Pure Love

Two words: BEAST MODE! As a female, this smells unisex leaning masculine, a male may think it to be the other way around. That’s the power of unisex fragrances and what draws us to them. I like it’s masculine edge. I use it to add some oomph to my girlie fragrances, the notes are very “neutral” in that they layer very easily with most other fragrances. It’s fresh but even now in the middle of winter here, it’s totally wearable. Dare I say actually it’s best in the winter? I can’t even pick out specific notes, the vanilla and rose are not noticeable to me but I feel like they act to diffuse the edges of the sandalwood and vetiver. I have a full bottle. Absolutely not what I am usually attracted to, but this time I made an exception. Edit: I realised that perhaps I didn’t explain the scent well enough to be helpful, I do that quite often! This is fresh and warm at the same time, and animalic in a strange clean way. It’s like what skin that’s been wearing a nice fresh rose vanilla woody perfume for several hours would smell like, but straight out of the bottle. The ambergris gives that slight dirtiness, so be warned! Sometimes I just enjoy a whiff from the bottle because I’m too afraid of its beast mode to actually wear it!

This is one of the best Montales I've ever smelled, I have smelled 95% of their line and this doesn't smell like their offerings. The blend here is genius, elegant and simple. It starts of mandarin like vetiver carried by hint of florals then it dries down to vanilla-sandalwood combo, ambergris, and leather. The interesting part is the drydown, the more you chase the smell of leather you will get ambergris, the more you chase the smell of animalic ambergris you will get vanilla-sandalwood making it absolutely majestic just like pure love, the more you understand it the more it gets complex. The closest this I can compare this to is this gives me a unisex Layton vibe and is versatile like Layton. To tell you again this isn't what Montale usually compose, everything is rounded, no hard edges or something animalic and off putting. I was smelling this along with my mom and sister and all we can say after smelling this for the first time is " wow impressive"

I blind bought this fragrance for my girlfriend since she always steals my Montales, and wow I did get pretty lucky this time. It is a very creamy rose fragrance with a hint of a powdery note and the vanilla here is done very well !! It doesn’t come across as synthetic and ate the same time it has a very mass appealing aspect to it. I do found this more suitable for a female than a male it has a lot of vanilla in it and the sandalwood also contributes to that sweet aspect although it’s not overly sweet and still it is a very balanced scent ! It has very good performances 7 hrs longevity with more than avg projection ! It is a compliment getter for sure, very difficult to dislike this scent. I do think it has a very good price range although it’s not a complex scent and still it feels to be a bit oversemplistic sometimes... especially in the dried down. Very good pick ! 8.0/10

I bought an official sample from Montale with four others...needless to say a full bottle is on its way. This will likely replace all the silly sweet designer fragrances. One of the smoothest Montale releases I have tried (I have 22 of them), I do like some of the edgy ones too. This is a sweet sandalwood - vanilla fragrance with touches of fresh roses and suede leather. It does not contain that signature Jam thick rose that other Montale fragrances have (which I also like) but in this one the roses are fresh and they're used to replace the freshness of would be citrus notes, and this rose accord lasts a good while into the fragrance dry down. The roses add freshness first, but then contribute to overall sweetness after an hour or two till the end of its lifecycle. Mind you, this is not a rose heavy scent, as I said it's sandalwood and vanilla for the most part. Lovely stuff.

At first impression, this is a lovely scent on me. I think that this is right in the middle for a unisex scent. I have smelled it on myself and my wife, so we both can easily pull this off without feeling like we are going too far the other way. I personally like it on myself better because I really like the leather accord in here. The subtly sweet vanilla mixed with the sandalwood and leather combo really makes this feel classy. It is beautifully blended, so the rose is definitely present, but it does not overpower the fragrance. I have been wearing it for almost 2 hours and it still has a decent projection to it. I will try to remember to come back and comment on the longevity, but hey, it's Montale, that should not be a problem. I am expecting it to last 8+ hours easily.

Gorgeous initial blast of the sandalwood, vetiver and little bit of vanilla. Leans slightly masculine in the beginning, but I would still very happily wear this as a lady. The rose is citrusy and fresh, giving it an almost spicy edge but very gently. This is quite dry, of course due to the prominent leather and vetiver notes but is blended smoothly with the warm vanilla, some slight amber notes mixed in too. Overall a leather-vanilla scent that’s very unique, stunning! Definitely NOT a fragrance you want to overspray, maximum 2, this projects very loudly. Longevity is average. I’m eager to see how this plays in the colder weather for me, as it does has a cosy element to it but a very successful blind but for me! Adequately named...

I LOVE IT. The Rose is Dominant on this one (Like a LOT Montales frags) but its sweetness from The Vanilla balance it really well. The Vetiver and sandalwood gives me hints of spicyness that reminds me of La Nuit de L'Homme LE PARFUM from YSL. In my very personal opinion if you remove the Rose from This perfume... itll smell like LNDLH LE PARFUM. Longevity and Sillage is a Beast as Pierre Montale ususally achieve. I do get nose-blind after a while but the compliments keep coming.

This smells quite middle Eastern to me, maybe because I smell it on the Saudi Arabian guys that come to my work all the time. It smells very floral and sweet in the opening but then dries down to an absolutely beautiful sweet woody almost bordering on oudy smell. 24 hours after spraying it on I can still smell it radiating from my wrist, honest truth. Fantastic fragrance.

The best niche fragrance for a female partner imo. Next time I'm dating somebody, this will be the third of three fragrances I eventually buy them behind a couple of designers I'm gatekeeping. Smells genuinely beautiful. I would wear this myself, but frankly, I'm not pretty enough to do this fragrance justice. It deserves somebody far more refined and lovely than myself.

Chef's kiss!! Woody, sweet, vanilla. Starts off intensely sweet but dries down to a smooth and well-rounded fragrance off my skin. Great for the cool winter days & nights, and would be nice for date night too. I think it's completely unisex, I would wear it as a man but would also enjoy smelling it on a woman.

WOW. Just...wow. This is SO good. I had no idea I needed this in my life! Just perfectly blended, couldn't even tell you the notes. Nothing screechy or annoying or weird. I would say it's vanilla but it's so fluffy and light. It reminds me of angel food cake.

People have different reactions to smelling this fragrance but in my experience the name is very fitting ,first time I smelt it was like falling in love and women have told me they love to smell it on men. For me this is 10/10

I got this because of ambergris, leather and sandalwood notes. I gotta say this perfume is very pretty, and somehow the scent reminds me of Christmas! Leather is beautiful here. Very interesting blend.

I love this scent!!! I love layering this with Dior Poison Girl EDT. I get so many compliments when I wear that combinations.

Sorry for the long absence everyone. Covid hit me last week, and it's hard to review fragrances when you can't smell! Anyways, I'm back at it today with another fragrance from Montale: Pure Love. Another fragrance I had never heard of before I was browsing Montale's website, what stuck out to me with this one is that the main accords were listed as woody, vanilla, and animalic. Those are all notes that I can appreciate in some forms, so I'm hoping that Pure Love is a winner for me. Let's get into it. Scent: The opening is sweet, floral, and woody. The primary notes I get are rose, vanilla, sandalwood, and vetiver. The strongest of the notes are the rose and vanilla. The rose is what hit my nose first in the opening with a fresh and intriguingly sparkling rose accord. I've never experienced a rose note that I would describe as sparkling, but there is a definite effervescent quality to this note as well as an underlying citrusy tone, which again is unusual but not unheard of for rose notes. Behind the rose lies the vanilla for a heavy dose of creamy sweetness. Nothing unusual or uncharacteristic about it, just the usual vanilla note. Up next is the sandalwood and vetiver. Both are woody notes at their core, but the sandalwood has its characteristic creamy quality, while the vetiver lends a subtle green quality. The dry down is sweet, woody, and warm. The primary notes I get are vanilla, ambergris, vetiver, and leather. The strongest of the notes are the vanilla and vetiver. The vanilla has taken the spotlight in the dry down with the same sweet and creamy vanilla accord from the opening, just more pronounced. Behind the vanilla is the vetiver, which has also grown in strength to become a focus in the dry down with a distinctly dry, dusty, and earthy woodiness. This is followed by the ambergris and leather. The ambergris has emerged from the base to provide the dry down with its signature warm, sensual, skin-line warmth. Lastly, the leather adds an animalic bite in the background, but not too much that it overshadows the other notes or becomes challenging. The leather and vetiver interestingly meld together in the dry down to produce an almost oud-like dark woodiness. Performance: Initial projection within the first hour is very strong and can easily fill a room. Sillage matches that intensity with a dense and heavy scent trail. After a few hours the performance was unchanged. At the 7 hour mark the projection was still at least 6 feet and the scent trail was still easily noticeable. The fragrance didn't become a skin scent until well after the 12 hour mark. When to wear: Pure Love is a fall/winter fragrance made to be worn in the evening. This is what I would consider a special or formal occasion fragrance. Date nights, anniversaries, or anything you'd wear a suit to; that is when you would spray on this fragrance. For the same reason, this is not something I'd wear casually or to the office. Blind buy: I don't really have anything I can accurately compare this to, and I disagree with the comparisons to Bond No. 9's NoMad. However, if you like sweet fragrances with a lot of woodiness, Pure Love could be a good blind buy for you. Final verdict: Wearing Pure Love was quite a journey. The opening was astonishingly more floral than I imagined it would be, and the rose had this striking, bright effervescence that I've never experienced before with a rose note. Admittedly, it was a bit too feminine for me. However, the dry down was more in line with my expectations of a sweet, woody, and masculine fragrance. The performance, as I've come to expect from Montale, was beast mode. Powerful projection and scent trails for at least the first 7 hours, and lasting 12+ hours before fading away into a skin scent. Versatility isn't this fragrance's strong suit, and it's only something that I would wear for formal/special occasions in the cooler months. Mass appeal is fairly high as there's plenty of sweetness to go around, particularly in the dry down, and even though there is some animalic leather, it doesn't reach into the challenging realm. In conclusion, even though I find the rose note in this fragrance fascinating, it makes the opening too feminine for me to consider wearing again. Which is a shame, because the dry down is definitely something I would purchase of full bottle of and wear. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10

Montale Pure Love is one of the latest releases from this French house of many releases. It’s a fairly agreeably sweet and spicy blend that feels more winter-leaning, as I find most Montale/Mancera fragrances do, though it doesn’t immediately come off as something unique or unfamiliar. The note listing is a fairly agreeable blend of rose, sandalwood, vetiver, ambergris, leather, and vanilla, but I get a sort of multifaceted saffron-like spiciness from it that mixes with rose and vanilla. Perhaps it’s the leather/vetiver combo that does that. It’s sweet and spicy but not prohibitively much of either, and the leather and rose remain fairly in the background for those that might have an issue with an abundance of either. It feels hearty and interesting, not too fleeting or fashionable, perfectly unisex and dense and rich enough for the cooler weather. There’s just a touch of powder, perhaps maybe via the ambergris, but it’s not sharp to the point of being annoying. The result feels simple and staple-like. Simple can be great—the recent release Montale Oud Dream only lists notes of rose, patchouli, and oud, and it smells superbly well blended. Pure Love similarly has a pretty familiar straightforward note list—albeit not quite as short as Oud Dream’s—but is just somewhat less great overall. Still a very easy one to wear, though, for those that do not want too much of anything, and want to avoid oud in a winter-leaning Montale/Mancera, in particular. I quite like it but it just doesn’t jump out at me much. Pure Love is sold where other Montales are, including great boutiques like Krystal Fragrance, who included my sample (with many others) with a purchase. It’s the now-standard Montale pricing of $170 for 100ml. 7 out of 10

Móntale Pure Love is perfectly named in my estimation because I am totally in love with this one! It was a blind buy and I couldn’t be happier with it. After my initial concern over having received a bottle that I felt was only half full, a quick bit of research eased my mind. From what I understand, due to the aluminum tube style bottles used, fragrances from this line are shipped just over 1/2 full but you do indeed receive a full 3.3 ounces. The opening is sweet, floral, and a bit fruity to my nose even though there are no fruit notes listed in the scent profile. Within 30 minutes or so, the fruitiness subsides and a beautiful leather and vanilla steps forward mixing perfectly with rich, earthy, and sweet vetiver. The moment I entered the office I was greeted with, “OMG! You smell awesome!” And another coworker observed, “Mmmm... you smell like something sweet and leather. I love it!” This is a powerhouse on my skin with strong projection, great sillage, and incredible longevity. Móntale Pure Love is a well loved leather jacket worn at a campfire. Smoky, leathery, and sweet. Absolutely a new favorite and one that I wholeheartedly recommend!

Pure Love is a fascinating bait-and-switch that opens with a bright and tangy young rose. While rose claims the top spot, the fragrance defies its floral label as sandalwood and vetiver inject a crisp freshness, anchored by a smooth, sophisticated leather. The real magic, however, happens in the transition: after an hour, the airy opening vanishes, leaving behind a sultry, tobacco-leaning leather and ambergris that feels sexy and grounded without ever becoming medicinal or animalic to my nose. It’s a scent of two distinct moods, evolving from a vibrant, bright spark into a deep, moody finish. This is definitely a his and hers fragrance. The performance is improved by overspraying a bit.

Instant love. But it is pure, indeed. Pure, sweet, airy, innocent. Summer day near a candy shop or with cotton candy in your hand. It is a fraction of Miss Dior Cherie (the original release, with dirty, sugary cotton candy accord) but purified and circled by watery notes. It reminds me of Deliria by L'Artisan, too. But Deliria is sweeter and more Lunapark. Pure Love has an interesting leathery background, and though it is sweet and candy-like, upon closer inspection it is "serious". The notes creating the pure, airy and innocent effect are intense and dark even. Such a love verging on obsession.

If you like Montale’s Dark Vanilla this would be a safe blind buy for you. It’s like a powdery lighter version. Best way to describe it is sweet with hits of a woody vanilla mixed with a Smokey leather undertone. At first I admit, it didn’t woo me at all but I knew it never smelt bad. The more I wore it the more it grew on me and is now one of my go to’s for evenings and nights . It’s a major compliment getter. Long lasting and consistent smell lasting hours 8+ and beautiful scent trail.. Good enough for a signature.

Got a small sample of this to test out pure loves pretty decent..on my skin I deff pick up the leather note so I get an interesting sweet leather vanilla combo. I like it but wasn’t totally captivated by it..wish maybe got more of the vanilla, it’s still a really nice scent for a night out sure it’ll draw some compliments, specially in colder weather, the sample will suffice.

Noce woody rather sweet and less sharp scent. What i do find interesting is, how Montale makes coconut out of 'random' stuff, but that the majic of perception. TBH i would name this as oud coconut in a good way: not too sweet, sticky nor self-tanning resemblence. But it does resemble majority scents from late 00s, which were labeled as 'fresh'

nice!!! on me this starts off with an aromatic, herbal edge...then it softens...the drydown phase is initially a bit leathery/oudy but then vanilla and ambergris are more dominant... the last stage (around 8hrs) is pure sweet natural smelling vanilla. Nice offering from Montale!

The opening is the same rose in intense cafe. After a while ambergris is the main player and with vanilla in the background which smoothens the scent. On my skin, it has a bit of fresh and airy aquatic vibes. It’s versatile and can be worn anytime. Well done, Montale.

Very strong oriental fragrance which leans more toward masculine. I’m on my second bottle. Moreover, I find it very easy to wear in the winter. Just don’t overspray..the first rule for montale fragrances

Opens up very floral. You get the burst of rose and a bit of vetiver. Dries down to a nice, sweet - vanilla, floralish - rose and leatherish smell. Lasts 8hours +. And a moderate projection.

Great oriental smell, quite strong!

Very sad and disappointed, got it a few days a go and I thought this was gonna be beast mode loud and very rosy/leathery ! Instead it's a very quiet fragrance totally unisex...opening is very fresh u get this citrusy freshness along with the sandalwood all the time and from time to time the rose comes out surrounded by leather (not a heavy leather) it's a "nice" fragrance doesn't make me feel anything special and mostly upset cause this doesn't last a damn thing...it's like I didn't even put on perfume definitely not the usual montale experience i am used to...

Once I smelled this on a man, and I said I could imagine this on myself, because I felt a dark, sexy feminine side of this perfume. Purchased it, sprayed it, and yikes! On me it's a 100% manly scent, and it's everlasting. Probably the dominant leather causes this. Meanwhile the fragrance became too mainstream, I can smell it on many people.

The animalic smell in this is annoying me alot. This scent is absolutely beautiful i love it, but that animalic smell is just blocking me from giving it a 10/10. So ill give it a 7/10.

Blind buy and is currently my favorite perfume. I'm a girl and I don't feel it's too masculine, and it's a good base for layering. I purchased an open bottle second hand.

Run away!...what a mess, again i've fall in the trap to read the comments about Montale perfumes and try this one. Let resume that as bug spray...a chaotique mix of cheap notes , there is so many home spray that are much better blended that this perfume that there is no reason to even explain more why Montale is a brand to run away from. I just hope never cross the way of one of these people who find that "lovely" or "classy". It's as lovely as deodorizer from the 80's. (AmberGris and Vanilla!?? what a joke )

Pure Loathe for me. I like woody scents that are balanced, this one is a strong of wood. But the combo of wood and something, perhaps the ambergris and/or the leather, triggers borderline nausea in me. I get a bit of rose at first, but it doesn't linger. I don't find vanilla either. It didn't play nice with my skin chemistry. Edit for clarification: no impression of sandalwood or vetiver to my nose, both of which I enjoy.

Not a fan of this one. It opens too masculine for me. It is a bit harsh/bitter/smokey and remains so throughout the wear. Yet it lacks character. Only likeable part is that far in the dry down it gives some nice vanilla patchouli vibes. Still it is not wort it for me, although the performance is good.

Smells just like nivea aftershave balm, a woody rose with hints of eucalyptus. At the dry down I can smell more sandalwood, the smell becomes more woody and a little earthy. For me it is very masculine and heavy.

Very banal. Masculine after shave with a twist. That twist however isn't worth the nice packaging and a 60 euro price tag.

Ouch. Not for me. (Maybe) This has been compared to Bond I Love NY for Her, but I barely sense a similarity. Almost none. I fully understand why others love this. It’s very high quality. Beautifully blended. And it’s possible that once I get to know it better I might also love it in time (that happens a lot for me) on its own merits. But I was hoping for a smell far more similar to I love NY for Her and this isn’t it. On the plus side, though, I find this one a whole lot stronger than the Bond fragrance. I was hoping for that, but sadly, this has none of that wonderful patch or blueberry that I find in ILNYFH. This is very sweet, yes, and pretty animalic. The leather is quite forward. So while I recognize the beauty and quality here, it isn’t matching my expectations. I wondered when I was ordering this if it even could be similar at all... since the notes listed on this one barely match up to ILNYFH. But I trusted the voters here knew something I didn’t, and I made the plunge. Oh well. A very expensive smelling fragrance, however. A good one, for sure. Just don’t expect it to be a close match to ILNYFH! That’s my advice, especially if you’re looking for that “blueberry muffin” thing, or anything particularly gourmand. This isn’t gourmand. UPDATE: So I can’t love this. It’s too masculine, without a doubt. But even on a guy, I don’t think I’d enjoy it. It’s very powdery to me, and just... I can’t explain why, but it’s quite off putting to me. Not my type of fragrance, I guess.

Wow! Very classy, sophisticated unisex fragrance. You can readily tell it's niche quality from the first sniff. It has this fleeting vibe similar to Intense Cafe in the opening. On the mid and the dry down, it somehow reminds me of Mancera Saharian Wind, which was nice. The leather and vanilla notes enhances its sexiness, especially on the dry down. This gorgeous juice has decent longevity and performance. Its nice to have a bottle in my collection plus it's unisex. I can share this with the wifey but ... nah, I don't think she's gonna like it so I'll probably wear it for the most part :) I'll give this beauty a 9.5/10 "Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments" 🙏

Ubfortunately it doesn't smell nice on my skin, it turns a bit sour. I also find it quite masculine in opening, like an asftershave. It becomes sweeter a bit lateron, but i still feel the sour note. I feel no sandalwood, no leather nothing creamy, just some undefined sweetish sourish blend.

Ok so the opening is more manly but the dry down is like a beautiful vanilla that follows you everywhere. The sillage is like no other while remaining close to your skin . Definitely very unique

Elegant sugared rose and fluffy vanilla with leathery and sandalwoody flourishes. Excellent performance. A good unisex outting for Montale.

Unique elegant & magical Smells very expensive, get your self a bottle
