Velvet Flowers

Velvet Flowers is a unique blend of saffron and peach blossom, the two notes that dominate the fragrance. The overall effect is rich, sweet, and syrupy. Golden ambrosia. The drydown borders on gourmand, like peach cobbler with a dollop of saffron-infused whipped cream. I would not call this spicy. Saffron is technically a spice, but it is sweet with honey-like nuances, so there is nothing "spicy hot" to be found here. Saffron makes the perfume very creamy. This perfume could be perfect for warm summer nights. Longevity is great considering it's a floral-fruity. The richness of the fragrance prevents it from being overly youthful. In other words, most perfumes of this genre seem too playful or flirty to be taken seriously, but Velvet Flowers is a "perfume" in the classic sense of the word. I have to add that I see no resemblance to Aoud Velvet, which has no spice and no peach whatsoever. There is certainly oud in Aoud Velvet, but there is no oud in Velvet Flowers at all. They are totally different perfumes. Edit - March 2015: I finally own this beauty! After years of wanting it, I finally caved as it is getting harder to find.

I don’t understand the hate 🤷🏻♀️ This is a beautiful fragrance and very true to its name velvet flowers 🌸. It’s sweet, powdery floral notes that are blended seamlessly w/ a projection that will knock out a horse! Longevity also seems to be incredible. In short, I’m literally in love. One of the best ultra feminine Montales I’ve encountered so far. Amazing. 🌸🌸

i like it! it's kinda like alien but with some apricot mixed and less jasmin :-p more clearer too

It took me a couple of tries to love this, and I'm glad I gave it another shot. The first time I tried velvet flowers, I was rather unimpressed. Perhaps it was the weather that suppressed the notes? Maybe I just wasn't receptive enough? For whatever reason, I brushed it off. Luckily, I was going through my samples box and decided to try this on again. It opens as a watery fruit basket before it starts to settle a bit and becomes more heavy. It's sweet and very fruity (straight up peaches), almost sharp (perhaps from the tiniest bit of saffron that is detectable), but not intrusive. Right from the start, I also pick up a lot of musk playing around in the background, but it's a light girly musk, not a very mature one, if that makes sense. A sniff closer to the skin reveals the rosy notes that never really take flight. This is the only part of the entire fragrance that lives up to its name, "Velvet Flowers". It is definitely the smoothest part of the entire fragrance, and is so incredibly feminine and mildly intoxicating - so well rounded and addictive, with beautiful musky wood notes backing it. It's a shame it sits so close to the skin, but I suppose one could see that as an added dimension. As the fragrance develops, it gains an almost syrupy texture and a bitterness that I find rather confusing. The first thing that comes to mind is jasmine, but I have not known jasmine to be bitter on my skin. It's not unpleasant though; if anything, it simply contributes another facet. It ends with airy musk and a faint fruity floral sweetness, with a hint of spice and wood. This stage is very much a skin scent on me. Is this fragrance exquisitely different or unique? Perhaps not, but for the fruity floral enthusiast, this is worth trying. Projection was noticeable throughout, and total wear on me was about 5.5-6 hours.

Montale Velvet Flowers. I thought I was in love with this one, having had the FB on my to-buy list for a long time, years ago. Each time I went to the perfumery selling Montale, I spritzed and thought "fall comes, and I'm gonna go for it". I really thought I loved that. But then I had the chance to have a decent decant, and I had been trying the frag for some days in a row. A huge blast of warm flowers, yep, I knew that. Dark velvety roses, that note is lovely. But then it turned so sweet on me,I guess the Ylang Ylang, I could barely smell the Jasmine that I generally love. A drydown is rich, very "Middle East". But there is a note -saffron? - that is heady and migraine inducing. And I thought I was hooked on this one!! Final Verdict? nice but not so additcive as I previously thought. Honestly, also a bit nauseating if you dab one one more. (I am not going to have a FB.) Not a safe blind buy, it needs some thorough testing.

Take the cold roses out of Roses Musk. You're left with that same Montale base as in Intense Cafe & Ristretto.. Add something weirdly like a hospital corridor but not quite.. is that the saffron? Add mildly sweet fruity floral pinch of powdered musk.. Think the peach blossom n ylang ylang come through the most. It's quite airy & light feeling. I quite like this, it seems to be growing on me. If you like all those other Montales you'll probly def not hate this one at any rate. Addendum: This one grew on me really fast, probly because I'm a bit weird n like hospital reminding scents.. I ended up buying it :/ Plus I LOVE ylang ylang, I think it might be my favourite floral note. The shiny pink cannister reminds me of xmas baubles.

I like the first half hour the best. It's unusual, spicy and floral. Unfortunately after a while it becomes more and more sweet, almost (but only almost) cloying and I can feel only a peach scent then. It reminds me of Chanel Allure EDT a lot and I have this 'Allure' feeling for hours. Sillage and longevity are very good. P.S.:Interesting, how our nose 'works'. I have Guerlain Purple Fantasy and I feel it similar to Allure EDP and Montale VF to Allure EDT. And I see, that others find similarity between Alien and Purple Fantasy and between Alien and VF. God knows...

Picture, if you would, the bottom of a purse, perhaps once a nice purse, but one that has suffered from overuse. The cloth lining has been marred with pen marks, has bits of wrapper and receipt, a scrap of tissue here that holds an old wad of gum surreptitiously removed from a mouth before a nice meal or a theatre performance and deposited. Maybe a loose throat lozenge covered in lint or something that used to be a mint and now is... no longer that. And some scented waxy lipstick once came uncapped and mashed itself a bit against the lining, and a few paper wands sprayed with department store fragrances lingered in a side pocket a bit too long. A leaking hand cream, label worn, product gone a bit off, is sadly forgotten in the corner. Think of how this atmosphere smells, how this lining smells if your face were pushed up against it, and now because this is a Montale, turn that muted smell up to 11. Good day, sir. I SAID GOOD DAY!!!

no. just no. get your face pushed into the sicken (in a bad way) sweetness of it all all you want if you enjoy . no. unfortunately it is really strong and my colleague wears it daily. just foul. and the bottle isn't even nice either with the price it comes for i was expecting it to be Heavy and mean business. nuh uh

Opening is bright and fruity , however on dry down all you get is musty white florals and SOAP. I would not wear this.

This fragrance has disrespected my personal boundaries and owes me an apology and 2 extra strength Tylenol. The sampling experience was akin to hitting my head and waking up in my grandma's closet with a concussion under a pile of oversized vintage luggage.

This is my favourite perfume. I do not ever want to be without it. It's a womanly version of the sweet florals that line the racks. To just call it a sweet floral is insulting though. It's honeyed flowers, its creamy, fruity, inviting, intoxicating and heady. I got a sample of this, and knew immediately that i NEEDED a full 100 ml bottle, and that it would be mine, and not one of the ones i decant for others. I formed an instant emotional bond with it, it's quite beautiful. It's so perfectly balanced and blended that i cannot detect any particular accord, i get honey, i get a floral bouquet, and warmth of the woody/musk base. it's just a beautiful warm floral aura. I apply it, and it's fairly linear for me, there's not much changing during the 12+ longevity of it. It's as beautiful when I apply it, as when I go to bed (by that time i'm kind of wanting a break from it) i receive a lot of comments "damn!! You smell good" beimg the most common. I think it's very feminine, and a man might find this difficult to wear, though i'm aware some men are fond of their florals. I have fragrances i decant and sell, and i keep on industrial shelving - but whats on my vanity, STAYS on my vanity. And this is on my vanity. It is mine. I refuse to part with 1single milliliter. 10 out of 10

Has an almost malty opening brushed with honey, following an Ambroxan sweetened fruit-pulp cocktail. I can sense a little pink rose in the opening, but otherwise I get more peach blossom than any other floral. Delving closer, the fruit themselves seems like a sourish mash, and almost project with a digestive atmospheric texture to them. This texture, combined with the ambrosia-like melange of alluring sweet notes, and sour basey fruit pulp give me the strongest premonition that this fragrance is supposed to be some kind artistic expression of a pitcher plant (or possibly an experience of the atomsophere from inside the belly of a pitcher plant). The aroma has the distinct density to it, that alongside the other qualities really project with a jungle-like overtone to them. Kind of neat. It certainly brings pictures of a pitcher plant to life in a very dark light. Otherwise though, I'm not sure if this fragrance has anything modernly stylish or appealing to it. At best, it might be able to appeal to an older crowd, but even that is likely to be a far cry I think.

This fragrance is way too mature leaning.. dare I say old old lady perfume...I absolutely abhor this fragrance... this was recommended by a you tuber and I almost feel like suing her for this monstrosity of a fragrance recommendation... all I get is rose.... this is not a modern rose this fragrance reminds me of an Avon perfume that my grandmother wore... if you like Roja dove Danger you may like this.... they do not smell exactly alike but they both are very mature rose leaning fragrances. .I am just not a fan of this scent profile...I assumed I would love it based off of the recommendation and the notes but boy was I wrong....I have relegated this perfume to use in replacement of my poopourri bathroom spray because this spray is STRONG

'90s Styled BALSAMIC PEACH-ROSE with Saffron & Ylang... Although it's not a dupe of anything, this vintage vibe beauty hearkens back to the '90s along the lines of Trésor Lancôme and Champs Elysees Guerlain with a syrup-y peach-rose plumped with yellow-florals and some powdery, medicinal top notes. Saffron here bringing a modern twist to the medicinal top notes The gurjan balsam in the base gives it extra staying power in keeping with Montale's signature powerhouse performance. I personally find it on the strong side, but I could see this working with one or two sprays max under clothing to add a peachy balsamic punch to your daily driver. Fans of '90s styled peach scents might like this. Enjoy!

Velvet Flowers smells like rose/lavender scented soap bars and sweetish hookah smoke, but it's by no means a sweet fragrance. The top notes remind me of the exotic Mukhallat (another oriental by Montale), but that impression does not stay for too long, as the soapy florals kick in shortly after the opening. I can't detect any fruits. What I smell is more the idea of fruits than the actual fruits. Velvet Flowers doesn't remind me of any particular fragrance, and certainly not of those few mentioned in the reviews below. I think it's an interesting fragrance, because it smells like the old classics, but there is also something exotic about it, like hookah tobacco.

Per me Velvet Flowers rappresenta una certezza. Quando desidero sentirmi avvolta da un tripudio di fiori di pesco, ylang-ylang e gelsomino indosso questo profumo. Intensissimo, aggraziato, gentile e di persistenza "montaliana" (almeno sei ore senza cedimenti..). La nota legnosa del sandalo "biscotta" i fiori bianchi e un velo di zafferano dà un'aura speziata. Il profumo è molto dolce, sento predominante l'ylang-ylang. Non proprio da tutti i giorni, solo quando si ha bisogno di una fragranza rasserenante e leggiadra, e tuttavia potente.

Another Montale I was almost going to purchase based on notes. It sounded beautifully floral and fruity, spring music to my ears. Unfortunately, after two complete different testers/samples, I have been pretty disappointed. The notes don't smell clean, they have a synthetic vibe to them and the powdery dry down reminds me of an older bottle of discounted perfume that sat around too long. (Unless, in fact, my two separate samples, from different vendors, had both turned..) Not a keeper for me.....

Plush. Starts off with ripe fruits and moves into a plush musk. Like a lighter, fruitier version of Boudoir by Vivienne Westwood. A dessert consumed in a velvet lined banquette within a candlelit dining room.
