White Musk

This was love at first sniff. The powdery floral aspect makes it light and fluffy, with a slight sugary sweetness. The violet leaf adds a touch of green freshness. This is not your classic oud or gourmand Montale with the caramel and vanilla-heavy DNA we are used to from them, which I enjoy. I often see people here complaining about synthetic fragrances, which makes me chuckle because most fragrances are indeed composed of synthetic aroma chemicals designed to replicate the scents we encounter. Now, back to the fragrance we are discussing. It reminds me a lot of my favourite body mist, SDJC 59. It's quite similar, and I haven't seen many people mention that here. So, if you're a fan of that, you might love this fragrance just as much. It’s a beautifully crafted, long-lasting, fresh musky scent. Layering it over Cheriosa 59 works wonderfully, and just like all Montale scents, it offers great longevity. This fragrance is versatile and can be layered with many others. If you love the "clean girl" fragrance vibe, I highly recommend giving this a try. Happy sniffing!

First pure musk ever that I Am ready to wear and buy at any time. Very soapy-warm on me, simple, but very attractive, sensual, yet ethically correct to wear in all situations. At work will give reassurance and probably relax colleagues, at home it's like a magnet for family members, can't remember that I ever received as many cuddles , as while wearing White Musk. Calms me down by its natural baby-like aroma. 7.8 out of 10.

I've been wearing this one more. This is one of his best fragrances. It's not nearly as suffocating as the rest of the line. This is beautifully soapy and nostalgic. Probably one of the best musk fragrances on the market. Something about it reminds me of Rive Gauche and Calandre.

Like Planet X said this is a pure, clean musk. I find it so wearable, it's clean and musky but not cloying as some Musks can be on me. It's clean, cold feeling, a little soapy, great longevity, new love.

Beautiful! Clean, soft, tender, but cold. For me it is like watching a foggy winter landscape throught a withe veil. It's not old but especially young; a young, clean, nice body.

I really liked this! Then I absolutely hated it :( I can't tell if it's the ylang ylang Musk mixture? It makes me kind of nauseous!

I sprayed it lavishly right after showering, without reading any of the notes beforehand. Aside from the telltale name of the perfume itself, I didn't know what to expect. It first has that very faint baby powder hint, then musk, then some greenness - remind me of the green skin part of a guava (the one with white flesh, not pink). Now that I've learned the notes, I think the short-lived baby powder hint and the faint yet long-lasting greenness must be from the violet leaf. I don't smell any ylang ylang. I don't detect any sweetness, either. Just a very linear, clean perfume - A fragrance that is genuinely "white", so wearable and approachable. One may or may not be very big on such scent, but I can't imagine anyone would truly hate this. Longevity is good, but the perfume does not really leave any trail nor can I smell anything from my own wrists when I move them around despite very generous spraying. I'm not mad, this is actually expectable from a scent like White Musk. This smells nothing like White Musk by Jovan (which imho is still the most beautiful, balanced musk scent out there, it totally vanishes after 5 mins thou!) or White Musk by The Body Shop (a bit too harsh). Belong to the "forgettable category" in my book. I don't mean that in a negative way. "Forgettable" here should be read as "I don't mind wearing it but it is nothing special."

Smells nice but not my favorite It opens with this green dewy fresh note that i think is coming from the violet leaf then i get the musk right away, its a cold fresh laundry musk (not a warm laundry) mixed with a little bit of ylang which is not my favorite. Ylang gives perfumes a texture that sometimes gets on my nerves and it goes pissy sometimes on my skin Lasts pretty well but not as the other montale fragrances. If you like Kenzo Flower you will probably like this it smells similar but not as heavy and complex UPDATE: after finishing my whole sample i liked it more and more, i feel like i started to get more of what this scent offers, i can’t really describe what is smelling different about it now but i would buy full bottle for sure 😍 i’m getting more of a silky smooth muskyness rather than that pissy ylang if i spray just one tiny spray on skin and the rest on my clothes

The opening is quite delicious. On my skin, this is very feminine, warm and inviting. Like a pudding with creamy ylang and fluffy musk. Not much more to add, like other Montales this is again simple, linear and long lasting fragrance. It is not deep, complex or unusual with an exotic/french/whatever twist. Just warm ylangish milky musk. update: eventually does morph into a "soapy" scent, this type of musk is closer to "old fashioned' Lorenzo Villoresi musk then the one used in N. Rodriguez.

Both clean and powdery-but slightly sweet-the elements are perfectly balanced. It's a very wearable pristine and proper musk-not cold for me, but certainly not warm. This doesn't do much for me, but it does have the typical fine-tuned smell of a Montale to me, and I could imagine it on a very very delicate and reserved lady-perhaps somebody like Isabelle Huppert? Not for me, but I wouldn't turn down a free bottle!

This is the first 'white musk' scent that doesn't get sharp or overly soapy on me. It's smooth, fluffy, creamy and clean. A hint of floral sweetness is detected. Simple, and straightforward but high quality. Like coming out of a warm bath, clean and towel-dried, and then being wrapped in cashmere, feeling peaceful and pampered. Low sillage and great longevity.

This is a lovely very gentle musk - virtually a skin scent with no projection at all.I detect a slight Vanilla and plastic scent in the top notes.In fact the top note is all there is.There is no discernable development to this perfume at all. I love Musk and I love Roses Musk but this is such a disappointing Montale.Particularly at this price.

Very clean musk that smells a lot like walking into a dry cleaners and catching a whiff of all the fresh steamed pressed linens but with an airy like quality. I like to wear this when I just need something easy to throw on for running errands around town.

The ultimate clean smell! When I first sprayed this, I hated it. Super screechy and all I got was mature white florals. After a few minutes, it really mellowed out and now I just smell a soft, clean soapy scent. Perfectly unisex, too.

Comforting musk, warm and powdery as other commentators have said, reminds of steamed textile. This finishes with a mild fruity scent. I am not a fan of pure musk in general but can appreciate the tender combination here.

Nice! smells like freshly ironed shirts. Also it is long lasting. I am still experimenting with it since in terms of layering it can be overpowering. I would have liked it to be a bit brighter than it currently is.

You can wear this anytime, pleasant soap smell. It's more feminine tho. If you watched the movie Equals, this is how I imagine everyone smells there.

A pleasant skin scent, reminds me somewhat of Nivea cream.

Very light. Ok for the price but I have to stick my nose so deep inside my shirt if I want to smell it. Good as an inoffensive fragrance, but nothing more.

Violet leaf + musk = POWDER bomb!! It should be noted that I am not a fan of powdery scents. That being said, this is a fairly linear dry/powdery musk that's very soapy and a bit sharp. Being a Montale, it lasts forever, it was still going after 14 hours. I can appreciate a soapy scent for what it is but this is one of my least favorites due to its harshness and strong powder note.

The notes are well blended in such a way that the fragrance feels like an iris soliflore. It definitely has a musky smell, however the combination makes it smell a bit old lady. It reminds me of a spray deodorant my nana used to wear so it does comfort me, it is also a deadringer for Chloe, but it's not personally my first choice for a musk.

Upon first spray it had metallic smell, I thought maybe it was my imagination because of the metallic colour of bottle. But no. Sour and leafy with some animalic note (musk). I totaly dislike it.

Smells old, like bed sheets, kept in the chest for decades. Doesn't smell clean, it smells musty. It's not priceworthy, there are much better and definitey cheaper musk fragrances. Blah.

Strangely, the opening was "rotten fruit"; it eventually morphed into a white soapy musk, but without much interest...oh, well.

I think I probably don't like pure musk scents, for me it just smells like baby wipes...

Not being much for big musk perfumes, I have been pleasantly surprised by Montale WHITE MUSK. The name is perfect because the musk is really very clean and pure. I barely smell any flowers at all, but I have noticed that the musk in this composition appears to be similar to that used in Chanel NO 5. Now that everyone uses synthetic musk, there may be more convergence among musk perfumes than there were back in the olden days when unsuspecting musk deer were "relieved" of parts of their anatomy in order to satisfy wealthy people's desire for luxurious perfume. The question becomes: if every house from Jovan to Montale is using synthetic musks to make their musk solinote perfumes, then why in the world would anyone choose the most rather than the least expensive of the available offerings? Not being a musk connoisseur, I have to admit that I do not know the answer to the question! I did notice today that the remnants of By Kilian LOVE AND TEARS, which I found to be a rather hum-drum and dry jasmine soliflore, mingle quite nicely with the Montale WHITE MUSK. To make sure that I was not misinterpreting the Montale, I also tested it on the back of my hands. It's a clean white musk, no question about that. What I'm still not sure of is whether I like it better than The Body Shop WHITE MUSK. Well, I happen to have some of their perfume oil here somewhere, so let me go find out the answer to the question right now. I'll be back in a jiffy... I'm back. There's actually a huge difference. The Montale WHITE MUSK is smooth and creamy and clean, while The Body Shop smells somewhat sharp and soapy. I definitely prefer the Montale, and recognize now that not all synthetic musks are created--or combined--alike!

Nice and pleasant musk. It is definitely white and clean. Some musky perfumes tend to smell sharp like cleaning products. This doesn't do that. It is soft like cotton pads. When I first sprayed it I noticed something sweet and fruity in it. It was inoffensive, warm and somehow dessert like. After an hour or so it cooled down and started smelling like washed skin. It also smells quite powdery. But the powder here is not like a cheap and bold baby powder. It smells more like a blush or some eyeshadows. It is that soft and shy. Not warm, inviting or attractive. Just very neutrally pleasant. I am not sure if this could be a very popular scent, but also can't imagine anyone dislikes smelling it on other people. It is maybe for those who are not into wearing perfumes, but really want to smell gently nice and clean.

I tried White Musk after sampling six or seven other Montale scents in a short period of time. Maybe it was just olfactory fatigue, but neither my husband nor I could actually smell this perfume on the test strip. Musk is not the only note, but somehow we were completely anosmic to it. I've heard that most people are anosmic to musk aromas of one variety or another. Perhaps I met my match here. If this one has a scent, it's obviously much more subtle than the other Montales. I recommend sampling before purchase, just so you don't spend a lot of money on a fragrance you can't even enjoy.

The only review you need to read and trust me with this one: This is classic fabric softener for sheets. 100%. Sampled it, bought it, never changed my mind about it. Long lasting and linear. Nothing to by blown away by, not hardcore compliment getter or seducer, but you cannot be possibly any closer to fabric softener scent. I am using it as office scent and as comforter before sleep. If that is not good enough for you dont get it, honestly. Otherwise, it will work you extremely well.

Very clean crystal like (if crystal had a scent). Different to the white musks i've smelt. I have tried Tresori, ASAQ, Serge Clair de Musc, etc. Montale's does have a cold vibe to it and i still rate the scent of jovan white musk and body shop's white musk as my fav white musk scents. Im getting a note found in Tresori's white musk which seems to be in the Montale one. Whereas the latter doesn't have the animalic vibe.

White musks are my favorite scents - always have been - and I'm always on the lookout for a good one. I just received this as a decant in order to try it, but yuck. My first thoughts were "old lady." It has that musty, granny smell. Like you're snuggled into an old lady's bosom. Maybe it's a body chemistry thing and smells better on other people. But I won't be wearing it again.

The main features of this composition is YELLOW flower (Ylang). It's nourishing cream in metal can. It reminded me Beige Chanel, but that one is more high-pitched and refined. If you're fan of white clean musk I definitely recommend to try it, but if you're looking for white-color musk, it's not the one, because it's yellow and old cold cream-ish.

Weak for a Montale, n weak for anyone I think. Starts off cool, I do get a hint of freshly ironed cotton but it fades quickly into nondescript white musk like a watered down Tesori Byzantium. Between the nuclear Byzantium n this somewhere there is a nice white musk.. still looking. The old Body Shop one & Opulent Perfumes White musks are better.

Montale White musk (tested from dabber) This is perfect for white musk lovers! It is effortlessly sexy, very easy for anyone to wear, anytime, anywhere. Pure, very fresh, clean, smooth, soothing, addictive, there is a powder feel to it, it becomes a little milky on my skin. I can smell it on my skin for hours even applied from a dabber.

Montale's White Musk is a sweet, creamy, velvety white musk scent. Starts with an apricoty-fruity note to my nose, and some clean coldness due to the violet leaf, but after drydown warms up on the skin, and becomes soft and creamy, maybe because of the ylang-ylang. Very feminine, simple comfort fragrance, perfect for everyday wear.

Beautiful fragrance. Safe to wear it at work. I'm working in healthcare and I find difficult to find a perfume suitable both for my taste and and to respect my patients sensitivity. Very close to the skin. It's a personal and selfish delight. Makes my day happier

Simply the best pure white musk out there. Beautiful. I'm not at all a Montale fan, but this is what you are looking for in category "White Musk". Believe me. They nailed it. (And they put a price tag on the perfect musk - niche politics, you know, what I mean).

This is the epitome of a fluffy white musk, it smells like clouds made of cotton balls and baby powder. I don’t think they’re dupes by any means but the fluffiness here reminds me a little bit of L’eau Papier, however White Musk is less starchy/gourmand.

On paper I could not smell much of it, so I tried on skin directly and it came out much better. Actually this is one of the best musk scents I ever smelled, but i was really disappointed on the longevity:(

This starts out as a wonderful clean cold crisp white musk very pure scent. But then as it dries down there is a metallic note that spoils it. Lasts very long. Worth testing beforehand.

Montale White Musk is a very clean white musk scent. I can't feel ylang-ylang in it. The violet makes it a cold fragrance. It lacks for me personally some warmth and depth.

This is a very clean musk. It may not be the most interesting, but it's exactly what I like in a white musk, clean without being too soapy. Very good for layering.

I’m trying to understand musks. So I bought a bottle at the discounters. Leans more feminine and clean. Office friendly. Pleasant, floral and soapy vibe.
