Sunset Flowers

Gorgeous. :) Originally, I wanted to blind-buy a full bottle, but based on some of the reviews I got a sample first, just to be safe. Anyway, I'm loving it. I was craving a proper spring/summer scent these sunny days and this "fits the mood" so well - it's such a bright, optimistic scent, it's a bit lemony (normally I don't really like citrusy perfumes but this is very different) and very "dry grass" or even hay-like (perhaps caused by the chamomile note, which I adore), with a hint of something juicy (maybe the apple?) and something that reminds me of violet powder in the background, but that one is very tamed actually. I'm going to buy a full bottle, this perfume is like a spring/summer meadow, with a decent longevity and projection. :) beautiful creation, another one by Montale I love.

I wanted a herbal, chamomile scent and that's what I've got with Sunset flowers and although obviously not a popular one with reviewers I love it. I find it a calming, dried flowers, chamomile based Spring flowered fragrance that I enjoy wearing after a bath before bed. I feel it's unisex, it starts with a burst of lemon which fades quickly to a medicinal chamomile which I'm loving, try before buying but if you love chamomile you can't go wrong with this one.

I love this frangrance..it is not expensive and very longevity...I feel very fresh when I wear this parfume..It ‘ s remind me young smart women- she know what she want, but in a smart way- she stay tender but striking;)

Is it this smoky base everyone calls chamomile? Ok... It is not a regular summer spray as it starts off light but has a heavy ending. So the perfume starts very floral with a warm rose, with sort OF? petitgrane (citrus greens) and sort OF? a green apple. It just smells like a floral/fruity scent on the start with a bit of green and powder. Then step 2- this whole summery thing sinks down into a heavily smoked prune. This is the Exact smell they used to create the smoked licorice effect in Mancera Black Candy (Mancera is Montale`s other company), and Black Candy is one of my favs and I`ve had a strong deja-vu here. If anything you can compare it to celery but chamomile?? No. Please name a chamomile species with this smell if so :) So what is left is this heavy smoked prune/celery with a bit of a summer vibe. As an experienced gardener with particular interest in herbs I am yet to discover a "chamomile" that smells like that. I just think people are too impressionable. Overall- Interesting- yes. Predictable- no. The presented visual pyramid is not very realistic. Try before you buy.

Very nostalgic fragrance for me. Smells like dried flowers, but I also smell a little bit of greenness in the background. Like partially dried meadows at the end of the summer, the air is getting colder, and the sun is getting down. It reminds me of my childhood. Summers in my grandparent's house, playing in a hayloft with my brothers and cats. I can smell chamomile there, but it ́s dried chamomile. No chemical smell like in other Montales. A very unique perfume. The only perfume I can compare to this is Gucci Mémoire, because of the chamomile. But the chamomile in Mémorie smells like chamomile tea. It ́s a pleasant and comforting scent, but I get why the rating is so bad. I ́m not sure whether I want to smell like this either. I probably will get a bottle, though. For nostalgic reasons. Completely unisex, the longevity and projection are decent - long-lasting with strong sillage on me.

Although I too find it quite feminine, especially to start with, I think some men could wear it easily. The beginning is quite generic, fresh and pleasant, but only after a few minutes I start smelling the fruitiness and the flowers (slightly later on I clearly smell the chamomile too) and it’s just so lovely. I normally don’t go for floral fragrances, but I am open to try them and this one is the reason why it’s worth it! :-) It’s getting more gorgeous by the minute. Although it does remind me of some other fragrances (notable CK ONE) every now and then, I think this one is more refined, subtle and yet more multifaceted. I would definitely be thinking about purchasing this one, but it doesn’t seem to last! Couple of hours later I can’t smell anything. :-(

The chamomile is the most prominent right after spraying. However, with time, Sunset Flowers reminds me less of chamomile, but of old-school white floral fragrances, minus the aldehydes. I even believe to smell some lily-of-the-valley accord. As per my nose, white floral and green notes are definitely dominating this fragrance, but it still lacks some freshness, which is often associated with green notes. This is a lovely fragrance for early spring days, when one craves the smell of flowers and green grass, but does not want to wear light and bright fragrances yet.

Very realistic chamomile and apple. This is a fresher and spicier version of Mémoire d’une Odeur Gucci. To me, it smells like I rubbed chamomile stems in my fingers and started eating an apple without washing my hands. Chamomile bitterness and apple sourness complement each other perfectly. Now I can't wait to test this fragrance in summer.

My adventure with "Sunset Flowers" was like an hour long ride in a public bus. I get in, find a lovely seat by the window, it's spring outside with blooming flowers, the window is a bit open so I can feel how the outside smells - it's fresh, spring like and rather enjoyable, the air has a sweet, almost sugar like quality to it and this makes me happy. Until at the stop 20 minutes later where SHE comes in the bus, she is homeless and haven't had a shower, but she did however get a perfume somewhere, so she smells like sugar and pee. And this is how "Sunset Flowers" smells to me. Enjoyable start with a rancid urine smell covered with sugar at the drydown. The staying power and silage is great though!

I know it's supposed to be chamomile and green grass notes, but to me it smells like urine. Very odd. Smelled very strong and reminded me of nail polish remover first after spraying. So, urine and nail polish remover. Not the best composition.

I don't like it. Too lemon. Not the usual Montale style, it seems a cheap EDT.

Very surprising scent. Not perfumey at all. It has a dusty-dry smell that comes from the chamomile but stop right in the limit of smelling rancid as some perfumes smell when the liquid gets old. So my firts impression was the weirdness of that dry chamomile and the green note that lies behind. BUT i must admit it is quite pleasant. It is not a scent that I expect from a perfume bottle. But, as a collector myself, that is quite a compliment, because at one point almost all the perfume smells very similar... It smells like dried flowers and grass, like an old garden in summer. Quite relaxing and not overpowering, yet still noticeable. I need to test it in spring or summer to see it if fits me as a perfume, but the scent in general is quite nice and I feel like, at least, I will enjoy using it at home in silent summer evenings.

Montale SUNSET FLOWERS seems well-named to me, as the composition features dried flowers and dried grass, parched perhaps by a long day in the sun. At the very opening, I do detect a bit of violet, but mainly this creation is not very sweet, despite the green apple note listed in the official pyramid. Could chamomile be creating the grass effect? I suppose. Often I find chamomile to be rather bitter (as in Clinique AROMATICS ELIXIR), but here it smells more like dried grass. SUNSET FLOWERS is a pleasant perfume, provided that one enjoys the scent of mixed dried flowers and grass. To me it has something of a vintage vibe, and I do find the scent to smell natural. Parched petals and sun-dried, brittle brown blades of grass are what I perceive. Rather like the scent of foliage after a brutally hot summer with no rain for weeks.

When smelled from the sample vial, I got images of dried brown grass. Or maybe the dried chamomile flowers that are inside a tea bag. On my skin it was a much different story. I'm surprised more people are not saying this smells like Estee Lauder Pleasures, because to my senses it is a twin. Heavy violet when first applied, quickly moving into that same opaque lily of the valley accord that is found in Pleasures. Extremely green. Like botanical garden on a humid day type of green. Leaves swatting you in the face type of green note. After a few hours, Sunset Flowers turned a bit sour on me, but that could have been due to wearing it in very hot weather.

I was curious so I bought a decant, it is a green leafy flowery scent, although I am not a fan of Montale, with its unisex creations, I kind of enjoy this one..I wouldn't buy a full bottle though, but this is nicely done, aromatic scents not being my favorite, but this is nice quality, a bit in the vein of Diptyque Lierre, It smells like nature , very true.. there is a bit of a sharpness but it isn't too overdone, then the camomile tales over, in a rounded way. Could a man wear it? Nowadays some men wear about anything, but in my opinion i it is more feminine. It isn't outstanding longevity, it is a nice creation , but a bit overrated in my views.

I really, really smelled the chamomile in this one, and again a Montale perfume smells like another brands perfume that i tried before...at the beginning it reminded me of Annick Goutal's eau de camille....i'm not sure exactly why since they do not appear to have the same notes. hmmm. this one is by far a superior perfume as it is not overpowering but very spring flower-like. the dry down is exquisite going on 6 hours later. i am not sure how this is a unisex scent, it seems quite feminine to me.

This is very bright, uplifting, and juvenile in a good way. Perhaps not juvenile, but it brings back me to some 15 years ago when I was still a teen and this reminds me of some nice smelling deodorant from back then. In a good way :) however, this is not a scent profile I reach for on daily basis, so it doesn't match my taste. Also it is overwhelming if sprayed a couple spritzes too many and might suffocate you. Really impressed with the performance!

Smells like blooming meadow, but somehow not fresh... kinda damp actually. The sillage is extreme. I don't think this is a scent you wear, but it could be something you spray around the place when you sit outside to make it smell like blooming meadow. Hard to give this a rating, since I can't imagine someone wearing it but if you want to have an ability to make something smell like damp (but not fresh) blooming meadow that is exactly what this does.

Come on, ladies! The scent is nice and very summer-ish. I can’t feel lemon and apple at all, the Parma violet is a queen here. Its like a wreath of Parma violet flowers with a little bit of chamomiles around. The aftertaste is the best part of this fragrance though. Its almost invisible and unsmellable, but beautiful, thin and aristocratic. The overall impression is Les Meteorites by Guerlain. Violet powder.

A very sour green aromatic fragrance ! To my old factive memory smells like green mango pickle that my aunt used to make ! I think this one is best for the summer the apple not is very sour smelling and it really combines well with the green notes and by it’s side the lovely herbal smell of chamomile. Very unique and pleasant. Definitely for people who appreciate a different kind of smell.

Flowers as if in a garden after the rain, do not feel this much lemon, but a bit of a camomula embracing the rich bouquet.

I get flowers and....celery? I'm not sure what that's all about. Going to have to pass on this one.
