Comore

Comore is from a 2004 release of three fragrances meant to evoke images from islands around the world: Samar and Malaita for women and Comore (Comoros, off the southeastern coast of Africa) for men. Hidden gem, if ever there was one. Few people know about this scent- I had to order it on eBay from Germany. Comore retains all the character of a classic fougere- a lemon/herbal opening devoid of pervasive sweetness. But this coriander note really sets the citrus off on a bracing way, a deep spiciness that gives Comore a lovely, highly aromatic uniqueness. The rosemary and cypress come out after the lemon subsides, intensifying the aromatic character. All the notes remain in some degree throughout. I can detect everything except for the hazelnut- not sure that comes across. Performance is long lasting but well-mannered, as I would expect for something like this. The strangest thing is that in its very last stages, a hint of sweetness emerges. No idea where it was hiding, but there it is deep in the dry down. A nice surprise! Comore is an elegant composition, such a delight: classic in character but with a personality all it’s own. Montana does it again! Great house.

This is a sparkling spicy/citrusy lavender fougere, with a noticeable presence of coriander, of an aromatic facet (rosemary) and a piney (nearly smokey) bitter base giving an impression of oakmoss. I agree with DrNDJas that there is a surprising hint of sweetness in the base, that will slightly round the edges, without ever become really sweet. Elegant, manly, clean, original and classic at the same time. Also: the great performance doesn't hurt. Yes: Montana is definitely a great designer house! Fall/Spring, 30+

Ah,yes,this fragrance is really a well done one!A warm spicy tornado that envelopes your senses,i like it a lot!!Not groundbreaking but well constructed!

Comore — Montana Someone said this could almost be an unselected formula for some other fragrance. If true, I wonder if the prior fragrance could be New West (Aramis), because Comore is more like it than anything else I've ever smelled. There is something like a cumin note in here that could be interpreted as, um, the scent of a woman . . . which is to say, sultry. Easy to wear, but engaging, Comore is a skin scent for me but a tenacious one, with longevity extending to at least seven hours. The dry/herbal assessments seem correct, and I expect this to be an easy reach for hot weather. Last two blind buys have been barely wearable, but this is a win. Even a blind sow finds an acorn every now and again.

It says this fragrance was launched in 2004, but was actually secretly launched in 1985. ...OK, not really, but it does harken back to the days of Dior Eau Sauvage, Armani Eau, and other gentlemanly fragrances of yesteryear. It's got that sharp, citrusy opening backed up with aromatic notes; the lavender is prominent, but not suffocating, and the coriander and rosemary give it just enough kick to make it an uplifting scent. Overall, Montana Comore is a very "classic" smelling fragrance. It's fresh, clean, and subtle; not overly complex, but gets the job done well. Really pleasing stuff.
