Angel Elixir

I liked this as soon as I smelled it. I bought a sample and now I'm be buying a full bottle for sure. It is a love at this point. It's a beautiful vanilla floral with a little woodiness. I knew it was familiar, but I couldn't place it. I finally realized what it was... This is Armani Code, but with amber and extra vanilla instead of a powerhouse of citrus and ginger. This does not have the longevity of Armani Code, but, in my opinion it's more beautiful and for me much more wearable. I love vanilla and it plays an integral part in this perfume as well as the amber. The jasmine is beautiful in this without overtaking you. Alien this is not, though some have compared the two. Alien's jasmine is much too strong for me. Sometimes with jasmine and with orange blossom, even though they are beautiful, they can be so strong they cause allergies-even headaches, so much so that you are unable to enjoy the fragrance because the notes are putting you in a choke hold. With Armani Code, this is the case, and with the abundance of citrus and ginger added in, it becomes laundry detergent on steroids. With Angel Elixir, everything is blended perfectly. You are finally getting enough vanilla and with the amber added the scent is more balanced. I would say the longevity for this would be 4-6 hours. The sillage would be arms length. This is office friendly and appropriate for day or night, but would shine best in fall and spring weather. This leaves a beautiful scent trail and will cling well to clothes and hair. I sprayed this on before bed and did not smell it in the morning. I do wish that it had more longevity, but I enjoy it enough to reapply as needed. Anne Flipo is a master perfumer, and to me this perfume creation is no exception. I have to agree as many reviewers have noted, that the original Angel DNA is not present. This is not a gourmand or extremely woody fragrance, and patchouli is not in the mix. I think that's ok though, as Angel has been around for over 30 years and there are dozens of flankers that have been made that also do not share the DNA. Angel Nova as an example, has nothing to do with the original Angel. It is a beautiful fragrance that stands on its own and is well made and was aligned with the trends in perfume at that moment, such as PDM's Delena and Carolina Herrera's Very Good Girl. All in all I think this is a safe blind buy if you love vanilla florals, enjoy a woody base to your perfumes, and especially if you enjoyed Armani Code, but maybe felt it was a bit too strong or citrusy.

I received this iteration of the Angel lineup as a Christmas gift last year, and I've steadily worked through a 0.8-fl oz bottle in that time. I wear perfume daily, but I try my hardest to wear inoffensive or unchallenging fragrances as my profession involves direct physical interaction with hundreds of people throughout the day. Angel Elixir is probably my most consistently complimented fragrance by far, which is odd as I'm a man, and people typically ascribe/associate these cozy vanilla white florals with stereotypically feminine people. I must disclose that I am a gay man (& I am told it is easy to discern that I am), so there's a consideration to be made there. I think, though, that Angel Elixir is simply a very well-rounded amber vanilla with an impactful dose of white flowers. I can see how this may be cloying or blindingly strong if oversprayed (no more than 1x per wrist, 1x on the shirt/neck). Comparatively, I purchased the ALT Fragrances clone of Mugler's Alien. Alien has a straightforward & well-understood formula, and I feel comfortable purchasing a clone so many years after its release. I prefer Angel, not only for the more modern amber raw materials that constitute the base but also for the variance in the white flowers, as Angel Elixir has more variety and depth. I like Alien and the scent profile, but I think Angel Elixir is a direct improvement in the Alien DNA. All of that comparative nonsense aside, I don't feel that the sandalwood or pink pepper comes through very much in this fragrance. I was hoping the pink pepper would have more of a presence throughout the fragrance, but when it comes down to it, Angel Elixir smells like a candied and ambery white floral. I get about 6-8 hours of longevity on the skin and near-eternal longevity on clothes. There is no pissy or animalic side to any of the white flowers; if there are any present, they're vastly outplayed by the base notes. The price is pretty fair, though I'd prefer not to pay an in-store retail price for it. If you can find it online, you'd probably be better off. It's a solid pick, and I'll likely pick up another bottle.

ANGEL ELIXIR: THE MARKETING TRAP WORTH FALLING FOR Like most of the fragrance world, I was initially thrown off and completely confused by this release. Mugler’s marketing heavily implies that this is just a stronger, denser, more syrupy version of the original iconic patchouli bomb. If you walk into this expecting a louder classic Angel, you are going to be entirely disappointed. It doesn't smell like any other Angel in existence. Upon first spray, it felt a bit linear and hit me with that dense, classic "French perfumery" profile—a heavy, thick wall of scent that can be hard to dissect. But after giving it multiple tries and recently side-by-side testing it with Alien Goddess Intense, the architecture clicked. This is actually a highly underrated, incredibly interesting white floral gourmand. The magic happened when I realized there was a prominent ylang-ylang note in here—a personal favorite of mine. The jasmine and orange blossom meld together beautifully, creating a profile that is as ethereal as it is downright scrumptious. It is creamy, sumptuous, and absolutely perfect when you are in the mood for a high-tier white floral. It leans feminine, has great longevity, and effortlessly shifts from a bright day scent to a seductive night weapon. The real crime here was the naming. If Mugler had just called this anything else, the fragrance community wouldn't have collectively panicked. The marketing was totally off. As a devoted Mugler and Angel lover, I can appreciate that this still embodies the risky, challenging artistry the house is famous for. It takes a few tries to understand it, but once you stop comparing it to the original, it completely changes your mind. If it manages to survive and hits the grey market sales, I guarantee we will see a massive public resurgence and a complete rewrite of its reputation. Give it a real chance.

I quite like this but I won't wax lyrical about it. It's not a distinctive fragrance, but by my standards, I wouldn't call it generic either. I find all the candied vanilla bombs out there to be what I call generic today. Also, in full disclosure, I didn't really like the original when I tested it in 2011 – I found the patchouli in that formulation quite dank and with the chocolate and caramel and cotton candy and fruit and everything else a bit of a mess (I felt that way about original TF Black Orchid too), and I'm not sure how it compares to current formulations. I haven't been compelled to try it either even though I'm a patchouli lover. Elixir is beautiful, simple, and an easy wear, lending just enough complexity to not be minimalist or linear. Wooded, with tempered pepper, slightly dark and cool. The flowers are balanced with a little jasmine, a little orange blossom, and a little ylang ylang. It's a shaded pseudo-sandalwood vanilla, with a moderate amber. Reminds me of a woodier, drier version of 90's throwback Fire & Ice by Revlon. That's not a bad thing. It doesn't smell dated. It's not so outstanding that I want a full bottle, but for me it's a perfectly safe scent to keep in a travel size (which I did purchase) in my purse or car, for when I've forgotten to put something on before going out the door, and will work in any situation while still being elegant and sensual. I'd even say that if you don't like anything overly complicated or super hyped, this is signature worthy.

Angel Elixir is a very beautiful fragrance. It has a very sparkling and lively initial peppery note, just enough to not overpower but still give energy and vitality. Here, the flowers quickly enter the scene and elegantly take over. It's not a very mature floral, but a modern one. Jasmine, ylang-ylang, and orange blossom in unison, joining hands with a beautiful sandalwood that gives it that gorgeous, woody aftertaste with the "Oriental Xtreme" note... I won't forget the vanilla; it's one of the best vanillas I've ever smelled. That bourbon note with the amber makes the finish of this perfume a marvel from Mugler. Even though L'Oréal has massacred Mugler, you have to admit that the finishes of these perfumes are still wonderful. It doesn't interpret anything new, but within its genre, it's elegant and delicate, very sophisticated, modern, sweet without being overwhelming, woody without being overpowering, and floral without destroying your nose. Beautiful. Was it a mistake to call it Angel? Well, maybe it was. It doesn't resemble its almost namesake at all, but we were lucky because Angel Elixir has this beautiful bottle of the "superstar." If you're not sure whether to buy it... just keep in mind that it'll probably be discontinued soon. What a shame!

I'm highly disappointed with the fragrance community right now. I remember the days when no one suggested random perfumes with weird names as "similar" just to convey their disapproval of a (not even yet released in most of the world) fragrance. Oof, people used to just *not* buy a perfume if they didn't want to. I used to think the fragrance community was a special place that brought together people with a slightly different hobby than most, who have a passion to writing elaborate descriptions of their favorite scents and the memories attached to them. I remember reading reviews that brought tears to my eyes, and other reviews that had me rolling with laughter, wheezing and falling out of my chair. Now it just seems like it's filled with bitter bullies, who have nowhere else to release their poison. More than I am sad about Mugler's transition to a generally more crowd-pleasing profile, I am sad to see where this community is going. I am looking forward to actually smelling Elixir when I can. And if I don't like it, I'm not going to buy it.

I just blind bought a bottle for much cheaper second hand and it did not disappoint! I can see why this has so many negative reviews because it does feel more generic and basic than the other flankers and original angel... but something about it is so addicting!!! I’m already a fan of Jasmine and orange blossom as well as vanilla so I knew I would like this one. It’s spicy, it’s floral, it’s creamy and even though it’s not like the original angel it’s so unique in its own way. I was expecting it to be stronger since it is an elixir but I’m very pleased either way. I did see a review saying it reminded them of hot steaming oolong tea and I can second that because it does feel very “tea” like and spicy. Also to mention it’s much more wearable in work environments than og angel and lighter in the vanilla as well. All around I think is a safe blind buy if you like jasmine! I definitely feel like I’m falling more in love with it as I’m wearing it!

Heavy sweet and floral addition to the original Angel which i love, i am male, it is important, i would not and never spray on myself something which i would not want to sniff in the most intimate moments with a partner. the most beautiful gesture is to sniff it from myself. and this is why i am a big fan of such fragrances. as far as performance, for it's nominal price, it doesn't deliver the the performance equal to the original Angel, however, since dear old T.M had passed away and he surely is not the nose and brain behind this release it is difficult to criticize, i personally would continue and keep the original brothel Mugler atmosphere and make it more vigorous and heavier, for his memory, and for the future of the brand. as for value for money, i feel that at this formulation it is a step above it's true value and is overpriced on par with it's performance. it is good, i love it. but it could be much better.

I ordered many samples of many perfumes and out of them all, this was in my top 3. I agree that it is not "unique" enough for a Mugler frag. This release is not consistent in style with previous releases. This one is a non-offensive, crowd pleaser that smells kinda familiar to many other perfumes. What I really liked about it is how smooth and creamy it is. Such uplifting, and bright white floral gourmand. With its sweetness not being too much nor too cloying. Beautiful daily scent for warmer weather that lasts a long time. Love it. It leans about 70% traditionally feminine, but men can rock it too. For its price, I think it's overpriced for what it is. Sure it's smooth goodness but I do feel I smelled something like this before. So it's not very unique. I'll buy a dupe if I find one, it's a good everyday scent.

First, neither the notes or the description implies that this is Angel 2.0. In fact, the description very clearly articulates the significant difference to Angel, while honoring what made Angel famous - it's strange intensity. People who go in expecting the same and leaving terrible reviews are not giving this scent a chance at all, and that is a shame. In one word, Angel Elixir is intoxicating. Figuring out a way to somehow balance both floral for those who are flower heads, and sweet for those who look for a more gourmand smell, is genius. Add to that this scent absolutely honors the spicy, strange hints that you can't quite put your finger on but are somehow drawn to - exactly what made us all fall in love with Angel in the first place. Bravo - they knocked this one out of the park!

this smells nothing like Donna Born in Roma which to me is gross with its indole (read: poopiness). i mostly get the absolutely mouth-wateringly sweet orange blossom and the creamy jasmine, a la My Way, but this is deeper and woodier than My Way. i loved the hard candy description someone brought up. there is also something... sparkly about it, likely the pepper? it sort of reminds me of this one time i mixed a blood orange san pellegrino with almond milk. everyone says this smells like every other designer scent these days... mayhaps vaguely, but of all the one's i've smelled from this family this is by far the most complex and alluring for me. the longevity is there and she gets me compliments. leave her alone! i love her!

I think it's so funny that this has so many bad reviews on here. I think this is a lovely fragrance, it layers beautifully with Libre Le Parfum because of the jasmine, orange blossom and vanilla. Is it generic? Yes. Is it an overdone DNA? Yes. Does this deviate from the angel DNA? Yes. Would this make a good gift for someone who enjoys jasmine and vanilla? Also YES. I swear some of you people take this hobby waaaay too seriously to the point of becoming cynics lol A lot of people complain this is not polarizing like TM used to be, just please take a look at the ratings of this perfume... it just so happens you are on the other side of the spectrum with this one, but it sure does look polirizing to me still

I’ve seen a lot of hate toward this perfume and while it’s true it doesn’t smell like the original Angel I honestly disagree with most of the criticism. I’m a huge fan of this scent. I searched for a long time in physical stores for a fragrance that has that body-lotion-like, nighttime, hot vibe and I think this one fits that character perfectly. For me it’s a refreshing break from typical designer fragrances. It has amazing projection and longevity, I go to a lot of concerts and it lasts through the entire event, plus I still get compliments. It also layers beautifully with any perfume that has a vanilla base. For me it’s a total bullseye 🖤

When I got a sample of this perfum as a gift with purchase in a store I wasn’t expecting much as I’m not a fan of OG Angel. I have a miniature of it and honestly tried to fall in love with it several times, but it was always too strong and I didn’t enjoy the combination of notes at all, it was like a mishmash without a harmony. But with Angel Elixir it was love at first spray. It’s soft, warm, creamy and sweet, feels cozy and elegant yet sexy. I honestly feel like Mugler has made a mistake by releasing this very nice perfume under the Angel line cause now it gets unjustified hate simple because it doesn’t smell like OG Angel.

It’s a nice, creamy floral with something like a darker candy note to it, it’s not like original angel (although much closer then Nova) although there are some elements which hint at its heritage. It’s not ground breaking by any means but it still is moderately unique although it’s not wildly different from most things out there. The bottle has a beautiful dark blue in the classic asymmetric 5 point star which angel is known for. It’s far, far more approachable and blind/gift buy safe then original Angel and it’s undoubtedly more wildly appealing , it’s pulled many compliments for me.

Mugler missed the boat by releasing this under the Angel umbrella.... this should have been its own special new brand! This is a creamy sweet vanilla rich crowd pleaser, and could have been named something like Vanilla Mood, or Rainy Day Vanilla- it does not speak to me of the original Alien in the least. That said, I'm very pleased with it!! I got the 15 ml travel from Aurafragrance.com for $19.98 and will say that it's an excellent blind buy for me!! Kind of reminds me of Architect's Club from Arquiste, I'm surprised to see that there is not angelica in this one. Good stuff!

I understand the hate as it smells nothing like Angel. In fact it kinda reminds me of Alien instead. Both Angel Elixir and Alien hit my nose in its happy place. Yes, it smells kinda like stereotypical 'grandma's soap', but like... she smells like a nice grandma, so that's not really a criticism to me. Also, I actually hate smelling anything but laundry detergent and shampoo when I'm in bed (other scents overstimulate me when in a location where I feel like I can be... nothing), but I've actually worn this in bed with no problem.

Revising my review again because it’s been such a ride. I love this and ended up buying a bottle, I find the dry down so addicting. The first time I tried it it had inconsistent staying power and the pepper blast was not my fave, almost like a dirty wood to my nose, but then blooms to a warm vanilla. Maybe weather dependent as it’s spring? But I kept coming back to it and I just love how it develops, I get whiffs of it for hours and it feels sexy, cozy and delicious. Gonna enjoy to the max before it hits 30+ for summer

honestly, i dont get the hate yes it is not a polarizing mugler scent but this fragrance is really good its super sexy. i mainly get the white florals, fruit notes(similar to the fruit in angel edp), and an INTENSE WOODY SPICY VIBE which makes it unique this fragrance isn't fully cream mode no it has an intense woody SPICY note i find the pink pepper prominent. does it smell like original angel? no it smells more like alien. is it a good perfume? absolutely. my only complaint is that this doesn't have patchouli.

I cannot scream at the top of my lungs enough how this is literally the most insanely beast gourmand perfume ever.... It doesn’t even matter if you hate every single note in the description here, I’m convinced you’ll still fall in love with the juice. I’ve never smelled something so gravitationally-sweet and just desirable. This is the -prettiest stranger at the airport you’ll never see again type scent. Such a unique smell that doesn’t even smell perfumey’. Smells like the creamiest blend of sweet bliss.

I do so like this flanker. I can see why people don’t find the connection to the OG, but I guess I get it for some reason. Just enough, or maybe it’s the placebo of the bottle. Regardless I really enjoy this woodsy floral. It feels a bit more sophisticated than some other white florals, with the nice earthy middle. I find the performance is solid with a few sprays. Nothing can really compare to the OG Angel when it comes to that. Love it in my Mugler collection. Full disclosure- I’m a Mugler stan.

Love 10/10! Don't buy this expecting something similar to Angel OG (which I don't like). This is a beautiful vanilla/peppery/sandalwood/jasmine combo that IMO, would have made a better flanker for Alien than for Angel, but I'm glad they did since I prefer the star shaped bottle. Also, don't buy this expecting Born in Roma. BiR is sweeter and has some fruitiness that Elixir doesn't have. I do find it to be closer to Good Fortune than BiR but still not the same, the jasmine in GF is more prominent.

@Mtotheelly your review convinced me to buy this one! Will update my review when my bottle arrives. ** Update 4/15 - Received yesterday, and I love it! Elixir honestly smells more like an Alien Goddess flanker vs. an Angel flanker, but I'm not complaining. ;) The scent reminds me of a combination of DBIR Intense and Alien Goddess Intense, although it's not as strong as the former and is stronger than the latter. I also much prefer the jasmine in Elixir over that found in the DBIR line.

For a mature women desiring a zingy white floral, looking for that potent "french smelling" type of juice (that often gives others headache vibes), this is your scent. Jasmine and orange blossom are very foreard for me, but they are buttery and creamy. A light zing of fruityness just past the floral opening that balances the white floral and keeps it from being too mature. I do believe this is a very mature or aged woman's type fragrance. I think it would be best for spring nights.

My favourite from Mugler. Spicy and I get coconut somehow at first, not too keen on the first notes. The dry down, however, is amazing, at least for someone who adores sweeter scents. It reminds me a lot of milk tea or condensed milk. This intoxicating yet soft, sweet, floral vanilla, slightly warm lactonic scent sticks on you for hours. Sprayed it on my skin and could smell it clearly after 4 hours, I'm sure it would stay longer on clothing.

OG Angel's PR agent. Sweet with an edge (that peppery opening), can work any room, prototypical but dressed in couture, talks fast and smooth, and before you know it you're booking anyone and everyone she represents, repeatedly. A lovely, ambery white floral with a slight edge and only a WHISPER of OG DNA. Money well spent. EDIT: After wearing this a couple of times, I'm realizing it's more like Alien than Angel. It's softer but similar.

Angel Elixir is still enjoyable despite not being as complex as the original. It takes me back to my childhood, when I would stay up late waiting for my older sister to come home from Lisbon. She always sprayed herself with Britney Spears’ Fantasy and/or Escada Magnetism after smoking, just before greeting the family. The scent also reminds me of how the inside of her leather bag/jacket used to smell like. Idk, I just really love it.

I have been trying to find a signature perfume scent and I think this may be it. I have wore it for a week now and consistently gravitate toward it every day. I love that perfume is an individual thing and I know this may not be for everyone but I love it. I've been layering it with Cloud by Ariana, which was my favourite scent before this but it wasn't as strong as I would've liked. I love the white floral, woody, vanilla scent.

I've never smelled the original so I can't base anything off of that but this stuff smells incredible to me. I just got a sample today and I already want a bigger bottle. I recently got into perfume collecting again and Angel Nova has become my favorite so I knew I wanted to try more of Mugler's perfumes. This one has such a nice creamy scent mixed with a little spiciness. I get a lot of the vanilla out of it which I love.

I love this fragrance and am very lucky to have it. To me, it smells like gourmet vanilla and lavender ice‐cream. Yes, there is such an ice-cream flavor as lavender. It projects and lasts so I do not have to spray a lot of times and reapplication isn't needed. This is the type of scent I savor because it creates an entire aura of‐‐ Yes, I'd buy it again. Yes, it is a staple product.

Lo voy a dejar macerar unos meses para que la proyección sea más notoria. Actualmente después de la primera hora baja su proyección a un brazo de distancia en mi piel que les he contado es rebelde.

I’ve never had a love for Angel, but Elixir I’m obsessed with. There’s a metallic note in this that I haven’t found anywhere else. If the moon was a lady she’d have this in her rotation. The orange blossom, pink pepper, and amber are the stars for me; I don’t get any vanilla. Wear this on a wet 70° night after a few drinks. Pairs beautifully with a cigarette and hairspray.

og angel but palatable, maybe too much to a fault. that's not a bad thing for me personally since i tried to like the og angel countless of times but i just could not stand the myriad of notes. you still somewhat get the essence of the original without having to tolerate the original's polarizing nature. like the original, you either love it or hate it for that attribute.

Yes it should not be named under the Angel name, yes it's generic or basic, and yes it should not be named Elixir, but this took too much hate than it deserves, if it deserves any!! I'm a mugler die hard fan, i love how the house's perfumea are polarizing and distinctive, but can't we appreciate this sweet thing for what it is, and stop treating it like the black duck?

i love this. i know it's a stiff take on Angel, i know it's not the bizarro flanker of our dreams... but it doesn't have to be! it's warm, vibrant, gorgeous, and a little bit... lost but you'll be taken care of. a contemporary rich gourmand wood and a shockingly easy reach for a Mugler. Elixir wants you to love it. and i love it! so sue me!

i love this scent its very pleasant and cozy it really gives intimate skin scent kind of vibe but more elevated more strong its like a creamy clean scent u can never go wrong with. this is not a statement scent or a scent u can wear when u wanna stand out and i dont hate that honestly it really just smells pleasant intimate and sexy

This is for the girls who did not like the original angel. To make it simple you take angel, turn the patchouli way down, turn up the white florals. This fragrance seems more like it would fit in with the alien line. That jasmine really shines through and dries down with a floral vanilla that almost seems caramel like.

I agree with some reviewers, this should be under Alien flanker, not Angel. I hate Angel OG, but I love this. White floral bombs, mainly orange blossoms which is my favorite note and jasmine, with a bit of vanilla and woody in the background. Projection is soft to medium, very wearable, pretty and very feminine.

I actually didn't like the original Angel but this one I looove. It smells so sweet and clean!! Like marsille soap mixed with powdery vanilla. It doesn't last that long on me, definitely cannot smell it after 6h but I still love it and it's one of my favorite perfumes everrr. So versatile and good.

Definitely similar to Born in Roma, but I think that Angel Elixir is more tolerable. Really nice woodsy floral vanilla; if you mostly like gourmands I think this one is a good pick, despite having floral notes as well. Good longevity; not a super original smelling fragrance but still really nice!!

My personal scheme of this perfume is manic episodes , bad friends and regrettable decisions HOWEVER, It smells like the alien jasmine with a ambery vanilla aspect to it that is unique, i think the people saying ohhh its not really unique are kind of snobbish because you wouldn't smell this often

Ignore the hate- this is STUNNING. Im obsessed with this perfume and it's my favourite of the angel line. Its a heady white/yellow floral vanilla; the vanilla is almost chocolate-ty? Very creamy. She's sexy and means business. Reminds me of Dior Addict (dark blue bottle) and Good Girl.

Really intense Jasmine bomb with orange blossoms on the side. Really strong even on my dry as Sahara desert skin. If you like perfumes like My Way and Donna Born in Roma then you're going to love this. I hate original Angel and I don't think they're similar in the slightest..

i was instantly drawn to this perfume when i tried it. some months later i bought a full bottle and then a refill. gotten tons of compliments! i would say it has become kind of a signature scent:P white floral, dark, woody, a little spicy, a little sweet. love it.

This gets alot of hate. It's great to me It's addicting sweet and perfect for anytime. I recommend ! It does have that angel smell to it but in a different way. I have 4 bottles of it. It's definitely if you know you know type of vibe. To me It's perfect !

this used to be my favorite perfume but it seems since i bought it the scent has changed, the liquid is orange, and now all i can get from it is baby wipes. disappointing because of the price point and because i didnt get to make a big dent in it.

Beautiful and it's unnecessary to compare to the OG Angel. Obviously they're far from being any similar. Angel Elixir reminds me of Donna Born in Roma because of that combination of sweetness and jasmine. I think Angel Elixir is a bit more soapy.

It’s like if a nerdy weird girl tried to be what was popular! It’s a beauty but the disguises are weird. I love it for that. It has a super popular scent profile but somehow oddly distinct and standalone. Well done. The sillage is beast mode.

Super beachy woody vibe nothing like Angel at all thank God I hate the og. I might get a back up I love it so much! It has that molecular structure like Donna born in roma but nope this is way better. Super creamy beach type scent for summer.

As soon as you put it on it's quite peppery, but after a while it becomes a warm vanilla, woody and floral scent. I find that I can wear it for ages and not get bored of it. The smell of it makes me want to use it everyday.
