A*Men Pure Wood

Launched in 2014 as a limited edition of the renowned A*Men line, Pure Wood is Mugler's interpretation of raw nature translated into perfume. A meeting of woody strength and the oriental gourmand DNA that made the line an icon. The result is a fragrance that combines virility, warmth and sophistication with a striking signature. Olfactory Pyramid Main notes: Oak, Coffee, Vanilla, Patchouli, Cypress Despite its relatively straightforward structure, the olfactory experience is rich in nuances. Oak and cypress bring a resinous, moist and earthy opening, which immediately connects with the idea of a living forest. This woody introduction is dense, naturalistic, but never raw, always wrapped in the polished and modern finish characteristic of the A*Men line. Shortly afterwards, coffee enters the scene, bringing depth and warmth. Here, it is drier and more roasted, less creamy than in versions such as Pure Coffee or Pure Tonka, balancing perfectly with the sweetness of vanilla and the earthy side of patchouli. The construction has a slightly smoky and milky touch, which brings a rustic, almost nostalgic charm. Performance Long-lasting: Excellent, lasting between 8 to 10 hours, especially in mild to cold weather. Projection: Moderate in the first 2 hours; then it becomes closer to the skin, but noticeable. Sillage (trail): Medium – leaves an elegant trail, never invasive. Use Occasions Pure Wood is perfect for fall and winter, both day and night. Although it has an elegant side that makes it suitable for more refined events, it also fits very well in sophisticated casual situations, such as dates or night outs indoors. Its sensual character, with an earthy and woody touch, conveys maturity, confidence and introspection, a perfume with personality for those who prefer a discreet yet present fragrance. Bottle and Presentation The bottle follows the classic design of the A*Men line, but here it has a texture that simulates polished wood, with a matte finish and a translucent amber star in the center. It is an exact aesthetic representation of what the perfume offers: the fusion between rustic and sophisticated. Final Score: 9.3/10 A*Men Pure Wood is one of the most underrated versions of the line. It avoids the excessive sweetness that some editions of the line carry, bringing a more mature, contemplative and natural approach. The use of woods, especially oak and cypress, is well constructed and gives a feeling of authenticity and silent strength. Sweetness is present, yes, but much more as a supporting actor than as the protagonist.

Ok, so, this one it's finally available in my area. I was very excited to try this, this is the fragrance that i was the most excited to try this year, because i'm a big fan of the A*Men line. Now, first things first. Scentwise, this is an amazing fragrance. Woods, caramel and vanilla. These are the main accords. The wood note it's very high quality, i have to tell you that. Smells very natural. Of course, the original A*Men DNA it's present, but this is one is not so loud as all the flankers. I don't think this will be a polarazing fragrance, it's easy to like. I mean, what's not to like? Woods, vanilla, caramel? It's a mind-blowing combination and the result is phenomenal. So overall, scentwise, i love it a lot. I think this is the most elegant A*Men flanker. Now,let's get to the downside. This is the most soft A*Men flanker. I don't understand why people voted the sillage enormous and very long lasting. Tried this one both on my wrist with 1 spray and on paper with 2 sprays. The scents fades away very very quick. After 1 hour projection drops dramatically, and becomes a "skin scent" . This is the biggest disappointment. I didn't expect this from an A*Men flanker. Such shame that such an incredible creation, and a name so famous for making loud and monster-sillage fragrances, to have the sillage of a bath soap. I'm very disappointed, especially because i actually love the scent a lot. Not sure if i would add this to my collection of A*Men flankers in the near future because, as some of you may know, i usually enjoy loud fragrances, with heavy sillage. But, that's just me. If low projection it's not in issue for some of you, i guarantee you gonna love this. Also, if you plan to blind-buy, this is really a safe one, it's easy to love. Now, the bottle, also a disappointment. In the official pictures, the bottle looked so awesome, interesting design like a piece of wood. But, it's just photoshoped. In reality it's just a cheap plastic yellow/brown-ish bottle. If you try a google search, you will find some real pictures of the bottle. Now, let's get this one some ratings! Scentwise, i give it a full 10, hands down, an amazing creation. Sillage - 5, Longevity - 7 (although sillage it's soft, it lasts quite a while), Bottle Design - 4 (the most crappy bottle from the line). So, final rating: 6.5/10 . This fragrance, with an above-moderate projection, it would be a masterpiece. Too bad...

You know, every time I visited my local Mugler rep to sample some of their latest fragrances, she would always politely intimate that Pure Wood was her favourite. Of course, you know how it is, reps are always pushing their newest products, but somehow I felt that this was different. In fact, it was clear that she was instructed to push Pure Tonka, but was torn between being assertive and being honest. So anyway, I sprayed the card and what did I get? Well, my initial reaction was "GEEEEEZ-USSS!" this is wayyyy different than A*Men. It was literally like having tree bark callously shoved up my nose. The strength and resemblance was truly remarkable. I didn't know how to feel. Impressed? Certainly not disappointed... Five minutes later, the smell reminded me so strongly of something I smelled before, but couldn't quite put my olfactory finger on...and then it hit me! BEESWAX CANDLES! See, I've been a meditator for as long as I can remember, so the smell was very familiar and comforting. Nevertheless, I wasn't sufficiently impressed, so I gratiously took the small sample the rep gave me and headed home. It wasn't until I sprayed myself a couple days ago, did I really understand what I was missing. WaWaWeeWa. Sure enough, on the skin, that wood smell blended beautifully with the pine and vanilla, to create a light tree-sap, vanilla, honey scent. It reminded me of being at a cottage. Very nice. I like. You see, my signature scent has always been MB's Starwalker and I love anything that reminds me of the forest - Swiss Army original, Burberry London, Insurrection Pure 2, CDNI. But this one really took me by surprise. In fact, I think I like this MORE than A*Men AND Ultra Zest. I know, call me crazy. But yeah, the projection totally sucks. I get that. And so what? That just makes it less cloying in hot weather, right? And finally, I recommend you DON'T blind buy this one because it may be a little polarizing. Give it a sniff on the skin first, and see how you feel about it. Smell - 10/10 - at least, to yours truly Longevity - 8/10 Projection - 3/10 - mostly discreet Overall - 8/10 - Christmas to the outdoorsman

While not really a review I just wanted to say a few things based on the 'promo wipe' that I received in the mail... This has a very dry Oaky opening to it... Like the finish one an alcoholic beverage that has been long aged in oak barrels but this is not alcoholic at all if that makes any sense... Very Oaky and a little smoky... The Chene by Serge Lutens type of Oak... Oh it's wonderful BUT (at least in the 'promo wipe' they sent out...) it is pretty short lived... The Oak drops back after the first 20-30ish minutes for the Cypress to take over and after an hour then we get into a beautiful yet simple 'baked goods' type of gourmand... The wood is still around but it's like you are baking outside in a wood burning stove... Light smoky woods and baked goods... Yes please... This fragrance screams Autumn to me and I am now REALLY looking forward to ordering a bottle... Once I add this to my collection and give it a few wearings (on days off around the house in the Summer... ^_^) I'll report back... From the 'promo wipe' this is going to be a winner BUT if the Oak stays around a little longer and stronger from the bottle this is going to be at the top of the list from this house for me... Say tuned fragrance lovers... ^_^ --- UPDATE: Yeah this smells even better from the bottle... More oak and wood though out the whole life of the fragrance and while sandalwood is not listed in the note breakdown it seems like there is a hint of creamy sandalwood and perhaps guaiac wood as well... I do NOT get much of a cypress feel from this at all from out of the bottle... That is not a bad thing either IMO... I also get more coffee in the heart now so it's like baking outside with wood with your morning coffee... Hell yeah man... This is awesome stuff and I can not wait for Autumn to arrive to wear this bad boy out and about... Awesome job TM... This is a WINNER!!! 9/10

I am relatively new to the world of fragrances, and in fact, this is my first review. A*Men Pure Wood was my first full bottle purchase, and currently my most frequently worn casual scent (office, home, etc.) I purchased it at Nordstrom after trying just about everything on the shelf over a couple weeks. I always look forward to the big sharp blast of conifers at the opening, cypress I guess. It's short lived, usually gone by the time I get to work. Through most of the day I catch occasional whiffs of a nice sweet vanilla smell tempered by a bit of dry woods lingering in the background. It's definitely a sweet fragrance, but not cloying (I think thanks to the dryness of the woods throughout the drydown). By the end of the day it becomes a really lovely mellow sweetness, like burnt sugar and the inside of a hardwood dresser (I assume this is "oak"). After the top notes subside, this scent does not project very far for me (which is fine, I typically wear this in settings where I don't want much projection). I do notice the scent does tend to wake up quite a bit when my skin gets warmer than usual. Longevity is great, I can usually still detect it after a full 8 hours at work and it lasts even longer my clothes. I can usually detect a hint of it days later when I'm doing laundry. I wasn't a huge fan of A*Men (too loud, too sweet, just too much), but Pure Wood retains enough of what I did like about that scent and balances it with a variety of pleasant dry woods as the scent unfolds. I think this is a pretty safe fragrance to wear in most settings. Probably better suited for the cold months, but I've worn it in summer and didn't find it bothersome. Great purchase, I would happily buy another bottle when it runs out. It's an amazing fragrance if not a particularly daring one.

Okay I'm pretty impressed with this scent after an unsure first impression. I can tell you straight away that it's not as loud as A*Men or many of the other flankers and has a toned down feel, no over sweetness or caramel. This refined approach is what makes me like the Pure Malt/Coffee/Havane/Wood range more than the original, which is so complex frankly it needs reigning in a little. It's these differences which set them apart but retain the common theme brilliantly. What I mean is that in my minds eye (or nose more accurately) I smell a new A*Men flanker and think hmmmm...that's the signature A*Men accord I enjoy without fully appreciating the differences. It's only when you try them against each other do you realise just how different they are and pure wood came to life against the others. I didn't find this particularly woody at first, which is strange because it's usually the top notes which are distinct in these flankers, before settling to something more familiar. This starts out quite boozy and Pure Malt like then the wood starts to emerge and it's almost a peppery, dry edge to it. This almost reminds me very slightly of if Comme des Garcon did an interpretation of A*Men. Don't get me wrong though this is not a woody scent in the usual sense of the word it's very much a gourmand oriental, an authentic A*Men experience but with non of the cloying thickness. It seems to somehow have added some savory touches to that indulgent dessert that is the A*Men accord. Sanding down any sharp edges to use a woodworking analogy, its softer and smells positively woody compared with say Pure Coffee for example? I like it, it's also not as intrusive as Pure Malt or Pure Havane and dries down quickly, not projecting as much...but that's totally fine for me.

hello back after like 12 hours or so! well, well, well, what a scent.. as i said before, needs not saying again.. after spraying it on my hand, after an hour i decided to put some on before a flight, first of all, i really though i'd over done it with like, 6! sprays.. i could smell it im sure ever person in 400 miles could smell it, BUT.. even if they did.. no coughs, no wtf's. i laid it on thick, but it is so Mellow! it's just kind of perfect for a little trigger happy spraying! that said, i personally wont go overboard as this frag deserves to be subtle.. after the 60 minute mark, the oak/wood/wardrobe note fades away into a creamy, and i mean creamy coffee and vanilla scent.. -right now it is amazing!- as it dies down the actual smell doesn't deteriorate it just -like many others- becomes a skin scent, that said, it no way a bad thing! sustainability - i would put it up there will probably pure malt creation/the (reformulation) A-men - lasts a long time, but no where as monster silage as the original A*men badboy. also let me add this frag really does have the DNA of A*men (don't they all?) imagine pure malt with a wood/oak mellow note - imagine pure havan with a much sharper note (if that makes sense?!) all in all, i blind bought it and (being a TM fan) i loved it.. TM is just the gift that keeps on giving. a solid solid solid 9/10 - just get it, if your in to mugler you wil not be dissapointed, i wasnt, although i thought i wood be! ;)

I will echo a previous reviewer: this does strongly remind me of Tauer 02 L'Air du Desert Marocain. I get a similar sweet ambered wood tone. I will also emphasize another sentiment that has popped up a few times before: A*Men Pure Wood is totally unisex, much like LDDM. Pure Wood opens up with gently smokey cut wood, still with sticky sweet sap dripping out. It reminds me a touch of Olympic Orchids Woodcut, for obvious reasons. As it dries down, the wood becomes milder but never fully fades. A soft vanilla, neither dry like Shalimar nor gooey like Alien Essence Absolue, complements the sappy tones of the wood. I can also smell little touches of earthy patchouli and musky resin. I never do smell A*Men's coffee or heavy tarry patch, which is just fine with me as it keeps Pure Wood from becoming too masculine. I need to comment on the bottle. I love it but it is also kind of tacky. I do like the smooth but textured feeling of it, but it does remind me of laminate "wood" flooring. Overall, I am very impressed with Pure Wood and regret discounting A*Mens as generic. manly perfumes. They are more like niche perfumes- wearable by anyone and more of a scent experience than simply perfume. Although, as the house that created the very unique, unisex Angel, I should not be surprised about this quality. I look forward to adding more A*Men to my collection.

I finally got this one. The bottle looks as horrible as described by many people on the net. Maybe if it had been done in a darker 2-tone colour... Anyway. This is something that I really should have tried first. But, impulsive me jumped right in. There is nothing really wrong with Pure Wood. There is also nothing in there that I really needed. I get the cypress and the oak notes. There is also a caramel note, not too sweet, more like a salted caramel. I can also detect a slight nuttiness to it. I was really hoping for a much dryer scent with more wood- it IS called Pure Wood after all. It's not a bad scent. This is the office friendly A*Men flanker: not too loud, not too noticeable, hardly there. I will certainly wear it to work- my Amouages are too loud for work- but, in my book, office friendly is not a compliment. 3 weeks later: This is really growing on me. There really is a quiet elegance to Pure Wood. It is really difficult to try and to judge a fragrance after waiting for it for weeks and/or months, because in your mind you start expecting this or that. Especially when it is a Mugler flanker. But based on it's own merits, Pure Wood is quite a solid fragrance. Certainly the most sophisticated A*men flanker to date. It probably should have been a new Mugler pillar release.

This is really nice. Wood/Vanilla scent that has a gourmand quality to it. Pretty long lasting, but projection is less. At the opening, I get primarily vanilla and some alcohol (Which disappears pretty quick). After it settles for a couple minutes, I start to pick up the wood more. At times, it feels like the wood is primary and at other times, it feels like the vanilla is more prominent. This makes the fragrance a bit dynamic, which I like. Sometimes I really pick up that sawdust-like realistic wood in the air around me. But it’s not just straight wood all the time. The vanilla and other notes really balance it out and make it more appealing. So if you’re looking for realistic wood, yes it is in here and the wood note is really well done. Sawdust, Home Depot, the smell of oak furniture, fresh cut wood on a chilly day. But it’s not the only thing in here. They’ve taken that realistic wood and made it into a designer fragrance and I mean that in a good way. It was less of an "In your face" wood than I was expecting. This is excellent for the Fall and Winter. I’d say max temperature to wear this is about 70F or 21C. But better when it’s colder. Be aware this may stain clothes. So sad they’ve discontinued this and the other A*Men flankers.

Having explored all of the Amen flankers this is the one I would have to choose. Not because it smells the best but just for its overall qualities. This has the most realistic wood/oak note I've smelled so far. This is what it would smell like at a lumber mill site cutting down oak trees. I've been around this type of smell my whole life living in the Appalachian mountains and regularly cutting firewood and building wood frame homes/cabins so it would make scence that this would be a scent for me. Very dry dusty oak wood note that dominates through out the life of the frag. Vanilla comes into play short after initial spray making it feel creamy. Little but noticeable coffee notes in background make it a little less linear. Overall a great outdoors year round scent. Very natural smelling. I also own pure malt and wear it often but for some reason I always reach for pure wood over malt. I think PM has a more intriguing scent but it can be overly sweet and bothersome after a couple hours wear at a heavy dose, this one is closest to pure coffee out of the flankers. Take out the wood/oak note in PW and replace it with coffee and you got PC. 9/10 !

This review if for you blind buyers. I give you my approval to pull the trigger, as a matter of fact it's $45 shipped on fragrancnet and eBay which is great because I would gladly pay $90 for this. I'll even go further, I have many many niche fragrances ranging from $30-$300 and this fragrance smells just as good (in this genre of fragrances) . Now, I don't care for ANY of Muglers Amen fragrances or flankers. This one is the only one I have, pure coffee isn't too bad and amen and pure malt are sweet synthetic messes IMO. I like fresh masculine clean wood scents. I find them hard to find even though there's hundreds of them. Le labo santal 33 is great but really I haven't found a good one since this one. They all have lavender or are too sweet. Pure wood is the perfect balance of fresh cut wood with a sweetness to it but not too sweet or cloying. It's just great and I highly reccomend it. It lasts a really long time and projects good too. You can psychoanalyse the notes like I did or just go get it or sample it and realize how much a waste of time that is bc it smells so great and different than you would think.

Opens with burst of woods patchouli and coffee with green cypress, there is also some boozy sweet vanilla notes in the opening that reminds me pure malt, very elegant and kinda delicious. In the middle it radiates coffee woods and vanilla, its like sitting next to barista on a wooden deck with a Cypress tree behind - gourmand and realistic. For my nose the coffee note in this scent is very present, when i was walking next coffee shop in the mall i was surprised how the smell reminded me of this fragrance. My problem with this perfume starts in the dry down. On my skin it has decent longevity and after 5-6 hours i can still detect a whiff of myself and the scent reminds me a herbal liqueur Maria Treban / Jagermeister / Campary type with a bit of cola. When i put my nose on the skin the dry down is nice coffee vanilla woods, but the whiff in the air.. I don't dislike it but the association with the herbal liqueur kinda irritates me. And more i wear it the more the dry down confuses me because i love a lot in this frag.

I will admit that I am a bit biased as I do like MOST, but NOT all, of the A*Men line. Having said that, I have to also admit that this is another great flanker in the Mugler A*Men line. The opening in this scent has a dry, dusty and woody vibe. I have talked about how some fragrances will bring back memories of earlier days. On the initial spray of this one, I am a six year old boy walking into my parent's attic. It is warm, dark and dry. Very little light comes though the vent. Dust covers the floor as I slowly may my way across the old wooden floor. The smell from that attic is what I get out of the opening of Pure Wood. After a couple of hours the vanilla emerges and PW becomes a little sweeter, leaving the dusty, dry attic behind. Shortly after the vanilla peaks out, coffee and patchouli join the party and all three dance until the early hours of the morning on my skin. Bottom line: If you like the A*Men line or you like woody scents, you should try this one.

This is more of a mass pleaser than the other Muglers, except for maybe the new version of Pure Coffee, which has been reformulated to be more user friendly to the average guy. Pure Wood is a lot more easily worn than say Pure Havane or Pure Chili. It's just a warm, cozy, sweet patchouli wood scent...exactly like you would expect from the Mugler Pure line. And you WILL be able to pick out the dry oak note easily from the get go. It lasts ALL day...It doesn't really project very far for long, but it does leave a decent trail while you're walking. Projection is a foot at most while standing still, then closes in on the skin after probably 30 minutes. But for this particular nature of a scent, it acts exactly as it should. Nobody wants patchouli and bitter cocoa slamming em in the face all day while you are 6 feet away. So I say it's a cologne done right.

I am a woman and just like with my review for Pure Havane, I think a woman can totally pull this off. Where Pure Havane was Angel plus tobacco. This is more like a masculine Womanity. The cypress, oak and patchouli are reminecint of the green fig notes in Womanity to me (never really smelled figgy on me, more piney). Almost Christmasy, yet I could wear this in summer. It has an outdoorsy, nearly campfire vibe and I like that. Not picking up a lot of vanilla or coffee specifically, but as it dries down and the blast of piney freshness mellows, the A*men richness is coming through. I imagine the vanilla and coffee notes will be more prevelant as the fragrance develops. Will update if I find this to be true. Edit: Stash by SJP.. That's what this reminds me of... Not as strong actually.. Less brash and classier.

Pure Wood is the oft forgotten gem (along with A Taste of Fragrance) in the A*Men flanker line. The opening notes don't so much remind me of wood, but rather a soft coconut mixed with vanilla. That balance manages to stay rather masculine throughout the entire wearing. Projection is fairly decent, like others in the A*Men line, giving you a scent cloud with at least a 6 or 7 foot radius through the first two hours. The drydown is why you should buy this. Pure Wood gives you a surprisingly creamy vanilla drydown, a pleasant surprise coming from a woody fragrance. This fragrance shines, especially at work, during any season where the weather is cool or mild. It feels masculine, unique, and tastefully sexy. Try this one out if you've only gravitated towards Pure Malt or Ultra Zest until now. Its a gem.

I bought this fragrance awhile back and I'm using it now in deep winter months. I sprayed this juice on my skin and it reminds me being in a Catholic church with the aroma of incense. Wood has a definite burning aroma of oak and fir aroma with a pronounced vanilla base note giving it a warn tone instead of this fragrance becoming harsh. Patucchli also adds a very slightly sweet note without throwing off the delicate balance of woodsy/burning aroma. Longevity and Silage is excellent lasting at least 6hrs 8hrs. My thoughts, I find this fragrance not like A-Men being overwhelming sweet. Wood is very similar to Tom Ford's Sahara which is EXQUISITE!! Wood has that unique aroma which is very smokey with a hint of sweetness...8/0

Pure Wood contains perhaps the most realistic wood note I’ve smelled in a perfume. It sits comfortably atop the ” Muglerade” accord of vanilla/coffee/patchouli, creating a beautiful masculine gourmand. It is softly enveloping rather than overpowering as most non-oud, wood-centered scents tend to be. It stays fairly linear with the woody top notes finally yielding to patchouli, which emerges and gains prominence in the later stages. I applaud this release from Mugler, as it seems to be a more photorealistic, grown up flanker, departing a bit from the fantastic, “graphic novel” interpretations (which I also love) of many of the others in the A*Men lineup. Well done, giving another angle to the A*Men collection.

A men pure wood is a deep, dark and complex scent. Beautiful, fearless, and shameless. Rich in coffee accords and heavy woods, pure wood overflows with masculinity and sexy confidence. If pure malt was playful sexy, pure wood is dead serious sexy. Kind of like what a 007 spy would wear. I am trying to describe this scent but every time I do, I erase it as I feel it to be meaningless and silly compared to the scent itself. I'll just say, try it! Don't be afraid of different stuff. Sure pure wood is not your typical sweet perfume but, if you are intelligent, confident and mature, you will appreciate this masterpiece from Thierry Mugler! 9/10.

For me, getting a new A☆men flanker and getting to experience what Thierry mugler created so unique is a very cheerful accomplishment for me every time. Getting a new bottle of any of these makes me excited like being young in Christmas morning and eager to open your presents. Scent is very woody, vanilla, and deep. Smells like a home depot, not as insult lol, but in the best way possible. Brings me back those memories as a kid inside one often. Drydown is very nice. Projection is ok. This one was hard to find for me . Hopefully gets rereleased somehow in the future, alongside other a☆men 👍👍 9/10

I'm a big fan of almost all Mugler masculine releases (well maybe except original A*Men with whom I still have a relation of a distant respect) and coffee is my most favorite note in a scent - consequently I'm more than eager to try this new flanker, especially because I haven't got the chance to try/own Pure Coffee yet. I'm expecting a more mature coffee interpretation, with those woody notes added to composition. p.s. I'm amazed, as always, by the premature votes about composing notes, longevity or sillage, BEFORE the scent is released...

@marekkalinowski superb! i had to blind buy it and im sat in the airport with one spray on the back of the hand and first of all, it has that A*men DNA but only slight! the rest from the first sniff is WOOD. its almost like climbing in a newly build ikea wardrobe, but not in a bad way at all. its still in it's wood phase as i've only just put some on. as far as blind buys go im on a roll, 2nd blind buy in 2 days and both crackers! will update in a few days once i test this beast out, but i'm excited about it already! so far 8/10

Hey guys, I had to ask this here and feel free to answer by PM me. This fragrance is coming out in June right? Do you think that TM is going to repeat what he did back in 2011? He lauched Pure Havane in March/April and then he released the collection "Taste of Fragrance" in October/November could we see two released again this year? About the fragrance, this is a must try for me. Could imagine this one being a mix between the original A*Men or Pure Coffee and either Armand Basi Wild Forest :)

A*Men Pure Wood has a deep, dark and complex scent. It is both beautiful and fearless. A few coffee, tonka and vanilla beans have been added to the hard oak wood with a few sprigs of cypress stiffness. This way, the woody scent whirls overflow with masculinity, some sweetness and a lot of confidence. If Pure Malt is playful and sexy, Pure Wood is more serious and also more sensual. A bit like the perfume the Daniel Craig 007 character would wear both in action or love scenes :-)

Well there had been speculation for a while about this one and finally here it is. Interesting though because one thing A*Men and it's flankers have never been is woody, so the addition of woody notes is welcome & needed. I can't say I'm not excited to try it but I think we need to manage our expectations here people. Lets not get too carried away imagining it will be some holy grail, that only leads to disappointment. Bottle looks awesome though! Roll on 7th of July!

Un parfum très bon sincèrement, surtout en période de pluie Avec ces notes fortes de bois en premier lieu comme l'indique son nom Pure Wood, c'est vraiment du pure... Des notes de vanille viennent ensuite adoucir l'odeur, et le café et patchouli viennent renforcer à la fois Bref, c'est un parfum ne pas rater si vous le trouver, et à en mettre un peu plus que la norme si vous voulez le trouver très bon ( je vous le conseille vivement )

Pure Wood has the tone liqueur from your brother Pure Malt but way lighter and a little less fruity. The caramel note, from AMen, is noticeable despite not being listed. But wood is the detail! "Soft", "round" Oak, which reminds me a bit of wood cashmir. I think it might be the new success of the house TM. Just found the bottle of questionables style and quality, very different from the publicity pictures. I liked very much!

Pure Wood is starting with strong cypress ,reminds me of Azzaro Visit for the first minute. Mid notes is when you get more sweetness and Oak starting to shine ,cypress is still there but not the main player anymore. Drydown is woody/patchouli/little sweet. I feel resins that are not mentioned anywhere in the notes. Not sure why some people are comparing it to Mercedes Benz Club Extreme - it doesn`t remind me of it.

Heavy on coffee vanilla wood and patchouli this is one of the more original and unique flankers. It really shows the full realization of an artistic idea that pushes the a*men line further to the avangard and niche. I wish it had more dirt like tar note but the patchouli with coffee here does give that shade of dirt. Its daring like the original.

One of the best Thierry Mugler line , has that tom ford lasting and performance vibe , fits all seasons very well and has one of the best woody ever lasting smells. First 2 hours goes weak but fhere after goes strong and after 5 hours later if feels like you just sprayed it again. Don't be fooled by negative comments.i give it 9.5/10

Personally, I much prefer Pure Wood over, Havane and Malt anyday. I love the wood note here, no matter how synthetic it may smell. I like Havane second, though the initial spray is like getting slapped in the chops with a wet tobacco leaf. Malt is a distant third as I am not at all into the boozy initial blast...

My favourite A*Men flanker, a gorgeous oak note blended with the A'men patchouli and dipped in a thick, syrupy vanilla. I also get a chocolatey note that is not listed (though patchouli is known to have a chocolatey facet sometimes). Intoxicating stuff. And thankfully I get much better performance than most here.

This a tone down A-men with a superimposed woody accord. More wearable for one who likes woody and the A-men scent but finds the latter too forward. For me, I will gladly put on a spritz of A-men and layer atop it with By Kilian's Sacred Wood for a higher quality equivalent of Pure Wood!

I really don't understand the bad reviews concerning this one, and I mean REALLY. This is my fav Thierry Mugler and I will keep loving it despite all the haters, its just so perfect. And sillage and longevity are awsum. (:

The DNA of A Men with a woody touch. A sweet perfume and something vanilla. Moderate medium projection and long longevity. Not bad, but it's not a 100% woody perfume like Wonderwood, Encre Noire and others. Not bad (8/10)

What a dreamy perfume! Coffee, wood, vanilla and a hint of chocolate (although not mentioned)! This is magnificent! Delicious and elegant at the same time! And i simply couldn't care less if it says "men" on the box!!

Pure Wood is a linear softer woody scent. The cypress note is undetectable. Try layering this with Byblos In Black (or Terre D'Hermes) to add the needed resin profile... then it has more real woody depth!

Stale Topps baseball card bubblegum meets pinewood derby race cars. I never met a woman who liked the scent, but there isn't a fragrance in the world that makes *me* happier. I just love this stuff!

It was long since i didnt reviewed but today i got my bottle of this and my first impression is ̈"wow this just like Gucci Pour Homme", that powerfull scent made when Tom Ford was there"

I’m not exactly sure WHY they would discontinue this amazing juice! I absolutely love it! I hate when companies discontinue such amazing works of art. Bring it back TM!

I've been a big fan through the years of TM, after trying this .. I will ALWAYS blind buy anything they produce.. it's an amazing woody sweet fragrance .. AMAZING !

Very unique. Smooth sweet vanilla woody with little coffee in the background. I hate the bottle btw.

For me the most acceptable from Thierry Mugler.

In the top 5 TM A*Men flankers.

As others have stated, the Mugler A*Men DNA is present, and toned down a bit more than even Pure Malt. Underneath that Mugler DNA is a strong, dusty, woody scent, sure to be pleasing to the masses. For me, the scent is somewhere between Mugler Pure Malt and Juicy Couture Dirty English. The woody notes smell damp, yet it still reminds me of a dusty, humid attic like dirty English does. With that being said, the overall scent reminds me of the smell of Oud in the same way that Versace Blue Jeans reminds me of the smell of Cola. No, it doesn't smell LIKE Oud, it smells like a scent reminiscent of Oud, comprised of more pleasing scents. Longevity is pretty good, at about 8 hours. Projection is pretty much perfect for daily wear. My girlfriend really likes this one, and I think most others would too. It's a crowd pleaser, but for some reason it doesn't quite "wow" me. I'm going to give this one a few more wearings before I truly decide, but it's definitely a great scent, and a good option for a toned-down dose of the Mugler DNA, with an added kick of damp and dusty woods. I'm not sure yet which I prefer between this and Pure Malt, but I think Pure Wood is probably a bit more versatile. I just wish they had gone a different direction with this one... utilizing the Sequoia note from Pure Energy and playing it up with cedar and possibly some other woody notes like mahogany and birch, the idea of a truly "Pure Wood" scent could be something so spectacular. But instead, they stayed true to the A*Men roots with this one...
