Velvet Fantasy

Fluffy, MUSKY & TART FRUITS (Melon-Pineapple) with Amber-Incense... This is inspired by Erba Pura Xerjoff, but it's not an exact dupe. In the first couple of minutes I get a fresh & fruity burst that smells near melon-pineapple. As the sillage starts to open up there's a fluffy, musky near-bubblegum quality that softens the tart sharpness of the fruits. As it's drying down it gets warmer and deeper with an amber-incense blend and trace patchouli (not listed). There's a lot of comments that this is sharp, and I find this DNA kind of sharp too, but this version is one of the softer, more mellow versions of it imho, and it turns warm in the drydown. Has the characteristic Montale powerhouse performance and is versatile enough to be worn year round, but I would be most likely to wear this transitioning from late summer to fall due to the cool to warm profile. Contrast to Kirke Tiziana Terenzi: These are different, but there are striking similarities with the tart & fresh fruits. Kirke has a more forward tropical quality, while Velvet Fantasy has a more forward amber-incense in the drydown. Both have excellent performance. Contrast to Erba Pura Xerjoff: These are different, but again there are striking similarities with the tart & fresh fruits. Erba Pura has a more forward citrus, while Velvet Fantasy has a more forward amber-incense in the drydown. Both have excellent performance. Contrast to Amber Oud Gold Edition Al Haramain: These are different, but both are inspired by Erba Pura Xerjoff. Overall: gorgeous, unisex, versatile, fluffy-musky-tart fruity scent with warm drydown and excellent performance. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I think this perfume is amazing. Bought it for my mom and she said she gets compliments on it everywhere she goes. I bought it for her and I can remember vividly the first time she had it on. We were taking a family vacation, and in the lobby of our hotel, there was a bar and a bakery. I kept getting whiffs of a delicious and sweet pastry or muffin. It smelled so good I walked over to the bakery and looked through their display case to identify what I was smelling. I looked closely, but nothing I saw seemed to resemble what I was smelling so I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t buy it. It wasn’t until later when we got into our Uber and the smell was still around that I realized it wasn’t something from the bakery that I was smelling, but it was actually this perfume on my mom 😂. It surprised me because when we were in the lobby she was pretty far away and I was still getting whiffs of it. She was around a corner about 10 feet away. I’m not sure if the perfume projects that much, or if she rubbed a little bit off on me when she gave me a hug that morning. Anyways, I highly recommend this for ladies. My mom still wears it and out of her HUGE collection of niche fragrances, she says this is her absolute favorite and she went through an entire bottle in one year (which is very fast for her because since she has so many bottles of different perfume, they usually last her multiple years). I will always buy it for her when she runs out and I hope they never discontinue it. I love this scent and I love my mom.

I've tried about 15 Montale fragrances and this is the only one I felt inclined to buy a full bottle of. Not to say that the Montale fragrances I did try were duds. I tried some perfectly lovely ones. I'm just very picky. I own 6 bottles of perfume currently and am constantly ordering discovery kits and samples. I'm glad I was able to finally buy a bottle of something I know I'll reach for regularly. This is fruity, smooth, velvety, warm, and well-blended, in my humble opinion. It reminds me of when the sun is setting, a big orange ball in the sky, and the sky around it is pink but it's also starting to become dark outside. The bottle's color combination is almost perfect for it. I would just add indigo at the bottom to really capture what this scent is like. I don't agree with the comparisons to Kirke or Erba Pura. I've compared all three together on my skin and Velvet Fantasy lacks the quality in those other 2 that makes them smell... overwhelming to me. I don't understand why this one has a low rating. If you like sensual fruity fragrances, I think this is worth sampling.

Really loving this one! I have a 2 ml tester and I love it more every time I wear it. The initial notes are really bright and fresh. I get the musk and amber right away and it gets more cozy as it warms up on my skin. The violet combined with the rose is very beautiful. A very sexy fragrance that is also versatile; I could wear it for a date night or during the day to run errands. Full bottle worthy and on my wish list 8.5/10 ❤

I like it, I see it really well on a woman. sunny notes in the opening and the rest is a superb mix of citrus and fruit. I do not feel incense but unobtrusive white musk. excellent pink and purple with a touch of amber. great for all seasons. and as always excellent performance. 9/10

One of the best fragrances by Montale. Sweet, cozy, spicy, powdery, velvety, with some sweet fruit, (passionfruit and pineapple), just the right combination of pleasant aromas. Has a lot in common with Erba Pura by Xerjoff.

A familiar fruity powder-musk blend. I can't place it. Opens with a strong rush of sweet dark fruit before then the powder comes out as a transparent violet-rose combo. The musk is soft and gentle. Velvet is right. My husband who usually hates strong florals really likes when I wear this scent. I'm not quite sure what it is about it. It has depth but it doesn't have any bitter qualities like Black Orchid. It's not overly sweet like La Vie Est Belle. It doesn't induce headaches like the cheap white musk base of Chloe. The dark fruity scent does fade fairly fast, leaving just the powdery musk base in the dry down. Great if you can tolerate powdery scents!

See now I think this smells heavenly, though on the stronger side I’ll give it that and to my mom.. she absolutely couldn’t stand this lol (said it was way too strong) but I think it’s just very bold alluring scent. Get a huge blast of fruit right at first definitely pick up a bit of pineapple along with other various fruits but this isn’t Escada fruity this is more grown up mixed with some spicy florals bit of powdery-ness from the violet & amber. I like this don’t think it FB worthy enough for me though I think I’d definitely grow sick of it after a while, but will try the sample on a night out.

The initial impression is fruit punch, amber, and there is something woody in the opening as well. As the fragrance develops on my skin, the fruit becomes more subtle and you begin to smell the traces of a pink rose. This is a fun and playful fragrance that will dazzle in the spring and summer. I understand the references to the Erba Pura dna because of the citrus notes. They have a lot in common.

Fruity floral perfume with a clear Montale signature. Sexy and fun! Bold, perfect for spring and fall. Maybe too much for summer to my opinion. I quite like it! But it does lean a bit masculine to my nose. Definitely has a sweet muskiness, and then you get a cologne vibe. If unisex scents are your thing, you might really like this! Can imagine this smelling divine on a man.

Its a nice fruit punch without the extreme musky from Erba Pura (I love Erba Pura), it's nice, fruity and ambery. I'm not massively impressed but it's definitely pleasant and it would be good for summer. Leans feminine.

This is very fruity and feminine. Perfect for summer and unique in my collection of Montale scents. I bought 2 sample sets and really like them all fortunately. This one is in the top 5 for me!

Bright fruity and a bit creamy scent. I think this suits younger women and it is extremely versatile can be worn any time any season just go light on spray when it’s hot.

Erba Pura meets Fantasy meets La vie est Belle

Whew - definitely try before you buy! At first spray, I loved the fruity and fresh notes, but it dries down to what is a rather one-note sharp muskiness on me. There's something "old, dead flower" about it on my skin and it's not the scent for me. I will say that the performance is great; I have scrubbed (with soap! twice!) the back of my hand where I sprayed this and it's STILL there. So if it wears nicer on your skin, you could have a real winner in terms of longevity.

When I first sprayed it, the opening is very juicy, sweet(not too sweet) and fruity with amber giving it depth also I smell a hint of pine and t was heaven . Once it just dries down, I smell ozonic notes of fresh air, dried roses, and a walk through a forest. Then it takes a turn for the worse and becomes very sweet with a hint of honey, moss, rendered beef fat, and amber. The sweetness is just too much for me because it isn't balanced and has strange nuances. On the brighter note, it reminds me of Lili Fantasy by Juliette has a gun which I own and love, as it has a deep ambroxan base and the sweetness does not suffocate after it dries down. I really wanted to love this one because the opening was fantastic, but sadly its a no go a step opening is the only thing I like about it

To my nose Velvet Fantasy lacks balance. Immediately I got hit with a sharp overpowering powdery musk. Honestly in the beginning I wasn't able to smell any other notes. On the dry down the scent loses some of its sharpness but it's very musk heavy. A sweetness comes out (although I wouldn't personally describe it as fruity) and it's also very imbalanced. It's definitely strong with a huge sillage. I put one spray on my wrist and the scent was dominating and overwhelming, it gave me a headache after 20 minutes. I'm glad I bought a tester of it and didn't blind buy. Just looking at the notes on here it's something that would normally be right up my alley.

The amberwoody base is v present, but just about treacly enough I find it bearable, sweet slightly spicy fruity florals are woven in n stay a light veil over the top. The dry down is the nicest phase. Those who are increasingly distressed by amberwoody scents should probably steer clear but it is indeed a way less nuclear (& therefore better!) Erba Pura type thing. It is still v strong & you'll smell it on clothes until you decide to wash them. Basic modern fruity/woody but less of an assault than many. In fact the more I recall others in this tiring genre the better this one appears.

Something in this makes me feel like my nose hairs are burning- a sort of bleach like quality. I'm assuming whatever chemical makes up the "solar notes". It's overpowering in the opening and is the thing I still smell hours later after scrubbing because I couldn't stand it more than a few minutes.

Has a cassis / black currant note that’s super strong.

Burst of bergamot and non descriptive flowers. There is a herbal touch not mentioned in the notes pyramid. Something very fresh..maybe Basil or lemongrass? I don't find this particularly feminine, nor romantic ...it is a fresh clean scent with fruity and green accords. Good for close environments, not too much projection for being a Montale.

The smell is strong fruity mix of instant crush and baccarat The montale metal can DNA, which I usually hate actually works with this one On The skin this shines. This packs a silliage cloud punch . A lil goes a long way literally. This spray, concentration and quality juice power is perfect mixing in yo lotion for a long lasting base.

For some reason this has the Baccarat effect where I can hardly smell it 80% of the time, even right after initial spraying. The little whiffs I can catch smell nothing like Erba Pura to me, just a generic department store “perfume-y” perfume. This is probably nice and inoffensive for that reason, but sample it before buying for sure!

It would seem a generic syrupy bubble gum perfume, but in the hours the Montalian DNA comes out with amber and a note of bitter-powder (due to the violet) fruit which seems to reproduce the typical rose leather combo. The solar note is not on the official site, maybe it is fruit.

When I first received this, I thought it was a smoother version of erba pura and those sorts. However, now that I’m giving it a full wearing, there is something that is bothersome to me in the drydown, just like its counterparts. Unfortunately this is DNA is just a no for me.

God, this one is just so forgettable to me. Every time I spray it on I literally can’t remember what it was a few hours later. It’s weirdly generic and vague but also packs a punch, so it’s confusing. I see why people would like it, but it’s just not for me.

I love it, but it literally smells EXACTLY like Erba Pura, particularly when it settles down. Identical. Less so like Kirke, which I find louder and more tart than Erba Pura. I suppose a point to this fragrance would be that this is slightly more affordable.

Just got a sample of this. It is an intense opening with a dry down that reminds me of Euphoria by Calvin Klein. Nice but nothing special.
