Oud Sapparot

I cannot believe the rating on this fragrance. I bought this for My wife at Sephora. First day she wears it she goes to the grocery store and within 30 seconds a woman tells her she smells fantastic and asked what she was wearing. It was new so she legitimately didn't remember the name at the time. Couple minutes later a compliment from a man working at the store comes her way. She politely replied with a thank you. Once she gets in line to pay for a large amount of groceries, a woman literally physically runs at my wife. The woman was overly excited and dramatic and invading safe space to be honest. She says "Please please tell me what that is you have on???" The wife jumped back out of confusion as this lady was doing the most. She continued "I've never smelled anything like that before! I have to have it!!" I wasn't near her during the first 2 but the last 1 I seen the whole thing. I told the lady the brand name but that's it. "It’s called Montale" she actually grabs the wifes hand and thanks her and walks back towards the fruit isle. That's just the first wear. She actually stopped wearing it casually because she was getting overwhelmed from the compliments. Now I've clearly smelled perfume that smells far better than that imo. But for some reason when the scent Sillage hits random people's nose... it just does something different to people. When I first smelled it I would have never thought in 100 years that this would be the compliment monster. And that's honestly an understatement. I don't know how or why it works, but it works better than anything I've ever witnessed.

Rating on this is criminally low. Looks like most people rating it haven't even really tried it. But oh well, looks like we get to gate-keep this one :) Picked up a full bottle of this at a mall in Phuket for my bday. They mentioned it was a Thailand exclusive when launched since Sapparot means Pineapple in Thai and the mix of that with coconut is supposed to signify some of the country's most iconic fruits. Very sexy island vibes. At first sniff its a blast of sweetness but once the oud and leather settle in? Oh mann! Banger. One of the only times I've bought a perfume at "full price" and I am not disappointed. This is special.

This is actually a gorgeous fruity leathery oud. To me this smells expensive. Its not mass appealing, so this is something specific. I really enjoy it though.

I have never seen a less accurate set of reviews for a fragrance in my life. It's almost like most of these guys never even wore it. Here's my review after 5 full wearings of this fragrance. The opening is a really fresh, really juicy pineapple mixed with a powdery essence which gives it a wet wipes kind of feel, which is clean, but for the price, I was waiting for more. Luckily, after 30 minutes, it transforms into this leathery, nutty, and soft take on Montale's standard Aoud DNA with the sweetness remaining from the pineapple. At this point, honestly, it's not something I would generally like, but weirdly, I kept sniffing my hand over and over again. This is one of those Montale fragrances which has that shampoo/deodorant effect on the scent which some associate with it being synthetic, but it's Montale just adding too much % of certain fruit aroma chemicals, in this case, pineapple. They do this because they make scents others will smell on you from a distance. This is why most of their fragrances might smell too harsh close up but genuinely smell amazing for everybody around you. At the end, this fragrance, after the first 6-ish hours, becomes smoother and more vanillic, with a hint of a coconut version of what I described for the opening. Projection is average; longevity on the skin is an easy 18 hours. To be honest, I'm on the fence with this one. It's definitely good, and the composition and changing characteristics are amazing. But I feel like it might be too feminin for everydays wear. 7.8/10

Not a safe blind buy. I wouldn't say this fragrance is true gourmand for those looking for a gourmand oud fragrance like others by Montale, as Arabians Tonka is. It's a mature scent. The pineapple is minimal to my nose in the middle and base, as is the coconut and vanilla. Top notes are a bomb of juicy charred pineapple but quickly fades. The leather and wood are smoky and the strongest and longest last notes, possibly the saffron and cinnamon too although I dont really pick up on these notes. They are all offset and made lighter, less overpowering and a little sweeter by the cinnamon, vanilla and slight creamy but almost undetectable coconut. This is a very unisex fragrance, maybe even slightly masculine leaning. It's not sickly or overpowering as I was fearing. It doesn't screech, but as typical for Oud it is rich, deep, and smells expensive, but all the notes seem to balance well. On skin it isn't the longest lasting, probably 8 hours. It radiates arms length to intimate. On clothes and hair it lasts a lot longer. 12 hours plus. Top notes until it fades to middle and base could be considered slightly medicinal. This is a good evening fragrance or for special occasions. I'm unsure how it will perform in summer as I originally attended. Edit: Layered with Honey and the Moon by Tokyo Milk, or Arabians Musk by Montale and it gives what I was hoping it would.

I wanted to wear this a couple times before writing a review as its' a real intriguing one. I can start by saying this is definetly not for everyone! ... but that doesn't take away from it's charm. The oud and cashmere try to make you take the fragrance seriously, whilst the juicy pineapple and exotic coconut give it a fun exotic twist. The components smell sort of like a tiki cocktail mixed with a luxury shampoo, shower gel or sun spray, so I understand those comparisons. I would say it leans quite feminine and is more of a youthful, coming of age scent. Suited to warm weather, it doesn't project too much and tends to last a decent amount of time. It is a fun summer scent that doesn't take itself too seriously, and would work well at a beach party, a summer beer garden after work or even a tropical wedding setting.

Honestly...this has me excited and reserving my money. But I'm cautious of Montale/Mancera and any fragrance with "Oud" that they make. Typically that's 90% of what you end up smelling and the other notes are just on paper... Same thing with their "Vanilla" fragrances...they rarely contain vanilla. Needless to say...I'm sampling first once it's available...Montale/Mancera are not trustworthy.

The opening is beautiful with a juicy pineapple, with an amazing light smoky/leathery undertone. Sadly, on my skin it quickly dies into a skin scent. Very unusual for Montale, the weakest one from this brand on my collection.

Oud Sapparot kicks off with a blast of sweet, syrupy pineapple—like opening a can of pineapples in heavy syrup. It’s juicy, tropical, and sweet... but don’t get too comfortable, because it doesn’t stick around for long. If you’ve worn a few Montales, you probably already know what’s coming next. Right on cue, that signature Montale shift happens: the oud barges in, bringing with it a slightly smoky, abrasive edge, and saffron-leather that’s loud and unapologetic. It’s that familiar Montale combo—intense and bold. The pineapple lingers faintly in the background for a bit, but slowly fades out. Instead of Montale’s usual sweet vanilla backbone, you get this tropical vanilla-coconut blend that takes over slowly as the pineapple dies down. The result? A kind of exotic dessert vibe swirling in the background. If you're into bold tropical-oud mashups and don’t mind some synthetic edges, this is a fun ride in true Montale fashion. But be warned: the fruit is just the opening act. If you're looking for a soft pineapple scent or expecting a juicy pineapple fragrance all the way through, you might be disappointed.

I have blind bought it. I couldn't find it for testing and I was intrigued. It's okish for a blind buy. It's not a unique and strange smell "that you should smell first". It's your typical montale sweet oud but this time the sweetness has a pineapple vibe. Nothing groundbreaking. Its-a-nice (how would Borat or Mario say)... Leans masculine but a woman can pull this off. Honestly, if you want a better pineapple, go for Aventus & co... even CDNIM has a better pineapple... in my humble opinion. This one has a more fantasy, synthetic pineapple. Indeed, the sillage is a compliment magnet, the sweetness is very alluring. What it reminds me of.... towards the mid it is getting similar to Oud Maracuja.

I don't mind oud - and oud with fruits, and some soft florals can really be amazing. The leather is what RUINED this for me. The pineapple so so so nice and juicy, but overpowered by the nasty,y stale, dark, woody leather. RUINED this scent. Had the leather and saffron been gone - my god this could have been amazing. Yuck. Sent my travel spray right back to Sephora. Also - side bar - I HATE Montale's bottles. It's like a fkn air cartridge for an airsoft rifle.

I got a 2ml sample of it and upon first spray I thought "what the hell?" It's just such a bizarre smell, I don't know if it works as well as it was initially made to. I wander what was the initial Vision for this fragrance. Saffron and pineapple with oud? I don't know...it's just weird combo. And I love Montale perfumes by the way! PS: Never, ever get this as a blind buy.

Meh. This came in TPG’s latest mystery box. Slightly poopy Oud, sweet, fruit. What even is this as the vernacular goes? I am one third through this season’s MB. My and Sebastian’s noses do not align when it comes to summer fragrances evidently. 10/30 have been pretty unpleasant or in no way shape or form unisex. Just one man’s opinion of course. This is definitely a Montal product it is also incredibly generic. Peter94 pretty much sums it up.

This is absolutely horrifying scent. Straight up it hits you with smell of rotten pineapple. Later pineapple fades, and all is left is horrible horrible oud. I like oud in some scents, but this is definitely not the one. Definitely would not recommend as a blind buy.

the opening is horrific it smells like a canal then oud comes up but its oily and stinky oud, blended with a weird bitter pineapple note and leather i dont like it, after it dries down it can be tolerated but the first spray was a nightmare!

Strong oud at the opening, then a bit of synthetic of pineapple and shampoo. It tends to be less aggressive with time and more soft and sweet. Not a safe blind buy.

This one was simply not for me. Was not meant to be. I felt like a ham basting in pineapple rings. Or maybe a Hawaiian burger with a pineapple relish. Another reviwer mentioned pineapple juice spilled on bbq chicken. I cannot verbalize how badly i wanted to wash this off. I usually give fragrances at least a week of wear before judging.... I simply couldn't with this one. Returned next day. When perusing at sephora all they had were travel sizes. No test bottles on display. When enquiring on a full bottle or one i could test spray on paper, i was informed they were pulled from shelves. The travel atomizers were a fluke and should have also been pulled. While purchasing my bottle a worker actually went through inventory and prepped all the remaining travel bottles to be returned to corporate. I thought it was strange. Now i know why. 🤣

Pinaeapple and saffron opening. Fruity and slightly spiced herbal scent. A touch of oud, synthetic leather, and birch follow. Then, a vanilla, coconut, and musk drydown, but it's so faint it's almost imperceptible. At the end, there is still a bitter oud that faintly remains. Poor performance. And I really have nothing to say other than I don't like it at all.

One of the uggliest scent i have ever try, sorry for that but the pinneaple note is super synthetic , and the oud part is jsut dissgusting,a burn tyre , so stinky , dont understand this perfume at all

A pine apple scent that is not in any way similar to Aventus, nice. This one opens with dark and juicy pineapple. It's also a bit spicy and even salty. The first few seconds remind me of Armaf Milestone, kind of a overbearing saltiness that can almost smell rotten but it fortunately goes away in seconds. As the opening fades the pineapple becomes less prominent and instead you are left with a dark, dry, almost bitter woody scent. In the later drydown it smooths out and keeps the darkness while losing the rougher parts. Overall I like the opening and the late drydown but the honestly harsh middle is kind of a dealbreaker to me. Still, an interesting scent that doesn't smell like everything else? Still a win in my book.

Sapparot means Pineapple in Thai, a very important fruit in the culture of this beautiful country. It is used in many rituals and ceremonies, as an offering to spirits, temples or monks. Its yellow color is associated with sunshine, light and joy:Oud Sapparot blends a juicy and full Pineapple, full of sweetness, to the smokiness and harshness of Oud . A fruity Oud, deep but also joyful, playing in a balance between the two ever-present parts, which alternate in a really interesting way, transforming over time into a soft and enveloping symphony. This is very similar to Oud Maracuja, switch passion fruit to pineapple. The fruit note is tart but sweet, light and discrete. The oud is synthetic and clean. Ink like Oud. The musk is the typical heavy Montale musk mix. It's ok if you enjoy Oud. It's a tiny little bit nicer than Oud Maracuja... at least on my skin. But this is not a charmer...not a mass pleaser...smells very niche and Oud centered. A sample is enough for me.

Can’t wait to get my nose on this! I love a good tropical fragrance, unfortunately they usually don’t linger around too long (Virgin Island Water comes to mind..... I’m assuming it’s due to lighter molecules), but maybe because of the oud it will stick around for a good long while. As soon as I try this, I will leave an unbiased comment.

IMO the scent profile is interchangeable with Passionfruodh by Fugazzi. The pineapple in this and the passionfruit in Fugazzi are almost identical. Dries down to that similar oud base but nowhere near as strong.

I like Montale but this is genuinely the most horrid fragrance I ever smelled. Picture a pineapple coconut ice flavored vape. Now imagine it burnt so bad you gag every hit. This shit smells like asshole.

This is fanta pineapple and OUD (not animalic) You will smell the vanilla later on. Its good fruity tropical and oudy. Saffron is also noticeable

Smells amazing, all my favourite notes in a single perfume. The pineapple and saffron surprisingly work really well together.

Why do they have to ruin these with a coconut accord. I wanna try it but so far I haven’t liked any fragrance with coconut.

It looks like someone has already tested this, and if it's a new clone on Creed - Aventus, then it's good for me.
