Eau Cuivrée

I initially put my review on the first version of this, as I didn’t realise I have the newer version. I think I have misinterpreted some notes, being mislead by the notes of the original, but here’s my review: This is a lovely scent. It doesn’t smell overly vintage, but does have a vintage vibe. It’s simultaneously warm and cool. There’s a metallic tinge that, like others have pointed out, is one of a coppery tone. There’s also a a beerlike vibe that to me smells like cider. It’s not overpowering, although I think it could become too strong in hot weather. Now, in winter, this fragrance blooms beautifully though. Under the copper and cider there’s a soft, blooming mix of fruit and flowers. It reminds me of peach fuzz, like literally smelling the soft fuzzy skin of a peach, while simultaneously getting whiffs of a bouquet of flowers. The tuberose is present and gives it that bubblegum vibe, without being overpowering, the carnation is very recognisable and adds a hint of spiciness, making you second guess if there are spices in there, despite them not being listed. The whole fragrance is just so pleasant and soft and fuzzy, but then there’s this metallic tinge on top of it, giving it just the little bite to lift it beyond boring, generic or basic. The finest oil paintings are painted on copper plate. Copper being much smoother than even the finest linen or wood, alles an artist to paint in the most detailed hyperrealistic way possible. I imagine this fragrance as an oil painting on a copper plate. It’s a still life of a freshly picked bouquet of flowers, carelessly left on top of a cashmere sweater in a soft coral/ambery colour. There are plums and peaches in a small basket. Everything about the painting is comforting and warm. This is a scent I like to wear around the house. It’s not the most challenging or complex, but it’s pretty, it’s comforting and happy. I would say it’s a pretty safe blind buy.

Several things prompted this purchase, the first being that it was created by Alexandra Carlin, the nose behind my all time favorite perfume White Soul by Ted Lapidus. Second, after reviewing her perfumes this looked like one I’d be able to get behind according to the note breakdown. Third, this fit the budget. $15 for 100ml, and couple that with a cool twisty looking bottle- I’m in!! This wasn’t a love at first sniff, the packaging was just a plain tester box, the scent was pretty weak, and it had something going on that reminded me of teenage boy sweat (I think the patchouli was sticking out in a not good way). But, I did have a feeling there was something potentially redeeming and decided to spray it out and let it sit for a few months. I’ve done that now, spraying a bit here and there, checking to see if there’s an improvement. There definitely is! Vanilla is the main player, which has deepened beautifully, along with plum, carnation and praline- but what I get is some cinnamon somewhere in there, rather than nutty buttery praline. It’s also more powdery now, the heliotrope is coming out. Oh, and that patchouli has balanced and is supporting rather than dominating now. This does conjure Autumn in a bottle, or copper vibes, as it were. I asked my partner what he thought of it and he immediately liked the spicy aspect, as do I. Suggestion Eau Cuivrée was a worthy purchase for me. I was right, it does align with what I like and is unique to itself. And, just a little post script. This layers beautifully with Olympéa Intense. Each scent compliments the other without fighting for attention, both adding, neither taking away. Very nice!

I`m surprised to see I`m the first to review this one.. I have 2 perfumes from Montana already, and was curious about the Eau d`Argent, Eau d`Or and this one too..They are all unisex and recently I`ve been interested in discovering unisex scents. This one to me is somewhat reminiscent of Rochas` Lumiere, a scent I always found interesting, but never really wore, this one has the same vibe to me without the sharpness I disliked in Lumiere. The main player here is bergamot, patchouli develops and lasts a good while also whereas there is an underlying sweetness underneath these two notes - I wouldn`t say it is vanilla though, it`s something more airy. It is indeed unisex, the opening is rather feminine, but the drydown on my skin becomes more metallic and rather masculine. This in my book is elegant, different, interesting. Also, there is certainly something metallic about it, therefore the name `copper` - it aptly describes it imo.. I haven`t really tested it for longevity yet, but all in all I consider it a successful blind buy and will defo be using it.

Pretty scent, but it's last 5 minutes 🤣😭

A pleasant surprise, like everything I tried by Montana so far. It has a slight retro vibe, this rich 80s fruitiness that I am often nostalgic for. However, it doesn't feel outdated and easily could be a new niche craze, if not for funny price. I was wondering about the name - why copper? - until several hours ago (it lasts forever, too , - bonus!) I started smelling a cold, metallic accord, almost like the smell of the European city outdoors on a cold, still, snowy day. Is it amyris? I don't know, but I'm keeping this beauty for the days when I miss cities covered in snow.
