something quite reminiscent of the dry-down I get from For Him by NR.

Beautiful saffron top and heart, then goes to a powdery version of Montale's Rose Oud signature on my skin. As it dries down, the saffron goes medicinal and the rose oud becomes powdery. I like the first 10-15 minutes of this more than the dry down. As with most Montales on my skin - I get big sillage and long wear. This is, for me, a scent that I can easily find myself craving when I'm at home alone with no plans.

Nice scent but too soft for my tastes. Starts off strong and medicinal, but quickly dries down to a much quieter scent. Saffron is front and center for me, but there are not enough other notes (specifically a strong oud) to maintain my interest. Still, a very civilized scent that will please many people. Nothing wrong with it and not overly risky for a blind buy, although starting with a sample is always safer.

Remind me a lot Attar with a slightly plus safran and slightly minus sandalwood. They are brothers, nearly twins! Take off the sandalwood and add safran...that's it. This one is a winner for my skin! As I can't buy ALL perfumes in the world, I would buy Attar and not this one as they are similar. A Love here. p.s. Attar don't have saffran and Aoud Safran don't have sandalwood. 5/5

Soapy, synthetic, metallic rose with a touch of leather and synthetic oud. It becomes a nice fragrance once the piercing, metallic edge it has disappears. You really need to give it a minute, it may be unpleasant at first but it smooths out into a surprisingly nice rose fragrance. Black Aoud has been my favorite Montale for a while, but I think this may top it.

This is a beast mode fragrance! Maybe it is my skin chemistry but I get tons of saffron especially in the opening. As it is realy strong and a bit sharp (to me more soapy than medicinal) and truly unisex I enjoy it much more not on its own but layered with something sweet and feminine.

i smell that signature montale aoud at first-kind of sweet, leathery and expensive smelling. i get a hint of rose, but not tons. after awhile i get hints of saffron, but i think this is mostly oud with some rose. i really like montale's oud note and this scent is no exception.

well. i kinda like it. Gives me the impression as if I sniffed into a box of incense stick and a bottle of rose oil at the same time. The saffron seem to put a hold on the roses and the oud, keeping the two in balance.

Extremely powerful and strong. Be warned!

Aoud Safran is one of those fragrances that sounds right up my alley on paper, but in reality is nowhere close. I love both oud and saffron notes, but Montale’s interpretation of both is too bitter, harsh, and heavy for me. I’m usually good at blind buying, but this one was a definite mistake.

impression of a sharp medicine at at the opening - like in JHAG Midnight Oud. After that it gets milder but still not completely good with my skin chemistry to be bought. Quite linear fragrance with medium longevity.

hahaha so serious and heavy im fan of oud and safran separately but this mix is really a headache and strong. you cant hear the tone of safran within it.

The moment I donned Aoud Safran, the first words out of my mouth were: smells like Attar. That was a compliment, in my book, because I love Montale Attar. The funny thing is that the two fragrances are united in featuring aoud and rose, but supposedly divided on the big S: saffron or sandalwood? Can they really be indistinguishable? There are some other possibilities, of course. It may be that both Aoud Safran and Attar contain both sandalwood and saffron, but the former contains more of the latter and vice versa, mutatis mutandis. Still, I did not really believe my nose--or rather my memory of Attar--so I decided to try a direct side-by-side comparison test of the two perfumes, being fortunately in possession of samples of both. Or am I? I ask because my sample of Attar is a carded house vial, while my sample of Aoud Safran came from a decanter. Things that make me (at least) say "Hmm...." The results of the test? Attar and Aoud Safran are close enough on my right and left wrists to be indistinguishable. I tried to find more saffron in the Aoud Safran, and more sandalwood in the Attar, but I failed. The two blends are beautiful, but they are basically the same perfume. What to conclude? The skeptical conclusion is of course that my "hand-decanted" vial involved one of the proverbial "mistakes were made" decanting errors. I know that decanters make mistakes, because when I decant I have sometimes made mistakes. I recall that one time I was trying to prepare a sample of Bond no 9 New York Fling for a friend, and for some reason I kept picking up the wrong Bond bottle! I filled it with Fashion Avenue, and then I made some other mistake--again! Naturally I corrected my errors, attributing them to my dangerously low BCC (blood caffeine content), but I wonder whether decanters always catch their errors and, if so, depending upon their state of disgruntlement (low wages, etc.), whether they make the extra effort to correct them. It would be tempting at the end of a long, boring day of filling strangers' vials to shrug one's shoulders and say, "Whatever. They'll never know anyway." But I digress... Having now read some other reviewers' reactions to Aoud Safran, I find less cause for decanter error suspicions. Other people have found this perfume very similar to Attar as well. I therefore conclude that the two perfumes are in fact quite similar, both containing not only rose and oud, but also both saffron and sandalwood. All of this leads irresistibly to one and only one conclusion: you need to own only one of these two perfumes to satisfy the Attar or Aoud Safran itch.

Postman delivered this today. It smells pretty good - but not amazing. It makes me realise my tastes have been spoiled recently by some excellent and more dirty oud/rose/saffron perfumes that I have in my collection now. This strikes me as synth rose, synth oud and synth saffron. Do I want to smell like this? Perhaps for everyday use yes; but for special occasions, no. Sniffing close up, this juice smells quite bizarre. Like blackcurrant cordial and vanilla soap. A real mukhallat of these three notes smells leathery, smokey and dark, even direct from the bottle. Don't be put off. For most people, this fragrance is good enough. It has that Eastern mysticism that people are looking for. It will not, however, take you away on that real magic carpet ride.

I tested this one based on safran, since I know sounds like it going to carry some Middle Eastren side.. which I always look in this type of fragrance, since I know Middle Eastren carry quilty with good price. After opening the packing I can smell Safran even there were 6 other samples. when I tuched sample my finger got strong safran. This stuff is done so well and good way that you wanted to smell again again. If you like safran and always looking for a good beautiful safran frag then dont look further just test it. Also this has good performance on my skin, I can tell Black oud and Oud Safran are good ones which I tested. not to mention this is a stand out fragrance and I am sure many will ask you what you wearing. 8.75/10

This has the potential to be the best of the montale line, but they messed it up, the oud they used smells a bit like bug spray, they could have used a better smelling oud, and they made the perfume overly obnoxiously strong. It still feels like a great perfume, just wish they reformulate a bit with better smelling ouds and tone down on the rose/safron to make it more guy (man) friendly. But, like i said this has the potential to be the best from montale.

This is a two spray only Montale. I absolutely love it for clean feeling days. The saffron is the main player on me. Quite powdery, soapy clean smell to my nose. Beautifully blended. Fresh out of the shower kind of scent. It truly unisex. Longevity is one of the best and lasts forever on clothes. Silage about 4ft. Do not overstay. Leaves the most beautiful trail. One of my favourite Montales ❤️

Very intriguing, beautiful scent. The saffron really shines through, and the rose slowly starts to come through in the dry down, powdery notes are also becoming apparent. Unisex, but to me it's leaning slightly more on the masculine side. Not a beginners fragrance - and do not blind buy. Beautiful Middle Eastern scent.

A bit smell like lychee-ish when you spray it outdoor. The top notes last for 6 hours and I love the dry down of this Montale, just like my mother expensive soap. The Rose sweetness has more kick than the Aoud, and you will smell it a bit after the dry down. Completely a nice fragrance and woman catcher 😬

Amo lo zafferano, e questo profumo l'ho trovato curioso e intrigante MA le altre note si sentono davvero poco, sdrammatizzano e limano un po' l'esuberanza dello zafferano. A tratti sembra quasi diventare un gourmandes.

saffron is more recognised as a kitchen spice. Montale delivers the flower deeply and exquisitely. So hypnotising almost a mic drop moment. It’s the cock of the Lilly! How can you resist

This fragrance is to Eastern for me.. But never the less this would be a great hit for oud and saffron lovers... For me its a pass.. Performance is above average...

The saffron is very much muddled in this fragrance, and I'm very much disappointed. The oud quickly throws in the towel too. ... nothing to write home about.

It smells just like dentist... or something medicinal. I was wearing this within a week, and my mates asked me why do I visit a dentist everyday.

i get alot of arabian oud , saffron and rose in the opening. ... the rose is also dorminant

absolutely sensual - when I wear it I feel addicted to it!
