Rendez-Vous Chez Harrods

Never been the biggest fan of the Montale fragrances but this one is superb Certainly a winner for those who love amber and leather fragrances, the Oud certainly peeks through as well but in a good way Was given a tester on a recent visit to HBeauty and both myself and the mrs love it Ended up getting a bottle which she has now swiped :(

My Oh My. I'm just going to put it simply... Caramel, sweet, gourmand, deliciousness. 5 compliments from people in 1 day and it lasts atleast 24 hours on skin on clothes it stayed on for a month and i can still smell it... Best Montale IMO tied with arabians tonka.

Rendez-Vous Chez Harrods certainly is a good fragrance for the lovers of deep warm middle eastern amber and leather fragrances. The amber here is warm, deep and sweet. The leather is soft and gentle. I even smell a bit of dark cherry lightly peeking through. I think that it is a mass appealing scent that comes at a great price (if you can get your hands on it, since it is a Harrods exclusive). But to me it smells similar to something that I have. Maybe it’s Infinity or Oud Pashmina by Montal or perhaps something from Widian or maybe another brand I really can’t remember. Still I find it deep enough for the lovers of sweet oriental perfumes yet transparent enough to ware during all season and to all occasions. I am currently wearing it in the heat and it develops beautifully. I think it is completely unisex, very versatile and blind buy safe for the lovers of sweet oriental scents.

Sampling Montale – Rendez-Vous Chez Harrods, a release exclusive the UK’s Harrods department store, a great example of a multifaceted blend from the house that works very well and has gravitas while not being specifically heavy in rose or oud. Its character is accented mostly by saffron, pink pepper, and caramel, a sharp, heady, spicy, sweet mix. It’s enjoyable, has a familiar Montale/Mancera DNA, and performs well. While not remarkably different from various entries in the line, it does not smell particularly like any other that I’ve smelled before, though I’m sure some could correct me and find some similar entries. It has standard Montale concentration of EDP and pricing of $170 for 100ml, though unlike most entries in the line, it cannot be found on grey market sites in the US. I think I need to give it some further wearing but overall quite like it. 7 out of 10

You have to try it on skin, otherwise the oud is deceptively strong. Sticky sweet caramel woody oud. It’s actually pretty good. Dries slightly too sweet for my man to wear it, so I’d say it leans feminine. As well as trying on bare skin I layered it with 10 hour old lattafa eclaire as I wore that today, and it’s actually really good, gives more depth to the innocent sweet vanilla of eclaire.

Strong woody leather and slightly sweet. Nice but im. It amazed by it. This is definitely a Montale style fragrance, this is what Montale are good at. Perfect for fall and evening. Definitely unisex in my opinion. Long lasting!

This is surprisingly sweet for a Montale fragrance. I wasn't expecting that at all when I bought it. I was expecting patchouli and black leather and got patchouli and an almost sugary sweetness. There's a real market for that, but just having caramel as a basenote wasn't enough warning for me I guess. Sweeter perfumes are also more appealing to a wider number of buyers, which I never expect from a fragrance which Harrods has allowed a perfumer to hang its name on. Every fragrance that I have smelled which has Harrods in its name has been odd in some way, dark and brooding, having odd notes thrown together, having notes you've never heard of, never smelled before, and/or hope to never smell again. I've thought for years perfumers send their oddest, most unmarketable scents to Harrods and begged Harrods to sell them under the Harrods name, since their stuff always seems to sell. Montale's little Rendez-Vous here seems to be an exception. It's sweet and nearly conventional...ok, not quite conventional but not the usual dark and brooding type of scent I'm fond of.

Loool so funny to me how people are critiquing Montale for being repetitive.When there is a diverse array of Fragrances from the house,such as Blue Matcha,Oudyssee,Oud Island,Aqua Palma,Herbal Aquatica,Aqua Gold etc on the fresher side. However the fact is most houses specialise in certain fragrance families and with Montale it's Eastern Ouds and Gourmands.The fact we can buy such impactful fragrances at a great price is a blessing.I will be grabbing this as I love this family of scents and I know they'll knock it out the park.

Montale has an endless list of perfumes, if you stick to the oudy gourmands, of course you’re gonna get bored and feel it’s redundant. Maybe step out of YOUR comfort zone and check their less familiar releases. Or else, simply go for another brand, no one is forcing anyone to stick to montale honestly. They specialise in a certain category and bring some nuances to it with each release, but if it’s not your cup of tea, go for something else, kayen khir rabbi.

This smells in line with Arabian Tonka. Sweet with slight freshness. So far I haven't detected harsh leather notes. I think it's pink pepper and caramel that dominate. It projects very well. A really good creation. However, this has no resemblance to Oud Cadenza. BTW quarterpasthappy can you specify which dettol does this perfumes smells like? I can surely save a lot of money if you enlighten us with the hidden dettol gem.

The problem of Montale is that all fragrances are made by... Pierre Montale. He is a great creator if you ask me. But even Pierre Montale has his creative limits. So after having and testing a lot of Montale fragrances I have reached the point of being bored by this brand. So actually I am not curious how this new fragrance would smell. But if you are not familiar with this brand... go check it out!

I love when Montale steps outside his comfort zone and opts to use unusual notes like oud, rose, and patchouli. ....oh, wait.

Smells like dettol. That’s all I have to say. Dettol.
