Mood Indigo

A quiet, lovely scent. Not a banger but a well-balanced expression of cedarwood and incense, with red pepper off the top. And not a synthetic, in-your-face cedarwood but a pleasant background to a layer of frankincense. Since I first put it on I've been captivated and while it can be worn year round, it really suits fall days and warmer winter weather. I would recommend even more heartily and entirely without reservation were it not that -- on me, at least -- it does have great longevity or sillage. But while I can smell, it puts on a smile on my face.

An underrated gem. The best cedarwood perfume I have ever smelled. It's not the cheaper cedarwood that reeks of pencil shavings, this is a very high quality white cedarwood that echoes throught the whole duration of wearing. All of the raw materials in this creation are perfectly blended and balanced. Mark Buxton has an exceptional nose that can decipher thousands of notes and he is a master of fine creations. I encourage everyone to try this. Also, La Haine/ Blow Up/ The Virgins and Love Exposure from this series.

I like it a lot! I would have guessed there was cumin in this, as it has a spiciness that reminds me of Le Desert Du Morrocain by Tauer. The incense and Musk are very noticeable for me. The geranium, chamomile and water lily blend together in a kind of amorphous way. The spiciness is obviously the red pepper. It does remind me very much of a cross between Le Desert Du Morrocain and Eau de Gloire by Perfumes de Empire (?). Well done..

When I die, bury me in Mood Indigo. It is the perfect mix of sacral incense and subtle smokiness, blended together with the chamomile and musk that makes me feel as though I'm transported to a medieval church, admiring the burning incense from afar. I am a huge sucker for incense/olibanum/myrrh and Mark Bruxton hit the mark on this one. One of my all time favorite fragrances.

Obvious catholic church vibes (incense), spicy, lingering, silage close to skin, love and will get a big size soon. My favourite incense along with room 1015 Purple Mantra. Both are lingering in a transparent, not overwhelming way. Love.

The more I wear it, the more I love it .

This is an amber bomb to my nose, very woody and incens-y, but I feel like the amber dominates a lot initially. It is mysterious in a way, and oh how dark. So dark it almost smells like fresh ink written with a long black feather pen. The wood is clean in combination with the musk, but the florals and bell pepper gives a kick to it all and makes the mystery more exiting. Though, it is with a heavy heart I come to realize that I don’t really like smelling this on myself. The incense is very dominant and it feels a bit too “grown up” on my skin. It reminds me a bit of ‘Passage d’Enfer’ by L’Artisan Parfumeur, but where ‘Passage d’Enfer’ is dry and brittle ‘Mood Indigo’ tries to look alive and be more spontaneous and fun. In the drydown it gets more heavy on the wood and amber, and the spicy and funny kick is as good as gone. I would say that this fragrance is bang on unisex even though I thought it would be slightly masculine leaning.

Mood Indigo opens with a bold, peppery burst that can feel surprisingly intense, but patience is richly rewarded. As it settles, the incense and woods surface and take over, creating a beautifully smooth, deeply addictive drydown that I can't stop smelling. It has an incredibly calming quality on my skin and always leaves me feeling relaxed. To me, this isn't a church-like incense fragrance at all, it's woody, comforting, and quietly meditative, with a drydown I happily enjoy for the next four or five hours.

I liked this a lot after I sprayed it on my skin a couple times, but after I bought a full bottle I realized there’s something about it that makes it kind of meh for me. I think it’s the geranium or water lily. This is very close to Avignon by Commes des Garcons but I prefer Avignon much more because it’s drier and less powdery (for lack of a better word). Unfortunately Avignon’s performance is terrible, and Mood Indigo performs pretty well for the price point. Still on the fence.

Liked this immediately. Does kind of smell like Indigo I think. Light and airy incense softened by the chamomile maybe? Almost a subtle inky smell up close. I'm going to test more. Not expecting powerhouse performance but might wear a little light for me. Very interesting house.

Like it, want it! Reach wooden base and strong sweet-spicy chili pepper and musky notes with a touch of freshness of chamomile. Very attractive and sexual. It gives me a vibe of an orthodox church but somewhere in Spain.

I'm probably the wrong person to review this, because woody-spicy fragrances are not my favourite, although I'm a fan of Mark Buxton, and Moth & Rabbit. For me, the sandalwood and the red pepper comes through, the chamomille plays a secondary, or even tertiary role. Perhaps it's the chamomille and the incense which in the end gives this a very pleasant softness. A gentle, well-rounded and sophisticated woody-spicy fragrance. It definitely has similarities to Ex voto (also by Buxton), because of the incense. It's a like, but really nothing extraordinary for me.

Masculine and elegant incense. It is dark, peppery, woody with sandalwood, cedar and patchouli, with a bit of sweet chamomile, musk and an amber base. It has a duty free attitude, but at the same time it is pleasant. It reminded me of Andree Putman's L'original in a full, mature, evening version, with a Tom Ford suit.

This is a nice one... it feels a bit like the lighter companion piece to M&R's "Duke of Burgundy" - this time with brighter, sweeter florals. Where they're more integrated with the wood notes in DOB, here they're further up front, giving the whole thing a brighter feel - a bit at odds with its name, which evokes a dark, smoky jazz club. The incense lingers around awhile, longer than the wood notes. It's nice, pleasant, and very much in creator Mark Buxton's wheelhouse, though nothing you haven't smelled before. If you still like but are maybe tiring on one of his previous floral/woody creations, it may be something to get as a change of pace, just to mix things up a bit.
