Was confused by the seeming lack of iris or musk when first smelling this and didn't care too much for it, but now that I've got it on skin a second time and it's settling, those notes become a bit more prominent. Up close, it smells like the exact same type of funky, slightly stinky leather that's in Ombre Leather, except here that leathery funk is rounded out at the periphery of the scent bubble by a kind of cold, glittery, chemical smell that's almost reminiscent of sharpies, gasoline, or - oddly enough - cocaine. Seems like it would be quite cozy in the fall and winter seasons, and the sort of thermal contrast in the qualities of the notes is fascinating. Some of the reviews here say that this doesn't last long on skin, but personally I it's probably moreso the case that the leather note is so strong that nose blindness sets in quickly, at which point the iris and musk notes are even easier to pick out. I absolutely do not recommend blind buying this since leather notes are an acquired taste, definitely pick up a sample to see if you enjoy it. If you like leather fragrances though, it's worth checking out.

Excellent leather, exactly how a new Montblanc wallet or even a laptop case smells like. Clean, sophisticated, well put together. But Juliette, my Juliette what did you do? The opening is... AMAZING. For 15 minutes... why couldn't you make ot last longer and add a bit more oomph to the composition hmm?! Probably the most civilised leather I have and had in my collection. Because it doesn't project much, is polite, maybe TOO polite... I leave Ombre Leather as my favourite leathery fragrance because it projects and has a great sillage. Nonetheless, I live this Smoked Iris. This is not for tracksuit and gym. This is for anything else but that. Excellent Montblanc, a 8.5/10 - for low projection and sillage - for the lack of "waw" + for elegance I will repurchase, as it is one of the best leather out there in terms of the blend and elegance.

I see the comparison to Ombre Leather, this is a similary clean car interior type of leather but it's much more transparent, although for me, it's first and foremost an Iris scent. At the very forefront there's soft, creamy, powdery, slightly makeupy, really beautiful iris accord you'll find in Dior Homme Original and a slightly soapy vibe in the drydown. It's like the 2 of them combined, it's really laid back, soft and relaxing for something with a prominent leather accord. I don't mind the soft projection as it feels like it's intended to be more of an intimate all season scent, but I wish it lasted a while longer considering the asking price. I think that this entire line of fragrances is really strong overall, it seems like Montblanc is trying really hard to step up their game and be taken more seriously as a fragrance house.

One of the best releases of 2024 actually. It does remind me of Ombré Leather Parfum, it's very smooth and floral. However the performance is absurd as it lasts about 30 minutes on skin. The iris here is the star of the show 🌟 💜 it's actually an alternative to our beloved but discontinued Dior Homme Parfum, however it's nowhere as classy or elegant as DHP! The scent profile is great, the leather is extremely faint and supple (barely there) and the iris with musk give a nice allure overall. I even bought a second bottle as I thought my first one was defective due to poor performance, but the second bottle is also very weak unfortunately. 📊 People who write here that it has a strong animalic leather have definitely not smelled the fragrance! This was my first step into (kind of) expensive perfumery, and I was not disappointed. The scent is simply perfect. (the notes are well described by other enthusiasts) The longevity, however, is poor. Lasts (projects) for no more than 2 hours on my skin. But for the price (1/3 of that of Parfums de Marly ́s Godolphin), I don ́t think it was a bad buy. If you are looking for a true niche long-lasting leather fragrance, however, I recommend the latter one. UPDATE (jan/25): I recently discovered other wonderful leather fragrances: Memo Irish/Italian/African Leather and TF Tuscan Leather - this one being my favourite and the leather fragrance that I would recommend.

Very charming fragrance. Smooth and elegant. You can think of it as a combination of Dior Homme Intense, and Ombré Leather by TF, but less intense, and with a nice and original touch of an "ink" vibe, which for me, it was the selling point. Sadly, its performance leaves a lot to be desired. If you are lucky, it will last for about 6 hours perhaps, with a very weak and poor sillage. Come on Montblanc!!! for the price you are charging for this, I was really expecting better performance!!!

As many have said, there is nothing extreme about this fragrance. It's an elegant, soft leather scent. It opens with a soft, suede-like leather accord. As it settles, the iris starts to come through, and it becomes a sweet, soft leather fragrance. Performance is okay, I get around 4 to 5 hours with close to moderate projection. It's a mature scent that's best suited for cooler weather. I'll definitely be repurchasing it, as my bottle is running quite low.

Meisterstuck ve bu yeni seri de öne çıkanlar. Meister de tütsü çok öne çıktığı için pek sevmedim. Mürekkep havası vermek istemişler ama.olmamis. Bu parfüm ise bence deri temalı parfum sevenlerin mutlaka alması gereken bir parça. Çünkü daha modern bir deri olmuş. Ofis ortamı icin de uygun. Bu parfümün kalıcılığı ve dağılımı biraz daha kuvvetli olsaydı bence yılın parfümü olabilirdi. Fiyat performans olarak ise başarılı.

unforgettable, refined modren fragrance, I sense masculine elegance with an edgy twist, perfect combination of spicy bergamot , rich leather and earthy wood...I'm loving the dry down which closes with a smooth powdery layer... It’s simple scent almost linear, but it’s so good like the most leather scents you can smell the leather but with heavy notes of iris ... I didn’t detect musk but maybe it gives to it some sort of personality ... this lasts forever, also it can fill the place wherever you are .. monster

Beautiful fragrance. Powdery Iris and supple leather. To me this fragrance has a sort of effervescence, it’s almost fizzy. Like a sparkling iris and leather soda (sounds odd I know). Masculine and Elegant. Definitely worth checking out.

Very very interesting, amazing evolution, from a sharp floral leather accord, to a subtle and rich drydown, delicious iris. Very elegant, office scent if you're the boss, or plan to become one. 10/10.

This is a bit more smoother than Ombré leather to my nose. Ombré leather is a bit harsh to me. This reminds me more of GoDolphin than Ombré leather. It’s a more sweeter and less gasoline leather

Of all the private collection I think this one is the best. People are not voting this for the summer but I can totally see myself rocking this here in Brazil

Perfect balance of leather and iris.

Extreme Leather by Montblanc is a floral, leathery and woody fragrance. It opens with a floral-earthy note of orris root that in this case does not feel so powdery, but rather vegetal. After a few minutes, the presence of the leather note increases, accompanied by musk, making the aroma quite luminous compared to other fragrances based on the leather note. In fact, it is a fragrance for daily and daytime use preferably, although at night as well. you can get benefit from it. At some point it gave me an olfactory illusion similar to that of ink (although of this exclusive line the one that does have an ink accord is Patchouli Ink). As I mentioned before, this fragrance could be used during the day and night, practically in any season of the year, even in summer on its rainy days. It is an elegant aroma, for formal, casual situations, weddings, etc. Its longevity lasted approximately between 8 and 9 hours, and its projection or aromatic sillage is regular, you can perceive it well and also those around you without being invasive. For those looking for a leather aroma that is brighter than dark, this is a good option, and although it is expensive, compared to other exclusive lines it is less expensive, even so I hope its price will drop in the near future.

Got a full bottle after 2 rounds of visiting Montblanc for testing. Not much more needs to be said versus what has already been said across the previous comments. But to re-iterate a couple of bits, and provide a couple of new bits: x. The fragrance has been named incorrectly; there is nothing "Extreme" about it. "Sweet Wet Suede" would have been more accurate. x. It is very pleasant, medium-simple in complexity, can be worn by female or male (but leans male), and is powdery with a fine suede note, florals and a light raspberry. x. Yes, it is similar to Tom Ford 2021 Ombre Leather Parfum (not so much the other TF Ombre Leathers), but the Montblanc is sweeter, less synthetic-smelling, and less potent -- but still has acceptable longevity and sillage. It does not evolve or devolve significantly as it dries down. x. Makes me imagine being in a Western medium-scale leather / suede manufacturing facility, with lots of old traditional red brick walls around (and some loose bricks on the old concrete floor), where the air is humid, but cool and clean, and the operations manager has placed bouquets of flowers around intermittently to brighten up the environment both visually and fragrance-wise. A nice place to be.

Not sure if I just didn’t spray enough or if it because I am sick, but I can barely smell this fragrance on my skin. However, from what I can make out, this scent is mainly focused on iris and musk, with little traces of leather. I’m not a big fan of leather, so I was hesitant to try this when I received a sample. It is a lot more floral and smooth than I expected, and the leather mainly comes out on the initial spray before fading into the background upon drydown. The name of this fragrance isn’t very fitting to the scent itself. Overall okay, but I wish the longevity was better.

It opens with a bee comb(plain bee wax) smell for about a minute, then it transitions into a dirty leather from the iris root. Fragrance is pretty linear, it is not synthetic at all, performance is decent, got it as a discounter for 50$. I think it is a hybrid between ombre leather and dior homme intense but just the main parts of them. You can rock this as a daily driver under 20C degrees, you can use it on dates and on a motorcycle for sure, it s safe for work enviornment too. No extreme leather, it's safe as a blindbuy if you like a hybrid between the two.

As other people have said the comparison to Ombre Leather by TF isn’t completely wrong. The lightness of that leather accord is similar to OL. It’s not that heavy leather as in Tuscan leather or Byredo Accord Oud. Also the combination of both flowers and leather is really similar to OL. Here instead of jasmine an iris is used which may make it a little bit soapy or powdery for some, OL doesn’t have that problem. After all it’s a great light leathery scent for formal and less formal occasions. It’s a nice affordable alternative to Ombre Leather.

Very Tom Ford in vibe, reminds me of things like Tuscan Leather and Ombre Leather, and I see other people think so too. Buy whichever one is cheapest! I recognise this particular leather aroma chemical, it's sort of suedey/tobacco pipe.. It's nice. I think you can probably buy a dupe that's a little bit similar though this is more finessed for sure. This sort of scent always reminds me of my Uncle Tom who smoked a pipe. So, a classic gentleman's scent, if a bit prevalent these days?

If you are looking for a leather fragrance, look further, this is not it. This is an iris bomb, I say iris not oris, because it's not as dark and buttery as the oris should be in my opinion. It's elegant and could be worn all year round. Doesn't have the richness and depth I was expecting, but still it's a very nice offering. Definitely totally different vibe than Ombre Leather, a distant reminder of DHP. It reminds me of a discontinued feminine fragrance- Paris, Balenciaga.

Orris truly stood out more boldly than the leather. But the animalic side of the leather was rather strong. If you’re adverse to it, try before purchasing. My skin tends to amplify the animalic nature of most scents. Overall it was a likable scent. The orris was a buttery type, not the cosmetic type, thankfully. Lasted over seven hours on skin and over twenty four on clothing.

Arugably the best from Montblanc's Private Collection. Very orris-forward: powdery, airy, an little earthy. Has hints of violets (the airiness). The leather is smooth, mature, and sophisticated. Similar to Ombre Leather and Brioni EDP. This is somewhat of a classic leather scent but very well done. A cool weather, mature scent, that leans masculine. Big "Like"

This fragrance brings to mind a blend of Cuir Zerzura and Dior Homme Parfum. I can certainly see why some might draw comparisons to Ombre Leather, particularly in its initial sillage. The scent itself is elegant and smooth, without any synthetic or harsh qualities. While it may not be groundbreaking, it is undeniably well-executed.

opens up with a fresh floral leather kinda like TF Ombre leather Parfum, then leads to a smokey cigarette like smell, not the most appealing but it's not bad and it truly depends on your skin Ph, the iris in this isn't the lipstick kind, more a floral facet, also gets great longevity, beautiful bottle I gotta say.

The opening is strong leather but after an hour I caught myself smelling my wrist and wondering why I could smell Ombre Leather or Tuscan Leather. It's not identical to those in any way, but it dries in that direction. For the price I would still stick with Ombre Leather.

Very classy, leather scent. Leather is not harsh, its almost like a suede leather mixed with some powdery iris and some kind of fruitiness. In the same ball park as TF Ombre Leather. Worth sampling Quality is also very good.

A steal for like 70$ at discounters, the quality of this whole line rivals some of the 150$+ fragrances

The first impression is quite surprising: leather is strong, deep, and sweet. However, this fragrance is suspiciously similar to another known legend of leather - Fahrenheit. The similarity is so strong that it’s impossible to tell them apart without a direct comparison - Dior’s fragrance is richer and has the famous chemical note of gasoline. Here, iris competes with leather, and for me, it’s a loss of leather - even if it occasionally stand out, the note remains too sweet and floral My personal leather benchmark is Tom Ford Ombre Leather - exactly how I expect a masculine leather fragrance to smell. Comparing these two, despite being in different leagues with different price tags, Montblanc is unquestionably defeated. While the leather itself is surprisingly similar, adding iris was the worst decision. The note grabs all attention and makes leather an extra, not a main character I mentioned Fahrenheit, so maybe it would be better to compare Extreme Leather with it? Well, technically yes. They both share a similar note of iris/violet and both are pretty dominant on a green-floral accord. But again, Dior has a more complex and interesting composition. Maybe performance is better? I might say it’s quite similar. Okay, but the price is lower, right? Depends on the location, but it’s the same or even slightly higher So what was that? Montblanc created a pleasant composition that absolutely misses the market: it’s not better, innovative, or at least cheaper than the fragrances it shares a shelf with. The composition itself is objectively good, but the reasons behind its creation are absolutely confusing. A fragrance that nobody asked for

What a hideous concoction of leather and iris it stingers the nose and makes me gag,awful.

The name didn't prepare me for what it was to follow. Yes, it has leather, but nothing extreme about it. For me the balance leather / iris leans too much towards iris, making this fragrance not that bold (not that extreme). I'm afraid I don't get enough leather from this fragrance, I don't get what I was promised. This can be very wearable for those that would like some leather note, yet don't like strong leather. Seems to be marked as a male fragrance, but I can see it as unisex. Packaging is great and terrible at the same time: the bottle is wonderful and classy, but the quantity is too much 125ml, and that's a big commitment for an uninteresting and forgettable fragrance, maybe easier to go for it in a smaller bottle. Price however, definitely not high.

First thing you should know is there is barely any iris/orris here. Nor is there much leather. This is mostly a plain jane musk fragrance. Opens up very similar to Uomo silver essence by Cavalli. Smells ok for about 2 minutes. Then the orris goes away unfortunately while a dirty suede and an ambery musk are left laying there. The further into the fragrance, you are left with mostly low grade animalic musk that smells like animal urine that doesn't blend well with the cheap suede oil that starts to smell dry and synthetic. Its ol Montblanc knocking again. I was wondering why the price of this was dropping so fast and now I know why. Cheap rack store fragrance in a nice-looking bottle. No effort was given here. Do not blind buy.

note that i am not a big fan of animalic or powdery notes - i really hate this. i got to smell it in person at a store near me and it is PUTRID. it smells rancid, comparable to stale sweat on tester paper & on my skin. it's really not to my tastes

Not even close to Ombre Leather. This smells very synthetic. Yes you can smell the leather accord but it feels cheap. I would compare it more to Velvet Oud and for the price point I do not recommend it.

Is animalic and vegetative, with an overbearing aroma of heavy duty car leather. Found this one extremely nauseating overtime and had to scrub it on. Tried it a second time with the same results.

Montblanc Extreme Leather There’s nothing "Extreme" or "Leather" about this fragrance. It opens with a vegetal and very organic iris note, resembling carrot seeds. There’s also an almond-like nuance in this iris, a feature found in some natural iris extractions. In the opening, the scent is vegetal, organic, and nutty, reminiscent of carrot seeds. Soon after, a latex-like leather begins to emerge in the background, though it lacks the strength to take center stage. At first, it smells like latex dusted with iris, which closely resembles the aroma of party balloons. The leather note lacks intensity and remains a supporting player throughout. A more fitting name would be "Extreme Orris." After a few minutes, the iris loses its powdery and almond-like facets and begins to take on buttery and creamy contours. This is accompanied by a sharp, unpleasant amber note, seemingly added to enhance performance. The drydown: A buttery iris paired with powdery latex leather and a sharp, synthetic, metallic amber designed for projection and longevity. There’s nothing animalic, nothing challenging here. Similar to Iris Malikhân, Italian Leather, and Irish Leather, but ultimately the most dispensable of the line. Longevity > Moderate. Projection > Moderate. Rating: 6/10

Reminiscent of a humble and classy all-wood-and-leather constructed study...but layered. The musk seems to push the iris note to the top here, leaving a clean and addictive aroma that revolves around a brown leather sitting sturdily at the center of this fragrance, and ultimately contributing to an olfactory sense of freshness. This fragrance dries down to a faint powdery vanilla, but unlike many other fragrances that do this, it does not emasculate (perhaps incidentally), rather it indicates that it's time to reapply - I find myself reapplying approximately every four hours. This is a layered leather, and in this respect is similar to Tom Ford's Ombre Leather. Even though Mont Blanc's Extreme Leather is not blended quite as masterfully, which is to say that the notes are relatively easily detectable from one another, it remains incredibly satisfying in its own right.

The person who compared it to TF Ombre Leather isn't (completely) wrong, IMO. Even though it starts smelling different, eventually it goes into OL territory. A very light version of OL. It's not a 1-1 copy, but the similarities are thre. Actually, I would say, it's OL with some Byredo 1996. Out of the 3 I smelled(I have yet to test the vetiver one) it's the most pleasant, and the only safe blind-buy, especially if you like the above comparisons. It lasts fine, but projection is rather low.

It do smell like a brighter version of Tuxedo mixed with a slight Ombre Leather minus raspberry. It's so easily likable that it's kind of forgettable, but great. I love smelling it, but it doesn't have much pazzzaaaaaaazz or pizooozle. Just a fresh inoffensive bright leather frag. Might be a sleeper hit.. who knows. I can't see myself pulling the trigger on a bottle for some reason. It does kinda remind me of one of the Ferragamo leather flankers, idk which one.

I got a sample and didnt have any parfume on, so for fun i blindly sprayed it on. I found the opening to be really not nice but after about 30 minutes it smelled absolutely amazing. I think the harsh leather note is the thing that put me off in the opening, but the lovely iris makes it smell fucking great. If it didnt have the opening that it does id instantly put it in my daily rotation for the coming fall and winter. 7/10 fragrance

Can't believe all the reviews stating it's similar to TFTL or Ombre Leather, this smells nothing like that. This is closer to one of the original Dior Homme or DHI or even a slight resemblance to Prada L'Homme Intense. I ended up getting an official sample and will be testing this throughout the week to get a better feel for it. Initial impressions are good and it could easily be a substitute for one of the Dior Homme's

If this is the one that has the sample reading "Extreme Leather Smoked Iris", 11/10 best leather fragrance on the market. The rest pale to me in comparison. Someone said smooth and elegant; that's it. A spiritual successor/older brother to CH Prive. Albeit more refined. Iris aside, there's a subtle undertone of violet amidst the charred, juicy leather a la Ombre Leather and Fahrenheit Parfum.

Just got the discovery kit and this one surprised me the most: I expected extreme leather, but that I got was a symphony of violets, raspberry ketone, and iris ionones, all persisting in to the dry down, where it is joined by a the sensation of suede, rather than it's actual scent. It makes me think of the late 1990s and the things Bvlgari used to put out years ago.
