Daisies

Im a very hard person to please when it comes to perfumes. The scents at normal perfumeries make my nose hurt of the alcohol, too strong scents make my stomach go bad. I've smelled perfumes I've liked before, but never one that'd make me close my eyes and enjoy it for a second, like in ads for Lenor Unstoppables. This one did it for me. It's fruity, weirdly enough smells like fig without there being any fig in it and dries down like vanilla. I'm not a perfume professional, meaning I don't know all the right terms, don't know what 'sandalwood' smells like, but I do know this scent is worth the, quite expensive, price tag. If you love fruity scents, don't hesitate to buy it!

Reminds me of the apple from Yoko Ono's One Woman Show. In order to visualize mortality and the passage of time, Yoko would display the fruit on a podium until it rotted. But as the story goes, she and John Lennon met when he decided to do a mini reenactment of Genesis before the show opened. This pissed her off, and based on Yoko's retelling, that was exactly what he meant to do. Despite this transgression changing both of their lives for the better, as well as its clear inspiration to Yoko’s future work, it was decadent and entitled. It was a moment where someone was navigating the world with the assumption that everything belonged to them, and acting upon it. John was one of the first people to even see this apple, and before anyone else could even interact with the piece publicly, he claimed it as his own. Even though Yoko could, theoretically, easily replace this apple, the message it sent was damning, especially with John’s reputation. Yoko punished John with a furious look on her face, and he apologized before putting it back on the stand. This image makes sense for a perfume inspired by Vera Chytilova’s proto-punk classic Daisies . In the film, two hedonistic teenage girls represent a wasteful European ruling class. They run through Prague and happily consume everything they find, without much thought for anyone else. Based on the copy, the perfume is supposed to smell like a sweet, abundant banquet that slowly rots. To my nose, it’s much more like that once-bitten, now slightly less fresh apple. Yuzu adds a bright, potent zing to the opening of Daisies, like the thirst-quenching first taste of an especially juicy apple. The citrus fades quickly, but the apple is still there, albeit a little less shiny than before. It doesn’t decay wildly though, the same way I imagine that apple in Yoko’s gallery didn’t. It’s still a perfectly decent apple, but it’s not as fresh as it would be if it had been left alone. But instead of complicating Daisies, this oxidization adds an approachable maturity to the scent. It would be the perfect recommendation for a millennial woman who grew up loving Be Delicious, but wants something a little more mature. It’s an only very slightly dirty apple with a tiny hint of chocolate. Daisies is a nice perfume, and it does, more or less, make the statement it intended to make. But like many niche scents, it talks a big game that it doesn’t quite live up to. This is such a promising idea, and it’s hard not to lament what it could’ve been. Since the film Daisies is a satire, I would’ve loved to see a perfume with a similar sense of humor. That opening reminds me so much of 2000s fruity florals, and if I had my way, this would be more like Viva La Juicy, but with a real gnarly, discordant base. I would love a scent that’s more complex and less afraid to offend. It’s a solid scent, but not quite what it wants to be, and nothing super memorable. It’s the beginning of the movie, before it gets interesting.

Cut grass and a little aquatic. If it were a color it would be lime green and yellow. Reminds me of one of those neon y2k iPod ads for some reason??? And playing in a blow up swimming pool in the backyard. I get some apple and jasmine too. Smells clean and grassy. I can’t find any connection with the film it’s inspired by and don’t necessarily love the smell due to mostly getting grass which is not my ~vibe~, but it’s a clean, bright and energetic summer scent.

Ok I’m changing my rating from 3 to 4 stars! If this were a color it’d be lime green and white. After about 30 minutes I get a bit of the peach and leather/cedar. Yuzu if you were also smelling it with leaves and grass. It took me a bit to get anything other than bright green grass. I had a sudden memory of playing at recess and any time a fragrance conjures a memory for me, especially one I haven’t thought of in a long time I gain more appreciation for it!

A technicolor dream in a bottle. This is a unique, avant-garde gourmand that balances fruity sweetness with an aquatic edge. The crispness of green apple and watermelon meets the unexpected warmth of chocolate and hazelnut for a result that is playful yet complex. Main prominent notes on my skin: green apple, watermelon, chocolate, and hazelnut. Smells Like: Eating a fruit tart in a neon-lit rainstorm; vibrant, quirky, and totally surreal.

Sweet, a bit powdery or lactonic. Apple, jasmine and vanilla are the most prominent notes on my skin. It’s very pleasant, polite, which it the polar opposite of the movie inspiration. I expected this smell to be more adventurous and fresh, but I don’t really mind. For me it has a striking similarity to Cow from Zoologist. While it’s not cheap, it could be treated as a more affordable alternative.

I get the green apple/ melon and yuzu loud and clear. Not so much the peach. Possibly a hint of rose. Not much else. A well balanced fruit salad. I have tried six from this series and not being a big fruit fan this is my least favourite, though I cannot fault the quality or blending. My favourites are The Virgins/ Mood Indigo. Love Exposure/ La Haine and Blow Up are close runners up.

My thoughts after blindly testing: Very unique smell of fresh fruits from the garden mixed with a herbal scent of the wild flowers. I can also feel something green in it with a dill kind of note. On my skin it smells like a sweet pickle, unfortunately.. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Smells like a greener and less creamy variant of dandelion butter by clue, which is one of my favorite perfumes OAT.

The opening was gorgeous, a refreshing Watermelon and Fresh Cut Grass. It did smell like it had a Flowery undertone. Couldn’t tell if it was the rose or the jasmine or the combo. There’s a plasticky note that almost bothered me. But it was the dry down that drove me away. PEACH AND LEATHER! Two notes that I just never liked. All the freshness went away. No more melon or grass Just Peach and leather. No thanks!

the initial spray smells exactly like the opening of cow by zoologist, a flowery lawn with a hay-like smell and the lactonic accord of freshly squeezed raw milk. even though milk is not listed in the notes, i always get reminded of cows when i smell this lol. green sour apple seems to be the most obvious note to my nose, staying throughout the entire time

This is a weird, strange and complex fragrance. Without a doubt it's very unique and not a crowd pleaser. Definitely not generic. It opens up screechy. And it smells like an overripe fruit with floral, musky and leathery undertones. It's sweet but not sickly. The smell reminds me of what Mexican mole tastes like.

A peach-bomb, though without being sticky-sweet. Jasmine quite present. A hint of leather & musk in the background, just enough to make it so you wouldn’t want to pour it over ice cream.

This smells like the bitter green of daisies with a pile of hot overripe rotting fruit. I appreciate the concept and wanted to find it wearable but it is too challenging for me in the end. Test first.
