Angel Garden Of Stars - Pivoine Angel

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE FRAGRANCE FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS A UNIQUE, SEXY, FRESH, SOFT AND INTIMATE SCENT. I cannot say enough good things about this lovely man Thierry Mugler. I have been wearing Angel now for like, 7 years or more, and once I was introduced to Garden of Stars I couldn't pick a fave. But Peony stuck with me.. and normally I don't like Peony. I normally do not like florals unless they dry into a powdery, musky, soft, vanillay, amber like-smokey scent. And this does. It has just enough floral freshness at the beginning notes and enough softness that lingers on your skin. THAT IS.. on the *right* skin tone.. everyone is different.. and it wont work for everyone.. It has staying power and I can smell it on myself even after the day is over. I use only 2 sprays, one on my chest and one on my pulse points that I rub together and THEN rub on my neck. And it lasts that long. ...Simply fantastic.

Bright and lovely Mugler scent I remember years ago sampling the garden of star’s collection by Thierry Mugler found them interesting but never purchased them until recently when I rediscovered la rose and peony through some samples I had stored, at first I wasn’t too found of the peony it seemed like an aquatic dusty floral version of angel, however I was optimistic and let it sit, this fragrance is most different from the rest of the garden of stars collection, much fresher for daytime and wearable in the warmer months and sexy-flirty enough for year round , I felt it developing into a beautiful bright, dusty, fresh but sweet floral with the original angel body, definitely not a blind buy but you gotta let this one sit to develop into a bloom of beauty. So sad this is discontinued I hope Mugler can relaunch this again along with the rest of the garden of stars collection.

Pivoine opens with a smell of aldehyde, some patchouli and a hint of chocolate. The chocolate disappears very soon and the scent becomes a little soapy and sharp. Then comes the heart notes with peony, pepper, patchouli and rose. Peony and pepper are prominent, makes it more like a spicy-floral scent. At this stage, I might not think of Angel if I smell it blind. However, it continues to evolve into a dark chocolate drydown though it's not listed, like a ghost of Angel. I actually like the heart notes a lot. Peony touched by spicy pepper, tender but with characters. And it's less close to the original than La Rose version IMO. The sillage and the longevity is among average and less good compared to its colleagues from the same house. It's an interesting interpretation with classic Angel elements, but you might need to like pepper to appreciate it better.

Angel in a garden heralding the beginning of summer. The sweet peonies feel fresh, touched with a slightly playful sharpness—most likely from pepper. As the fragrance unfolds, it becomes more rosy and sweeter, while the patchouli characteristic of Angel remains clearly perceptible, though the overall composition is gentler. Longevity on fabric lasts throughout the day, with moderate sillage. It is worth keeping in mind, however, that this is a vintage composition, so certain nuances may have evolved over time. The flacon, like all those from this collection, is a small work of art. Beautiful discontinued perfumes that awaken nostalgia for the kind of collections no longer created today.

I just bought it this evening without much hope, just out of curiosity. And, voila ! It is nearly all what I hope that the original Angel EDP, which is big love and has the divine scent at first note but a biot harsh and bitter bottom note on my skin, does not have : the middle note is more floral ( the first note is superb but not as divine as that of Angel EDP ), more lady-like, and, especially the bottom note is way more feminine, sexier , and less harsh than that of the Angel EDP. Brighter, a little bit lighter than the original. The big bottle and the miniature are very pretty show-up. OMG, I love it so so so much !

I own and Love Pivoine Angel. I have to say that I prefer it even over the Original Angel now. If I compare the two, which are undboubtedly related in smell... the big difference to me is that the original seems to have a strong coconut note, and Pivoine/peony has a more distinctive floral peony smell, with a lovely sweet musky dry down. Lasting power is good, and after a couple of hours of wear, on me becomes a softer skin scent. It draws compliments (even from other women) and I hope that they will not discontinue this one.

I LOVE this, but despite some reviews, it is very similar to the original Angel- more sisters than cousins. Deliscious, compelling ,mysterious, extravagant notes that demand an opinion, one way or the other. An array of mouth watering desserts, with candy, fruit, flowers, and every conceivable sweet experience awaits you in this bottle....just like every Angel bottle. Just a tad fresher or more wearable than the original Angel for the workplace. Bottom line? This is for the true Angel aficiando- others need not apply.

My second favourite in Mugler's Garden of Stars series. Powerful, incredibly long lasting and so peppery! I wear this during the autumn and winter months as it is so warming. It sits beautifully on my skin and I love it when it gets into my clothes as well! The aroma lingers on my clothes for weeks!

This scent is balancing between grandeur natural beauty of the flower and delicate fragrance at heart. It's all about being luxuriant and fragile at the same time, spectacular in looks and sensitive in touch. This enchanting contrast is geniously expressed by Olivier Cresp.

Admittedly this is a very intense and noticable perfume, once you put it on, you don'tstop smelling it for hours. However, when mixed with Nina by Nina Ricci it creates a very pleasant mix of the strong Angel and the fruity Nina. Call me crazy if you will.

It is really clean, but not too soapy or aquatic. It is unique with the tipical Angel marks. It was a simple, average fragrance at first, but nowadays I started to crave for it. Strong, long lasting, clean and sweet. Very feminine.

peonies? haha! I'm gobsmacked like ElShap. Some peony-centric fragrances: CK Eternity Moment, Stella EDT, Nest Dahlia & Vines, even Acqua di Gio for women. This is my first time sampling a proper vintage angel, my previous star was from one of the clarins-era iterations (2009-2014 if not mistaken). Angel has this signature "honey" accord tied to the patchouli, some people pick it up as BO, here It is quite subdued. To me, Angel was never a sweet savory fragrance, it's a bold strong one, but also feels safe and secure like a steel armour. the bottle that I got has absolutely all of the top notes burnt off, I got peony out of the three because I like Olivier Cresp's hand in perfumery. Thankfully the juice settled and no longer smells like vinegar. The pepper is perfumey enough, the vanilla is not sweet nor overtly present, the flowers are a cute side note to the herbal-earthy signature Angel patchouli that is so well known and dear to us, but restrained and well manered. It's not an assault on the nostrils, on fabric the florals are clean and proper. this one probably does not have a lot of nuance but... a cleaner, fresher, Office friendly version of Angel makes sense to me. the patch on the edp does not agree with me and I'm not big on sugary sweet fragrances (I draw my limit at black opium on the ethyl maltol scale and Its not even sweet) so I'm not particularly drawn to Angel and honestly a*men smells like wet butt and it's not really giving masc so I cant pull that off either (chocolate patchouli turns fecal on me). I like this Diet Soda Angel, it's quite dignified like some reviewers stated below. Perhaps it's not a hidden gem like Violette but it's nice to sample, it's mostly flowery and powdery. Drydown is actually quite compelling... reminds me a lot of what the original Opium EDT smelled on the drydown, like flowery buttery candles burning

I did not care for this Angel the first time I wore it. Pivoine struck me as harsh, unbalanced, and bland. Thankfully, after another couple of wearings, Pivoine bloomed (pun intended) and offered another unique take on Angel that has a different tone than the other scents in the Garden of Stars line. Pivoine is the freshest of the bunch. The peony is pillow-soft, feminine, and perfectly suited for a bright spring day.I do not smell any rose, but I can detect a light brush of white floral influence from the LOTV. It's slightly powdery but still dewy and fresh. It contrasts nicely with a bed of dark and fuzzy choco-patch-honey-musk from the Angel base. The base is sweet, but not as sweet as the more modern Angel formulations, so I would definitely not consider Angel Pivoine to be foodie. Still, it complements the floral sweetness of the peony. One note that I have some difficulty with in Angel Pivoine is the pepper. It is prominent from beginning to end, and can be a bit harsh initially. It does back down a little through the drydown. I think it works alright and brings some texture to the scent, but I could take it or leave it. Unlike Angel Rose or Angel Violette (or classic Angel, for that matter) Pivoine is lovely in the heat, despite the heavy base notes, but can feel dull in the cold. Definitely bring out Pivoine on warm spring and summer days. Angel Pivoine is elegant, joyful, and has a spring in her step, in contrast to the more relaxed and whimsical tones of Violette and Lily and extravagance of Rose.

Another huge disappointment after trying Mugler's Rose :-( I love peonies in nature and I must say that perfume does not remind me peonies at all, my mum used to have garden full of peonies and there is no way that perfume smells like them!!! The lasting power is somehow better than Le Rose but my first association when I smelled my wrist was that of crayons' smell :-) no peonies!!!! After about an hour the fragrance started to remind me of flowers but these were still not peonies!!!! The fragrance bacame a bit bitter and after another 5 hours it changed to sour, I was so annoyed and confused! I thanked God I bought only small bottle of that perfume but I was so sure that I was going to love it! I tried so far all 4 Garden Flowers and I must say that although I felt sceptical about Le Lys and Le Violette - I actually fell in love with them!!!! To peonies' lovers: Don't jump into getting yourself a big bottle, just try it first as the lasting power isn't too bad, but I just could not smell any peonies in it!

I don't like Angel*, but the Garden of Stars flankers really make it work for me, especially the Violette one. This one is is heavy on the patchouli and kept in check with the peony. They are the main notes that I get. Upon drydown, the rose is noticeable and it all becomes more powdery, and the morning after the day before, there is the vanilla. I think the Garden of Stars range is comprised of very classy fragrances and Pivoine is no exception. It's not sweet like peony usually is; it's a fairly sour floral, so I would recommend testing first as if you like sweet you may find this one disappointing. I feel like a grown-up when I wear this**. *on me. I do on other people. One of my colleagues manages to carry it off perfectly. I remain slightly envious! **i don't usually, despite being 33. what a pity it doesn't make me act like one too. TL;DR: Angel but calmer with peony. Try if usual Angel is too much for you.

It's a bit on the vintage side of things, in comparison to the others in the collection. It has this very dusty, powdery-floral opening that's borderline pee-like, but at the same time it isn't particularly long lasting as a whole. In my opinion it will suit a more mature audience (not in a derogatory sense at all), as it might take some finesse to wear this one. Honestly I wouldn't be able to tell it's an Angel at all if I blind tested it, which could be a good thing for people who don't like Angel, but I do like Angel so I feel like I'm missing something here, like some potential was lost. In any case, I don't hate it, I wouldn't mind smelling it on others, but I won't go out of my way to find a full bottle. I've yet to try it in warmer days though (some comments suggested it works better in the heat), so take my review with a grain of salt in the meantime.

Although I am not a fan of Angel, I was intrigued to try this based on the notes list. Initially, I could pick out only the peony, patchouli, and pepper. These three create an intense opening that does remind me of the blast of patchouli from the original Angel. However, it does wear down into a more interesting, wearable take on the Angel line. The peony plays against the patchouli and pepper for a bright, freshness in contrast to the spicy woodiness. After it wears down, the rose and vanilla add some sweetness that is softer and more powdery. The base of the fragrance feels very soapy, clean, and vaguely spicy with some floral remnants. It's not my love, but it is interesting enough that I enjoyed wearing it. I would describe it as floral woodiness with an edge.

Angel Garden of Stars Pivoine starts out with peony, patchouli and pepper. The peony adds a really fresh brightness that works well with the rose. The patchouli is prominent, but not overwhelmingly so, as in the case of traditional Angel. There is an interesting combination of freshness and spiciness. There is a soft, clean, powdery feeling from the rose and vanilla. I couldn't pick out the lily of the valley note at all. I found this fragrance more interesting because of the spiciness. The contrast of musky patchouli, spicy pepper, and bright peony made it interesting to wear. Its not my favorite fragrance, but I thought it was fun to try. It wears down to a sweet, clean, soapy scent. This is a long-lasting fragrance with moderate silage.

Special thanks to Conifer lover for the sample! This is quite lovely! To me, it's more related to La Rose Angel than the original Angel. I don't smell much peony, but it's still a very pretty fragrance. On my skin, it was actually fairly sweet, but not so much that it can't be worn during warmer temps. I can pick out the patchouli in this very easily, so if that's a note you don't like, this may not be for you. The sillage is moderate but the longevity is pretty much all day on my skin and a little goes a long way with this one as well. I'm really happy to add this to my spring arsenal! :)

Update: I sprayed this on a scarf a few days ago and forgot about it but then I was wearing it today and wondered what is that beautiful soapy scent ..and then I remembered, it's this. Very much changed my mind about it now.. I went from meh to love.. The patchouli cuts through the peony just perfectly and gives it a very clean fresh but delicate and feminine quality that is so pretty and addictive
