Sorbet

Another discontinued scent from my beginners' coconut sampler pack - I really wonder why they include so many of those; what's the point in sampling things that are (almost) impossible to find, especially for "beginners"? Luckily, this one isn't so great that I can't live without it either, saving me from a doomed love affair, although it's pretty nice. I'd never heard of MOR before and I know nothing about it: is it something they sell in supermarkets in some other country, an exclusive niche brand or something in between? Based on my experience I'm guessing that last one, but I really have no idea. That's probably a good way to sample a perfume: no expectations or prejudice. It starts rather synthetic - I'm guessing the citrus notes aren't of the highest quality and they react strangely with the coconut, or else my sample has already gone off a little. But after only a little while it develops into quite a nice, tropical coconut. At first it's pretty fresh, almost sparkling, and I can understand why it's called "sorbet", but as time goes by the sweetness only gets richer and milkier, the vanilla becomes more and more prominant, and the sorbet turns into more of a regular dessert. Pretty delicious without smelling overly edible, and both longevity and projection are just fine. So all in all this is very nice, albeit a little generic. Even though it feels pretty futile to be reviewing this, I'm glad I got to sample it - but I'm equally glad that the thought of its discontinuation won't be keeping me up at night.

This is a very sticky scent that I expected to feel lighter and more sugary, due to the sugar cube and marshmallow notes that are listed, but it is a heavy coconut-vanilla that reminds me of coconut suntan oil, or coconut scented lotion. The lime was only detectable briefly in the opening, for me. Otherwise it is a fairly linear scent. You have to be able to wear coconut well, in order to pull this one off!

Sweet milky coconut with a hint of lemon-lime and a touch of coriander.

This is a nice, subtly "tropical" fragrance, that doesn't attack you with a pineapple. Coconut is mild and genuine, not the synthetic coconut note found in many body lotions, but more like coconut milk. Vanilla is warm and pleasant. Unfortunately, there is a "burnt sugar" note that I find quite generic. This fragrance would do much better without it. But all things considered, Sorbet still scores higher than many other fragrances in the tropical/beach category and is worth testing.

Linear, milky, tropical coconut scent. It is very strong and sweet. Once it begins to fade it smells wonderful. Lasts for easily 8 hours. This perfume announces your arrival and receives many compliments.

I can see why this was discontinued, it smells like they took a heavy lemon lime scented floor cleaning fluid and added coconut to take the edge off. Awful!
