N 8

Morph is my new favourite. I loved it with Zeta and was planning on buying that one, but eventually chose N.8 today at the shop. I just loved the brand's 'slowness.' All their perfumes are so unobtrusive, yet classy. While Zeta is quite plain, but distinct, N.8 is multi-layered and versatile. You can wear it anywhere, and it'll smell good despite the time of the year and the weather. It has that 'something' (perhaps it's white musk) that gives the smell a solid base, and the perfume is just so well-blended, slow, and smooth. It's my new love, and you hear it from someone who dislikes 90% of all modern scents. PS I wore it a couple of times and got compliments from both men and women. This is despite the fact that the sillage of this perfume is literally non-existent and that I feel that it sits too close to the skin.

The uniqueness of this fragrance emanates from the quality of the ingredients and the process by which it is made. The use of natural ingredients, a slow, gentle distillation process and precious woods all contribute to create something very special. some say it's as rich as a rare dessert but so light as if it melts on your skin, some say it smells like an expensive pastry but so smooth and tasteful, some say it's not too sweet but so velvety and tempting. the fragrance is rich, sweet and soft, all perfumes are not created equal, and some are phenomenally better than others. ours, for instance, is not just a fragrance. it's an experience.

I have been looking for the perfect lilac fragrance for a while now. I have a couple that are very photorealistic but they are sharp and don't wear well alone. This, however, is my lilac holy grail. Something about the combination with the iris is just amazing. I resprayed on my lunch break just so I could have the experience all over again. I didn't need to respray, as it's an extrait and long lasting. It has become my #1 favorite scent out of over 600 bottles. I can't get enough!

I am so impressed by this house. This is such a smooth and sweet fragrance, but not too sweet. It thought there was raspberry in the opening because I get a fruitiness, however it is not listed in the notes here. I think this is a year round playful and violet forward fragrance that is soft and melts into the skin. This may be my next purchase. I bought Disumano from this brand, and love that one when I want a fresh gourmand.

This is like a diet version of Casamorati Gran Ballo. Even though the notes are very different, they share the same vibe, especially in the opening. While Gran Ballo dries down to an almost cloying vanilla-musk, N8 stays floral. With N8 projection is more intimate, it’s airy and floral. Hence, a diet version. It does last a good 6-8 hours on clothes (if sprayed a second time upon initial drydown), but it doesn’t project at all. The iris in N8 has a vague resemblance of the iris note in Rouge Assassin by Jovoy, although Rouge Assassin is way more powdery, dry, heavier and not as sweet as N8. At first spray N8 reminded me of many floral designer perfumes, but as I wore it, it seemed as the notes were more delicate and airy in N8. It doesn’t have that synthetic feel, that many designer perfumes have. It’s interesting how Morph created an iris-lilac-violet fragrance that isn’t really powdery, but instead has a sweet vibe similar to gardenia fragrances.

Tested via a sample ordered from Jovoy. A very pleasant and feminine scent that stays close to the skin. The composition feels incredibly natural. It opens on a surprisingly sweet note, almost like juicy berries, before revealing a soft, floral and powdery base. Subtle, delicate — but sweeter than expected at first spray.

The first perfume i’ve tried from Morph, namely Iconic, was a sweet bomb based on florals. It felt kinda interesting due to the sweetness seemingly pouring directly out of the florals. To be fair, i don’t get a drasticly different scent from No. 8, only this time its not nectary white florals but Lillac. The resulting scents aren’t terribly far from each other, especially in the drydown. Being a perfume house from my country, even if not morally correct, it would be expected from me to display a bit of a positive bias towards the perfumes but honestly thats just not my way. My problem with both perfumes is that they come across smelling blunt, kinda like room freshners, No.8 even more so. Its the result of very bright and saturated notes coupled with amplified bubble-gummy sweetness present in both. The notes aren’t screetchy, cheap or harsh by any means, but they lack a natural softness, roundness or delicacy for my taste. As it is, they smell "square" instead of being round and authentic. The lillac note is pretty and VERY present but neon bright, loud and sweet. To put things in perspective, on my first impression i was convinced that its an Invictus or YSL Y EDP inspiration. Its the same type of perfumery and even the scent itself is heading in that direction, only a feminine version. Instead of bubble-gummy apple we get bubble-gummy lillac. In terms of quality of blend its on par with the multi-million dollar designer companies so kudos for that. I doubt performance is an issue with eighter of the two i’ve tried, not with all the modern materials that lift up the scents. I don't wish to deter anyone with my impression because at the end of the day it all boils down to taste and personal preference. Objectively speaking these are compliment pulling, pleasant perfumes but im past that stage in my journey. With most creations i try to see what story they tell, or atleast build my own story around them. I moved away from testing designer scents because they leave me numb from this point of view and sadly its the same experience with the two Morph’s. They are the equivalent of a McDonald’s Hamburger compared to a proper Burger made at a restaurant or burger house. Sure it tastes fine and it fills the stomach. Kids and teenagers love it and you would have a hard time finding someone who hates it but it will not win any cooking awards or stay memorable and i apologise for my honesty.
