Spicy Aoud

#240 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I picked this up in a travel spay and I am definitely ordering a full bottle. The patchouli, saffron, herbs and musk are all in effective harmony with the oud. Even the orange hint, which as usual is fleeting, adds a nice touch to the opening. I don't see this as unisex in the least, but hey, you do you. The projection is moderate. Longevity a good four hours. Not a Summer scent at all. Fine for office or datenight I think. May become my favorite Montale scent.

I can actually smell all the notes in this. Obviously oud is the dominant one but I can definitely smell the orange, patchouli and saffron as well as the musk. Not a beast mode montale but it does still have pretty good performance and longevity. 8.5/10.

I really enjoy this one. IMO, the spice comes from the saffron and musk; the musk carrying the oud throughout and the last note standing. The Montale musk note is strong and hard to wash out.

I first tried in on a warm day and I was like... meh, nothing special. It left me totally unimpressed. It's like 7C outside today, rainy and gloomy, and I'm really glad I decided to give it another chance because it developed beautifully and I'm finally able to appreciate it. This oriental is warm and comforting. It's not offensive as it stays close to the skin. Rose is not listed but I can smell it. I don't find it really original but it's spicy, woody and not overly sweet and its lasting power is 12+ hours so I guess I'm keeping my 20ml bottle. Would I repurchase? Perhaps not because I think there are more intriguing options in this olfactory segment.

Besides the notes listed on Fragrantica, the Brand's Webpage includes the following declared notes: Mandarin, Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Leather and Myrrh. It bears some resemblance to Black Aoud, but in this EDP, the Oud is subtle, the florals are toned down, playing a supporting role by adding a soft touch, the Saffron Accord is very notieceable, and Myrrh, also very notieceable, adds a resinous, warm and spicy base. This is not as dense nor as strong as Black Aoud, but it's definetely present and long lasting. Perhaps not intense enough for cold winters, but very good for spring and fall. It's office-safe and unisex leaning masculine.

I have been wearing this for 2 days so I am ready to write my review because its a simple fragrance to figure out. Ok its simple but good.What you get is a upon first spray is a citrus with some oud in the back then maybe 25 seconds the oud gets a tiny bit stronger. After about 20 more seconds the saffron comes in to warm it up all up with just a dab of patchouli that you might miss. So basically its a very nice balance of the oud, saffron and orange that smells nice and safe. You can wear it anywear its a crowed pleaser.

I blind bought this one. Caution! Do not try it in warm weather, it’s really heavy. But in cold, it works perfectly, it is an absolut winter scent. It’s a little masculine, oud is explicit and saffron is also clear. I don’t really smell orange.

This is gorgeous, warm, oudy, slightly spicy just from the saffron / orange so just softly. Strong warm oud. Love it!

Opens as a musky oud, with sweet herbs, I guess you can call it patchouli, and a pinch of citrus. I also smell a hint of cinnamon for some reason. It is not old fashioned but also is not prominently fresh. Heavy-ish, sweet, nocturnal, masculine but I can see it working for a woman that likes heavy notes. Definitely becomes more transparent after a few minutes. Although a die-hard fan of Montale, I don`t like this exact stuffy musk-oud combination.

The opening is decent with some montale oud vibe but the dry down is 100% feminine. And it's a common smell, nothing new. It has a very synthetic feeling. I can't stand its patchouli.

This is black aoud minus the rose, and more prominent orange thats well blended with aoud and musk, the orange note persists across the scent progression, so the profile is similar to black aoud. If you're looking for something spicy this ain't it. No prominent patchouli, it's certainly there but even a developed nose has to look for it. No saffron detected to me, maybe there but very subdued. Good longivety and projection but not beastly. However it's a montale so the performance is above average certainly. Due to the orange and musk this doesn't cut thru the cold weather, I'd wear this during spring and fall. It's not thick, dense or warm, not airy either, somewhere in between, leans to airy more, abit cool. Oriental vibe, classy, doesn't break any ground, safe. Stands out. Not complex. Good if you wanna try an oud profile thats not full of raspberry, rose, vanilla, leather or animalic note. No similarity to noir de noir. Masculine, 28 and above, not unisex at all.

I'm yet to try this brand. But one thing is hampering my quest to own a couple of Montales like: Aoud Cuir D'Arabie, Aoud Leather, Aoud Legend, Black Aoud, Crystal Aoud, etc. I understand there are many fakes and knockoffs out in the market. From Montale's website, on their bottles and cardboxes, it is inscribed "31⁄3 Fl.oz". These are original right? Because the ones I keep seeing are inscribed "3.4 Fl.oz". Which is original please? What other features do I look out for to SPOT AN ORIGINAL BOTTLE OF MONTALE? Montale shopping spree is on hold until I clear this seething issue.

Like a typical Montale fragrance, this will instantly remind you of others from the house, Black Aoud and Aoud Exclusif definitely come to mind. There’s plenty of oud and musk here, with just a touch of spice to keep it interesting. Unlike Black Aoud, there’s no rose, and it’s far less spicy than Aoud Exclusif. I’d say this one is a bit more toned down and easier to wear daily compared to the other two. If you’re familiar with Montale’s signature oud note and enjoy that style, this is definitely worth checking out. 8/10

This is lovely..spicy yes but not loud or offensive this actually has a softer side. It’s blended beautifully where the combo whether be from the saffron or patchouli to me gives off an almost amber like note which made me think of Mona Di Orio’s Amber..with a mix of Gucci’s Oud. It’s warm sexy mysterious & inviting, enjoyable for the cold months, it’s an easy Aoud for someone who likes a slight boldness but doesn’t want to knock anyone out or smell too earthy..very nice I like.

One of the best Montales I've tried. It reminds me of TF Noir De Noir. But the patchouli is delicate in comparison. It lasts so long and smells amazing. One of my favourite of oud perfumes as well as oud ispahan. Also I smell rose in this which hasn't been listed so was wondering whether I got my sample mixed up. Will be interested to read whether anyone else gets the Noir De Noir vibe...

This is the only oud from this company that I like. The spices blended very nice with the oud. It’s not too overpowering but it makes a statement. This is a classy scent, that would be nice for a dinner out. I think this is a cooler weather scent. But I wear any perfume that I want anytime of the year. I think I will stick with my. vanille absolut from this company

Tested this yesterday on a sample and keep sniffing it, on paper it seems a more feminine smell, with the saffron and orange taking the lead, lingering patchoulli and a bit of oud... this is quite a boomer for confident and beautiful women who want to attract attention. Quite top quality aswell

Funny thing that I could barely smell any other notes beside of oud and musk, a little saffron from the beginning. No patchouli, tbh, also I think the orange was blended pretty softly in the oud, making a little synthesis feeling. In general, pretty wearable during the night or cool weather.

I'm surprised no one pointed out the similarities between this one and bois d'argent !!! For me, they are almost identical !
