Vetiver Glacier

I'm surprised all the basement experts here haven't really noticed this is an exact copy of the -regretfully discontinued- Guerlain Vetiver Extreme, which is a lovely version of the original Guerlain Vetiver but much fresher, sweeter and lighter and much less medicinal. Very similar also to the reincarnation of Vetiver Carven, a bit less citric than this one. I love it the same as I do Guerlain's Vetiver Extreme, so it's a win-win for me. To all the millenials that complain about the lack of sweetness I tell them: deal with it. Lots of people cannot stand the vanilla flavoured fragrances that cloy our senses in planes, buses and trains all over the world, that even the niche perfumers ram thru our throats in almost every release, we are getting tired of that lack of imagination. I don't want to smell like food, I can't be next to someone that smells like chewing gum or candy the whole day. This one doesnt have vanilla at all, and just for that, I love it.

Yea, this one is particularly nice. I’ve been on the hunt for a reasonably priced, modern summer sandalwood and this ticks all the boxes. I lived with the sample for a week and enjoyed it the more I wore it. I get lemon gelato and sharp vetiver in the top with a nice creamy (non-dill) sandalwood in the base. To me, the sandalwood takes center stage, and the support from the citrus and vetiver make for a very complete blend. For some reason, fresh masculine sandalwood fragrances are hard to come by. In that regard, I think this is in a league of its own. While it is different/unique, by no means is this a challenging wear. I highly recommend sampling this as sandalwood works differently on everyone’s skin depending on your chemistry. This will be in my fresh sandalwood rotation along with LV Lovers and Santal Du Pacifique.

This line is incredible, and thank god the majority of YouTube reviewers are not getting of whiff of them which keeps the online prices attainable. Most likely they're not getting free bottles from Montblanc LOL. I wrote an earlier review of this one, and since then I pulled the trigger and bought a full bottle. I have three of the four. The only drawback of this entire collection isn't really a drawback, but rather an inconvenience to my own lifestyle, and that is the size of these bottles. They come in a size larger than what the TSA would allow in a carryon bag, and since I travel for business a significant amount this is a bummer to me. However, as I said, it's not a real drawback, but I have to decant, and be denied the pleasure of using these amazing looking flacons which are very high quality.

Don't listen to the reviewers and other people. This scent is beautiful. Sure it may not be what you expect it to be. But accept it for what it is. A beautiful, warm soft yet slightly fresh scent. It has some sweetness, it has some creamy sandalwoods. It has some herby green notes going on. It has some soft vetiver lingering around. I freaking love this! Maybe a younger crowd might not pull it off. This isn't a youthful or fruity fresh scent. This does lean a little more mature. But it simply is beautiful. During the dry down. It reminds me a little of Jeux De Peau, that creamy sandal wood in this is stunning. Might not be blind buy safe. But certainly try it.

I sampled it today, one spray on the wrist, five hours ago and still going. This starts with an amazing sparkling vetiver, then dries down to a very creamy sandalwood. The quality of this fragrance is outstanding. I can tell the sandalwood is not one note, it does have Javanol but it has something else that is creating this very nice creamy effect. There is absolutely nothing off putting about it, the vetiver is lovely, and the sandalwood, albeit quiet, still nicer than what you find with overly expensive, overly hyped fragrances like Satal 33. I am going to buy a full bottle. BTW I have Meisterstuck, and Patchouli Ink. This will be the third.

I’ve just sampled this at John Lewis in the UK. I tried all 4 from the line and I think this is the most mass appealing of the 4. I can’t recall exactly but I think I’ve smelled a Jo Malone or Penhaligons that is very reminiscent of this, but this leans more masculine. It has that ‘luxury hand wash’ vibe, I also smell some of the original D&G the one in there too. Nice mass appeal, I think a woman could pull this off too. I only used a small sample spray they had and it seems to give me the impression it will last on the skin.

Like a mix of Chanel Sycomore and Santal 33 in the best way possible! And I say that because I’m not a fan of S33’s roughness or ‘pickle smell.’ This doesn’t have any of that. It’s so smooth it’s akin to the guaiac wood in L'Envol de Cartier or borderline the sandalwood in Bois des Iles! The final mix is something Aesop would make. For a Montblanc and for $77 for freaking 125ML!! This is impressive quality and value. And no, this is waaaay closer to Sycomore than EN A L'Extreme. Much creamier and more wearable than the latter.

Beautiful fragrance! Wholesome yet minimal, its notes are simple and recognisable but the juice is nuanced and very smooth ! On my skin the dry down becomes earthy and a little dirty almost like delicious natural body odor. Not sure I would wear it but I imagine it smelling really sexy on a man's man type of human, for example.

This is a nice vetiver scent. Reminded me of Le Labo Vetiver 46. Pretty earthy and dry woody, but with a nice clean icey freshness. The name nails it.

It smells exactly like peanut butter!

Shame that this magnificent composition does not maintain the smell of its opening, effusive, vigorous and very very cold, vetive glacier has very well put its name and Nathalie Lorson made a very good composition, although as all the perfumer are repeated many times and fall in places and common "accords" in his works. After that opening marked by the juniper note that binds to the freshest of the vetiver with a slight touch of ginger, radically changes to a earthy vetiver with nuances 'a la Encre Noire' But it does not become so dark and although it flirts with green part it does not lead to a "Vetiver de Guerlain", And it is precisely that background of sweet and creamy sandalwood that ends giving the identity of this fragrance, that if it had a better performance would have been incredible but stays in a good composition with a fairly lazy duration especially for its price. I think bottles were missing something to become worthy of a high range, despite being made of a very heavy glass. Montblanc remains to us as most of the time with their fragrances although some smell very well.

From the very first spritz, Vetiver Glacier opens with a robust and captivating vetiver note. It’s reminiscent of a wet, smoky, and earthy vetiver, for anyone familiar with Encre Noir. This strong opening is a delight for vetiver enthusiasts and makes it suitable for everyday office wear. After about five minutes, some light fruity notes emerge, but don't expect any overt sweetness. Instead, there's a refreshing quality from the juniper notes that adds an interesting layer to the fragrance. As it develops, around the one-hour mark, a creamy sandalwood joins the mix, creating a masculine, classic, woody drydown. In terms of performance, the scent projects well during the initial hour, especially with the powerful vetiver notes. Following this, the sandalwood base gets closer to the skin but continues to last up to seven hours on me. Overall, Vetiver Glacier is an excellent choice for daily wear, suitable for any season and particularly great for office environments. If you’re a fan of the vetiver in Encre Noir, I highly recommend giving this fragrance a try.

The juniper is pronounced in this one from the collection. On first smell it reminds me of a Moscow Mule witg the boozy efferescence like gin. Then once the perfumer's alcohol dries down the creamier sandalwood starts to creep in the back. Powdery accord was not my first guess, but that aroma of drinking a COLD Mule from the copper mug definitely paints the theme of cold and mountainous; a glacier. I think this is the first fragrance I connected the scent to the name. Just an edit: I read Montblancs statement from here andI was not aware their middle notes are ginger and nutmeg, why does fragrantica say juniper? If its ginger in the mid, then of course it reminds me of a moscow mule, you put ginger beer! I thought juniper because that is how gin is aged with florals and berries like juniper.

SAMPLE: 2ML This was quite underwhelming. More Sandlewood than Vetiver for starters. Zero Juniper. Just kind of..blah. I had high hopes with Natalie Lorsen but she missed the mark on this one. Up close, right up on the skin it's OK but in the air it falls apart. What really solidified my thoughts was when I got into my girlfriends car and she gave me a weird look and said "is that you?, that smells like that? Your wearing something new aren't you?..oh my god it stinks! You smell like the rocks from a dirty fish tank or the inside of a crab or something, that's disgusting ! " The dramatic complaints and gag noises went on for about an hour until thankfully we got outdoors. Now, I can't unsmell the fish tank rocks and yes, that's quite accurate. I would definitely recommend sampling first. I wore a sample of Extreme Leather last night and that much better, but I'll save that for the review of EL. Projection is available for the profile. Longevity is pretty good, I still smell it, albeit faint, 8 hours later. Overall I'd give this low 6 out of 10.

Mid tier response to a mid-tier frag. I bought it on the strength of its Perfumer having produced some of my favorites, and generally good public response to the line. It's garnered comparison to the Encre Noire lineup, but outside of sharing Nathalie Lorson as the creator, let the comparison stop there. This carries none of the dark atmosphere of Lalique's well regarded and popular line. It's that weird pickley scent of faux-vetiver upfront, a little bit of smoke and clean on the dry down. And it fades to pretty much nothing in minutes. I got it for around 60 bucks, but MSRP is 160, and most discounters are selling it around the 80-90 dollar mark. Unfortunately, It's worth around 40. I also think I'll stop worshipping Nathalie Lorson.

Yea no. Take tom ford's grey vetiver, remove everything opulent and citrus, add the FAINTEST sandalwood (it's not even there...) and call it vetiver glacial. This stuff is alarmingly disappointing. It's simply dusty ass vetiver. As someone that finds plenty to love in fragrance, this has nothing to spend money on. Anyone really buying a scent that has MAYBE 2 perceived notes, and spending like, 200$ a bottle on it, are INSANE. even BR540 and Le male elixir have more creative notes then this. Alarmingly bad from Lorson. Easy skip for anyone that like unique scents, or isn't 85 years old.

I'm hoping my 15 ml travel sizes are fakes. Lmfao if not, this stuff is trash. Pure vetiver. Pass. I don't want to hear "well I love vetiver!" It's a boring note to do so strong, solo. This is still not a performer, so it's still a solid pass, even if you LOVE vetiver. Again, I hope this 15ml is a fake.. LOL

Strong opening of Juniper and Vetiver, no hint of Sandalwood at all throughout the life of the scent. Very fresh green and bright. Its a masculine old man scent. Non-offensive and fresh, lasts 3-4 hours on skin then settles into a soft-grass and vetiver. Suitable for all seasons.

This smells nothing like Encre Noir L'Extreme. Not even a remote similarity Nathalie Lorson made this? She has made some incredible fragrances... I am not a fan of this at all.

Quite literally horrible. This is like a diet inimitable Pennhaligon. But with added notes of gasoline and sharpie. Please. Do not blind buy this. 0/10

Vetiver Glacier by Montblanc is an earthy, woody and aromatic fragrance. From the opening you smell the note that gives its name to the fragrance, vetiver. A very realistic, earthy, herbal and dry vetiver, which in this case is not even accompanied by citrus fruits as is traditional in fragrances based on this note. After a few minutes the aroma is enriched with sandalwood, giving it a sensual, very rich sensation and then it no longer shows any changes in its olfactory development. Vetiver Glacier is an elegant fragrance, more for daytime use than nighttime use, it could be used in any season of the year, and it is a very good option for office work. As for its longevity, for me it was a disappointment as it lasted between 5 and 6 hours at most, and I say it's a shame because I really liked the aroma a lot. The sillage was also very close to the skin. When I tried it I felt that it was a fragrance that I would like to buy, so I will try it again to give it another chance, but if the performance is the same again I will discard it.

Have this since late 2024 so thought I’d give a quick review. This smells 90/95% similar to patchouli ink, not surprising as it’s from the same collection but I think if you like both just go for the cheaper one, in my case it was vetiver glacier which I got for €40 cheaper although looking back now I probably would’ve got patchouli ink as i quite enjoy ink as a note, vetiver glacier has slight ink undertones which is outshined by the fresh earthy and airy vetiver. On my skin I get around 5-6 hours working 8-10 hours skin scent, with a moderate projection for about 2-3 hours. Its a solid fragrance however I do think there are better alternatives on the market (such as patchouli ink) I’d personally recommend Santal volcanique by Maison Crivelli or Santal Blush by Tom Ford. I’d give it a 7.5/10 overall, great fragrance but probably the worst from the collection

Gen Z is to blame for the trend towards syrupy, sweet fragrances. Millennials are the ones to blame for the ambroxan trend of the 2000s and 2010s; they have literally nothing to do with the current landscape of sickly sweet fragrances. That's the Gen Z TikTok kids ;) The very youngest Gen Y's/Millennials are 30 now, and the oldest are 45. That generation hasn't dictated trends for at least half a decade now... This site is full of "confidently incorrect" people like yourself. Also, Guerlain Vetiver Extreme is an infinitely better-smelling fragrance than this discounter bottom-shelf rubbish...

This scent is very linear and opens with the fresh and earthy scent of vetiver, and with a spicy glow of ginger intertwined with the warm spice of nutmeg. So... but it's only a brief sensation of aromatic freshness and shimmering clarity. Don't be fooled! It soon reveals an invigorating and very present note of juniper, adding an aromatic woody green nuance of pine. A musky touch brings out a slight powdery facet. I confess that I expected something much fresher. The name of the perfume doesn't make any sense. The scent then settles quickly into a warm, comforting base of milky sandalwood and the striking woodiness of cedarwood, providing a smooth, woody finish that overpowers the initial freshness with a sense of depth.

The vetiver note here is utterly gorgeous, and alongside the freshness supplied by juniper it's incredibly evocative of a holiday I remember, staying with a friend in a cottage in the middle of a Scottish Highland forest in June. We found fresh salad, herbs and vegetables in the garden and rice in the cupboard, and that was honestly just perfect for a light meal. After dinner we lit the fire, found a bottle of single malt whisky, then lit a vetiver incense stick. The lingering scent of that incense is perfection for me. And Vetiver Glacier echoes it. Love.

I gotta echo the last review, it is very close to Guerlain Vetiver Extreme. And it's an overall good fragrance although it is a bit too linear and shy. It's not a fresh Vetiver, it's not a smoky Vetiver, it's not a balsamic Vetiver either. Vetiver Extreme was darker and fresher at the same time. This one leans a bit too sweet for my taste, it doesn't project a lot but it seems to last a while on the skin. Office safe, mature, sort of cozy but a bit muted if I can say. There is definitely Vetiver but I miss the Glacier

I’ve been working through the discovery set working from home today, and I just could not like this. Instant coffee breath over a roll on sandalwood would from a New Age shop. It’s just plain unlikeable to me, and I quite like vetiver, juniper, and sandalwood in a lot of things. No effervescence, no sweet elements to balance out the dry woods, just relentless bitter woodiness overlaid with coffee breath, and it’s clearly not good coffee that the person has been drinking.

I've sampled this twice, I love vetiver but I don't like this, I find it too "flat" with only the earthy, sharp aspects of vetiver present. It seems to lack any of the natural grassy, fresh or smoky tones I like on vetiver scents. I'd take Malizia Uomo over this.

Lovely scent, and quite subtle for a men’s perfume. The sandalwood note brings to mind the smell of an artist’s studio. Men (and everyone else), please wear this instead of those soapy musk bombs you love so much!

This is okay, but a bit underwhelming. If you are yearning for a vetiver/juniper combination, the grossly-overlooked Lalique Encre Indigo is your better bet, especially as it is now less expensive than this one.

A pleasant vetiver opening quickly followed by a lactonic sandalwood à la Santal33, minus the suede leather note. Others have mentioned this as well, and I found this description spot-on.

Love the quality here. There's a sweetness, there's a fresh almost minty vibe. Grassy vetiver, fresh and creamy base. Definitely enjoyed wearing this today. Perfect for a rainy day.

vetiver opening reminding Guerlain Vetiver. Then hours later sandalwood emerges... sweet sandalwood slowly fades out. Projection is good enough for few feet.. personal use.

I wonder if Nathalie Lorson constructed this as an extension of Encre Noire since she wasn't used to make that new EN Indigo flanker. That would be incredibly awesome!

Otto Hesselbom, Winter Night in the Forest, 1907. Notes: Haitian Vetiver, Pine Tree and Javanol (Sandalwood). Pros: Very artistic fragrance.

The same vetiver from Boss The Collection Elegant Vetiver, removing the pistachio and adding a creamy, sweet sandalwood. Super safe!

Nathalie has done it again. Wonderful fragrance, but I'm unsure about the value compared to her other Vetiver fragrances she made.

Opening is vetiver. Drydown is sandalwood. Vetiver is not too harsh. Sandalwood is creamy like in TF Santal Blush

My favorite of the line , very very good quality.
