A*Men Stellar

The ratings for this fragrance are SO FAR OFF from actuality that it isn't even close to the true life performance of the fragrance. I consistently get 12+ hour longevity off of my skin and on clothes throughout 2 days, because I sprayed my jacket and I had to wear it again today because it's raining and I could still clearly pick it up as soon as I opened my closet. The projection is also unbelievably good!!! It truly sits firmly in the top tier for longevity and sillage. I must admit I get a little upset when people are purposely dishonest about the ratings just because they don't feel like the fragrance is innovative enough or niche enough so they purposely put completely dishonest ratings and then nobody can get the true statistics of the fragrance. But I'm not against A*Men Stellar so I'm giving you completely unbiased information on it. The scent profile is definitely reminiscent of A*Men Fantasm, but also not redundant as I am glad to own both of them as they are modernized takes on the original A*Men's DNA. The performance is possibly even better than current versions of the original, but definitely not older ones. That stuff was very beastly! The pistachio note is very well done but I must admit that it's not as well executed as it is in Victor & Rolf's Spicebomb Night Vision EDP, which is the most mass appealing of the creamy but nutty designer or niche fragrances out there right now. Though this one does have superior performance and projection over the Spicebomb. It's highly complemented and women tend to enjoy it very much so on the whole, the performance should be rated as 12+ hours, the projection if not completely room filling is definitely past arms length, and a more accurate rating given those facts would be somewhere around the 4.25 mark. That's far above the ratings that we observe here and it's all due to people hating because it's not different enough, not as much like the older flankers, or honestly just too mass appealing for their preference. But that's what brands want, and if you truly enjoy the A*Men line of fragrances as much as I do then you will want them to make sales so we can continue to see more from the line and possibly even some that are more like the truly amazing Pure Tonka and Pure Malt, even Pure Havane! So it doesn't make sense to artificially alter the ratings like has been done all too often here on Fragrantica lately. Oh, one more thing. I have absolutely no idea why a coconut note is not listed in the fragrances base notes because it is so clearly evident that it's not even funny. And I enjoy it much more than the more highly rated Le Beau Le Parfum. Just wanted to make sure I mentioned that also.

Blind buying this was such a gamble and thank god it smells like heaven. Working with so many fragrances I have become sick of how similar many of the male ones smell, but knowing Mugler, I had high hopes. The first spray was like nothing I had ever smelled before, strong pistachio and bergamot that was very loud. Identically to the female version, the dry down was immaculate. Deep, boozy vanilla with creamy pistachio. While it shows mint and lavender as notes, they only really show for a short time before the base notes shine. I do not find the coffee to be too strong but it adds to the masculinity and warmth of the fragrance. While this is not a safe blind buy, it has become one of my go to fragrances. Sweet, seductive, masculine with feminine notes. Although it is weaker than its female counter part with its silage. Because I’m crazy I layer them both together so everyone knows who I am when I walk past.

Just got mine—Stellar is now available in Europe! My biggest concern was whether it would smell like A*Men. The answer is yes, with patchouli clearly present in the composition. Right after the first spray, you get a synthetic freshness—but in a good way. Within the first ten minutes, the pistachio note shines, beautifully recreated and dominant —very nutty. I wouldn’t say coffee is the main player as suggested; it’s there but don’t expect a roasted coffee aroma. Overall, I’d describe the scent as woody/waxy/nutty sweet(not modern sweetness)Starbucks Pistachio Latte. It’s very well made, and I expect it to receive positive reviews from the fragrance community! Excluding the fact that it "smells like A*Men", I would say that it`s unique ,it does not remind me of anything else. Spring/Fall/Winter but IMO it will be too strong for the summer.

What an awesome release. This instantly reminds of the original A* Men, but you can smell the added pistachio right away. It starts pretty bold and slightly bitter, which reminds of the original daring aroma. It then settles on a very creamy base made of tonka and pistachio, the musks in the base are very noticeable. Coffee isn't a main player on my skin during the drydown. It's very sweet and creamy. Imo this is very unisex, leans more masculine but just like the female version, it could be worn by anyone really.

This is one of my favourite Amen flanker, it is built on the same draft as Fantasm, but reduces a tad the coconutty feel by adding this wonderful dusty and nutty pistachio. It dries down to a smell of cappuccino with some cacao powder, finely chopped nuts and pistachio on top. Delicious, yet something in it keeps everything slightly airy and "fresh", maybe the mint/lavender combo. Longevity is superb ( on par with Pure Havane, Pure Malt ), and the projection is perfect on me.

As somebody who’s been wearing A*Men since the late 90s, I’m surprised at some of the comments below. Performance is sublime. Easily 10+ hours on my skin. It’s a patchouli, lavender and pistachio bomb. Beautifully blended. A modern take on the OG and probably the best A*Men release since Pure Tonka, and I’m including the reformulated original in that, which had been criminally watered down. Outstanding release. Doesn’t deserve the rating.

I ordered a free tester of Stellar and wore it to work...and after listening to people trying to identify what the lovely smell was, i decided to order myself a full bottle lol I understand fraghead fatigue, this does smell like a*men but it's more creamy, vanilla, coconut. Like a delicious summer dessert, served at an oceanside cafe. If I could go back and choose jpg le beau paradise garden or this I'd grab stellar and it's not close.

To my nose the Coffee note in this is very prominent. The mint is almost like a sweet gum mint that has a slight vanilla side to it which ends up making this fragrance a fresh pistachio vanilla latte sort of vibe. It definitely has elements of Fantasm but the original Amen DNA is noticeable which I’m thankful for. Definitely an unexpected one but it absolutely works

Just bought this fragrance. Honestly not a bad fragrance by Mugler. It have a warm, milky, cozy feeling. U can pull this out in winter, spring or fall. Mby on summer night but its rly great fragrance. Pistachio note is just so yummi . At the beggining is sinthetic but in dry down is just pure magical warm fragrance. If u have doubts. Buy this u wont regret.

Delicious, masculine leaning, lightly spicy and comforting gourmand. Expertly balanced between sweet, spicy and nutty. Initial punch of pistachio is yummy, there is however a slightly synthetic quality but the perfect balance makes up for it. I only wish it had more longevity considering it's at EDP.

Wonderful burst of pistachio right off the top that I wish lasted longer. Dries down to an edible vanilla latte (coffee/tonka) type scent. Surprisingly versatile. Perfect for every season except summer- but even then I still think you could wear it on a cool night. Best for fall

Great perfume, incredibly versatile. Masculine, but with an interesting twist (probably because of the combination of sweetness and bitter coffee notes). I can imagine wearing it both at the office and at a party.

Addictive nuttiness. Addictiveness to just smelling yourself is what the Amen and Angel lines needs to have cos thats what they always had pre L’Oreal.

This was a surprise for me, as I was absolutely horrified by the nuclear vanilla of Fantasm: how could someone use the same base and make one of the most interesting perfumes in recent memory? The opening is usually described as fresher than Fantasm, but I wouldn't describe this perfume as "fresh" at any stage of its developement: coffee and serious synthetic woods offer a brown backdrop against which confectionery vanilla and soapy, patchouli-doped lavender dance. To me, this initial blast seems like a modern recreation of the original A*Men: if you gave a 23 year-old perfumer, nose forged in the fires of ethyl-maltol heavy clubbers, the description of A*Men, they might very well come up with something like this, rubbery accord substituted for leathery wood and whatnot. That, of course, could be a complete trainwreck, but it's not, and the progressive toning down of coffee and wood gives way to a pistachio and coconut cream that lasts for hours on end (for days on clothing). Again, that accord might be horrid and cloying were it not for the sobering presence of styrax, and for the classicism imparted by the soapy lavender and greens. Tonka and musk are the usual ambery longevity fare, but this particular fragrance has the dignity of never devolving into just a sweet amber skeleton: hours after first application, the ghosts of the opening notes still set this appart from modern gourmand monoliths, among which there was a Fantasm that loomed heavily over the future of this line. Adventurous flanker of the past this is not, but it is a wearable and interesting gourmand with actual development and, for those who care, a compliment getter and a curious-nose magnet. Edit: The persistance of the fatty coconut-like notes in the drydown makes me lose my interest. Once all is said and done, this fragrance devolves into something far more generic than during developement. Repeated wears become tiresome, and I reserve this fragrance as an occasional sweet treat.

Not a review, but rather a first take on this... of which I bought a bottle, of course. I recently tried the latest Penhaligon's pistachio based fragrance, as I am a big fan of this note. Fortuitous Finley, is essentially an overpriced repackaging of Night Vision EdP... on the other hand Stellar is exactly what you'd expect from Mugler. It opens with a discernible pistachio note, which is nutty and creamy at the same time... and this is the most unisex part of the journey. You can smell the bergamot in the background, but it's rather subdued. After a couple of hours, the nuttiness fades and Stellar turns into something similar to the latest OG A*men iteration, which is not bad at all. Patchouli is not a listed note, but I can definitely smell that distinctive chocolatey scent throughout the late dry down. I've seen some people commenting/grading this as a weak performer... I got 6-8 hours of progressively fading projection. At least up to 12 hours, as a noticeable skin scent. I must still wear it a couple of times to evaluate the projection. Anyway, all the latest Mugler releases for men have been quite solid. The OG can be divisive, I don't like the opening but the dry down is delectable and masculine (and I don't usually like fragrances that are too "gender focused"). Fantasm is still a good performer, albeit a bit fainter than the OG. The scent is unisex and you may appreciate it if you like the "Oreo chocolate" vibe. Stellar is as good as the OG in my opinion. In fact, I would describe it as the OG with a pistachio overlay. Going back to what I initially said... Stellar is much better and more interesting than Fortuitous Finley. If you're interested in pistachio as a note, try Stellar (and Luscious, by French Avenue - which is more unisex/fem).

The opening is a really delicious nutty scent, and I don’t say that lightly because most nutty fragrances have let me down. Blindly I wouldn’t have guessed pistachio but rather a dark hazelnut because it is surrounded by dark notes like tonka and coffee. Along for the ride is a loud mint note. In other A*Men flankers I have smelled, the mint sort of adds a low/brooding camphorous background texture as it melds with the earthy patchouli. That isn’t the case here — this fragrance is a lot less bass heavy than other A*Mens and honestly I don’t smell any patchouli or chocolate here at all. Though it is still tasty and sweet, it might seem a little more punchy + vibrant and less deep + brooding than the original A*Men. Whether that is good or bad will depend on your own taste. The ultimate drydown of this fragrance is like a strange mixture of tonka bean, coconut, toothpaste, and almond. That is the final destination, and what you will get for 90% of the fragrance’s lifespan. Surprisingly, I think it works really well even if it leans a bit immature. The color it evokes for me is actually “white” but it isn’t exactly vanillic. In my opinion the coffee has completely vanished by this point (a few minutes after spraying on skin). Maybe a shadow of it still lingers. If you want an absurdly good and lasting coffee fragrance try Kerosene Follow or Akro Awake. If you just want an affordable, totally pleasant, modern fresh gourmand I think this is worth a sample. The blend harmonizes into something that makes sense to me. It smells like it was put together with real intention rather than just a mishmash of trendy edible notes. Still, it didn’t blow me away. 7.9/10

First wearing of A*Men Stellar, the latest Mugler men’s release, described with a simple note breakdown of lavadin (though I think they meant “lavandin”), pistachio, and woody accord. Its opening is bright, with a decent balance among the sweet, sharp, and woody aspects, and very little of the original A*Men DNA seems to be present, even if there is a vague sort of sweet/dark/patchouli aspect very far in the background. This feels more like a modern men’s signature scent, reasonably sweet and versatile, like a lighter, brighter, less sweet variant of A*Men Tonka, albeit not the sumptuous gourmand. Still, I like it and would wear it in the absence of alternatives. However, I enjoy the darker ensemble of most of the other A*Men flankers that I love—Malt, Havane, Coffee, Tonka, and, mostly recently, Fantasm, which itself is not too striking either, but the chocolate of which provides an interesting, pleasant alternative to the others that’s still interesting. Mugler very recently updated their pricing to $115 for 100ml (previously, when Fantasm was recently, it was $90 for 100ml), more or less consistent with other designer brands’ nowadays. Stellar performs well enough, albeit not as well as Fantasm on me. Overall, it’s an interesting creation but is not moving enough for me to want a bottle at this time. 7 out of 10

This is essentially Pure Tonka without licorice and a bit more sharper. Smells nice but is a bit bold to wear around people. It's a statement maker. The coffee, Tonka and Lavender combo here is unique and is a love or hate with people. I'm hoping the next release goes in the more boozy, chocolatey patchouli direction similar to pure Malt, pure Havane and kryptomint. They are the best of the A*men Line!

Angel man modernized ver. The opening is truly appreciateable then it settles deeeown aaand.. its just whatever the other designer brands are releasing recently... i think they wanted to make angel man more pleaseable by the crowd? Also it doesnt perform well on my skin

Very similar to Fantasm but less of that chocolate coconut combo instead they now added a pistachio accord,think of Dubai chocolate instead of Bounty. Not bad but still not near the level of older A*Men’s (Pure Malt/Tonka/Havane/Coffee).

This fragrance is well-suited for men aged 25 and up, though a confident woman who appreciates masculine notes like wood, leather, and lavender could certainly wear it with style.

This is a nice cologne. I bought a bottle of this, liked it, and then tried A Men Fantasm at the mall. It's literally the same thing but this one has a bit of pistachio in the opening. Smells almost nothing like the original A Men. Cmon now. By itself, this is a pretty good fragrance, but when you compare it to the original mugler line, it's a snoozefest. This must be why I can't for the life of me sell this for even less than half of its retail. These sell for dirt cheap on mercari.

TL;DR it's mid. Sample it first for sure. Non-TL;DR. It's mid, a decent Gourmand fragrance to flesh out a collection but not something I find myself eager to wear. Definitely going back in it's box if I can't stop reaching for other stuff instead of this one.

I'm not sure what they were trying to do here, this smells like Fantasm minus the coconut. I blind bought this and regret it. Missed opportunity in terms of flankers honestly.

In my opinion Thierry would turn in his grave if he could smell Stellar. It's a pretty bad scent compared to any of the old A*mens. Honestly, even an ultra cheap copy, like the Cuba Prestige is much more of an original Mugler then this one. I don't understand the very positive reviews. When I bought it I thought I've been scammed and got a fake copy from the shop I bought from. So I went to two different stores and checked the scent there, but unfortunately the bottle I have is real. Don't blind buy it if you're an old Mugler fan! In the drydown it becomes a shadow of the original, but a little more modern and a little lighter. In this phase it's only half bad, or let's say it's OK, while the opening is a horrible mess, especially the pistacchio note - that's truly garbage. Google says it's made by Louise Turner and Jacques Huclier, and Huclier is the perfumer of maybe the whole old A*men line - but just what happened to him? L'Oreal did not let the man work freely? Every scent in the original line is absolutely amazing: very good and even better fragrances, but Stellar should be simply renamed to A*men Mediocre or A*men Opportunist.

I blind bought this, based upon my love of Angel Stellar. I do not normally wear men's colognes, since I dislike fougères and oceanic scents, and most I've encountered are one or the other. Given that the reviews have been so extremely divisive, blind buying this of all things was admittedly unwise. I took the chance excited at the prospect of finally finding another men's cologne I would actually like. It turns out that I am not in love with it, but not at all for the reasons I might have feared. I was bracing myself for something very odd smelling, and sickeningly strong that hits you in the head like a sledgehammer. To my surprise and confusion, this stuff is very weak. There is little very projection and longevity--the performance is along the lines of a $15 InStyle knock-off. As for the scent, the mint note is detectable for a moment, but otherwise, all that is present is the faintest of pistachio notes. This is an altogether different experience than I had with Angel and its flankers, which I initially despised because of its off-center scent and strength, and later learned to love.

I genuinely do not like this. It is a very spicy - pistachio overload from the beginning. Maybe it might smell different on a guy, but on my skin it’s unwearable. There is some coffee and tonka bean - individually all beautiful notes, but together in this perfume it’s not a pleasant composition. The dry down also doesn’t help.

As a AMen Fanboy, this is very disapointing. Fantasm was already medíocre, but this is redundant and even worst. This Revival of the line is not going that well in my opinion.

Man, I’m disappointed with this. Way too similar to Phantasm and the OG, and I barely get any pistachio, if any. And once again, the heavy patchouli ruins it just like it did Phantasm. Mugler needs to stop relying SO heavily on the original A*Men DNA in the recent flankers and go back to what they used to do. So disappointed. Slightly worse than Phantasm for me, but SO similar and redundant. The women’s counterpart is MUCH better than this. Their recent men’s releases feel extremely lazy. Why the hell not re-release the masterpieces? Why make these lazy, sub-par flankers? I don’t get it.

was in nostrums sniffing around and decided to get my nose on this bad idea... holy mother of god this thing smelled terrible. I like most fragrances I try, there are very few where I'll say "nah, I don't like that." this however... is an abomination It smelled like macerated piss, no joke. maybe from a cat, maybe a dog, maybe a fucking horse, but it was unmistakably piss. I've never smelled secretions magnifique, but this is how I imagine it smells. literally buy ANYTHING else 0/10 would NOT recommend. I REPEAT, DO NOT RECOMMEND.

this is genuinely the WORST fragrance I have ever smelt, its like a flash bang when you spray it and then dries down to smell like a fart the wettest most disgusting fart ever, when I sprayed it on me my immediate reaction was to wash it off right away, definitely NOT blind buy safe

Sorry, I had a cousin that wore this once and I literally couldn't go near him. It's so strong and coffee and weird and horrid. Buying this is self harm and also harmful to me and the women in your life

Had very high hopes for this but it didn't measure up. Just like fantasm this should not be in the Amen line. It does not have the same classic Amen DNA. Not in the least bit similar. Totally different and something else entirely. Or rather it's like someone tried to copy the Amen line vibe but failed This is a powdery vanilla dominant fragrance that has tonka and hints of coffee, but is pretty lackluster in overall quality. It hints at the original Amen line but falls way short. Almost like a cheap clone house dupe It's also musky and herbal along with sun tan lotion vibes. Heavy on the sun tan lotion vibes. It does smell a little gourmand, like a dark chocolate roasted pistachio nut.....kinda, but idk it leans kinda feminine. Every other note here is overpowered by the vanilla and herbs and it's overall very synthetic Performance is ok I guess, but it sits close to the skin. It's better than Fantasm but that's not saying much because Fantasm is not very good I'm trying hard to like it but it's not at all living up to the Amen flanker line DNA or quality. Not even close. They should have called it something else. It's just not Amen line quality and it gives a sour taste in the mouth towards Mugler if you have any of the discontinued gems from that line. Mugler quality used to be through the roof Tragic that L'Oreal bought out Mugler and now they kinda suck The original Amen is still good though. I bought a bottle like maybe four years ago and it's still good. Idk if they reformulated even that one though Good bye Mugler I guess. Oh well The Amen line is basically over with. These are not living up to it and it's not at all fitting that they carry the Amen line name 4.5/10

I’m a Mugler fan and have had numerous bottles of the OG and have a number of the discontinued flankers that I keep for special occasions. From the off this is crushed nuts but the A*men DNA is there with the coffee note and it is creamier than most of the previous releases. I’ve seen some reviews that make a big play on the fact that the patchouli note has allegedly been dropped but particularly in the dry down I’m picking up a strong patchouli note and I’m pretty much certain it is still there. If you are a mugler fan then this is a no brain blind buy. If you don’t like the DNA than avoid. It’s versatile and not as cold weather night time based as most of the A*men line. I could even wear this on a summers day but I do live in a cooler climate. Keep these bad boys rolling again please. I’ve missed you.

First impression review; light, creamy, vanilla and tonka. Smells pleasant and has an undercurrent of powdery mint and a coconut aroma that seems to be on trend. Chocolate wafts in the drydown, similar to an instant mint-choc hot drink. It's faint though, kinda like how a cloud might smell in a kid's cartoon, kinda like white noise... Amen in name only, honestly a far cry from '96 OG. Does smell like Fantasm but not an exact simulation. Love the original and wanted this just for the collection, and it's nice so I'm not overly dissatisfied, it's just tame for a descendant of Mugler's ground breaking masterpiece. Performance average to ok.

A*Men Stellar is very identical to the original A * Men combined with Fantasm. It has an identical scent profile which focuses more on the minty and vibrant opening, mixed with the aromatic lavender and a creamy fresh spicy base after. It's not a unique release, but a commendable one. The longevity is no different than the other A * Men. It lasts approximately 8 hours on my skin and projects about an arm's length for the first 2 hours before it turns to a skin scent after. (Depends on skin types) If you have performance issues; make sure you buy from a safe source

Got a sample, happy to have tried it. I prefer Fantasm personally. I will probably pick this up once it hits discounters or trade for a bottle just to have it in my collection. It seems like a more airy version of Fantasm without the dark cocoa note, replaced with pistachio. A much lighter composition. It also doesn't have the longevity of Fantasm, which after sitting for a year (with little usage) is borderline beast mode now. I like it, but it's not something I need to have in my collection at retail price.

A sweet-fresh fragrance a bit like last years Fantasm flanker if you smelled that one. I sadly don't get a distinct pistachio note here. It's kind of a dense fragrance, but not in the sense of it smelling heavy, but more that it fills air a lot. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me lol. I feel like if you imagine that this is something between Invictus Victory, Bad Bod Extreme and Y Elixir, then you get a very good idea of how this one smells. A*Men Stellar is a bit more classy take on that DNA.

This just smells gross! Where does pistachio possibly sit in any fragrance ever! Id rather it be in my gelato. Genuinely do not buy stellar because it smells bad, and don't buy any mugler scent after loreal purchased the company in 2020, even buy bottles from before 2015 because back then the original a*men was severely nuetered aswell. All the current ones last 30 minutes you have to do your research and buy vintage bottles off of ebay.

The opening is INTENSE!! After the first two hours its similar to Boss Bottled Absolu or Lalique White in Black, just add an old-school style lavender (think of Acqua Di Parma). Very unique tho, I now get why people like Mugler, I appreciate the daringness. Intriguing yet after the opening still a great mass-appealing wear, nice transition. On paper the fresher mintlavender shine, on skin it turned dark real quick for me.

i just recently tried this and honestly its really good. its like a sexy masculine aromatic dna but made more unique and has the dna of the original a*men but way less gourmand and sweet its one of the few perfumes that i like on myself and also would find it sexy on a man (usually i lean for more fem scents for myself as a man) i honestly find this a perfect balance between aromatic and gourmand

So happy to have another A*Men .. bought Fantasm quickly. But L'Oréal shouldn't be so lazy. The Rubber A*Men O.G., Fantasm and now Stellar are all black in colour. Change the flacon colour for Pete's sake. Makes me feel the scent might be only slightly different from the other 2 I mentioned. Red....Lime Green... Purple... even Yellow aren't classically masculine colours but dare to be different!
