SUMMARY: A moderate projecting, vetiver, and cedar fragrance with some spicy and a soft citrus accord. The fragrance feels classy, clean, dry, earthy, elegant, formal, fresh, herbaceous, high-quality, masculine, mature, natural, sharp, versatile, zesty, and pleasant.

First off I want to say for those who want a fragrance that is VERY season appropriate, this one might be the one for you, depending if this review appeals to you. I really enjoy a few fragrances from Montale. Blue Amber is lobbying for that number one spot. Let's see why Red Vetyver is a solid contender for that number one. Smell: Red Vetyver will instantly remind you of another fragrance provided you have smelled it. The fragrance I am referring to is Terre D'Hermes. The two are very similar with what they are trying to accomplish in my opinion, yet Red Vetyver just does it so much better. The vetiver note in here is just so earthy. Don't get me wrong it is in Terre D'Hermes as well, but the orange in TdH almost wants to "clean up" the vetiver. In RV, however, the vetiver is so dirty and I love that. Some vetiver fragrances have the tendency to go green that I have smelled. Red Vetyver does not follow that path. The pepper and the patchouli keep it very earthy. When I first sampled this, I didn't like the opening, but the drydown won me over. Now that I have owned it for a while and tested it extensively, I can honestly say now that the opening and drydown are equal now in my book. Wonderful smell. Rating: 9/10 Longevity: Montale is no slouch when it comes to making quality fragrances which last a long time. This scent is no different. Red Vetyver lasts about 10-12 hours on my skin any given wearing. No complaints here. Rating: 10/10 Projection: Montale is ALSO no slouch at creating scents that can melt your face off. Their oud scents being the ones that I hear most about which accomplish this feat. Red Vetyver is not quite as loud as their oud scents, but still packs a good punch. I have tested Original Vetiver and Red Vetyver side by side. 3 sprays of OV and 3 sprays of RV. Red Vetyver outperformed OV in all departments. I am not biased toward either house for the record. Both houses are great in their own right. I digress. Red Vetyver projected for a solid 6 hours on me before slowly dying down, but never becoming a skin scent. Rating: 10/10 Versatility: This one is pretty versatile. I wore it in the winter and it just wouldn't quit. I believe this fragrance is meant for the spring. No doubt. I do think, however, that it should not be limited to the spring. You can wear this basically whenever you please. It can hold its own in any scenario in my humble opinion. I was in a niche boutique a few years ago and smelled this on a card. Before I left, I purchased a 3ml decant. That decant lasted me about six months. I know this is categorized for men, but I honestly don't care. It's dark, dry, heavy on the vetiver, epically woody, and liberally dusted in black pepper. The grapefruit is such a nice touch here, making for a really clean opening. Oddly enough, grapefruit is a note that is fairly consistent throughout the wearing, on my skin. It's rare that I find a citrus note last that long. As it fades, the sharp juiciness of it becomes bitter and more like a cross between bergamot and petitgrain. But all the while, dark and mysterious. I like that about this scent. On me, it's mysterious and unassuming. I honestly think that's a big part of it's charm on me. This fragrance really makes me happy. It brings on a sense of calm when I need soothing. It's like a strong masculine hug when I'm lonely. I'm the type of woman that isn't afraid of dark, dry, masculine fragrances. Among other heavy ♂️ hitters, I also have Encre Noire, but I find that one to be have such a high concentration of iso e super that it kind of gives me a headache. I'm sure iso e super is in this formula, but it thankfully doesn't have the same effect. It's definitely a dead ringer for it's predecessor, Terre d'Hermes. And while I adore TDH, there's something about this one that just does it for me. This scent isn't something I'd wear on a date, or out with friends. However, it is something that I very much enjoy when I'm alone, in a mood, feeling witchy, or wanting to be immersed in nature. Sexy, sexy, nature. It's all about the dry down with this one. I'm in love. 😘 Originality 6/10 Longevity 10/10 Versatility / Year round for me. But what do I know? 😉

Okay so I'm pretty seasoned in Montale fragrances now...I've tried a lot of them. Red Vetyver is one of the stragglers after working my way through various Aouds. Yes...I thought to myself...how much can this smell like Terre d'Hermes? Well... ALOT! is the answer. The opening is that gorgeous juicy orange tempered with dry earthy vetiver the spice of pepper and cleanness of cedar. It's a stunning fragrance done very well and it's the age old question..."who did it first?" or more ominously..."Who copied who?" (I don't believe in intentional copying in most cases BTW) well I think this was out in 2008 and Terre was 2006 if I remember correctly? But more importantly is there anything which sets this apart from TdH and the answer could well be starring me in the face. Recently I tried Terre d'Hermes EDP for the first time and pitted it against the faithful EDT. The main difference was that I prefered the 'ever so' slightly boozier, heavier and more fruity quality of the EDP in smell. However performance wise the EDT beat it hands down and the fragrance never changed from beginning to end, just straight delivers. I'd say positively Red Vetyver possesses the great qualities of both! The opening is exploding with orange fruit like the EDP, the bitterness of the EDT is there but it has the transitional drydown from the EDP. That drydown incidentally is really nice and long as I've come to expect from Montale. So Is it worth trading this for Terre d'Hermes? No. That's no offense to this fragrance but even if it lasts longer that has never been an issue for me. How about Montale make a copycat of D&G's the One that lasts 12 hours...then they'd have a winner on their hands!

As to me it's like an Ice & Fire in one vial. Terre d'Hermes? Perhpas only when to judge both very briefly. But RV - this is quite another scale, and it seems like Terre d'Hermes is loosing... People around do pay attention to this, and the Owner of this Scent will share deserved success with this Aroma. It has attracting power - nothing to say! Seems like easily would fit man & woman. After sprits it begins sparkling with all colors - Vetiver, Grapefruit, Pepper.... And after some time suddenly appear like from nowhere Cedar & Patchouli in the lucent cloud of Peruan balsam. And all this beauty shining, playing by the edges, like in kaleidoscope. And it's playing with you, giving new turn of impressions! It comes to mind some comparison with mysterious Forest after the rainfall, with wet & odorant evaporations coming up from the Trees and Earth, melting in the hot air of Sunset – that’s the feeling like. Supposed to be evenly good for every of 4 times of the year -and every time you’ll be gifted by this Aroma with new impressions! it‘s suitable for any occasion, and it is easily acceptable by most of people. The difference is in the measure of exclamations and delight you would hear around! Only once I noticed negative report from one very malicious man that is completely unfair to this Scent. It’s like some spiteful hissing at Queen of Beauty by the reason she is beautiful.... But let’s keep it aside! This is just splendid – just keep trying and get inspiration from this Scent – it’s just exactly created for that!

i found a shop, let's say the only shop that sells Montale frangrances. when i found this shop, i tried testing it on the paper. Montale's Red Vetyver is pretty similar to Terre D'Hermes i love the smell of these two, but i dont wanna test on my skin becoz i was wearing a fragrance that day. so at the 2nd visit, i went to Montale shop first. i tried Red Vetyver on my skin (only one spray on my right wrist) and then i went to another perfumery which took around 15 minutes of walking distance and tested Terre D'Hermes on my left wrist and the lady did two sprays! I found both Red Vetyver and Terre D'Hermes works fine to my body chemistry. Both are pleasant scents but Terre D'Hermes fades faster than Red Vetyver. One spray (Red Vetyver) with a 15 minutes gap. againts 2 sprays (Terre D'Hermes). i found that Red Vetyver is the winner for both projection and longevity, solid 12hours plus! and the real beauty in Red Vetyver is the dry down, the scent of woodsy and earthy vetiver keeps hanging all day! the Testing Paper which i sprayed on with the Red Vetyver in the first day still smells lovely! So after another week, i went back to that shop and i grabbed Montale's Red Vetyver 100ml, and they gave me a free 20ml travel size Sprayer which is really cool, i can transfer some of the juice from the 100ml bottle. Plus, yes plus! the guy gave me samples to try on. Montale's Black Aoud, Greyland and Aoud Leather. Le Labo's Vetiver 46 and Santal 33 samples as well! Double Thumbs up for Montale's Red Vetyver! it is a Rockstar!

have tested this one a few times, a very bright opener definitely is the way of terre de hermes., this one has better projection and just seems to be a stronger version of that fragrance, there are some slight differences but overall if you like terre , you may love this one. I find myself wearing this one more than terre and I used to wear that frequently. I still love terre and this in no way is a knock on that fragrance because I consider that to be a masterpiece..montale overall , their scents seem to be much stronger with the same application with all their fragrances I have tested. so for the price this might not be a bad value..i will just call it terre de hermes on steroids. this is a great fragrance I read where someone mentioned two sprays, that is about right, you need about 4 to 6 from terre to get the same type of projection, this also may last longer so something to consider. I am not really sure I think this is a better smell than terre, I do like the softer dry down that terre has, this strong of a fragrance might be a little off putting if you went too heavy, it is strong...so if you just buy the fragrance for the opener? it is a toin coss all considered this is just more concentrated perhaps, but I certainly would not throw my terre away. check It out though, order samples of each and compare, then you can make the call.i love them both, they are both gorgeous scents.i don't think you can go wrong either way.thumbs up.

One of my most recent purchases from montale. Montale is my favorite niche house for a reason they last and project and very well made. At first spray i have to agree it reminded me of terre d hermes edt. ill be honest i did not get the wow factor as i smelled it before in terre d hermes which i do have as well but red vetyver is a little peppery and earthy with hint of spice at dry down. this does not remind me of spoiled oranges by the way as which i do in hermes. red vetyver smells of first class squeezed oranges/grapefruit with pepper and spice makes the scent a lot warmer and not bright the sort of vibe i find in terre d hermes edt. red vetyver is more sophisticated and more well made. the main question is? if you have tdh is it necessary to buy red vetyver IMHO if youre a collector absolutely for a non collector no as you wont appreciate it. I describe red vetyver as the more refind and sophisticated version of terre d hermes. If youre thinking of getting tdh might as well get this one for a bit more you wont be disappointed. my rate longevity 10/10 10 plus hours sillage above average 9/10 easily a ten i give it a 9 does project for hours. uniqueness 8/10 a little low score because of the similarities with tdh. overall smell 10/10 no questions here stunning and perfect. price vs quality 10/10 worth every penny versatility all seasons love motale does not dissapoint me thus far.

#1315 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This puts a lot of people in mind if Terre de Hermes, and I get it, though to my nose this is more distinctly woody and bright. But it also reminds me of another fragrance I was wearing yesterday, and I realized this is what you'd have if you took the oud out of Louis Vuitton's "Ombre Nomade." I first bought this pre-Covid, before I joined Fragrantica, so never reviewed it, and just picked up a new batch, which is happily unchanged. Now, 1313 fragrances later, I still say this is a top ten scent that everyone should own. Incredible quality at a great price, even though I hate metal cannisters (It's why I have more Manceras than Montales). And I can definitely tell the difference between this and Terre, which I gifted to someone else. I just wasn't a fan. The rosiness of the pelargonium just whispers, "eldercare facility" to me. And the flint smells like a dirty tile floor, in the "eldercare facility." To my nose this is a peppery, balsamic, vetiver scent, very heavy on the pepper and balsam. Good value. All day longevity, strong projection. Leans masculine. Not for tight spaces. Perfect for outdoor, cold weather wear. Something I'd wear to a snowball fight.

A friend graciously sent a generous decant of this fine fragrance my way a few years ago. My initial thought was that it does smelled similar to Terre d'Hermes (one of my favorites) but with a bit more pepper and it lacked that gorgeous orange note. Still, I felt Red Vetyver was really nice and performed just as well as TdH on my skin. If it weren't for TdH I would purchased a full-bottle in a heartbeat - just loved TdH's orange-vetiver blend a bit more, and owning Red Vetyver seemed a bit redundant. I love the fragrance and could see easily how some folks would prefer this one over Terre d'Hermes. Fast forward 3-years and I just finished the last drop of my decant, after having shelved Terre d'Hermes this year, and finding that I now preferred the scent of Red Vetyver. Go figure! Perhaps I'll go back to preferring TdH in a year or two, but right now I prefer RV. Both are great fragrances! Performance is very good in that Red Vetyver lasts an honest 8-hours and projects slightly above average (really kicks the first 90-minutes) on my skin. Overall, just a terrific gentleman's scent and I'm ordering a bottle as I write this review.

Red Vetiver is a very nice cologne. what's remarkable is how light and fresh this iteration of a vetiver is. it has a moderate to strong sillage, with very good longevity. it didn't remind me of Terre d'Hermes until I saw the comments here. my 2021 batch of Terre edt lasts over 8 hours on my skin, but is more subtle at the end of the day than Red Vetiver. however, in my opinion, more powerful and longer lasting does not always equate to "better". there is something unmistakably classy about Terre. I like it more because it is not as loud, and smells like it has higher quality ingredients. TdH is also more complex to my nose, with a multifaceted dry down. Don't get me wrong, Red Vetiver is a great cologne, but if I had to choose I'd pick the Hermes all day. ultimately it's a matter of personal preference. choose the one that speaks to your heart and nose! Terre d'Hermes edt is 10/10, perfect cologne. I would rate Red Vetiver 8.5/10 or 9/10. it's 100% worth trying, and also blind buy worthy if you like vetiver. you can buy a decant at fragranceNet for a few dollars. give it a try!

This is like Terre'd Hermes, but better. You get this patchouli hint that just evokes this fantasy vibe, while still giving you the big boss smell like Hermes. I would say this is suitable for all seasons and it's good both for day and night, since the patchouli gives this one a bit of flare. If you are a mature man, looking for a fragrance that has both serious and fantasy vibe, this is it, hands down. Very wearable, elegant, price is fantastic. Strong projection and longevity. Unfortunatelly this also makes it a bit nauseating if you overspray. Still would recommend. 9/10 for the nausea, but that's just me. (for my own reference, the patchouli makes the effect of sparkles, and that's what's giving this fragrance the fantasy vibe, it's like faires. Also, the fragrance has slight medicinal hint what makes it feel a bit boujee and it ties the sparkles back to the elegant vibe from vetiver)

Don't overlook this perfume if you are a woman! I tried it and found that there was a sweetness underlying the vetiver and woods that makes it perfect for a hot summer's day. I felt as if I had been transported to the rolling western hills of North America where the scent of the sage in bloom mixes with the scents of grasses growing and breezes whispering through the evergreen trees. Twelve hours after I sprayed just a trace on my arms the wonderful scent still surrounds me. While it would be perfectly suitable for a man, women who are looking for scents that aren't floral should see if 'Red Vetiver' suits them. This is the second of Montale's perfumes that I have bought. My first was 'Full Incense', another scent designed for men but intense and interesting on women's skin. I'm sensing a pattern here and will be trying more of Montale's perfumes.

I just tried 'Terre d'Hermes' the day before and yes they are almost exactly the same, but this is much stronger, a bit spicier, less mellow and less appropriate (in my opinion) for as many environments. This is what you wear when Terre d'Hermes isn't doing enough for you and you want to be even louder. Literally smelled it on myself all day 10+ hours and it hardly changed a single bit. Terre d'Hermes is much more mild, relaxed and overall more appropriate for more situations (work environment, for example). Also I will say Hermes is more unisex, I felt comfortable wearing it and did not feel that it made me stand out in anyway. Whereas Red Vetiver is very masculine, very sharp and very strong. Overall I really love it and think it's a great release from Montale. 8/10

I never was a big fan of vetiver, but this is amazing. I guess I really am not a fan of green fragrances more so than vetiver, but there is something mesmerizing about Red Vetiver. When I wear it I feel so elegant. Like I should put on an Italian suit and head out for a night on the town. There is a richness to this that makes it stand out. The smell is strong, but nothing is overpowering or out of place. Red Vetiver also seems very manly to me. I have a hard time seeing a woman in this. As all Montale the silage is excellent. My only complaint is it only last about 6 hours on my skin. I don't know if I just overlook the pepper once the vetiver wears off, but every time I wear Red Vetiver I have this amazing vetiver scent that just falls off a cliff at about 6 hours.

-Grapefruit/lemon top -Same vetiver mid as TdH -Creamy woody dry down -7/22 batch code - EDIT 4/23 Casual, inoffensive scent, weak performance compared to other Montales. The citrus note sticks around for a long time with this one, looking forward to wearing a more macerated bottle in some heat this summer. Prefer the TdH parfum personally so far & pricing from discounters seems similar. If this one doesn’t get stronger (my TdH parfum has...) Red Vetiver will be a one & done bottle I think. EDIT - Performance has improved & I for sure go anosmic quickly to vetiver so I'm sure others smell me from 2-4 sprays to my chest. The magic with this is in the basenotes rubbed into my skin via transfer to <-> from my motorcycle jacket to the crook of my elbow. Love this stuff!

While at first sniff Red Vetiver and Terre d’Hermès may seem similar, a closer look (or rather, a deeper inhale) reveals quite a few differences. Montale’s creation steps away from the minimalist signature of Ellena’s work. At the same time, it also avoids the overly complex and ingredient-heavy character typical of many Montale perfumes. Instead, Red Vetiver strikes a perfect balance — bold, distinctive, and full of character. It’s undeniably elegant and versatile enough to suit almost any occasion. Personally, I’ve found Red Vetiver to be the richer and more intriguing of the two, which is why it has proudly held a place in my collection for nearly nine years now. My rating: Highly recommended! Awesome fragrance. So much like Terre D'Hermes that it would be redundant to have both. Can enjoy the fragrance with almost every breath for the first 3 hours, frequent whiffs thereafter. I applied 1 ml of my 2 ml sample at 7 AM, worked all day, went to Sephora at 6 PM, oversprayed myself like a dufus with a cacophony of fragrances to the point of nausea. Then, after 2 hours when all the others faded, I smelled the refreshing Red Vetiver breaking through, which I then continued to smell periodically until the next morning. Total longevity was 24 hours. Received a compliment while wearing. Good projection. Perhaps will replace Terre D'Hermes in my collection when that is depleted. John 3:18

This one is a really impressive offering from Montale. I have sampled most of their line and this is absolutely top 5. There's a certain synthetic-hairspray element to a lot of the Montale fragrances that Montale devotees will be familiar with, but it isn't present here. What's most remarkable about this fragrance is that it manages to be simultaneously fresh, with a nice citrus top, and surprisingly evocative, deep, and rich, with wonderful vetiver and woody notes. It's a really perfect combination of just a few notes in the right proportions. It IS similar to TDH, but, this is better in my opinion-- a more modern, youthful formulation of a similar scent.

Fabulous stuff. Night and day from the former gold standard for vetiver, Guelain's Vetiver. It takes command immediately from the first spritz of grapefruit and vetiver and just glows. It lasts for at least 6 hours on my skin. It's pungent, but it can't really offend anyone because hey, it's only vetiver, the emblem of "traditional scent." I blind bought this, relying on the interviews here, all of them better than mine. No one is lying either; this is a fabulous scent. I know nothing about the Terre d"Hermes scent, so I don't know how it compares. But I bet it's more expensive than the Montale, so I have no reason to race right out to discover it.

It would be impossible to review Red Vetyver without also mentioning Terre d'Hermes. This was a blind buy for me, with the promise of a longer lasting, niche version of my beloved TdH. I'm glad to say it delivers on my expectations...Red Vetyver delivers a richer, denser and longer lasting experience than Terre d'Hermes while remaining very similar. The opening is boozy - almost whiskey like - and the drydown retains the cedar and vetiver combo of TdH but spices it up with black pepper and patchouli - the result is something denser and more substantial. Longevity and sillage are very good - definitely worth a try for any vetiver fan.

As for different ingredients, that guys under me are fighting, I have found out that Butylphenyl methylpropional (missing ingredient in new batches apparently) is carcinogenic according to EU law since May 2022. Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (another potential missing one)on the other hand is a well known allergen and its restricted to place product with this one on EU market for instance since August 2019. This might be the issue, and if this is so, then I am glad its reformulated. But anyway its just basic google stuff, no inside info or anything, just my add to the discussion.

My bottle of Montale Red Vetyver arrived this afternoon--you can read my review below--okay, it's the read deal since I have over 40 Montale/Mancera fragrances, but I was surprised to see the name changed to Red Vetiver on the packaging. When did this happen? I have been using a 15ml decant since 2014 and I clearly recall the name being Red Vetyver back then. The name in Fragrantica's database is Red Vetyver, yet even they show the newer Red Vetiver packaging. Should Montale Red Vetyver and Red Vetiver be listed separately even though they're the same fragrance?

As much as I LOVE Terre d'Hermes EDT since its introduction in 2006 and feel sentimental towards it, this fragrance just smells fuller, richer, stronger and longer and very very similar to Terre. Honestly, it reminds me of how great Terre smelled at the beginning, before beeing reformulated and dissolved. But in my opinion it is not so smililar to Pure Parfum which has its own individual character. It is more like Terre d'Hermes EDT Intense (which in reality doesn't exist). It is a great super elegant, classy and with great peformance. I recommend it strongly.

Grapefruit vetiver and a little earthy it smells very unique...in my opinion it’s very different to terre d’hermes Grapefruit is very prominent and it basically makes this whole fragrance I can see how this could be a little offputting off of the earthiness but it goes away and dries down more woody Performance is great, especially if you get some heat on it 8-10 hours with pretty loud projection Get a sample I blind brought it I won’t say it was a success but I’m glad I have it for sure it’s a little situational so I don’t wear it as much I would like too

Manly, yes, but I like it, too. It is definitely a unisex fragrance. I tried a lot of Montales and this was the one I ultimately purchased. Red Vetiver is hot and spicy, with no sweetness at all, and dries down to a lovely, grassy vetiver that rivals the essential oil or absolute. I agree with the comparisons to Terre d'Hermes, but there is an off-note in that one that is not present in Red Vetiver. Terre also fades quickly, whereas Red Vetiver lasts 10+ hours and stays strong and true throughout.

Another epic win blind buy, while I was already a big fan of Terre d'Hermes, unfortunately both EDT and pure parfum didn't last long on my skin so I decided to give Red Vetyver a shot. My bottle arrived this morning (Extra Concentration) and I applied only two sprays on both sides of the neck, I'm still getting whiffs of it as I'm writing this review 12+ hours later. This one is excellent, a far better Terre with outstanding longevity and very good projection. A true head turner!

An excellent Terre d'Hermes alternative. Similarly Citrusy opening, steering towards a mainly Woody and Vetiver scent with Citrus and hints of Pepper. Suprisingly Vetiver note is less pronounced and not as smoky as TdH, and it's missing the Orange note that I get from TdH, and Montale is maybe slightly more Woody. But give them 30 minutes and it's near impossible to tell them apart. Good everyday choice. Also has that Monster Montale longevity and good sillage.

Red Vetiver is excellent. Don't think of it as a clone, think of it as an interpretation of a beautiful category of vetiver fragrances. It has far more attitude, longevity, and sillage compared to similar fragrances (eg Terre dHermes). I love both for different reasons. One is classy and one is brash. Both are excellent and serve an equal purpose in any modern man's collection. Edit: it's the Peru Basalm for me, but I also love that powerful, earthy vetiver.

Finally got to try this one and, as expected, I have found the resemblance with Terrre d'Hermes from the first seconds. From the distance they appear to be undistinguishable, but up close I can sense how synthetic the Montale is when compared to Hermes. In the opening there is a metallic note that fortunately doesn't hang for long. Besides that, orange and woods. Linear and good. Nearly as good as Hermes. 8/10

First I absolutely hate terre D'hermes ...but this one took the dirty orange vibe ...toned it down and made it stunning ..red vetiver is so stunning ...beats encre noire sport as I believe it's more mature and sophisticated and even for a vetiver scent I. Think it's not boring ...I'm so happy I found this one it's jumping to my top 5 very soon Its great for all seasons from a summer night or a winter day

Reviewer below claiming this was reformulated has exactly one review on here - that one. Take that for what it's worth. 7/22 batch performs very well on my skin & clothes. Took 3+ months to open up but it's 2sprays to the chest & 2 to the back of the neck for all day run. Layers very well with mancera vetiver sensuel. Grown up DH2020. Laid back TdH. Fits my personality, so I wear it often.

@echtelion He has 3 reviews, they all talk about "batches" & his red Vetiver review starts "Beware!" so I'm not too moved by his statement. Maybe it is weaker, my bottle performs above average for the $70 I spent & I'll be repurchasing when I run out. I think it's possible for a fragrance to be too strong & I think that RV performance fits it's scent profile. Not a fact, just an opinion.

Yeah this is a banger. I can definitely see how it directly competes with TDH; heavier on the vetiver and doesn't have that nice flinty touch that really makes TDH, but you'd really be safe to grab either if you're into loud citrus and vetiver. Hopefully grabbing a bottle soon. Weirdly situational example, this would be a really dignified scent for anyone that works in hospitality.

I am in enraptured by this perfume!! While some may say that they are displeased by the scent profile’s linear nature, I actually quite enjoy it. The unique scent of vetiver contrasts well with the zing of grapefruit and ethereal nature of balsam. This is carried throughout the entirety of the perfume’s performance, and is the reason why I felt in love with it in the first place.

after a long time I buy and wear a men's perfume... Please don't compare it to any version of Terre d'Hermes.... but not because it is mainstream or niche..., simply because this is 10 times better and more pleasant. I won't comment on the incredible performances... but to buy a terre d'hermes at an incredible price... get close to the niche and it's a nice way to start. 10/10

Love this one. To me, the composition is very simple smelling. It smells like you took dried grass, or vetiver, and doused it with pure grapefruit juice. The opening is pretty grapefruit heavy, but as that evaporates out over the first hour, the vetiver shows up and balances out the citrus. And that's, to me, a really nice smell that lasts for hours on end.

I tried a sample of Red Vetiver this evening and I am in love. It does smell a lot like Terre d'Hermes but a bit rougher. The dry down is beautiful with vetiver being the main accord followed by citruces. I love vetiver and I love this fragrance. I think it will work well in the fall and winter. I am getting a full bottle for sure, soon.

Beautiful sharpness, freshness together with sweet timber and spice. Deeply layered delicious notes of refreshing vetiver with hints of conifer, elegant citrus and Oriental spice, with some marine notes as well. Definitely can pass for a unisex. No, it is not identical to Tierre d`Hermes. Gorgeous scent by Montale.

Better version of Terre d'Hermes IMO. After I tried it a few times, Terre is no longer my favourite, which surprised me quite a lot. The main advantage of Red Vetyver over Terre is what is going on 3-4 hours after application. RV smells much better than Terre in it's heart and base, as heads are very similar.

Super good scent, likely will buy a full bottle soon. The cedar I think gives it a little extra lasting power and projection. Never got much of the citrus but the pepper is a lovely touch. Scent 9/10 Longevity - Still going strong after 6 hours. Stillage (scents are quiet on me) - 5/10 Overall 8.5/10

The notes mentioned in montale website is different from here, seems like this perfume have more notes than mentioned here. A Great perfume and can feel the quality here for sure. Opening is all Heavy grapefruit and pepper then later settles to be more mature terre d hermes type of vibes , love it ♥️

Nose Note #372 Very much like Terre d'Hermes and Mancera Vetiver Sensuel. I love it! Citrus, vetiver and a little pepper. Brighter than Terre, but feels a little simpler. I don't get a huge kick out of performance, I think Vetiver Sensuel is stronger. Still great. I can recommend it to anybody. 9/10

I built my own 5 piece 2ml sample set off the site. This is probably my favorite! I think more unisex in my opinion because though it is quiet woody to me it still has a bright aspect throughout. Im a newbie so sorry for the lack of descriptors. Def get citrus, dried herbs, and cedar.

This is it. I finally found it. A Vetiver fragrance that smells like Vetiver. Woody, earthy, musky, manly. I used to wear Vetiver essential oil (not because I’m into the who essential oil alternative medicine stuff, I just liked how it smelled). This holds true to the name.

High quality intensly masculin classic professional scent. Good quality but the citrus is a little bit synthetic. It reminds me of a creation of a french indie fragrence that is not on fragrantica (La Bastide des arômes: the mineral-woody fragrence if i remeber corretly)

A more wearable version of TDH, less harsh during the opening and a bit more refined. It does project strongly for the first 2 to 3 hours, then it turns a bit more subtle. Longevity is about 6-8hrs. The more I wear it the more I enjoy it. A must have for any collection.
