Oud Dream

After sampling in-store, my bottle finally arrived from an online order today. Ahh yes, Oud Dream, what a mysterious, dark, sexy, and slightly sweet fragrance. Love, love, love this one. I'm a sucker for most fragrances that feature either oud, rose, and/or patchouli, so of course I was going to love this. The oud is very beginner-friendly, none of that barnyard faecal stank. The patchouli is strong, and the hint of rose helps to provide a nice sweet balance. If you are curious about getting into Oud fragrances, this is a great starting point. To enjoy this fragrance you must also be a fan of patchouli, it's dominate here. I was recently looking for a new signature scent, previously held by Tom Ford Oud Wood. I've been comparing those two side by side, one on each arm, and surprisingly they have some similarities. Oud Wood has a lot of character and depth, which is sweetened with a touch of vanilla. Oud Dream is heavier on the patchouli and sweetened with rose. Both are seriously amazing, but considering Oud Dream was much cheaper, I have to give it the win here. These are extremely classy scents, date night and special occasion worthy. It's only been a few hours, but the performance, projection, and sillage of Oud Dream seem more than adequate. It's created a lovely scent bubble around me. I seriously can't stop sniffing my arm! Overall 9/10. It's everything I wanted in a fragrance: dark, mysterious, sexy, and unique, all at a fair price.

Montale Oud Dream’s familiar note listing of rose, patchouli, and oud—no strangers to the Montale/Mancera catalogue—add a fairly sweet, creamy twist that doesn’t seem to be indicated by the notes. It’s instantly pleasant, with reasonably balanced blend of the three main notes but with almost a honey and whipped cream blend to creamily render it sort of a sweet fragrance while still being a rose/patchouli/oud. Also, there are powdery nuances, which make the blend not totally sweet-leaning but a little more nuanced, despite the brief note list. Like most of the cold-weather-leaning Montale/Mancera fragrances, specifically with rose and/or oud, Oud Dream performs very well, with only a few modest sprays providing great sillage, density, and, so far, longevity, as expected. This might be the most impressive Montale/Mancera release to me since Montale Arabians (of 2017), as much as I know that Montale Ristretto Intense Café and especially Mancera Instant Crush have been popular in recent months. Oud Dream has the standard Montale retail pricing of $170 for 100ml and is available not only on the house’s website but great boutiques like Osswald NYC, Luckyscent, and Krystal Fragrance, though it’ll usually move to the grey markets and Facebook sales eventually for less. Krystal Fragrance even has various decant sizes available at good prices. I’ll enjoy my decant for a while but this will surely get bottle consideration too. 8 out of 10

My nose has evolved so much over the 30 years I been passionately into fragrance. I got this cause I just got a gut instinct (mostly from negative or describing details actually). I got it when I went thru a period of buying a lot of niche like scents. Many are powerful. Like in the eternal category. I never seemed to think a scent was there when it really was so I would think it was average or poor performing when in reality it was longer. A mistake many make, even when I read comments or reviews here. I kind of got around 50 scents. Discovery of how clones evolved saved me so much and allowed me to realize I can now chill with the new buys unless I lost an old bottle by attrition. Run out either replace or keep it at 50. Went on to become addicted to Invicta Watches. Especially replicas of Marvel stuff especially their Punisher ones. Like I did the same as with frags. Who needs 23 watches? Same person who needs 50 bottles of cologne. Anyway I got off track I meant to say I didn't smell this in about a year and I just put it on and it's a new 10/10. Love love this. It's so rich, inviting and it has that Bvlgari Man In Black type scent but with wayyyyy better ingredients. First time I could tell how good this was and is. Soooo glad my bottle is 70% full. Love it. It's strong and masculine and oud is yea and rose I can't tell. Just the ingredients are so well blended it's one good smell.

And another misnomer from Montale. Oud Dream is Spicebomb. Viktor&Rolf's Spicebomb. Which also means it is Bvlgari's Man In Black. Again no oud and I really wish that people would stop voting for notes they do not know how they smell. Terribly misleading and is helping some sketchy designers mislead the public. Yet, Oud Dream is a smooth and charming spicy cinnamon scent with a dash of sweetness. It's almost smokey, too. I really like it the best from all these cinnamon scents that are in the vein of Spicebomb/Man In Black. I'm not counting Burberry London, which is different and a more beautiful "scent", personally, than Spicebomb/Man In Black but some people put all 3 together. Back to Oud Dream, the cinnamon is very real. Like food-grade cinnamon, and that makes it pack a punch of sharp spiciness in the opening that might off put some people. However, the dry down is unmistakably identical to Spicebomb. I really dig it more than Spicebomb. It just feels warmer and deeper. Really good! Now, look at the voting at the top. Which season is voted the highest? Fall! Just like every other one of these cinnamon scents! Supports my cinnamon-y point. Do not be deceived by the written notes. A mature cool weather wear. "Love"!

Oud Dream opens with a very strong Oud that smells Woody, yet oily, like an Auto Shop. The Patchouli is there adding a Soil like Earthiness to the Oud. The Patchouli is also lending a subtle green freshness. The Rose is there adding a mild floral freshness while also adding a Fruitiness. Think Red Fruit like Raspberry. After about 3 hours the Fruitiness of the Rose settles & the Floral aspect of the Rose begins to blend with the greenness of the Patchouli & the dark oily woodiness of the Oud. Oud Dream is a Dark, Earthy, somewhat Fresh, Woody, Floral fragrance at this point. But in the 4th Hour, seemingly out of nowhere things change & the entire scent profile turns into BVLGARI Man In Black...But rather, a Niche version. At this point its like bougie BVLGARI Man In Black with an Earthy Oud that smells like an Auto Shop. ...& even still, Oud Dream & Man In Black arent redundant. Oud Dream has Nuclear performance with an Oud thats there from beginning to the end. This fragrance projects very well for 6 straight hours. Then projected subtly for several more. It lasted on Fabric for 3 weeks.

It's an incense/woody smell that is sweet and leathery. There's a great balance here that makes this fragrance perfectly unisex in a way I adore. The best way I can describe this fragrance is that it's not shy at all, very inviting and energizing, but respectable and classy. I feel like you could wear this year round; It's bold enough for the winter, and it's bright enough for the summer, probably MOST suitable for mild temperatures. It's incredibly balanced! I'd prefer to wear this when I'm more dressed up. Much to my despair, though, I seem to be allergic to something in it. It destroys my sinuses. But on certain occasions I think I'd be willing to pop a couple pills and deal with the congestion, because it's just.... so good...

YES!! Halfeti was one of the fragrances responsible for sending me down this rabbit hole. I do enjoy the oud/rose combination. I have found some too sweet and others too rosy. None could catch Halfeti. Dare I say, until this. Okay, it is not as complex. But, it is satisfying. Maybe it is the patchouli in the mix and that the rose isn't trying to be the star. I put this on one arm and Halfeti on the other. This of course lasted way longer. I noted throughout the day that I went to this more for enjoyment. This captured my attention. By the end of the day, I was like Half...what. Now I want to find Fantastic Oud for a test. Even better is that this is way cheaper.

Oud Dream was everything I was looking for in a fragrance. I wanted something unisex, that screamed Middle Eastern scents that encompass the incense that's burned in all the shops and markets. Of the people that walk-around and you catch whiffs of their warm, spicy goodness. I walked into Al-Jazeera perfumes and told them I want to smell like the Middle East they brought this one to me. It was the one! The sillage is unbelievable, and longevity on skin is great, 24 hours plus. On clothes, a week. Highly recommended!

Very alluring scent but becoming too "similar" if you are into fragrances. This is a no brainer if you like oud-rose combinations where oud is not dirty, dark, sharp and rose is not fresh, feminine, floral (yes i know...) but more spicy, dark, sweet, like it's distilled from dark red/black rose petals. I'm a big fan of Penhaligon's Halfeti, and Oud Dream is quite similar, and cheaper. But if it wasn't for Halfeti, I would go for Oud Malaki or Costume National Homme.

#642 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is a pretty standard oud scent but I love it because the rose is not overdone as it is in many orientals. In terms of strength of the notes this goes patchouli-oud-rose and I like that. Solid EDP longevity and projection. I think if not over-sprayed it's safe for carpool, elevator, closed office, but more of a date night scent. Not for the kiddies. More masculine than unisex. If you like oud scents as I do, this is a solid entry.

Love at first smelling. Simply wonderful!Soo good! I had found that this fragrance has these notes: Bergamot, cardamom, coriander, black pepper, sweet honey, rose, oud, patchouli, cedar, leather, amber, musk Sensual, cozy, alluring, warm, relaxing and I am glad that it is only gently sweet. It is so harmonious and nicely blended that you don't get the simple notes but a beautiful and complex smell, like a warm blanket.

Below reviewer is right - this opens up as cinnamon gum. I was so disappointed. But just wait. That dies off after the first 20 mins and somehow disappears. What's left behind is a beautiful smell. It resembles a patchouli tobacco(processed, not fresh), with only a slight hint of sweetness from what I presume is supposed to be the rose. Don't get any oud at all, however. IMO a masculine scent.

Wow.... just wow! This stuff blew my socks off. My signature scent for sure! It starts of like one of my all time favourites; Oud Malaki by Chopard, but as the hours goes by, the scent evolves into a world of its own. The patchouli (one of my all time favourite notes) lives in perfect harmony with both the oud and the rose. Beautiful, beautiful parfum. This is what it was all meant to be.

I agree with the reviews that get an oily note from this, but don't be put off. It's a really lovely (synthetic, obviously) oud, well-blended with the rose and patchouli. It won't blow the socks off the true oud connoisseur, but it's more likely to be a crowd-pleaser because it isn't as polarizing. Personally, I love a good oud + floral blend, and I'm happy to add this to my rotation.

This is an oud patchouli bomb. And let me tell you this stuff is strong, beast mode performance, a room filler. It’s actually very pleasant, the opening have that oud and patchouli kick to it, it’s a little bit earthy and cool smelling; like a damp soil and the rose comes after. I really love this fragrance!

I bought Montale Oud Dream after the first sniff. It reminded me of Chopard Oud Malaki which i own also and i think the notes mentioned here are wrong and they are mixed with the notes of Montale fanatastic Oud. longevity is about 8 or 9 hours on skin. projection is good for the first 3 hours. 14-JUL-2019

I blind traded for this and I love it. Really nice balance of woody and sweet. Wearable in many situations. Not at all heavy but long lasting on clothing. I'm happy to own it. Be aware that the dry down can turn a bit unpleasant. I suggest reapplying throughout the day.

Number 1 Montale perfume in my opinion I looooooooooove this perfume and I keep buying it over and over , I just simply can’t live without it. Stunning smell and performance . And I have the most precious memories with it , the best days of my life ..

I don't see how anyone could dislike this fragrance. Simply stunning! Lasts all day long and into the night. I can't get enough of it. The musk in the dry down is so addictive... Try this one asap!

All I get is pine, mint, cinnamon, and sweet incense, maybe some buttery leather. It's lovely, just not what I expected. Leans masculine though I would wear it simply because it's not common.

It smells amazing ,unique and very different from other monatales. Why is no one talking about the coconut note tho , i always get a hint of coconut when im smelling this one .

It's an absolutely amazing scent lasts so long and even though it's mostly used in cold temperatures when our in the sun the scent gets way better

I sampled Halfeti and Oud Dream together. Oud dream's opening is a little pungent, but they are very similar. Oud Dream have a better performance

Off my skin this smells completely unisex. Isn't all the strong actually. 8/10. I still enjoy it but isn't as strong as I expected it would be.

This is a nice sweet oud scent. Not overpowering at all like most ouds. This would be my 2nd place to oudmazing from the montale brand.

I've been testing the "three reminds me of's" side by side on skin for three days to see if Montale Oud Dream or Chopard Oud Malaki could replace the mighty - and mighty expensive - Halfeti. OPENING: Halfeti opens as - a fresh cypress scent! Gorgeous cypress with other things in supporting role. More of a Mediterranean scent than oriental at first. Oud Dream opens extremely spicy. Is it cardamon, cinnamon? Then there's leather, wood, oud, glue... It's all a bit dirty and sweet and dank and quite glorious. Not nearly as fresh and woodsy as Halfeti. Oud Malaki opens spicy as well, but a bit fresher. It's the middle ground. There's a cashmeran molecule smell here that makes this lean mainstream. 1-2 H LATER: Halfeti still has a natural woodsy breeziness to it: the rose, nutmeg, jasmine I presume kicking in with the cypress still going strong? Oud Dream is a dirty sweet mess, like a drunk hottie with tattoos and a cigarette. Dark and pungent. Oud Malaki has a unique and very pleasant freshness to it - that is until that tobacco shines through. Where's the freshness coming from? Love it. SOME 5 H LATER: Only now does Halfeti start to reveal its oriental nature with oud and leather and sandalwood. Halfeti is the most morphing composition. Oud Dream starts to smell like ass. For decency I won't continue with the previous analogy. There's also manure and a deep-fried Mars bar. This is the strongest, most linear of all and the most divisive. Oud Malaki is Tobacco Malaki. It's a fabulous sweet brown cigar leaf scent with a rum raisin feel. Sadly at this point it's too sweet for my dry taste. This has the least oud to my nose. Also maybe slightly weaker in performance from Halfeti too. VERDICT: For my personal taste, these are good but can't beat Halfeti. Runner-up was Oud Malaki, which I found fantastic until it gets too sweet for my taste personally.

9/16/2019 Ok so for those that know what Montale honey aoud smells like this is the same vibe. This starts off with a blast of honey with oud and as it dries the patchouli starts to come threw and it gets more and more aggressive but in a good way. The honey and oud tone down and fall to the background and the patchouli is the star of the show with it being sweetend by the honey and the oud is barely detectable.So in the end you get what comes across like a chocolate patchouli sweetend with a light golden honey and it smells great. So this is the same vibe as honey aoud but cut the honey and oud in half and add a ton of patchouli. A better name would have been Patchouli Dream.

This is really sexy stuff very seductive good performer, but from initial testing seems to be more about sillage than projection.Comparisions to Halferi are apt Halfeti is a masterpiece and so is this for a more professional vibe wear that.However for a ball/upper class black tie formal swaraj wear this.It has all halfeti has but with a warm spicy honeyed nuance almost coke like.Smells like Roja's Enigma mixed with Halfeti with honey very unique truly niche scent.Smooth non-synthetic which people often try to accuse Montale of.It is a beautiful creative scent that develops

Since I finally got round to testing Oud Dream as I got a small sample while ago. I'm getting a massive hit of medicinal oud it hits pretty hard. Along with a lot of Patchouli, wish the rose was stronger honestly as I'm not picking it up at all. Gotta say I prefer Honey Aoud to this. Will probably do more tests as on Oud Dream as I'm somewhat indifferent about it. Update: Since I first sprayed it and it's had a chance to settle the oud is less prominent now and that rose is finally making an appearance.

Reminds me of one of those candle shops that smell like fragranced wax and potpourri. The main notes i notice are honey, cinnamon, tobacco, and cardamom and potpourri rose to a leaser degree. Really smooth and addictive. I would add this to my "cozy" fragrances collection. Very vaguely reminds me of Le Lion by Chanel because of its smooth, cozy, resinous, complex, and old-fashioned feel.

Recién ahora que es invierno y después de varios meses sin tocar el perfume, lo probé, me volvió a gustar y ya no lo siento tan pesado por suerte. Me lo voy a poner para ir a la facultad y ver qué opinan mis compañeros.

Very strong silage. Immediate quite sweet herbal and agarwood wave. A good portion of spice and oud with distinct masculine vibe. Overall very well-layered, but too balsamic for me. I just vote down any perfume with sweet balsamic notes. If balsamic notes don`t bother you, you will discover a good quality perfume with a character.

@Ludeejee I knew i smelt Honey and Amber in this scent honestly its to me a more complex take on Honey Aoud.Which i already love but i think its redundant to own both so i am sellimg Honey Aoud keeping this.I also get a Cinnamon in there all round great scent

Smells like a not so smooth version of halfetti. It's nice but a tad on the synthetic side for my liking. That being said, it is rather nice and does have pretty decent longevity.

A rose oud with a resinous backbone, smells very good. A beautiful cold weather fragrance that makes me want to get cozy and just watch a movie 🥀🪵

Sensual, dark, sweet. I'm new to these kinds of fragrances so I don't have a lot of points of reference, but I like it!

Got this in a sample pack and it's a really nice fragrance but it's very close to the montale masterpiece honey aoud.

I am not a fan of this fragrance to be honest. It reminds me a lot of Red Tobacco from Mancera and i also get Valentino Uomo Born In Roma. I would also say this smells a lot like cranberry jam for some reason. I am not a fan of sweet fragrances and this one is extremly sweet and intense. I wore this few times and literally got people telling me its horrible. (I did not overspray). Maybe its just me because i don ́t really like overly sweet fragrances but i am so glad i didn ́t buy a full bottle.

I don't really enjoy this fragrance. To me it smells like gingerbread cookies and a bit of synthetic oud. I recently acquired Blessed Baraka by Initio and I get a similar vibe, however, the Initio one is superior and I long to wear it, while this one, I long to sell it

I woke up from an odd dream that I got hit by the hype train. Was it really just a dream? Oud Dream begins with a rush of transparent synthetics, likely fixatives for the top, which make way for the main feature—Prince Ali! Fabulous he! Ali Ababwa! It is a junior luxury oud accord, featuring a touch of honey and Oriental spices—with a rare, quality leather texture that you wouldn't typically get in a mainstream fragrance. The balance between sweet, spicy, and oudy seems very well maintained. It gives you a little of the best qualities from each—as is I think most desired for an oud fragrance. The oud is very well-tapered—yet probably still too overwhelming for someone new to oud—and fearfully (I dread to say this, but) too underwhelming for anyone who makes a specialty of oud. All the middle-earthers however should find the blend here more than acceptable—especially with the fascinating leather accent and its effect. I personally think it's a touch imbalanced, and would have been closer to perfection if the sweet and spicy accents had more dominance over the fragrance. It also seems to be missing an important, dynamic aspect—possibly an expensive ingredient (vanilla, sandalwood, saffron)—that would keep it from feeling like yet another generic oud. I might just be desensitized, or have expensive tastes, but that's kind of what I get out of this; even despite the use of natural oud, and the blending effort. A peasant bread for oud lovers. Yet remaining one of the more respectable works among this house's collection—which somehow doesn't feel like it means what it wants to mean. If you build it, he will come? He is a Godless man, you can tell just by looking at him.

It's a blind buy based on positive reviews and I'm glad this is one of those scents that I am on the hunt for, scents that I haven't smelled before but just playing in my imagination. To my nose, the harmonious blending of the notes produces such a pleasant and exotic aroma. It's scent profile smells familiar and yet unique, idk. There is this fleeting burst of oud in the opening, not even funky, that will quickly mellow down and disappears like a friendly ghost. The rest is a gorgeous masculine fragrance, sophisticated and not ordinary or generic to my nose. However, it sits close to the skin after awhile or maybe I'm just nose blinded. Some fellow reviewers said this is similar to Bulgari Man in Black, which I haven't tried yet but I have V&R Spice Bomb. If that's the case, then BMiB must smell good too. This wonderful juice is great for formal or smart casual get up. Best for evening encounters and cold weather, I am fortunate to have this in my collection. I would say it's unisex but leans a little bit towards the male gender. More of a mature fragrance to me, but a confident young man who knows how to style his get up on the right occasion can easily pull this off as well. Sample first if you're interested. I would give this wonderful juice a 10/10 “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. There is no way this smells of oud or rose and reading all of these deluded comments is starting to make me think I am in some kind of fever dream. This opens up with cinnamon candy/gum with vanillic undertones. Very prominent honey/syrup (is also referenced in the official description. Develops a tonka(coumarin) like tobacco note over the next hour or so. There is a clear cherry nuance, not so much actual cherry as much a cherry scented shampoo. Maybe that is what people think rose smells like? As time passes I get some patchouli leaf and a touch of leather compounds. Is this what people think oud smells like? Notes and name aside this is quite pleasant, not unique there are many similar fragrances out there. Definitely wearable, unisex, and crowd pleasing. Inferior to HdP's somewhat similar Hemingway offering, which costs about the same, but is clearly a notch higher quality and scent-wise. Maybe Pierre Montale wanted to name this Spice dream and was afraid it would be too close to Spice bomb and switched it last minute to oud dream? Who knows, but lets not fool ourselves.

Oud Dream is a fairly linear fragrance – the notes tend to fade over time rather than evolve to reveal distinct stages of development. It is a woody scent with a noticeable, though not overpowering, floral accent. The main note is oud in a woody–spicy interpretation: approachable, bright, and slightly powdery. I think it is similar to the agarwood accord used in Oud Tobacco by the same brand. The composition feels warm and spicy, with a subtle nuance reminiscent of oatmeal cookies – though this does not mean it belongs to the gourmand category. The rose is light and plays second, or perhaps even third, fiddle. It adds a touch of sweetness to the composition without giving it a strictly rosy character. Patchouli sits even further in the background than the rose, acting more as a structural element – I cannot really pick it out as a distinct note. The perfume is fairly versatile, unobtrusive, and calm – if not outright quiet, especially when compared to some of the brand’s other releases. Performance is decent, though slightly below average.
