Explorer Platinum

I have to comment here that this is a total LOVE for me. I am amazed with Montblanc almost every time. For the price point, I tend to reach for Montblanc for daily wear that doesn't break the bank. My signature femme scent is Montblanc Signature. It's what I reach for if I don't want to think much about what I'm wearing, where it's worn, or when. I say "femme" because I have girly days where I just want to smell pretty and feminine. And then I have unisex days where I like a bit of a masculine scent. I enjoy GENTSCENTS and AROMATIX and their many reviews and suggestions. I met MONTBLANC EXPLORER PLATINUM, a gem of a fragrance, at a FB(CA) sale during the first week of July 2024. I ordered this Montblanc Explorer Platinum, BOSS BOTTLED ELIXIR and BDK GRIS CHARNEL EXTRAIT, and OMG don't ask me to pick one! They all are so well blended and smell great on test strip AND skin, and at the opening, middle and dry down. I wouldn't change a thing on any of them. At the prices I got them for, the were all worth every penny. I really got my money's worth with these and could NOT be any more pleased with them. Fantastic 🤩 😍. I don't really comment much on longevity because I feel like the ones that are beast mode, use one of the same 3 notes to get it there, and I'm not a fan of fragrances that all dry down to the same overused scents. I don't mind carrying a travel atomizer to refresh my fragrances. And I kind of like knowing that if my mood or situation changes in a few hours, I don't have to try to scrub a beast mode scent off from 10+ hrs earlier ;) (yes, you MEGAMARE, CHAOS, ATLAS, Erba Pura and Nitro Red - you know who you are ) I think if you want to know my top favorite men scents, the list would include THESE ARE SO PERFECT IMO: (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER) HUGO BOSS BOTTLED ELIXIR MONTBLANC EXPLORER PLATINUM VALENTINO UOMO EDT and INTENSE DIOR L'HOMME PARFUM & EDP BDK GRIS CHARNEL O.G. and EXTRAIT TF NOIR EXTREME (MEN) with honorable mentions to near perfection: TF TOBACCO VANILLE JPG LE MALE le PARFUM GUERLAIN IDEAL L'HOMME Eau de Parfum AZZARO CHROME PURE PDM PEGASUS CLUB BLACK by MERCEDEZ-BENZ MICHAEL MALUL JET BLACK PLATINUM FERRAGAMO UOMO I do NOT care for the similar overused notes in: PACO RABANNE INVICTUS HAWAAS DUMONT NITRO RED YSL MYSLF BLEU De CHANEL etc Hopefully this will let you know my style, and if my review of this mid priced fragrance of perfection is relevant to you or not.. :) I am TOTALLY in love with Montblanc Explorer Platinum. Seriously blown away. And I think each appendage has on a different fragrance from the perfection list above, and I still can't decide! I've had a full day with them and I am just at a loss. Pick one. I can't. They are all terrific. Way to go MONTBLANC tho for ALWAYS being a really safe buy and ALWAYS a great price point. MontBlanc wins on PRICE + SAFE BLIND BUY generally EVERY time. BUT THIS ONE IS just PERFECTION in a bottle and needed a detailed review. Scent, longevity, silage, price point, enjoyment 10/10

This fragrance is a true hidden gem, specially for people who like creamy woody fragrances. The fragrance opens with a fresh and slightly spicy burst of bergamot, violet leaf and sage, the same sage aromachemical used in Hermes Herbes Veves giving it an initial brightness which feels crisp and energizing along with a subtle sour undertone. This opening quickly gives way to a rich and creamy woody heart that resembles the scent profile of Australian sandalwood. The heart also brings in a subtle peppery smell along with a coconutty smell that blends really well with the creamy sandalwood smell and the green herbal sage along with the sour floral undertones that you smell in the opening. As the fragrance dries down, you'll notice the subtle influence of oakmoss, cedar and vetiver, which add a clean, earthy foundation to the scent, but it’s the sandalwood that lingers longest. The result is a scent that feels both fresh and substantial, light yet grounded, and sophisticated without being too intense. What’s particularly interesting about Explorer Platinum is its balance between freshness and richness. It’s not overpowering but also not too light. The fragrance strikes a perfect middle ground, making it versatile enough to wear both during the day and into the evening and more importantly across all four seasons. It’s a fragrance that feels both professional and sensual, suitable for almost any occasion. In terms of longevity, Explorer Platinum performs admirably lasting around 6-8 hours with moderate to strong projection for the first few hours. The fragrance’s woodier notes, particularly the sandalwood, help it hold up well over time, so you’re left with a lingering warmth that’s perfect for both day and night wear. It doesn’t fade too quickly, and the projection is noticeable enough to be intriguing without being overpowering. Explorer platinum vaguely reminds me of Le Labo’s Santal 33 minus the smokiness and earthyness. This fragrance is brighter and zesty in my opinion. This fragrance is perfect for someone looking for something elegant yet approachable. The balance of freshness and woodiness makes it versatile enough for both professional settings and casual wear. If you want something that’s sophisticated and comfortable without being too intense, Explorer Platinum is a great choice. For me personally, this is a solid office scent for all seasons if you dress formally. Explorer Platinum brings a more refined, sophisticated vibe to all occasions and age groups. I give it a solid 7.5/10.

Wow! This is my new favorite in the Explorer line (granted, I have yet to try Explorer Extreme). Platinum is fresh, woody, and it's got this creamy, almost coconut-like and somewhat ozonic note to keep it clean. Although this doesn't have much to do with the OG Explorer or Ultra Blue, I think I've cracked the theme of this Montblanc line- everything is made easy to wear, subtle but nuanced and suitable for most situations- anywhere you might go exploring. Platinum reminds me of a sauna. The woods are very comfortable and spa-like, not too dry, just a bit saturated. There is a touch of sweetness to this but it is dry and laid back to contrast the woods. On my skin the blend comes through very nicely and it projects for a few hours before settling down close to skin. This may just be my new signature scent, it's really quite wearable and I got myself a 200ml bottle. Unlike the OG Explorer and Ultra Blue, Platinum feels like a more unique, slightly niche DNA. Explorer is obviously the woody pineapple Aventus blend and Ultra Blue is just another blue, but Platinum is finally something special in the Explorer line. Longevity is decent, about 6-7 hours. Projection is not room-filling, but that's not something I want for an everyday fragrance. From what I've read on other comments, this may not be blind-buy safe, but to my nose I feel like this is very nice. I like the bottle design, though the silver fabric wrap does show more scuffs and fingerprints when compared to the darker wraps on the other bottles. Edit April 5, 2025: This fragrance feels like a clean white shirt. It can be dressed up and worn formally, like a collared button down, or it can be dressed down and worn casually, like a plain tshirt. This really gives the impression of being clean and put together, this is a fragrance for somebody who will wear it with confidence in every situation they choose. Batch 0JP24P128

So I purchased Explorer Platinum last night, sprayed some on my neck/chest and I LOOOVED the scent, but was dissapointed bc it didnt seem to last more than an hour or so (to MY nose.) So I put my bottle away, woke up today still dissapointed in thinking bout my recent blind-buy, so as usual to test it I applied a couple spritzes to my arm to see how it wore, and YEEEP! I had gone copletely nose-blind last night bc Id sprayed it on my neck, close to my face! The two spritzes Id put on my arm lasted ALL DAY, and Id continuously get whafts of it throughout the day so yes, Explorer Platinum does indeed have excellent performance! The scent is a woody aromatic which starts off slightly herbal, slightly powdery and is quite Masculine. What Id also noticed almost immediately was the similarity in the base to Santal 33 and Im surprised that more people don't bring that up bc to my nose its UNDENIABLE! Now, EP isnt a "dupe" or and "Inspired by", it simply carries that same woodiness as Santal 33, but thats NOT the main player in this dna so owning both wouldn't be redundant imo. I am now so happy with my blind-buy and Im glad I didnt fully make my mind up on my "Fist Impression" regarding Explorer Platinum!

Okay, I really like Explorer Platinum a lot. I was complimented on it the very first day I wore it; someone asked if I was wearing something because they kept catching a great smell. It's masculine, fresh, and could easily be a year-round scent–it's working well now in spring and I expect it will in hotter weather too. The silver color fits it well: it's a crisp, cool, clean, forest-y fragrance that's classically manly. You'll go noseblind except for brief whiffs, but it lasts a long time, especially on clothes: I have a sweater I wore four days ago hanging on a chair and notice it every time I walk past. I didn't even spray it on my clothes, that's just from sitting on my skin. Other reviewers complain the opening has an unpleasant fart note on skin. It kinda does... and it obviously worried me the first time I put it on. It's weird, but it goes away in like two minutes or less, and you're left with a really nice scent. Overall, great buy, especially for like $35 for 100mL. I find myself reaching for it frequently.

Hidden Gem from Montblanc! So out the radar! It is not a commercial fragrance as most of the brand's fragrances. Like a niche concept. Green, Salty, creamy wood fragrance Tons of sage, salty notes, dry spices (even it is not listed, it has this feeling), creamy woody base with a hint of floral. Starts woody dense, closed, green, leafy and little bit powdery and it evolutes to more birght, aromatic, creamy, salty, sage and woody fragrance. Fresh, classy/formal, fancy, and very unique. So artistic. Even it is easy to wear, it doesnt fit for any moment or dressing. Maybe doesn't work for very hot summer days. Many people points the buttery smell, yes it has, but for me it is very charming and unique. Explorer Platinum can be described as Gourmmand by this point of view, I really feel as "cooking and warming butter with sage leaves", so realistc, delicious, mouthwatering and good memories from cooking nice dinner. Beast mode perfomance: easily 10+ hours on my skin and heavy sillage for 3-4 hours.

Airy cedar is the best way I can describe Explorer Platinum. It's like a heavy dose of powdery, creamy woods which may not be for everyone according to blind buyers... lol. However first time I smelled it at Boots in-store, I was hooked. I had to buy some and it became my signature scent for the better part of 2 years. Cedar is often an over-used woodsy note but everything in Platinum is well blended, almost to the point of linearity. There's a creaminess in there too which creates a coconut-y scent and it's brightened a little by the clarysage. It's like a fine soap or deodorant where you can just throw it on and you'll smell clean and very inoffensive for most of the day. Price to performance is fine and the presentation is excellent and professional. Reminds me almost like something a car designer fragrance would release, more so than anything like Bentley or Mercedes because of its stitched textured faux-leather jacket and little badge.

You're spraying too much too close if you're having issues with this fragrance. I initially didn't care for this flanker of my already beloved Explorer the first time I ever sprayed it on a tester strip, but once I put a couple sprays on from about 8-10" away, I loved it. My skin really brings out a nice, crisp, woody-sage-y smell that gets a ton of compliments. It has some lavender properties to it on my skin as well, but nothing overwhelming or chemical-esque. I 100% love this fragrance on my skin, and I've never had an issue with it smelling like literal feces. It does come off a bit soapy in the first few minutes for me, but the dry-down is very warm and woods-y for me. I would rate it a strong 7/10 as while I do love it, I still prefer scents such as the Burberry Hero EDP for an even warmer and more inviting winter/spring/fall scent than what this can provide.

I really like this one. Mainly woody in the opening but quite fresh as well. I only slightly smell the coconut and it is not sweet. It’s a unique scent, not spicy or sweet like many others, very sage and herbal focused. Masculine but not loud, I mostly smell sage and a pine type note in there. It’s not complex or super deep, more of a niche ‘molecule’ smelling cologne IMO. It does change and transition throughout tho! More classic woody in drydown, but it’s not crazy masculine and a little powdery to offset it. I’d say it’s a great daily for the gym and office, but despite that I don’t think it’s a safe blind buy. Initially some note in there made me nauseous but I got over that. Good longevity and projection, you’ll stand out but not in an offensive way. I think it’s very versatile, I cannot box it into a season or time of day. Definetly worth a shot. 9/10

This is my 4 words to describe this fragrance : Sexy - Creamy - Woody - Coconut. I blind bought this and was not expecting this scent profile but i really like it. the violet leaf with the cedarwood do most of the lifting and combined together you get this creamy woody almost metallic coconut smell thats very addictive. It projects nicely and leaves a nice scent trail. BTW this DOES NOT smell at all like the OG explorer, this could easily be its own line. It also has a little bit of Santal 33 vibe.. My first time wearing this with only 4 sprays my 60 year old male co worker told me I smell pretty and that he got an erection from it, (I hope he was joking) so yeah take that as you will lol. SMELL: 10/10 SILLAGE: 8/10 LONGEVITY: 6-8 hours SEASON: spring-summer-fall, day time SETTING: casual, outdoors, gym, office MY SCORE: 9/10

This scent is 10/10 to me. A perfect balance of freshness with hints of sweet notes and woody undertones. This fragrance is extremely versatile, it has become my signature scent, wearing it to the gym, office, and in the evening. Smells nothing like the original so I was skeptical at first but it has grown on me as such a unique and well blended scent. I just can't get enough of it, sometimes I just spray it in the air before I go to sleep to get one more sniff of it. Only downside is it has average projection and longevity, so I would suggest using a couple extra sprays. I usually do around 8 and have gotten multiple compliments. Mont Blanc have done something very special and unique with this new fragrance. Amazing value for money so pick it up asap.

Keeping price in mind i would give this a 8 out of 10. Nice woody slightly sweet scent. This can easily be your 1 fragrance for every season, every day, every occasion. I would say it is universally likeable but seeing the reviews, that is probably not true. So maybe try it out or start with a small bottle. I also really like the original but they are nothing alike. Both are everyday scents for very different people. The original is for the men who wants to be seen. Slik and sexy. Platinum is for the profesional. Doesn't need to be loud, just is effortlessly attractive. Maybe in a dress shirt, maybe some flanel.

Very nice formula. Remarkable potency, sweet in a balanced way (coconut-like), and very sophisticated or gentlemanly. Violet overpowers everything, with a soft wood that lasts for half a day. Could pass as unisex. My cousin praised my perfume choice immediately after our first hug and asked if I was wearing Santal –a more upscale alternative–. Could wear Explorer Platinum any time of year bar Winter and mostly for formal encounters or dressy social gatherings. Great performance and sillage; three or four sprays is more than enough. This is to become a permanent piece in my mid-size stockpile of fragrances.

This is a long lasting fragrance. Notes presented here are misleading. Opening is synthetic- smells like banana like but after a while you can smell thosze ozonic violet leaves with woody takes. The woodiness is lingering with notes of leather shoe polish in a good way. People LOVE this fraggrance on me, saying things that I smell really nice and masculine! Weird - not a typical "fad" fragrance DNA but still gets the right compliments. I usually wear this in the office and pretty much lasts the whole day. Projection is 3-4 hours but only near me, but sillage is always there. Good buy for the price.

Holy shit. I really, REALLY like this, the clary sage and the violet are very present, it's not your typical shower gel fragrance and it has nothing to do with past iterations of Explorer. Haven't smelled anything too similar to this, weirdly enough it reminds me of Vetiverich by Zara a bit. My mom didn't like it on me at all tho, she said I smelled like "some old shoes". But man do I care, crazy shit, it also latched to my skin like an octopus, the damn thing lasted straight up 10 hours on my hand after I sprayed it in the fragrance store. I'm gonna cop this soon, and you should too.

Je suis prof au lycée. J'ai appliqué le parfum à 7h10 le matin avant d'aller au travail. Je l'ai appliqué huit fois sur le cou, les épaules et derrière les oreilles. Les compliments ne cessèrent de pleuvoir tout au long de la journée. À 11h30, j'avais cours. Je suis entré en classe et une élève, qui était au dernier rang, m'a dit à haute voix : « Quel beau parfum, professeur ! » Et après une heure, une enseignante m'a dit qu'elle avait senti ma présence dans l'étage grâce à mon parfum. Un parfum qui dure longtemps, qui est original et que les filles aiment beaucoup.

I am a high school teacher. I applied the perfume at 7:10 in the morning before going to work. I applied it eight times on my neck, shoulders, and behind my ears. Compliments kept coming throughout the day. At 11:30, I had a class. I entered the classroom, and a student sitting at the back row loudly said, "What a lovely perfume, teacher!" And after an hour, a teacher told me she could smell my presence on the floor because of my perfume. A long-lasting, original fragrance that girls really like.

Such an underrated scent. If you want a signature scent, you like to smell woody and you don't want to spend to much, this is for you. I feel that way because this is a very strong scent that will last you all day but also fresh so it won't be cloying. Woody scents around this price range often don't last and i generally find them quite boring. Like the Dsquared ones and the Issey Miyake ones. this one Is more distinctive and will easily be picked up. it gets my thumbs up.

Any icy and refreshing scent. Not sure why it gets so much hate. It has the woody creamy coco-nuttiness of Paul Smith London or Bvlgari Wood Essence and the refreshing violet notes of Boss Bottled Unlimited minus the fruity notes. It’s clean, simple and linear with impressive longevity and sillage. There’s nothing “grandad” or barbershop about it whatsoever, but I’d say it’s target audience is 30-50 years. It’s an office/shirt fragrance for a cooler day.

In my opinion this smells nothing like pickle juice or Santal33 Everyone’s ph plays a role so be aware To me... This smells like a fresh crisp morning Woody (I’ve been told by coworkers I smell like an elegant tree) Aromatic and Fresh If you were born in the early 90s it’ll remind ya of your dad For me 8.8/10 Good for every and special occasion Definitely signature scent worthy And lasts for me (I lotion up daily, no dry skin here) 12+ hours
