Rendez-vous à Paris

I bought it last year after a sudden inspiration; they sprayed it on my wrist in the store and I instantly said, "I want it, I'll get it right away." I love the rhubarb note, and the pairing with pear and tuberose is an interesting accord that takes center stage here. Making such a carnal flower also fresh and juicy gives the fragrance a nice boost of modernity and lightness. It's one of those Montale fragrances that differs slightly from its classic olfactory signature; it lacks that intense hint of Arabian musk and is more sparkling and graceful, yet intense and quite flirtatious. As other users have mentioned, it's very reminiscent of YSL's Mon Paris, but that is lighter and more aquatic; Rendez Vous a Paris is more full-bodied and intriguing. Extremely feminine, a fragrance suitable for all occasions and any time of year. I've used it a lot because it's pleasantly balanced and never overpowering, even when working closely with the public. The only flaw: compared to other Montale scents like Rose Musk, Arabian Tonka, and Mukhallat, this one fades quickly. After four hours, it's already a skin scent, or something like that. In fact, I tend to carry it in my bag for a refresher after lunch. Overall, it gets full marks.

Rendez-vous à Paris by Montale is a great calm and floral fragrance that can work well for casual situations in the colder seasons as it dries down into a soft powdery and musk notes that smell incredible so overall the notes in this fragrance mix well to smell like someone with a soft personality. Just like any Montale fragrance, they are priced well for a niche fragrance with this one being $144 from the Montale store so it is an amazing fragrance for price value. Montale is known for its amazing longevity and this fragrance is no different with this going on to last about 12 hours on my skin and can keep its amazing floral notes going on the whole duration of the fragrance. The projection while not as impressive as Arabian Tonka still projects far and still has the power to fill a room when you use it. Overall this is an amazing purchase for its price value. Beautiful! Nothing like traditional Montale fragrances. Reminds me of Joe Malone English pear and Freesia

What I love about Black Aoud is the chaotic blend of notes it possesses—intense oud, robust roses, and potent patchouli. The drydown reveals a lovely rose oud, but it's still quite a mess. The oud is pungent, and the rose is overpowering. It's an unapologetically powerful fragrance. Apart from a few exceptions, I don't think Montale handles scents like this one well. I have Maison Margiela's Beach Walk on one hand and Rendez Vous a Paris on the other. Although there are few similarities between them, I can sense Beach Walk being airy, like an orchestra playing in a theater. On the other hand, Rendez Vous a Paris is noisy and a complete mess, but not in a good way. I now know that only a few Montale fragrances are worth it; the rest are redundant. If you want a calm and floral fragrance? Montale isn't the right choice. But if you want powerful oud and roses? Montale is the best.

At first smell, it is a really clean and easy-to-wear fragrance. The dominant notes are definitely rose, musk, and pear. It smells like a French palace garden. It is marketed as unisex, but I would say it leans slightly feminine. However, as a guy, I still enjoy wearing this fragrance. If you dress for it, maybe with something a little fancy like a suit or a blazer, you can easily pull it off because it is not a completely feminine scent. Performance is okay. You can expect at least 5 hours of longevity on skin, with moderate sillage. Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10 Scent: 6.5/10 Price: 8/10 Total: 7.1/10

Rendez-vous à Paris is not typical Montale. It aligns closely with the latest releases of fresh fruity perfumes with pear and rhubarb. The opening is similar with Rose Velvet Givenchy. Overall, it is trendy and modern scent.

Pleasant rose oil and patchouli fragrance. Long lasting.

This is a different Montale, not so easy to characterize. It is rose centered but the rose only vaguely resembles that of the more known Montale and Mancera and the base, while being vaguely sweet, it's not reminiscent at all of works such as Intense Cafè, Roses Vanille and the likes which I guess it's refreshing. It acts like a mix between Montale classic style, a Jo Malone photorealistic zesty fragrance, and a base of classic French perfumes, floral, musky and sophisticated with just a touch of ambergris. Before describing the scent note by note, I would like to add that it is strangely evocative, like the smell of an old noble palace, those huge ones with open courts full of flowers, fresh air and lots of gesso (chalk). The chambers of a noble woman come to mind, a "dama" or "donna" from the late 1700, sitting at her toelette pampering herself, in the air the smell of the fresh flowers adorning her room, the "gesso" from the walls, the rose waters from her bath, and all the zesty water with which she continously refreshes her precious hands, in the back the strong earthy smell of home made remedy, a faint vapor from her toiletres and makeup...powder and talc, and some good fruits always on display for her to reach. Now the lady could very well be a French one, as the name implies...preparing for a randez-vous with the King himself! Maybe someone like the Duchesse de Pompadour. For some reason though, this smells more italian to me, had they truly amped up the pheromonic ambergris this could have been a concoction made by Caterina Sforza herself...highest mistress of Imola and Forlì, she had a penchant for the black arts and alchemy, creating many elixirs, cosmetics and perfumes; I have read a copy of her "experimenti", and she was on to something good, although for something that resambles modern perfumery we had to wait for Catherine de' Medici, the actual Italian Queen of France from 1547 to 1559, she too was in to magic, alchemy and beauty concoctions, exporting the arts to France where they had much more success. Now this new Montale has this vibes, but I wish the ambergris would have been more strong. The perfume is bitter, zesty, earthy and clean, but also fruity, floral and very powdery, not powdery like usual talc or iris or violet flowers, it's a mix of musks and powdery notes which creates something very classy, but algid and composed, not so girly and optimistic as usual, and not so opulent as usual Montale/Mancera. It's effortlessly elegant, just like the Parisienne style and of course would go really well with a little black dress, just to fit the theme...I guess they succeeded where Zara x Jo Malone Captivatingly Paris failed (even having similar notes of pear, rose and musks). Personally when I smell it in the air I am more inclined to think of buttoned up taffeta collars creating a see/not see effect on the breast of a young Mademoiselle, puff sleeves, historical dresses in the most precious fabric, a Lucrezia Borgia style more so then modern French but it is easy to incorporate in to that effortless style. Having prefaced my review with such imagery one could guess it is a good one, but in truth I don't like it all. On me it takes a bitter and harsh turn, with too much ginger root and patchouli, to the point that the flowers suffers from such juxtaposition. The closing musk gets strong too, too much harsh. On paper it's much more beautiful so I guess it just doesn't work on my skin, I am testing it for about a week but the result is always disappointing. This is what I pick up on paper: it has a strong fruity opening of crispy and crunchy pear, but more fresh then caramelized or juicy, the rubharb is very tart and fruity, without acidity or herbal character. Personally I don't find their mixing togheter resulting in a strawberry facet, nor I think the pear is particularly sweet. The opening is long lasting and gives way to a crystallized floral heart, made of pink and white rose petals, only lightly resembling the usual Montale round and fruity sweet rose, in here it is much more delicate, and dewy to the extreme! The rose petals are accompanied by light white flowers, I think green jasmine and very clear, diaphanous lilly of the vally (and something more lemony, could it be linden blossom as I read in a Fragrantica editor review or maybe magnolia?); they are not soapy or powdery but simply clean, radiant and glowy and very lightly heady, without a strong sensuality but very feminine, they have a mature allure. Ginger root is zesty and it mixes with some of the rubharb creating a lightly sour effect. On my skin that is ruined by the patchouli which is very herbal, green and unruly, too much bitter and earthy, just like the Italian "experimenti" of which I talked before. On paper the blend is only lightly earthy, and it soon becomes more warm; the base of musk and powdery notes warms up, very classy and elegant, more refined then the usual strong Montale musk, resambling something of cosmetics. There is some ambergris but very light, it adds something warm and carnal but unfortunately on my skin it is entirely lost, I wish they added more of it... lightly sugared vanilla softens the base even more, and it is what remains the most in the proper dry down togheter with a light rosiness. It is not the intense woody vanilla of others Montale, in here it is very fluffy and sugared, just as declared in the notes. The fragrance is very strong, a few spray will suffice, and actually overspraying ruins it altogether, making it bitter and harsh. It lasts for seven to eight hours on me, dry down remains until night, and it projects strongly for the first hours, fading in to moderate. I would consider it unisex, but feminine leaning. As usual great packaging, the best to preserve fragrances and with a mad, modern alchemist twist about it, the noise of the stopper is iconic!

I love Attrape Raves by LV and also enjoy Mon Paris, I feel like this is a combination of those two, which is great because Attrape Réves is pretty expensive and this is a really good alternative with good lasting power.

I am not sure about this. I don’t know if that’s it does worth for Montale house. I also find it more feminine, and if I would have known it, I would prefer to buy Rendezvous a Milan. We ll see.

It is a potentially pretty fragrance that in my humble opinion is ruined by patchouli/ ginger/ ambergris--one of these notes, or their combo, that are making the scent stifling and too heavy.
