Angel Liqueur de Parfum 2009

It is such a shame that this perfume was a limited edition. I feel that in this era of thick gourmands and deep, fruity scents dominating the market this scent would have risen to the very top of the pack. To begin, I love the original Angel, the patchouli works so well with my skin chemistry and it comes off as warmed honey and deep chocolate with some bright bergamot keeping it from being 'dusty'. THIS ONE? In my opinion, this is a masterpiece. It is somehow more smoothly blended than the original but also more dense, more boozy and with both an amazing caramel note and tart cherries on my skin. In my mind I associate it with the holiday season, Old Fashioned's by a crackling fire with twinkling lights against a velvety, night sky. It is STRONG as well, as many below mention, one, maybe two sprays max and I can still smell this on my skin 10 hours later. I find this to be such a sexy fragrance, it makes ME feel sexy and confident. It feels very sensual, perhaps in part because of the cognac note? The barrel aging? Whatever it is, it is truly magical. As this was only sold in the 1.1 oz bottle (which is fine, as again, this is a powerhouse fragrance!) I still only pull it out in December to enjoy. My little bottle is sadly low on juice and after reading about so very many fakes being sold I am not sure I would risk trying to buy another. The sheer genius behind this fragrance is mind boggling. In a market currently flooded with so many scents claiming 'boozy' and 'gourmand' in the same breath, this is by far the superior one.

I took a huge chance purchasing this because regular Angel does not work at all with my body chemistry. I was so happy I did, though, because Angel Liqueur de Parfum doesn't burn off quickly and leave the same heavy oily fragrance that Angel leaves on my skin. I am delighted! On first spray, Angel Liqueur smells like honey, brandy or cognac, red berries and sweet flowers. After about an hour, the scent mellows and the base notes come to the forefront: patchouli (not too much in this version), amber, vanilla, cocoa, and something powdery. Perhaps there is a bit of orris root in this mélange? The brandy and honey notes linger. Angel Liqueur is warm and expressive and could be appropriate for any woman who is confident and outgoing. This fragrance reminds me of winter holidays, but I do feel that it will also work in spring and autumn. I think it might be overwhelming in summer heat. Sillage is excellent and on me, two sprays and the scent lasts all day. I'm so happy that I can finally join the Angel-lover crowd. This one works for me.

I have a tiny bottle of original "Angel", and though I always loved the smell of it on other people, on me it smelled atrocious! So, when I saw a small bottle of this on sale online, and blind bought it (based on the reviews). Oh happy day, THIS is my "Angel"!! Thank-you, other reviewers, for not steering me wrong! :) The patchouli is deep, rich, chocolaty, and earthy (very similar to how it presents in the "Muse" pair), and it's got a glorious sweetness on top. I find it a perfect level of sweetness, but I like gourmand fragrances, so others might find it too much. I find that I get about 6-7 hours of wear out of this fragrance, before I can no longer smell it (even nose-to-skin). I find that I haven't been able to stop sniffing my arm since I sprayed it on. (Word of caution: it could be very loud, so easy on the trigger!) While I wouldn't say this is a safe blind buy, if you enjoy "Muse" or the newest formulation of "Angel" (and you don't loathe patchouli!), you would probably enjoy this too.

Angel Liqueur is a woodier, tamer, less sweet alternative to Angel EDP. The opening has the same tangy red berries & sharp radioactive patchouli. On the opening this scent is also very peppery-spicy & woody. Quite lumberjackish & masculine actually. Over time the patchouli settles and becomes more cuddly blending quite well with caramel and more toned down berries. This version of Angel isn't as sweet and creamy but still recognizable as Angel. I always thought it was a more pared down version which embraces a darker truer patchouli scent. The final stage smells softly of chocotely warm patchouli. I get crazy amounts of compliments on this as I do with any Mugler scent. Good sillage although not room filling like the original EDP. The lasting power is actually rather short 3-4 hours The bottle is my favorite of my whole collection. It's to die for pretty but scent wise overall I think I prefer regular Angel EDP as its creamier with a more dynamic development

I'm from Serbia and during the 90's (when Angel was popular), my family (my mom, granny and I) didn't have easy living, if I can express myself like that. Those were difficult times, when you barley had money for food supplies alone something like perfume. And my mother always loved Angel. She even had a bunch of replicas of it. Anyway, times have changed, those miserable years are behind us, and i gave this little star bottle to my mother as a present :DDDD Her first real Angel. Well, not classic Angel, but something like it, only better ( in my opinion :D) Wow I can't describe her happiness, my happiness... I was so proud of myself that i could afford to give her this, and very proud of her because she managed to pull us out of that misery. That is why Angel is special to me, I don't have to love it but I do, because it reminds me of my mother. And this particularly little angel is devilishly chocolate :)

I have been dreaming of this flanker for over a decade. I was only 20 years old when I was introduced to the whole Angel range via a nice-sized sample of the Liqueur at the department store. It drove men wild and turned heads when I wore it out, and you only needed a few drops. I went back to purchase it but it was already sold out. Damn, falling for a limited edition flanker hurts. I've tried regular Angel since then but it just doesn't work with my chemistry as well. I know it's a notorious patchouli bomb, but the Liqueur flanker from 2009 the patchouli blended much more on me into a smoother, sweeter scent. I remember trying to find some for resale on a certain auction site but it was sadly counterfeit. I've moved on now but every year I hope the new limited flanker might be produced like this one again.

Angel Liqueur de Parfum feels decidedly much more rounded and fluid than the original Angel. The patchouli doesn't bite at the onset. Instead, it's wrapped in the swirl of honey, caramel, and the deep, boozy fruitiness and woodsiness of cognac. The fragrance does have a sort of aged extrait feeling. While the original Angel offers a big kiss of the surprising contrast of shrill patchouli and sweet dark chocolate and caramel, Liqueur de Parfum teases with a deep and irresistible gaze. The sillage is moderate and the longevity is more than 12 hours. I find Liqueur de Parfum a very successful flanker, as it manages to offer a more full-bodied and elegant take on the theme, while retaining the key elements of the original Angel. I'd highly recommend it, even to those who are not necessarily fan of Angel.

I am a huge Mugler lover, all the perfumes in the line work on me quite well. To wear this one, I think you have to be a patchouli lover and not over spray. Three sprays is too much. I own and have worn the original Angel since it's release in the early 90's, have all of the body products too. I love both this version (LdP) and the original; I'd say this has the original Angel DNA but it is smoother and refined, with a sweet-ish booziness without being so fruit-forward. The bottle is adorable, sillage and projection are great. I only apply one spritz and it's perfect. For the folks who are choking on this, three sprays is 'TOO' much. I don't want the inhabitants from Mars (if they exist) to be able to smell me.

I just recieved this on Christmas Eve and have been wearing it for many days and I hadn't planned to try this one but,stumbled across it as a BONUS in search of Alien Liqueur and Pure Malt !! That said ,I really wanted to like this one but,for me its just OK.Granted,I've never tried the classical Angel and cannot compare the two. Something keeps telling me to wear it again and again ,but it never quite does it for me ,just barely missing the mark.As soon as it touches my skin I feel a bit breathless,then in an instant I start to get that joy that comes with a favorite scent,but,poof ! The good feeling is gone and replaced with sugary chemicals and as I wait for the drydown there is little improvement .

This smells a lot like the original Angel, but somehow I find it more wearable. I mean, I like both versions, so of course I like this one, but I think it's just got a nice, subtle boozy note and it feels less "harsh", if that makes sense. To be honest, I have noticed that I actually like Thierry Mugler's flankers more than the originals. For example, I prefer Alien Essence Absolue and Liqueur de Parfum to the original, I prefer Womanity Taste of Fragrance, and I prefer Angel Taste of Fragrance and Liqueur de Parfum. Go figure. They aren't THAT different, but they are noticeably more wearable, if that makes sense.

Absolutely love this scent! Warm, soft, brandy, mild flowery scent. In the past I wore the regular Angel perfume and body cream but since trying this I don't like the regular Angel scent. A friend of mine can't stand Angel but loves this one. Much more powdery dark notes. After reading all the other reviews we seem to be the only people who feel this way. However I do agree with everyone else that it is WAY too expensive especially since this scent does not stay on me more than a few hours :( With that said I will probably buy it again if the opportunity arrives :)

So...I'm in love. I said the same in my Youtube review. This is everything angel is with drops of sexy smooth gorgeousness added in. Imagine angel, but thicker (in a good way) woodsier, smoother and more sultry. This stuff is liquid pleasure. I MUCH prefer this to the original Angel and have made sure I have stocked up good and proper! This one is much calmer on the patchouli and amped up with gorgeous smooth cherry wood and slightly boozy notes. Sex appeal, addictive and it's got me hooked. HEAVEN! :)

To me this smells EXACTLY like regular angel... I dont see the difference??? I'm sad, I was hoping for a warm liquery smell EDIT - over time I've noticed a SLIGHT difference from angel. Something warmer, more powdery... less patchouli Anyone who has tried both this and Angel Taste of Fragrance - is there a big enough difference to warrant buying taste of fragrance? I'm very tempted to blind buy, as there's nowhere around here that I can test it =(

So far, this is my most favorite Angel flanker. I find this "intoxicating-ly" wonderful. I do get the original Angel DNA...but it is smooooothed out perfectly IMO, and yes, I do smell a "tropical" sweet vibe with this,as well as a sweet-ish booziness. They only released this in the 1.3 (?) oz size.....damn !! I would like a bigger bottle of this one. Sillage and projection,so far, is great. A boozey fruitchouli...IMO. A big big LOVE !!

19. January 2011 This one is even better than the original Angel, but way too expensive. I have to save a bit to buy this one. But the scent is simply gorgeous!! if you ́re a fan of Angel this is a must have!!! The original Angel is my signature but this one is simply perfect creation! The sharpness and dusty smell is gone here and smell of cognac is irresistible!

Most predominant note ...a strong honey scent.... then the warmth of liquor...congnac perhaps? and a hint of coffee.. I think this version of ANGEL is much softer... Mellow and yes...as some have stated...much "More Elegant" than the original. well worth the price...Get it! you'll be pleased you did ..and be enchanted by this scent as I am.

To my nose, it's like Angel, but with a noticeable brandy note that also has subtle dried fruit notes; as well, this version is a tad more musky, with less coumarin and lily-of-the-valley. It's much "rounder", "smoother", and gourmand than original Angel in an after-dinner kind-of-way.... Glad I was able to find one.

Core of Angel, dark chocolate patchouli, secret musk, amber and charred caramel... an ensemble elevated by a magic liqueur. Something like an elixir de parfum or deeper. I give it 10 out of 10 for quality, elegance and passion from the perfumer. Lasting power is a given! It's Mugler!

The only difference I can detect on my skin between Angel Liqueur de Parfum and Angel is that Liqueur de Parfum is a little lighter on patchouli and more emphasis on the dark chocolate. Which is fine with me because I like it. I was told it smells like powdery chocolate on me.

Angel all glammed up and dipped in cogniac honey, drizzeled in earthy dark chocolate.. biting into the sweetest ripe fruits that are dripping with sensual syrup. Erotic in the typical voluptuous Angel manner..but this time deeper, darker, sexier. Perfection.
