Angel New Star

At first spray I get a vegetal and dark scent, slightly sweet, like soil after a rain shower. This is clearly patchouli, but there is a strong influence from cassis and spices. The patchouli here is dry and earthy, and has similarities with vetiver. Shortly afterward, behind the patch, there is a sweet scent about. It is not entirely fruity or dessert-like but has facets of both; it is hazy and undefined. Along the drydown, the scents twist and morph. The patchouli lightens and melds with the sweet vanilla/sandal/chocolate into a more mellow oriental-gourmand accord. The spices, distinctly nutmeg and caraway now, become more intense. The fruity notes fade and give way to more foodie tones. The end result is a unique edible vanilla/chocolate based scent similar to Angel EDP but it carries a slightly darker tone. This is slightly different than the EDP in the tall star bottle. The main difference here is the lack of a strong fruity/chocolatey sweetness that is very evident in Angel EDP, but softer in New Star. New star is a touch more masculine (though still unisex) and feels dry and maybe a bit dirty.

This is not the original Angel. No coconut. No chocolate. No caramel. No powderiness. It really is a mixture of patchouli, citrus and red berries. I sense no vanilla but maybe my nose is not picking it up. It feels fresh but still heavy. I could see someone who loves patchoili wearing this in the summer. There is a bright fruity fresh green vibe going on. I cannot pull off Angel and many of it's flankers but I could enjoy smelling this on a strong and bold woman or man. It feels very masculine to me. The patchouli is so fierce that it feels herbal and medicinal. This bottle is very eye catching and sculpture-like. UPDATE: It is now going into the 9th hour and I have been experiencing the vanilla for a few hours now. It's a creamy and fluffy vanilla which seems more feminine. I actually LOVE the drydown. I would want this if it stayed like the drydown the entire time. It's how I expected Angel Sucree to be more like.

Summer test, humid, one spray to wrist, but used on rest of body. First impressions: Big scent right off the bat, loud- mind you it’s summer and has humid as all hell. It uses a mega phone to announce ‘cinnamon’ - though I’m using vague memory here, it’s not as heavy as ‘Angel’. I guess the other notes are supporting, I get what I think is cinnamon with the lemony type edge it naturally has, there’s a warmth, seems heavy and rich, this doesn’t feel sweet, though I suspect it is. ages ago I tried the angel in the original star type angel bottle and that one blew my socks off, and man was it headachey (silly self I had angel in one wrist and alien on the other wrist, duh headache). This new star (which has a misleading label by the way, for the life of me it was hard to find and match what the label said to which fragrance name - had to see it rotated). The mid to dry down: was nicer, warm, sweetly spiced, whafty -it stuck to my clothes a bit, not as heavy duty after all - not like original angel. I quite like it but don’t feel oh my I’m in love. I don’t think I could get through a big bottle personally just due to other genres I use more. Interesting points: According to this page the notes are bergamot, red berries, vanilla, patchouli. Ok, then it’s must be bergamot and patchouli for me right up front, the berries and vanilla might be back up for warmth and sweetness (not gourmand). Accords (on me) patch, spicey, citrus &vanilla, then dries to warm spicey, earthy, and vanilla stays with it. This isn’t dirty but almost could be, I was a bit iffy as I am with all these angels -sweat smell, it didn’t show up but personally I need to try this scent (and all the angels type flankers) in multiple seasons

I’m very confused by the notes. Literally in the promotional photo there is cotton candy, coconut & tonka beans. None of these appear in the notes area. This is very frustrating

Not a new fragrance. This is the new galactic star, which is the original Angel in a 75ml bottle.
