Mukhallat

This is one of the most unique fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It’s incredibly fake-smelling, confusing, and beautiful at the same time, and evolves throughout the wear. At first spray, my nose picked up a strong gasoline-like scent, but seconds later my brain registers it as plastic, like the smell of a Barbie as others have mentioned. In the beginning I don’t smell any of the strawberry, vanilla, or almond that the notes indicate, so initially I did not like this. Around 30 min later I start to smell bubblegum mixed with plastic - super fake, kinda like an old school lipgloss scent, but I kinda like it. About an hour and I’m really enjoy it! I’m starting to smell all the notes, not all at once but a sniff here - oooh there’s that vanilla! A sniff there - Yumm that almond... another sniff - strawberry. After 2 hours, it starts to get really sweet and creamy on my skin, a little bit nutty, and honestly kind of sexy. This is definitely a playful scent, but not childish. I can see a young or older adult who likes to go out and have fun wearing this, and imagine their personality is super playful, confident, and bold. I swear at some points it smells like the inside of a fancy hotel in Vegas, like Caesar’s or the Wynn? That’s who I imagine would wear this, the human version of those hotels - you know how to look good, people want to hang out with you, you’re fun to be around, and you can be trouble! Lol. My only con is that the first few min of the wear is headache-inducing, and takes about 30 min for me to start enjoying. But honestly, it’s so unique and beautiful that it’s sort of exciting to go through the “story” of the wear - such a unique fragrance.

Those who've read my reviews will have realized that I'm not a fan of sweet perfumes and that my preferences usually fall somewhere else entirely. However, Mukhallat—despite all my prejudices—surprised me and became addicted. The olfactory pyramid is small; it's not a perfume with many distinctive facets, but it gives you an idea of what you're smelling: a sweet, full-bodied, slightly lactonic fragrance with a hint of strawberry. But be careful, this isn't a real strawberry, but a chemical one. In this case, that's not a flaw in the product's quality, but a specific intent: to evoke a childhood memory. It's a strawberry reminiscent of strawberry milk lollipops, the plastic of certain scented dolls, and lip glosses from magazines—an obviously "fake" note, however, nestled in a sumptuous bed of musk, vanilla, and Peru balsam. The latter, in particular, lends the fragrance a dense, full-bodied, and intoxicating scent that accompanies it throughout its evolution. The opening is surprising and unsettling, but then settles into these soft notes, where the strawberry (which gradually fades) takes on a playful, fun, and jaunty role in a warm, luxurious cloud. In short, what can I say? Once you get past the initial prejudice, you fall in love with it. I can't stop smelling it, and it gives me a feeling of well-being. A clever, well-executed fragrance that lasts a long time and projects just the right amount. If you are a lover of sweets and gourmands, for me it is an unmissable must-have, but in general even if you are not, perhaps it is worth trying it but on the skin, not on the mouillette.

I LOVE THIS PERFUME SOOOOOOOOooOoooOooOoooOoooO MUCH! If I could afford to, I'd buy 100 bottles of these and shower in them. Like, this is just the cutest smell EVER. Keep in mind: this is most definitely a niche perfume. Not a lot of people will like it. It smells very synthetic! It's also not a very gourmand smell unfortunately. It smells like strawberry shortcake dolls and those adorable scented erasers and car freshener (in the best way), it's so nostalgic and sweet and creamy and yummy and everything perfect and ughhhh, I've been wanting this for like 2 years and I finally got it as a "blind buy" (I knew it was exactly what I was looking for because I researched this perfume so much but I had never smelled it before so it was a blind buy) a couple months ago and I've found my favorite perfume in the entire world. Like I can't get over it omg. It gets softer after a couple hours and smells like a powdery, vanilla strawberry ice cream. The performance isn't as good as everyone else says. I'm sad about that. Maybe I got a diluted or faulty bottle? I'd hope not... Either way, I sprayed like 10 puffs of this all over myself including clothes but it just didn't project as much as others say it does. It does last a long time though! But it just isn't super crazy like filling a whole room or stuff like that. I will still use this and love it though <3

Really? My first review after YEARS of being a member. And it's for likely one of the most controversial fragrances out there. I have spent a long time researching it, watching videos, reading reviews on and on and on. And when I received a coupon to get a 100ml bottle for roughly 70$ I just had to BLIND BUY it. Ok, I do get that urinal stone vibe, but boy is this a luxury urinal and if public washrooms would smell like this, well, there's nothing to complain. It actually does remind me of a bathrom scent my parents used back in the days (like... 40 years ago...). I really love it - maybe it's just the memories of a wonderful childhood it brings back? So be it! I don't get any 'fresh' strawberry, rather one that's been sitting on a window sill in the sun for a while. And I like that, too. Looks like this is one of those Marmite/Cilantro situations... you either love it or you hate it. I love Marmite and I love Cilantro... and i LOVE Mukhallat! Folks, if you are unsure, get a decant or a sample and try for yourselves. I agree that blind buying this is kind of a risk, but it's not like you're jumping off a cliff, right? So even if you blind buy it and end up hating it... there's plenty or resell opportunities :-)

I was looking for a perfume that smelled just like "Melissa" Brand shoes. In case you're not familiar with this brand, Melissa shoes are all made of recycled plastic, and they are high quality amazing shoes, usually known as "jelly shoes". On their website they state "To add to the Melissa experience, the decision was made to infuse all our shoes with a sweet, distinct bubblegum scent and it is one of our most talked about features. The smell will not last forever but it does remain for quite a few months. Some of our fans have told us that the scent has lasted for years on their shoes but that will definitely depend on how well you care for them." The smell of these shoes, to me, is ADDICTIVE. Like sweet, rubbery, bubblegum, with a new plastic scent. i was going crazy trying to find something that smelled similar to that and this, so far, has been the most similar scent to those shoes. I swear this perfume is like 80% similar to those shoes. The thing to achieve this is to NOT overspray. 1 spray will get you the "Melissa experience" as similar as it can get for sure! If you are a fan of this brand and their shoes, and you've been looking for a perfume that smelled the same, this is it for sure!

This was a grower. It’s an intriguing one, absolutely not a safe blind buy as it’s quite a polarising one I think, but well worth trying a sample of. I wasn’t sure about this at first. I bought a 10ml because I had one of those odd frag-head moments where I suddenly craved a strawberry fragrance and didn’t have one, and this was recommended. This is the oddest things I’ve ever written about a perfume (particularly one I love) but it reminds me of the smell you get from those big baskets of plastic footballs and beach balls in a toy store. And I love it for that, perhaps it’s the nostalgic effect. 😂. Also smells very much like the car cleaning aisle in a car shop. It must be the peru balsam, which I’m now intrigued by as a fragrance note. It’s a creamy, beautiful, in ya face strawberry. Very artificial smelling, very sweet and lovers of those “dolls head” type plasticy fragrances will probably really enjoy it. Great sillage and longevity so don’t overspray! I have had a lot of compliments on this one, strangely enough. I can imagine one of the really gorgeous Love Island girls wearing this (that’s not an insult by the way, it just evokes that aesthetic).

Ohh strawberry erasers 🍓✏️ and 90’s scented cupcake dolls 🧁👧🏼 we meet again at last (If you were born any time before 1989, you probably remember these babies, they were the cutest dolls, that you could transform into cupcakes) I recommend this who love their fragrances thick and sweet and appreciate a synthetic vibe. On the very first moment Mukhallat feels a bit overwhelmed by intensely medicinal, bitter almond and strawberry syrup notes. Along with the deliciously warm vanilla/almond accords, Mukhallat softens with time where I reminisce strawberry scented erasers, scented barbies and cupcake plastic dolls from the 90’s that were left to melt at the direct sunlight after playing with it for hours. From a deliciously gourmand, warm almond accord, it turns to a defined and balmy quality in the drydown, but there’s nothing quiet, reserved or understated about this fragrance and I’m here for it. It stays rich and dense throughout. Perfect for days when I want to dress up with the cutest (but baddass) outfit, very barbie-like.. short dresses, perfect hair, full face of makeup and lots of sparkles. It has a pretty good lasting power and an amazing sillage!

"As Unisex As Monica Bellucci" :) harhar @cptxxx! loved the cheeky apt commentary. but honestly I love this to bits! Mukhallat to me feels like something out of a cult classic given its unconventional "eccentric" nature... there's this offensive, frivolous borderline tacky quality to it... Ginza inspired junk style acrylic nails, DIYed candy anklets, Fuchsia themed room in a love hotel, a strawberry flavored contraceptive sheath, cheap pink lip gloss, Sailor Moon shirt and some enormous chewed up pink bubble gum. It's rather viscous and glutinous than cakey/spongey, with artificial strawberry creating its flavor, Peru Balsam its texture and Almond enhancing its peculiar rubbery nuance. now.. I don't particularly associate myself with the said aesthetic and it's rather foreign to me hence justifying my enthusiasm, BUT.. I just ordered a hot pink leather bag (which I'm excessively excited about!) and have been contemplating to go somewhat strawberry blonde for quite some time now just to fulfill my *modest* vanity cravings... all the more reasons I might be needing more of this I guess :} 🍧👛💟🎀🍓🦑

First impressions: whoever said this smells like a strawberry little tree (those car air fresheners) is SOOOOOO spot on.. this was a blind buy and unfortunately it’s a bit too similar to that scent association for me :( I’m bummed omg I thought this was gonna smell completely different.. I’m gonna try it out a few more times and leave updates if anything changes for me.. fingers crossed! Update: waiiiiiiit I take it back LMAO this is seriously soooooo delicious! Divine actually. This is what I imagine the prettiest girl in the world to smell like Update 2: YEAHHHHHHHH don’t listen to my initial impressions lmao this is HEAVENLY!! Some perfumes are not love at first sniff and need time to be processed properly in order to fully appreciate them. If ur a kpop fan I knowwww yall know about the whole “3rd listen” vibe where it’s like some songs just need to be listened to a few times.. I apply that same mindset to perfumes too! Never write something off too soon before giving it a chance because this is contending for one of my absolute favorites at the moment <3

I don’t get the ‘immature’ labels at all. This is an amber middle-eastern smelling fragrance, with an interesting kick. There is sweet strawberry, but the almond is giving it a ‘poisonous’ smell. I think it’s sexy. I detect smokiness in the middle and drydown. There’s a bit of a doll head vibe in the top notes, but that doesn’t mean a child should wear it. Unless they have a very intense personality. lol. I love this fragrance, and get a ton of compliments on it. It suits me. And the longevity and sillage are beastly. Only 2 or 3 sprays max required, and I’m normally an oversprayer because a lot of fragrances don’t last on me. Montale is great for this. Edit: when I spray this almost a year later, forgetting what the notes are, I smelled strong violets. I wonder if the juice aged, for the better. Reminds me of Violet candy or a strawberry violet soap. Still love it, just having a new perspective where it smells cleaner to me.

A seductively sweet strawberries and cream type syrup.. kinda reminds me of strawberry flavored Calpico! Not necessarily milky, but that creamy, juicy sweetness you get from those drinks I love so much. This is soooo yummy and sooo sexy! Total femme fatale vibes. Took me a minute to warm up to this one.. the first few times I tried it, I couldn’t shake that “air freshener” comparison I’d seen in a few comments here. I kinda absorbed that as my own opinion, but once I gave the scent a real chance and let myself experience it on my own terms, that association faded.. and now I’m hooked BADDD. It’s just so unbelievably creamy, dreamy, addictive, and syrupy sweet.. strawberry vanilla heaven with an exotic, sexy twist. This isn’t your innocent, friendly neighborhood Barbie doll type of fragrance. No.. this is a BRATZ doll.. and her presence, intensity, and downright cuntiness will make sure you know that 💗💅🏻

This is the most crowd-pleasing fragrance I’ve ever worn, today a girl at my work (who was wearing amouage guidance btw) asked me what my fragrance was and she literally made a note about it because she liked it soo much. People in general can be very judgemental, so they leave rude comments about this perfume but let me tell you, this is a wonderful gem that many people like in real life, so if you read a comment that said “I would never wear this, because it’s plasticky/fake” they are just close-minded and ignore their gut, it works in reality, it’s incredibly pleasant yet strong. I bought it a month ago and received 6 compliments (different people ofc) in total, which was never seen before. They were all heart-felt and very genuine.

Smells like a scented Strawberry shortcake doll from the 90's. I'm talking, in your face, straight out of the box synthetic but clean fresh plastic strawberry! Fake fake fake and I LOVE IT. If you like the hello kitty body sprays, and absolutely juvenile or trashy glam pussy cat fragrances this is for you! It's like that but done exceptionally of course because Pierre did it haha I bought a 10ml travel decant from fragrancenet and enjoyed it while it lasted. I personally wouldn't buy a whole presentation but it was a lot of fun playing with it. As a 32 year old 1990 baby, it was very amusing and enjoyable having girly pamper days at home wearing this listening to 90's bangers 😸 And damn it's a sexy bottle ♥️

Oh wow, I did not realise so many people disliked this perfume. This is one of my favorites and obviously perfumes smell different on different people but I’ve always gotten compliments on it, people have told me it smells like bubblegum, scented candles, donuts and doll heads. On my skin the vanilla and strawberry really stand out, however the strawberry is very plasticky so don’t expect a realistic strawberry. This is a hard candy or gummy bear kind of strawberry. On my skin is smells very vanillic, reminds me of strawberry filled donuts. I blind bought this perfume and fell in love with it immediately but I do recommend to others to get a tester before they decide to buy the whole bottle.

I didn't think I would enjoy artificial strawberry, as I never have before. But this is artificial strawberry done just right. It absolutely takes me back to my childhood, new barbies and scented my little pony toys. It's not too sweet or cloying and it has an airy quality about it. It really really lasts (have been wearing it for 6+ hours at this point and it is still going strong). Somehow it manages to be light and airy and still stick around. I am impressed. I tried mixing it with Cloud and it does give me Burberry Her vibes, except it's way better that Burberry her (IMO) There was something about Burberry Her that did not sit well with my skin. But mixing Mukhallat and Cloud is awesome!

Straight up just Bubblegum vibes in your face.Maybe it's reminiscing thoughts of the the bubble gum sticks inside the WWF wrestling cards I collected as a kid and chew whilst flicking through lookin for a new Hulk Hogan card .I like the sugary sweetness is but warning its overload & theres no change from application to dry down it's all one tone. It's unisex leaning more female but a dude can pull it off easily too (haven't tested it on the ladies yet or may induce diabetes its so sweet)...but I do I like wearing it to mix it amongst everything else as it's so different nothing indepth just pure bubblegum.....which ain't bad

It’s so funny that reviews on here can be summarized by “synthetic sweet toilet cleaner” while Toskovat’s age of Innocence has all the poetic niche reviews that make it sound so special while it’s just a less wearable version of Mukhallat. Mukhallat is actually a niche concept-perfume despite not having a pretentious bottle and name. If you enjoy the smell of something but wouldn’t wear it on your body because you don’t want to stand out or be seen as weird, you care about people’s opinions too much. And to all my Mukhallat lover girls, I get you on a deeper level. Never change.

Blind bought this and read the reviews and got really scared. I was very curious because of the notes and I got a full bottle at a really good discount and I just smelled it today and im confused because it smells delicious. It’s very candy-sweet but not overbearing or juvenile, pretty and soft and kind of nostalgic, reminds me of the smell of fruit candy wrappers when I was little. And then add creaminess to it. If I could visualize it, it would be the Milky Strawberry lollipop from Chupa Chups. Yum!! My only wish is that it lasted longer as i felt it fade pretty quickly

to me, unlike the other reviews here, although it smells like artificial strawberries, it doesn't smell like plastic to me. it does however smell like the strawberry body yogurt from the body shop, which i love dearly. this smells like a strawberry parfait that seems too "strawberry-like" to be real strawberries. i love this, i can use this for literally any day, hot or cold. for a niche fragrance, i also feel like this would be easy to get along with for someone who isn't too into perfumes, so yeah, this could possibly be a crowd pleaser.

I bought this because reviewers here said it smells like Al Haramain's Makkah CPO which I love. And yes, it's definitely very close. This has a bit of a plastic hit that does give "doll head" which I love aswell. It's like an artificial plastic strawberry scent but in the most beautiful way... I've been slowly working my way through my Al Haramain Makkah CPO, which probably cost me about $10 (a year ago). So was it worth paying the $93 plus tax for the Montale Mukhallat?- A B S O L U T E L Y. I love this stuff. <3

Never smelt anything like this. It is sweet. It is vanilla. It is fruity (exotic fruity. Like strawberry bannana pineapple?!) it is powdery. Still never smelt anything like this. I get the car freshener. I get the bubble gum. I get the strawberry milkshake. I get the pink vibes. Very unique and unusual fragrance. As time passes, it gets softer and prettier. Dear god, it’s amazing. I’d say, if you like very sweet, tropical, exotic type of fragrances, try it.

I really love the dry down of this. I love sweet fragrances but I wouldn’t say it’s supper sickeningly sweet or cloying for me. The projection on me isn’t as crazy as other commenters. It’s a bubblegum strawberry scent similar to those Melissa jelly shoes. The opening is a littler harsher and can smell a little cleaning product-like. But I think it’s totally wearable and inoffensive in my opinion. But definitely leans more feminine to me. I really love it.

I loveeeeeeee it! This is my favorite Montale of all! If you like smelling like a strawberry flavored bubble gum dipped into the Redbull, this is the one for you! And I really like smelling like that. On my skin, it's quite intense, with quite some aura. Very juicy, sweet, girly, but with this musky and sour note to it, which makes it more mature. Lovely and different!

Seriously what are people on? It’s true that this has a fake cosmetic scent profile but cheap plastic?? No, this is expensive SOAP. The synthetuc quality it has is reminiscent of soap and not plastic or eraser. Showed this to my brother and he also got soap so I just don’t understand how people compare this to a cheap chinese store when this is an expensive french spa

I was relieved to find that I'm not really getting the plastic/gasoline vibe I'm seeing from others. On me this is a very powdery and sweet strawberry/whipped cream that is somewhat reminiscent of a car air freshener, or those scratch and sniff stickers we had as kids. It's strange, sweet, and addicting. I can see why it's not for everyone, but I absolutely love it.

If I had to buy a perfume for strawberry shortcake this will be the one! I love this one with my entire heart. Was a blind buy and I couldn't be happier with my purchase✨️ it lasts forever. Not a fragance foe everyone, tho! I don't get the synthetic smell some people mention! Also, I have got several compliments while wearing this perfume. I'll be repurchasing

I blind bought this perfume based on reviews and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a lovely scent. Smells like artificial strawberry, vanilla and incense with a hint of pink bubblegum to me. It does smell very plasticy as other people say, my boyfriend said it smells like old toys but I love it. I’ve already gotten a lot of compliments on it and I love wearing it.

Don't listen to the haters, although this has some artificial sweetness, its a 10/10 in it's category. Reminds me of those lip glosses with roller from the 90's with grape fragrance. You can check my collection, this is the only and first one from it that instantly got compliments both from my husband and my mom, without me asking their opinions hahah.

Not sure if I’m going mad but....I kinda love this. Smells like a creamy strawberry milkshake with a warm almond base. Lasts FOREVER and has a nice soft projection to it. Very feminine and sweet. I love this for weekend errands. Now I’m very confused at the hate it gets. It reminds me of a stronger and more almond version of Burberry Her. I love it.

I have over 40 fragrances in my collection, and this is simply amazing, in the top 3 for sure. Its niche while still being very crowd pleasing, one of my most complimented fragrances. Its strong but not overwhelming and lasts a long time, simply amazing. I rock this as a man personally, and i see this as unisex, you can def pull it off as a man.

I am literally obsessed with this fragrance. There is a sort of synthetic quality to the strawberry what it’s grounded by the vanilla. It can give off a plastic like/iris powdery smell but it’s just so intoxicating. I don’t feel like you need a lot of sprays otherwise it would come across as too sweet and nauseating.

For me Mukhallat smells sweet and poisonous at the same time. I mainly smell strawberries, vanilla and cyanide. It's not linear, it becomes sweeter and sweeter as time goes by, and finally powdery. It doesn't seem like a girly perfume to me, but a femme fatale perfume, very sexy and unique.

I'd heard that this fragrance smells like Cabbage Patch doll heads. It doesn't, it smells exactly like those little canned cherry car air fresheners. It's a nostalgic scent that I love, just not quite in the way I expected. This is how I had hoped Yara would smell.

Fruity, juicy, sweet, playful candy fragrance with longevity and good performance. I don't get anything synthetic. Strawberry-like fragrance that comes across as orangey strawberry-ish popsicle or Kool-Aid. I enjoy it for what it is and purchased a full bottle.

Yum! This smells like Strawberry laces or Hubba Bubba to me. I also get 'Strawberry Shortcake doll' too, but I like that. I'm definitely going to try it layered with Cloud as suggested below, aswell as some other perfumes. It's definitely a fun perfume!

Blind buy success. It remind me of crushed up swizzle lovehearts mixed with palma violet sweets. I love this. It’s sweet and powdery (very powdery) its pretty unique and I wouldn’t say blind buy safe unless you love sweet powdery fragrances .

I really don't get the low score and so many dislikes. It's inoffensive and pretty scent, that just doesn't deserve hate cause it smells artificial or cheap to some. For me it smells lovely, and nostalgic. Really beautiful

I love this one! Strawberry jelly crystals elevated by the almond and Peru balsam. Feels like wild strawberries in a forest. Tart, interesting and surprisingly comforting. Lasts forever, especially on clothes.

A very unique perfume. It smells so yummy, like a chocolate cake with strawberry, vanilla and almond flavor, in an expensive restaurant. At the same time, it smells sophisticated, like a soft touch of satin.

I love this but it's a 100% clone of Al Haramain Makkah at a price point eight times higher. buy the other one instead. great fragrance though. big strawberry incense. epic performance. cannot fault it

This should be called “Mean Girls”! It’s lovely, sweet but not nauseating, bubblegum, pink. This is the colour pink and everything girly and youthful. I love it.

Jaw dropping. I just received and it is not a typical gourmand fragrance to me. Definitely more floral than fruity but that’s what makes it so good to my nose.

Whoooaa! What a strange creature you are, Mukhallat! You are evocative to me of so many memories I thought I had put to rest or deleted from my mind: before being a fragrance, you are both a taste and a smell which I can’t help but connecting to things belonging exclusively to my past, a time machine triggering my nostalgia for all that is long forgotten and seemingly futile. Plastic dolls of all sorts, purple fruity candies, cough syrup (the red juice surely helps this connection!), childish makeup kits (am I the only one here who loved to collect all kinds of fruity flavored lip balms, for the joy of my mum who had to buy me one each time we went to the drugstore?), scented pens and erasers... on to the most recent reminiscences of bubbly strawberry-flavored beer, plastic flowers and various other things having in common a sticky, mellow feel. I can surely see why someone may find it uninspiring or straight unpleasant, but I happen to be in the category of those who love their fragrances thick and sweet and appreciate a synthetic vibe – just because of the above mentioned capacity of taking me back to childhood – so here’s something definitely worth my attention. On the very first moment Mukhallat meets my skin I feel a bit overwhelmed by an intensely medicinal, almost harsh strawberry note that immediately switches into a syrupy and overly sugared concoction, reminiscent of plastic toys and berry candies left to melt at the direct sunlight. The definitive enter into the gourmand territory is welcomed by a deliciously warm vanilla/almond accord, with hints of roasted nuts and hot milk that – once again – take me back to the past, to those city fairies where I used to eat marzipan sweets, nuts brittles, fruity candies and all the other wonderful cavity-inducing things sold there. I was not craving the sweet stuff for itself, I suspect, being more attracted by the vivacious lights and the someway comforting smell of candyfloss, caramel and toffees getting prepared. Mukhallat softens with time, acquiring a more defined oriental and balmy quality in the drydown, but it never gets pale, airy or thin: here’s a rich, dense, impact-making fragrance that says what it wants to say in a direct way. No worries about longevity here, the fragrance has a pretty good lasting power and an amazing sillage. I agree with those who used words like "opulent" to describe this scent, there's nothing quiet, reserved or understated about it. I can’t say I am always in the mood for this fragrance, and it's almost impossible for me to collocate Mukhallat in weather/occasion categories of wear, but I am really satisfied with my first Montale’s sampling (thanks to the generosity of a precious lady).
