Nepal Aoud

I am always imagining humans for scents when I smell them for the first time. Well, the one (man or woman, it can be worn by any) who wears this fragrance is a brunette with deep eyes, dressed in leather, wearing boots and a Kalashnikov in hand. It's not an easy to wear fragrance, nor is it patient with you if you do not understand it from the beginning. A cold oud, if you can say that. The transition between the top and middle notes is pretty brutal, it's a carousel between oud and leather that lets you lie in a war zone. Car fuel? Amber? An unusual and definitely unexpected combination. After approx. 3 hours, it slips into a gentler, more spicy scent, something like an old and intimate friend. At the end (6-7h) any aggression disappears, you can finally feel the rose and the saffron. Overall an interesting scent, it's worth a date, but not a blind date. If you have a softer day, and you let it, it can take you to the state of moving mountains.

I really like this oud fragrance, it is not too harsh, it has a rose-fruity quality to it that is really refreshing and comfortable for me to wear. Assertive but not intimidating. However, I have come to the conclusion that this is best suited for the colder months - fall/winter, possibly spring, because in the heat of the Summer the freshness of it quickly fades away, the spices flatten out and get muddled and I get this heavy-ish amber and almost benzine note which I don't particularly enjoy on my skin. In colder weather it is more leathery and refreshingly woody... Still, a remarkable yet very wearable scent if you are into Oud, saffron and all that jazz.

Fabulous stuff, and just what I've been looking for. A woodsy leathery rose scent full of nutmeg which gushes forth without beating me over the head with it, but lasts 8+ hours as of this minute. I even blind bought a whole bottle, but one of the cheaper tester bottles, and I was worried since I've made some blunders recently. (Well, not so recently too, but who hasn't.) Doesn't take over a room, isn't sweet and the vanilla doesn't work you over either. Different enough from Montale Dark Aoud (which moved to my top 20 list seconds after getting it) to be worth buying. Well worth every penny spent.

Ok so this is my first from this house and of all of the new perfumes I have I like this one the best. The real issue is longevity. I have to really search for it on my skin and it's only been an hour. Sillage, if there is any, is very small. The scent is so lovely though. Not overly sweet, not totally southwest Asia market, complex without being snooty. The oud is subtle to me but not chemical. It leans toward cedar. I would only give it a 6/10 despite smelling so good because it just doesn't project or last.

One of my favorites from Montale! It's unusual, creamy in the drydown but not sweet, sharp but in a fierce way. I picture a confident woman dressed in a long white coat walking through a park on a chilly autumn morning. Bitter-y sour autumn leaves on the damp asphalt, crisp icy air, a white cashmere wool coat, a touch of gasoline from cars... The drydown - clean, cozy and pleasant oud with coconut/musk. wow!!! rose ,leather and something in between what makes it so capturing and addictive at first sniff. Surely not an easy and office friendly fragrance . More for personal pleasure .One spray in the palm of the hand and smeared onto the bigger area of the skin ,than just behind ears and on the wrists ,so it's still detectable ,but not intrusive . I would layerd it with just a touch of something vanilla ,to soften it and make it little bit sweeter and more every day usaable . Love it

It smells like a wet forest in the morning to my nose. I can smell some realistic pine trees however it's not listed. There is a very faint gasoline undertone, but it doesn't bother me. I really love it, it's an extraordinary fragrance. Truly unisex, it has good performance and it's perfect for cold early spring days.

I am in love with this scent it's one of my favorite Oud scents from montale. It's probably the cleanest to my nose... classy and worth it for Oud scents... I dpn't smell any rose in this... it's a clean form of oud and light leather, wood and musk... love it.

Just got this today. I have the orange bottle. For me this is an oud and leather fragrance with rose as a supporting note. It's very strong but not as beastly as some montales. Still the performance is really good. 8.5/10.

First Montale perfume. It was not love at first sight, but after using often and waiting its developing i became a Montale pefume lover.

Well well well! This perfume was my obsession 2 years ago! The scent was amazing! It was as it says basically a fresh woody oud scent, not the strong type, just the classy woody type! And today with the new version of Nepal Oud I am extremely disappointed and upset that one of my favorite perfumes ever has completely changed! not only in appearance but also in the main notes and overall scent... it's not what it used to be anymore... the new one is just spice, saffron and some light oud... HOWEVER, if you want to know what this perfume used to smell like, try out Aoud Legend from Montale! It's the light version of the old Nepal Aoud! I don't understand why montale had to play with all the scents like that and ruin each perfume's reputation after having loyal fans and clients...after all this is still a nice perfume if you like oud... just don't expect having the old scent when buying the new version.

Harsh burning opening of strong ambery powder. Nepal Aoud is quite something, the combination of saffron then a delicate but steadily developing rose is classic and gets nicer throughout....I don't know what they do with the roses in bulgaria but it smells good. I can detect a creamy base but it's not typical vanilla and the oud is present with an ambery nature but not by any means strong especially for Montale. Don't be fooled by that description though it has the legendary Montale projection and longevity. As with many Montale's it gets better and better as it dries down. Not a fragrance for me then, I don't know what I expected by the name 'Nepal' but it had me quite excited, I have to say I'm not that impressed. Nepal Aoud is a bit uninspiring but undeniably high quality.

Just a basic review. I like this. To me, it's a "real" fragrance, with some true potency. It's taken a little time for me to aquaint myself to the overall blossoming of the scent, but that's on me. Nice, very nice. Some people may be able to discern certain individual notes they don't like or with which they have a negative association, but it's now a favorite in my collection. I don't know what it might have been like, previously, but I guess my ignorance is my friend. It's possible I'm unsophisticated, but can't really understand how it isn't garnering a higher price, online. Oh, well, it's an individual perspective. I'm glad to have given myself some time with it. Zero regret.

I associate this precious perfume with oriental luxory, however its spirit is simple. Oriental rose and oud in very nice combination, spicy by saffron and nutmeg, on soft vanilla-musk bed. There is no need to add some other note. However this scent reacts differently in changing weather. On my skin it is usually nice but I experienced the day when it created a piercing sour aura. This is the only negative, I suposse. Definitely worth to try and love...:-)

Very strong & sharp smell of saffron & oud. I like it but it's quite too powerful to be comfortable to wear for me. This is for the people who are looking for a loud oud fragrance. Well, that applies for most of Montale's really.

Got this with a sample of Honey Aoud to compare. They're both linear and have the same strong oud note, but Nepal Aoud is cleaner and lighter, with the smallest hint of the leather. It's just as powerful, but not as interesting.

This is a louder, less sophisticated copy of MFK's Oud Silk Mood. What's different is that this one has somewhat of a musky, soapy dry-down instead of OSM's grassy, herbal chamomile and papyrus. Nice, but I prefer the MFK.

OMG!....A very strong fragrance.....It is very woody with heavy rose....Not for a blind buy.....Try a sample first....Beast mode warning!....Unisex but leans more male....

I like it. Mainly Oud and Leather. Great for cooler weather and evening wear. Leans more masculine.

Noble leather with musk. I like it.

I do get the pine forest vibes which I like but in the air, it smells like shaving cream to me. In that sense, it totally smells "clean" but not in a wearable way imo. Or maybe, my skin just doesn't do it justice. I should love this because I like all the notes displayed but it's simply not the case. Overall, I'm not a fan but it doesn't smell offensive either. Edit: actually the more I smell it and the more it reminds me of a hair relaxer. Doesn't make me recoil but my inner child doesn't enjoy this either. That's a pass for me.

All I get is an overwhelming powdery musk with rose in the distance underpinned by vague woodiness. Kinda screechy and rough. Leans feminine. It’s ok, but kind of character-less. Much better options out there.

There's that intense rose and sharp synthetic Montale Aoud again!!! Jesus!!! To sum this fragrance up, this is Black Aoud top notes and mid and then a subtle Dark Aoud dry down. It's as if they combined the two fragrances and made this. These Montale's are beasts too and take eons to dry down.....suffering through the synthetic tarry smelling oud and old lady rose is torture for me. The full dry down is nice and calmer than Black Aoud, and also not as piercing as Dark Aoud, so in that sense it's better than the two, but it's still not a fragrance for me.

This was a total scrubber for me. It smelled like wood being cut with a chainsaw and expired incense. Unfortunately, Nepal Aoud did not develop beyond that for me so I returned it.

Your basic rose-oud nothing special, smells a little bit cheap but not bad, still its a pass, there are many better rose-oud fragrances out there.

Well, I am quite surprised how much this frag is appreciated. For me, it was one of the few, which I had to wash off. I couldn't stand it. It made my stomach turn upside down and truly made me sick 🤢🤮. This is not an exaggeration. I smelled oud, leather and some strong herbs, reminding me of a gas. When you're cooking and accidentally leave the gas on 😱. The perfume is not sweet at all. I hope I don't smell it anymore in the future. This is a strong dislike from me to Mr. Montale - otherwise I like his creations 🤷♀️

I truly feel Pierre Montale uses real ouds. around oudh a whole microcosmos of dis/information has been established and often the ironic thing is if people say there is synthetic oudh used they forget these synthetic olphactory sensations often are the very characteristics of this chameleontic perfumial note OUDH with its thousand faces. I have now tried several oudh-perfumes of various gradations, nichiste, 'corporative', hyperexpensive (Dusitas Oudh Infini, ExIdolos Thirty Three, Histoires des Parfums Pétroleam), trashy cheap and many Montales because I love his renditions with REAL CHOSEN AND VARIOUS OUDS and various ultradeep intrusionist roses and I must say: Montale never disappoints. the predicament oudh often gets is that 'it is synthetic' and the rose falls to the verdict of "this is the typical old ladies' scent" and what bullshit. in my opinion the rose is the flower of flowers and possesses a regality which heaves up all other ingredients intricately used in some particular parfum. it is the same here. "Nepal Aoudh" at first and with its last hushes of nirvana gives off a typical softness maintained throughout the whole duration what with nutmeg, saffron and leather must have been no easy nor cheap feature. yet it is the characteristic which defines for me this beautiful perfume. the rose has a deep quality with majestic longitude lifting all the other notes in its alchymic evolvement. as does this particularistic smelling oudh, strong woody, interestingly synthetic a note in its busy locker of intense smelling aspects defining oudh as a veritable interesting and yes, domineering tone in perfumes. the parfum lifts the spirit, I love the sharp yet 'embedded' presentation of the spices and I guess it is the amber which lends (alongside with this side of the rose pungency: its winelike roundness plus the vanilla) Nepal Aoud this very soft yet also autocratic presence fitting for the truly rose-oudh afficionado. concerning the used term (everywhere) "old ladies scent": not is it only pejorative towards sexe, also towards age. it is that simple. implicitly assessing a 'young studs scent' would be heaven. for such oldfashioned (truly !) "insights" the time is over for good. and what blessing. modernity has gotten a whole new face. get used to it.

this is a sultry and opulent perfume. I started buying Montale in 2003 so I guess I had this perfume in 2014. and there was the same Enigma: the first spritz after quite a while. I didn't now brought my nose to my pulse but clearly smelled... Gasoline. I knew what effused that, in the build up 'overdepôt' of the 10 year old flacon: the Nepalese Oudh. I have always said there IS OUD IN MONTALE. of course not Tonnes in each perfume. I think they work with microdosages. it has to be bc some guy once wrote: 'do they hold a gun to mr. Pierre Montales head that he every 3 seconds comes with a new perfume ?'. I had to laugh loudly. and imagining his Factories he is now a Multi National plus the CEO. but in the mean time this is a sophisticated and subtle (as subtle as a Montale can be) perfume with immediately the Dance of Rose and Oud. I understand this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine. the Rose is refined and reaches a sourness, Citronnade, Bigarade. the Oud thus, is discreetly foul in the beginning to turn to a Dry and Strurdy Wall of a Wood later. Roses and Woods go well together. I also read here some time ago that 'Oud' also means 'Wood'. but the resined and anti funghal mechanisms of the Agar produces a lot of scent and it can go all the way around. I should say there is a Band-Aid aspect to it, which enlevens the perfume for me, IF the Rose is there and swirls her feminine petals around. I also could pick out the Saffron, Nutmeg, Leather, Amber and Vanilla. perhaps that is why 'Intense Café' is chosen as a referential comparison. but I do not agree. and that doesn't matter. the perfume is not obsolete and I find none of the Rose-Oud perfumes of Montale obsolete bc they would cover territory with each other. no no no. they are all unique, persevering and beautifying the surroundings with Strong Odors. and that is precisely how I like it.

I know Montale gets a great deal of criticism for producing a lot of frangrances that have similar scents. I can understand that to some extent. But on the other hand, no one is saying you have to buy them all. Sample and buy the ones that truly reach out and grab you. I own Nepal Aoud and White Aoud, and while they both have a note or two in common they are also fundamentally different enough that it wasn't hard for me to justify buying them both. With Nepal Aoud I get lots of Amber and Oud, and the saffron helps take some of the rough edges off and to smooth it out very nicely. A bit further back is leather, which becomes more prominent during the dry down. One of the many things I really love about Montale fragrances is for the most part they have beastly longevity and projection. Nothing annoys me more than trying out an expensive fragrance with a mesmerizing scent only to find it is completely gone in three or four hours. I own five Montale fragrances and all of them are two or three sprays and I am good to go until I wash it off.

This is about my 5th Montale and again i am more than impressed. This when first sprayed and all throughout the day is very very soft but do not be fooled in to thinking that Sillage or Longevity will be effected by that as after all this is a Montale. You might not notice it at first but you will be projecting like crazy. The amber note gives it a little bit of a rich sweetness, but not too much, this coupled with its oud give it a very masculine feel which is perfectly counterbalanced by its rose note to give it a very feminine feel, all of which combined give leaves this fragrance sitting very much on the middle of the road for gender. I have noticed this smells almost identical to Scentstory's 24 Platinum, but 24 platinum has a very noticeable sugar note that you just don't get from the amber in this scent alone.

I like this house a lot and they definitely have their hits, but I have to agree with the whole quantity over quality critic. When I got my sample I instantly imagined the Lucky Scent guys snickering and saying something like "let's just use Dark Aoud because nobody can tell the difference". You REALLY have to hunt for subtle differences with this thing and I'm being generous by saying that the dust in Dark Aoud is perhaps replaced here by a slightly vanilla tinged rose, which may be why others are comparing this to White Aoud. By no means is this a bad fragrance (actually quite lovely I must admit), it's just predictable and redundant. Though by now one really shouldn't expect more from Montale other than variations on a theme.

Well this is some very potent stuff! I have a few Montale’s now and this seems as though they have taken Black Aoud, taken the Rose out and just changed it for leather. Everyone says how Black Aoud is the strongest Montale, this is as equal if not a bit more! Limited occasions to wear this however, something like bonfire night or walking around Christmas Markets. Definitely outside it where this shines. I will say one piece of advice because this is so strong it does stain clothes easily, not discolour but will leave the oil residue on them. If you do spray on clothes this will be on them until you wash them. In my opinion the most Underrated Montale our there!! 10/10

This is a lovely though somewhat predictable fragrance. I find myself surrounded by a rather soapy amber scent-very pleasing! I adore most Montales and I think this one will be right on up there in my current rotation. I know that Montale gets criticized for putting out so many fragrances that are similar, but I find each one different enough to warrant owning a full bottle. I was concerned that Nepal would smell way too much like White but they really are quite different in that I get a lot more rose in the White and almost none in the Nepal. I am very happy to have a fb of Nepal. It is definitely a thumbs up for me!

Fresh off the Montale conveyer belt comes Nepal Oud — a scent that smells like at least 15 of Montale’s other “ouds,” only with more cedar. The usual black agar / rose / saffron are present, but it feels more boxed-in than some of the others. Like, literally—a stock Montale in a cedar chest. Perfectly pleasant, a bit cheap-smelling, but nothing frightening. An Orientalist’s dream, but like most of the scents from this line, once you’ve smelled one, you’ve smelled them all. Standard-fare Montale oud-pie but with a bit more wood.

I have the new version (probably reformulated) with the orange bottle and gold sprayer. In my opinion, it's a diluted Black Aoud, with the rose far behind. The leather is not there, just amber, saffron and of course the synthetic Oud. Good longevity 8h+ but medium to discreet sillage / projection. In no case does it project as black aoud, let's say a maximum of 20% of what black aoud can. Overall OK, but I was just expecting to something more, with far better projection. In this case I say it's a good discreet office scent.

My first thought was " all the Montale Ouds are starting to smell alike". It would make me happy if they called one of their Ouds "Redundant Oud", kind of like Juliet has a Gun did with Another Oud. Someone once asked me if I smelled paint thinner coming from somewhere and I realized it was a Montale Oud that I was testing. I find them too harsh and caustic to my sinuses(and apparently others sinuses) to be able to like them. I'm kind of thinking they're sort of the Axe body spray of the Middle Eastern genre.

I have a sample and I like it but it smells similar to Montale's White Aoud. I'm new to Montale's fragrances and I really love White Aoud. Its the only bottle I have right now but I'm considering buying other Aoud fragrances from this house but before I do so I wonder if someone experienced with this line can tell me if all of his Aoud fragrances smell similar? I'd just as soon stick with the lone bottle of White Aoud rather than buying the same scent with a different color bottle and different name.

I have the white bottle, not the newly reformulated orange one. It reminds me of a kind of Indian incense for some reasons. Very irritating to the nose even after almost 30 minutes of spray on my wrist. I can smell the Oud, a bit of leather and very strong Rose. The Rose scent kinda slap me in the face when I first sprayed it. This feels more of a fragrance for the 40s 50s rather than for the young people. I will probably blend it with some vanilla or bergamot to tone it down a little bit.

This is a very typical Gulf-Arab scent, in the best way. It reminds me of the scents they pump out of the air vents in the malls of the UAE. Amber, Rose, slightly sour Oudh.. hints of funky-sweet musk, nutmeg and saffron (not leather). This is the most classic Arabian smell in their line imo. Very beautiful but not every-day IMO. If you like these types of scents, it's worth a blind-buy. You will feel like you've smelled it before. Excellent longevity and projection too, of course.

So..... difficult one this.... nice enough scent but certainly no master piece, to my surprise I already had a scent in my collection that smells very similar at least to my nose and that is Al Haramains Excellent. Never learn my lesson not to blind buy do I??? Not a beast of a performer by any stretch of imagination and not that all Montales are ment to be but yeah a pass for me. Longevity isnt anything to shout about either. Very unisex if not female leaning.

It's a bomb that just went off, and not one of those little puffs, it's a nuclear detonation. The shockwave ravishing through the room, overpowers everything in it's wake, sweeps across the street, the echo bouncing off the walls of surrounding buildings and settles in a fine mist engulfing everything that's within 30 feet. I may have gone to far, but yeah it really is this good.

For the headstart Nepal Aoud is great for what I get out of a sample. I'll definitely get a bottle of this juice. Someone wondered if it was similar to the other Montale fragrances. Well to my nose they are all different, I also have a bottle of Red Aoud and Black Aoud. They are all similar with an oud base but very distinctive in their composition and aromas. Great masterpieces

There are two versions of this, one is a good oud rose leather vanilla that I smelled in the past, and it smelled good, the other is a bitter awful mess that's good for nothing, not sure why is that, but that's what I'm saying, sample before you buy, not a safe blind buy, I repeat, sample first. Can't remember the color of the one that smelled good, but the bitter one was white.

I'm not an oud girl but I bought a sample of Nepal Aoud anyway. I'm surprised by how wearable this is. In fact, it's kind of an addicting scent. This is a very sexy combination of oud, rose and leather but each note is dosed so perfectly that the overall effect is very smooth, not barnyardy or funky. No gasoline to my nose.

I have the white version, maybe it is my rookie nose but the first impression looks like the scent of a dentist at work, as the minutes go by it becomes powdery and musky. very good longevity and sillage. It is unisex inclined to masculine but the powdery of the drying makes it a perfume that a lady can wear

One of the best from Montale. Rose leather with beautiful sillage. Very luxurious scent trail. Highly recommended for oud-rose combo lovers.

can someone please help and tell why there is 2 different bottles for this product when search in Google. One is red the other one is white

Like any other Montale perfume .Please don't get me wrong ,It's not bad . But they all smells the same after an hour .

The dry down reminds me closely of Penhalogan’s Halfeti.
