Oud Fool Roses

One of my fav unisex rose Montale scents that lean on the feminine side. Very smoky, rosy and elegant. I was initially gifted a sample of it by my friend and later purchased a 20 ml bottle for myself from official website. The smell and strength of the perfume is SO worth the price! Montale is killing it! I wouldn't suggest the perfume to anyone under 25, it's too serious in that sense.

Lovely, airy roses dropping petals that ride a soft breeze before eventually settling upon the surface of a cool amber pond. Though cool, this amber turns these innocent rose petals sweetly sexy, the kind of sexy sweetness that only a newly pink rose can impart.🌷

My nr.1 from Montale. Just amazing!

On my skin Oud Fool Roses is a spicy-ambery rose for the majority of the fragrance life. It opens with a very rubbery oud (to me it is similar to the opening of Roja’s Taif Aoud, which I happen to not particularly like). But as it settles it becomes a beautiful spicy rose that is not super sweet, but has ambery jammy sweetness to it with mild spicy oud. The performance is also good. To me it does not smell too similar to famous Roses Musk. One definitely needs to be a fan of rose to like and appreciate this fragrance. It has to be tried on skin as I did not like it on the paper strip and I also did not like the initial opening (so please give it several minutes on your skin before making your judgement). I find Oud Fool Roses to be a versatile fragrance that is equally acceptable for daytime and nighttime, but perhaps a tiny bit more for nighttime. Update: As I got to ware Oud Fool Roses some more I can confidently say that it is not a safe blind buy and will not work for those who prefer mild and mellow scents. As Oud Fool Roses settles, it retains some of its rubbery qualities making it a bit harsh. An absolute unisex, it will be appreciated by those who like to draw attention to their fragrance as this can be rather polarizing. I like it, but I can see how others can find this too harsh.

This perfume combines oud with a classic rose scent, kind of like those cheap soaps from old gift baskets, but it’s actually really nice. It’s definitely mature and dark, with a sexy, alluring vibe. There’s nothing cute about it, just pure hedonism! When it dries down, you can pick up a bit of tangerine, but the potent rose is still the star of the show. I don’t think I’ll buy it, but I can’t deny that it’s good! Am I becoming a rose lover? The French slut perfume you’ve been looking for! 🫦 Update 7/29/26: Still such an amazing rose scent. I love it. It reminds me of Carmina.

Do we really need another Rose Oud from Montale? If you're familiar with Montale, you probably asked yourself this when they launched Oud Fool Roses. I randomly got a sample and decided to give it a try. At first, it seemed like the usual rose bomb I’ve encountered countless times in Montale and other Arabian fragrances. But as I wore it, I was surprised by a burst of tangerine. The rose took a backseat to a very realistic tangerine note. It eventually settled into a musky blend of rose and tangerine, making it more unique than I initially expected.

Oh this was nasty, it might be because covid has damaged my sense of smell, so keep that in mind. The roses pretty much faded within a minute of spraying and what I was left with smelt like a nastier version of one of the nastier Ax body sprays. I tapped out after 2 hours because of the developing headache. A shower wasn't enough to get it off, I ended up dosing my arms in hand sanitiser to remove the smell and even that wasn't quite enough (although I have to put my nose to my arm to smell it now). The hand sanitiser smells better. Oh and after I sprayed it all my husband could smell was that sweet carbonated smell that comes out of a soda can when you crack it for the first time. It was so strong we aired out the entire house for a few hours.

A rose is never just a rose in the hands of Pierre Montale. This fragrance opened up as a rose, coffee (even though it's not listed) and water pop. In the early stages of the dry down the oud deepens the richness of the rose scent which came through as a giant photo realistic bouquet of red roses. As the day wore on that signature rich delicious Montale amber came through and presented itself as my friendly sillage companion for nearly twelve hours. This is a pageant girls dream scent.It is sophisticated, long lasting and yet still very feminine and rosy. The sash has been pinned, the crown atop her head the long stem roses in her arms she takes that winning walk waving to her adoring fans.

Initially the rose is intense, if you're not a rose fan it's might be too much. The dry down though... really getting ambroxan. Don't hate, jury still out.
