Mugler Aura This is gorgeous! Idk why this was so polarizing and even downright hated when it came out. It’s strong and heady like all Muglers of course-if you don’t want that, avoid this house. But it’s not at ALL as polarizing or challenging as Angel, or even Alien. Maybe it’s just me idk. There is a slight camphorous note which may be challenging to some I guess but I personally LOVE camphorous notes and I LOVE it here. It’s quite subtle. Maybe moreso than the tuberose in Dior’s Poison (vintage at least) but not on the level of SL’s Tubereuse Criminelle. To me, it’s perfectly done and absolutely BELONGS here and is as quintessential to the fragrance as the solar note is to Alien or the chocolatey patchouli in Angel or the salt in Womanity. This is kind of Mugler’s thing for their flagship frags, putting a discordant note as a main feature paired with a more common perfumery note but turned up to 11 (like the jasmine in Alien, caramel/sweets-or arguably it’s the reverse and the patch is the standard note turned way up-in Angel, and the fig in Womanity). This mentholy/camphorous note is the exact perfect fit for the syrupy sweet vanilla and greens in this perfume. It’s definitely on the very sweet side but that being said the camphorous notes are exactly what keeps this from being anything like LVEB or any of the millions of other total sugar-bombs out there. This is very sweet but it’s deep and complex and mature and not at all candy-like or gourmand. Although they are certainly not dupes, if there’s one fragrance that this really reminds me of it’s Xerjoff’s La Tosca, which I adore. La Tosca is fresher, lighter, and less sweet, but they share a lot of the same elements. They both have a mentholy/camphorous accord though in LT it comes from eucalyptus, they both have a sweet grapiness to them but the grapiness is turned WAY up in LT whereas it’s subtle in Aura. They’re both sweet but LT less so. LT is for the day, this is better for night. Also, LT has a very strong cashmeran drydown. This doesn’t. This is like a nighttime or winter version of LT actually. I can’t believe I waited THIS long to try it, all just because of a bunch of negative reviews. I need to stop listening to reviews so much! Lol I say as I’m writing one :P Maybe just the negative ones ;) And even then I ended up finally trying it by total chance; not even on purpose! I just got a surprise free sample in one of my other orders haha. Honestly I probably never would’ve seeked (suck? Idk) out a sample intentionally, and what a shame that would’ve been because this is RIGHT up my alley!! If you like perfumes such as Dior Poison, Xerjoff La Tosca, Mugler Alien Essence Absolue, Mugler Alien edp, Armani Privé Rouge Malachite, Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle and Sarrasins, and Cacharel LouLou, you will most likely LOVE this. It feels big and glamorous and dark purple. Though dark emerald green like the bottle is a great fit too, just like how Dior Poison comes in a deep purple bottle but also a deep emerald green box! I will definitely be getting a bottle of this asap. Total love. Lastly I must say that I respectfully disagree with the reviewer below me; I think that the bottle and marketing campaign for this fragrance suit the scent PERFECTLY. Mugler imo is almost unmatched when it comes to making the scent, bottle, and marketing very congruous despite being totally unique, and this imo is no exception at all. I can’t picture it in a plain clear rectangular bottle, that would be so boring and doing this scent a total disservice! And I think it would sell much worse, as people would be expecting a safe boring office scent, which this is most definitely not.

What's with all the negative vibes, people? Life is too short to be wet blankets! Anyway, this perfume does not deserve all these negativity. Why? Well, first of all, I am a person who does not have a proclivity for green fragrances. I never own any fougere or the so-called plant fragrances. I have always thought that green fragrances are at the bottom of my repertoire. I am a gourmand and white floral lover, btw. Fragrances with vetiver, lavender, and bergamot are never my cup of tea (even tea-based fragrances! But everything changed when (the fire nation attacked! rofl) I met Mugler Aura. Man alive, this green bottle is amazing! There is certainly vanilla in it; thus, the gourmand legacy of Mugler continued, but it isn't the run-of-the-mill vanilla you get to smell in most fragrances. And the ointment smell? Clinic smell? Mouthwash smell? Cough syrup smell? Excuse me, people. I have worked in a hospital all my life and I have never smelt anything like this in one of the topical creams I apply on my patients. If there was one, I would have stored and made it as my moisturizer. Mouthwash (Listerine) smell? I have pretty much used (even drank! lol) all the flavors Listerine and Asting-o-sol have to offer, but I have never smelt one like Aura. People here are too exaggerated. As for having the cough syrup smell, I would agree in the tiniest sense of it. Like a piece of the minutest dust on earth, I would agree. Maybe because it was purposely concocted that way, right? Come on, people! This is Mugler with the capital M. It isn't really for typical Muggles (pun intended! wink). It is metaphysical! Mugler has been known to design clothes and formulate fragrances with (at least one) strange notes. Like the "cat piss" and "body odor" smell from Angel, "indolic smell" for Alien, and the "fish/pond smell" from Womanity! Well, Aura does not allow herself to be exempted from the bynames! She's the "Cough syrup/ Vick's Formula 44 smell"! I was able to compare it with Marc Jacobs Decadence and they surely belong to the same blood line. They have that similar green vibe at the opening, but their dry down compartmentalizes them. Decadence has a very similar spicy dry down with Valentino Uomo while Mugler Aura has her own formula of vanillic-greenish sweetness to it (at least for me, okay?) Aura is a masterpiece of her own. Have you seen Moana? Aura is like Te Fiti! The mother earth who gives life to Motunui! Like Ta Fiti, she generates life and gives "greenery" to everyone who smells her. Her bearing character is what creates the sweet nuance which is amplified by the vanilla. I could not detect (yet) the white floral nuances; however, with the proper season, I am sure it would reveal itself. But this surely is not safe for blind buying. Get a sample first and spray it on your skin. I repeat, on your skin. Let it embrace your body heat and see how it envelopes you. It may be sour for some, but I am sure that the dry down will surely be majestically sweet for almost everyone! Aura has to be tamed. It isn't going to be the most friendliest goddess like Flowerbomb and Coco Mademoiselle. You have to earn its trust before it hugs you!

I’m so happy I’ve finally found this at an extremely great value (half of its retail price). I believe this was sold for around 130-150 USD but I got it second-hand for $50. Not to mention, this was in my wishlist for a whole year because of how beautiful the bottle is—it’s a work of art—and it’s also in my favorite color !! I thought getting a bottle was nearly impossible because it was sadly discontinued, thankfully, I found a tester bottle of the refillable 90ml, I’ve legit-checked it, and after thoroughly checking every inch of this bottle, I’m glad it’s authentic. I’ve heard people say Aura is a weird girl but I don’t get where y’all are coming from? I don’t think she’s weird at all (probably because I’m weird like her? lol jk). I think Aura is beautiful and otherworldly, she’s an intoxicating green goddess/vipress and with all my heart I freaking LOVE HER. As for the smell, I’ve read a lot of reviews, did all the research to validate my love for this one art-of-a-perfume—I won’t deny it, the only reason why I wanted her was because of the bottle (HELP) I’ve read licorice, wintergreen, green listerine, root beer, astringent, cica skincare, toners, herbal ointment, medicinal stuff, play doh, mint + vanilla ice cream, and all that. Y’all didn’t lie bc I TOTALLY SMELL ALL OF THESE. Weirdly enough, people also said she smells like pickles. It’s probably dill (which i also smell) but I promise u she is not a funky pickle 😭 Aura smells green on the initial spray, she smells fresh, leafy, herbal, oregano-y at first with just the slightest zest of bergamot, then the freshness starts to combine with the creamy, sweet, femme fatale-y vanilla. Surprisingly tho, something about the drydown gives it a masculine feel, tho it doesn’t have any lavender, something in this perfume smells like lavender and I believe that’s what makes it a bit masculine. She’s not green all throughout the stages, rather, she’s reddish violet in the drydown—as if you’ve entered a bioluminescent forest inhabited by aliens and out of nowhere the neon green plants start turning red because they sensed a nearby threat (scary) Well... If I had to visualize her as a dessert. She’s a vanilla ice cream made by aliens, topped with a mysterious glowing green elixir of intense lust, and served in a “sharp” looking emerald glass with intricate designs—she’s a sexy alien-like gourmand. Please, this is exactly how I wanted YSL Libre, Angel, and Philosykos to smell like. I’m glad I found that smell. As we all know, mugler’s fragrances are STRONG and can easily suffocate everyone in an elevator if you had too much sprays. I’ve heard people say 2 sprays of Angel is enough bc 3 sprays is a hate crime. Aura is the same, she’s hella strong, so the same rule applies. I tested this 3 hours ago and I can still smell it as if it was just freshly sprayed on my wrist, not to mention I did one single spray on my wrist and it seems like she doesn't want to leave 💀 2 sprays per day with 90ml hmm girl she's gonna be with me until I have my own family. OKAY THAT'S ALL I LOVE YOU AURA !!

Haven’t really smelled anything like this before.. it’s very unique and ethereal.. It takes me to another reality.. enchanting, full of life, and mysterious.. I just envision the most magical of places.. green smelling, but not grassy green more like fresh, un ripe fruit green with a beautiful dose of this dreamy and intoxicating vanilla.. which isn’t cloying at all I personally consider it gourmand-esque but more so as it dries down. The opening seems to retain most of the greenness.. which does linger juuuust enough throughout for me to not consider it a full blown gourmand, but it definitely has characteristics of one. A green gourmand perhaps? Anyways.. throw in some irresistible floral and woody notes as well (not necessarily distinguishable on their own, minus the additional creaminess provided by the sandalwood) and you've crafted this other world-like potion.. I will admit the rhubarb opening is ever so slightly intense to my nose upon initial spray but after about 5 minutes or so it starts to settle, and eventually, into one of the most heavenly dry downs where everything described above really gets to unfold It’s hard to fully articulate lol but if I could try my best.. imagine a seductive fairy-like creature that’s wandering a vast, luscious fantasy rainforest/jungle setting RIGHT after a rain shower and you happen to catch a whiff of her enticing and alluring aura as she flutters past you.. the light in the dark and damp forest.. quite an experience 💚💗✨🧚 Edit: omggg if Poison Ivy had a signature scent it would 100% be Aura DOWNN..literally the embodiment of that character.. I’m dangerously addicted. Nothing about this fragrance reads as harsh to me anymore.. I feel like I’ve fallen in love lol. Only downside is it doesn’t seem to last as long on me as it does others, but still a moderate 5 hours before it starts to become a skin scent. In my opinion, this fragrance paints an image in my mind as to how humans were always supposed to live.. free and one with nature. My signature scent 💋

Welcome to Mugler's most misunderstood masterpiece. Aura opens with a wildness that cuts clean, like a blade of green light slicing the air with confidence. A camphorous, mentholic, almost medicinal green flash that feels like cold chlorophyll dripping onto warm skin, a mint leaf crushed beneath alien glowing light. This is not citrus green, this is not herbal green. This is Mugler green - synthetic, humid and futuristic. Green with attitude, not manners. Once the green blast settles, Aura becomes lush and warm, like stepping deeper into a glowing rainforest. A creamy sensual vanilla orchid rises, with soft, glowing, resinous warm woods and a humid sweetness. The dry-down is green-vanilla skin, sensual, intimate, warm and glowing, like skin after tropical rain. The green never disappears, it becomes a glow, a pulse under your skin. There is comfort in Mugler's signature warmth, but it's a comfort with intent, not comfort with innocence. It's a warmth that seduces and possesses. It's comfort through fantasy, not familiarity. It fills the air, your body, your emotional space. It has texture and presence. It embraces you, wraps around you like velvet shadows, holding you in its gaze. It's very... Mugler. Where most fragrances do warmth as coziness, Mugler does warmth as a pulse. It feels alive, not passive. Aura is the woman who walks barefoot through a rainforest at night. her heartbeat glows in the dark, half-human, half-myth. She seduces without speaking. She could heal you or ruin you. She's primal, feminine, humid and slightly dangerous. Aura is not pretty, she's feral fantasy. She is seen, felt, experienced and remembered. Mugler Aura came to slay.

I’m absolutely in love with this perfume. It’s the most unique and intriguing fragrance I’ve ever smelled. If Aura were a color, it would be neon green. The green notes are so unusual that it smells like a magical, alien forest—something from another world. You know that glowing neon forest from the movie Avatar? To me, that’s exactly what Aura smells like. It does remind me of Vicks VapoRub, menthol gel, or Altoids mints, but it’s also very different from them. Aura is sweet, and the vanilla becomes more prominent after the icy opening fades. After about six hours on my skin, it even starts to remind me of gummy candy, with a very creamy nuance coming from the white florals (especially orange blossom) and the vanilla. Here on Fragrantica, they don’t list Tiger Liana and Wolfwood, two exclusive patented notes created by Mugler and used in Aura. That’s one of the reasons it’s so unique—there’s no other perfume that uses these ingredients. In fact, Tiger Liana is a medicinal Chinese root, and that’s where the mentholated effect comes from. There isn’t any mint in the note breakdown; it’s actually this root that creates that sensation. The performance is excellent. It lasts forever and projects like crazy, easily exceeding nine hours while making its presence known wherever it goes. On clothing, it lasts even longer—well over 24 hours. Despite its power, it can be worn year-round (just go easy on the sprays during summer). However, in my opinion, Aura is strictly a nighttime fragrance. It’s 100% nocturnal, and even the advertising campaign reflects that. It doesn’t suit sunshine at all—it’s far too mysterious to be worn during the day. In conclusion, this is an exotic fragrance with sweet, creamy, and mentholated notes. It’s a captivating nighttime scent that grabs attention from beginning to end. And it’s also great for people with allergies or rhinitis—the mentholated aspect even helps soothe my nose, haha!

I just heard it is about to be discontinued. I was lucky enough to get a notification of a forgotten 50ml bottle, so I got it instantly to stock up. This is still an absolutely magical perfume. It's my very first Mugler and was a blind buy. So infuriating that they tossed this treasure away. A perfume which doesn't really remind me of any memories, doesn't give me a certain lifestyle vibe. She's both cold and warm, fresh and sweet, calm and spicy, light and dark. I love Aura because I can project anything I want into her and not the other way around. Sometimes I need no strings attached, a clean slate without nostalgia. I have a lot of perfumes that don't exactly go with my favourite looks and I have the urge to dress up for them or find specific occasions to wear them. Aura's not like them, she doesn't ask me to dress more colourful, classy or pretty. Be it grunge, witchy, lazy and comfy, femme fatale, all dark uniform-ish look, she's my friend. Honestly she accepts and adapts to any of my preferred styles. She's strong, have a sillage and lasting power, especially on clothes (I smelled her on my once-worn-then-toss dress after a week) but ready to compromise. The only harsh opinion I have, is that this one is not the colourful, extra feminine, dressed in beige and light colours type of friend. The smell is green, but a darker green. Kinda like a picture taken in the forest but in the late afternoon or in the evening with shadows around. Plus, it's still the ultimate slytherin B vibe! I really hope there's gonna be a dupe for it because I'm unable to find any similar sweet-spicy-green frag.

I blind bought it cause i love the descriptions- forest nymph, fairy, herbal witch, poison ivy...just the descriptions im into. I blind bought 30 ml, loved it so much im gonna get the 90 ml too. Have to stock up cause its discontinued. I have never had a signature scent cause i get bored easily but i can totally see this becoming mine. Regarding the scent: im not a vanilla girly, i find it boring and too overdone but something about aura's bourbon vanilla is intoxicating. Its boozy, smooth, very well blended. I dont get the cough syrup, mint, herbal, insect spray smell ppl have been complaining bout. I love Mugler and his perfumes always mix well with my skin so i was not scared of blind buying it. On my skin, its really comforting, boozy and well blended. Ppl also complain about how strong it is but on my skin its not. Its very subtle on me but jst so enchanting. Reminds me abit of Cacharel Eden which I also love cause its giving green forest witch. I once got the EDT decant but i dont like it. Its too fresh and clean? I prefer scents that have depth and are polarizing. Most ppl seem to like the edt but i dont. Theres a similarity there btwn edp n edt but edp is more rounded, creamy and mysterious and edt is very fresh, peachy, clean, summery- maybe easier to wear, compliment getter- i got alot of compliments wearing it but I will still choose the edp. I didnt get the green notes like the wintergreen or the leaf notes, all i got was a boozy smooth vanilla. The edp also reminds me of BBW Vanilla Noel. So i layer the lotion with the edp. Works well.

this is so nice! I was hesitant to buy this but I finally took the plunge (thanks fragranceheads at the forum, much love 💖) this is the greatest vanilla ever. Sensuelle is a complete different thing, its darker to me. Aura is bright, I feel like It hugs my brain from the insides like an antidepressant. how can people hate this? its so inofensive to me, the medicinal opening fades away in an hour and what is left is such a comfy White fluffy vanillaaaaaa cloud, more airy than others. I don't get forest vibes from this, I Guess Aura agrees with my skin chem. Glad that we like each other 💖 edit: even I with a half Broken nose can tell yall people like to hate just for the sake of it. the ratio of dislikes is taking me out lmao this perfume is not even that offensive, I'd like to say something nice: it's pretty much a recreation of Dior Poison, I mean how can you hate this but looooove truth or dare, or Poison, or even Decadence. Make It make sense. Aura is definitely not a dupe for Hypnotic Poison but It has sadly replaced It on my wardrobe, I'm actively looking to offload my [not vintage] HP bottle... that liquorice/almond note is so terribly boring and uninteresting, Aura blows It off the water in all aspects, composition, vanilla, sweetness, longevity and sillage (not a feat honestly but Dior HP literally lasts five minutes on skin and it's gone)

Well what a surprise! I bought this perfume at Marshall's after the passing of Thierry Mugler, so winter of '22. Everything about the idea of this fragrance called out to me, but upon first spray, it was a disappointing no. Not something I enjoyed wearing on my body. It brought to mind chewing a betel leaf with areca nut, which I'd done in my adventurous youth at a local Indian restaurant along with the staff. Sharp and bitter, dark green juice, sap and a mind numbing buzz. Three of four times after that first encounter (I can't tell you why) I returned to this fragrance. Each time I tried to sniff out the sweet pear, vanilla, ylang-ylang and orange blossom, but to no avail. Currently I'm thinking of decluttering from my collection for the first time, and Aura was at the top of the list, with no reservations. And yet, two days ago, on a crisp bright spring day, I pulled it from the cabinet and sprayed it once more. Behold, there is the vanilla! The joyful, juicy pear! The light YY and orange blossom petals! Also a fine, soft sandalwood and the warmth of amber. I loved this so much, I sprayed it again at bedtime. It's like sitting on the loamy redwood forest floor in a shaft of sunlight filtered through the tree bows. Like attempting to meditate and finally reaching that humming frequency! I finally get it and I won't be letting this go.

I genuinely wonder that this might be the most bizarre and complex perfume I've ever owned. Strangely inexplicable scent. One that, to some degree, I eventually cannot smell at all. 🤦 My beliefs are never upheld when wearing this. I can smell the iris of Angel or Lempicka, I can smell the magic that is, Womanity, I can smell all and nothing at once. 🤦 Initially I felt that it smelled like a more complex version of Cavalli. Which is precisely what I said here, previously. 🤦 I have to believe that everybody smells this differently, as I've found no explanation for what I smell and can't compare my perception of it to anybody else's. My best friend smells dill. 🍃🌿 Mugler really outdid themselves here and I almost find it unwearable in its complexity and with the level of confusion that it brings. I have nothing to say, so why speak? 🗣️ This stuff drives me to the BRINK. While also being pretty chill. 🤦 I own two bottles. One original tester from the release time, one retail from a while later. The original bottle is woodier, more sour, a touch harsher. The latter is sweeter and more powdery. What's it with Mugler scents? I swear no two bottles are the same! First hint of sunshine 🌞 in the north of England today, I've busted out my AURA. 🙌

Smells like green poisonous plants and vanilla. Absolutely hypnotic and addictive smell. She comes off as slightly unsettling. She's not necessarily sweet at all times, but she draws you in like a siren. There are moments when she resembles a man's cologne, but she somehow morphs from green poison back to something that reminds me of taking a shower in a nice, clean, luxury spa. Some root beer notes and something medicinal that feels a little edgy and a little dangerous. Perhaps a walk alone through a humid forest in the morning before the sun starts beating down on you. There are animals waking up around you as you walk, and you are aware of them. The sillage is insane. I'd say one spray on the skin is more than enough. Very concentrated. "Sexy plants" is the best shortform description of this perfume. I don't get fairy vibes as much as I get the smell of walking through a forest or jungle that is thriving with life. I hate it when unique scents like these disappear. Aura Mugler will not appeal to everyone, but if you like her, you will like her very much. I understand people comparing this to a fragrance called "Eden" (which I have never smelled). It certainly has the smell of a forest or garden that we can only imagine.

Aura is an interesting and beautiful scent! Definitely green, with a slight tart note from the rhubarb but dries down to a lovely gentle and warm vanilla (but not a super sweet gourmand type, almost like a subtle creaminess). The green notes in this remind me a bit of this green liniment kind of like tiger balm that my neighbor used to use. While that may sound off-putting, it's quite nice and invigorating, and adds a bit of brightness without being aldehydic or citrusy, pairs well with the top notes. It's so lovely and unique! The EDT is one of my favorites for summer - a more sparkly version of the original. The green notes are the most prominent for me in the opening, but settles into a lovely sweet, slightly powdery and bright (in that green way if that makes sense) scent. I blind bought this and was surprised to know that this was quite a polarizing scent for some. Love it and the packaging, and appreciate that the bottles are refillable. If you're concerned about the sweetness and not a big fan of vanilla, try the EDT. Its much brighter, still green and interesting with that slight herbal note in the opening, but less of the vanilla imho.

I have a drawer of testers / samples that I accumulated during the height of the pandemic — I had lost my sense of taste and smell completely and when it returned it just wasn’t right. I guess that was the optimist in me: holding on to these testers hoping one day my olfaction would return to baseline, and that it did... it only took 6 years. Anyway. I’m sad to see this has been discontinued because it’s so fresh (smells like the essence of “freshness” but also a refreshing change from all the typical crowd-pleasing scents) and green. I don’t get any mint or wintergreen, which may be unfortunate because I love wintergreen, nor do I get any OG ChapStick/Blistex smells (again, sad because I always loved those growing up). I can confidently say, however, it reminds me almost exactly of Glasswater from Sucreabeille, which I rarely wear because I can see how polarizing of a scent it is. I usually just wear it at home.

I just got this and I’m in LOVE! I bought it blind, based solely on the reviews (many of which are polarizing), because it sounded like a scent I needed and my curiosity got the best of me. Plus, I do love most of the Mugler scents. It is indeed unusual, very odd, exotic and almost creepy, in the best way?? It reminds me a lot of Cacharel ‘Eden’ that I had in the late 90s, and I used to call that my ‘scary/amphibious’ perfume! Below is an old poem that I think totally describes the scent, in a story... “My mother said that I never should Play with the gypsies in the wood. The wood was dark, the grass was green; By came Sally with a tambourine. I went to sea - no ship to get across; I paid ten shillings for a blind white horse. I upped on his back and was off in a crack, Sally tell my mother I shall never come back..” That’s exactly what I thought of the moment I smelled this divine perfume.

You know what really grinds my gears? When the frag community is all like "man...everything smells the same...everything is generic...why cant they try something new..this is a copy of a copy of a copy..generic generic generic" ..then finally,you get something new and innovative with a wicked cool bottle ...aaaaaand they crap all over it. I will admit that the top note of rhubarb can be off putting but the dry down is sensual and as a guy...i would totally hit on you if you were to wear this. This is mugler's interpretation of Spring. This is a great scent. Im tired of chicks walking around smelling like candy and flowers...no wonder women are starting to scope out mens fragrances. Ppl who say that it makes you want to yack ...seriously? I see poison ivy wearing this. Really cool for a halloween scent. Scent 8 /10 Performance 10/10 Sillage 10/10 Bottle 12/10

Such a shame that it is discontinued. It is truly outstanding, unique fragrance with good sillage and longevity. It smells like forest, herbal medicine and wooden cabin. It perfectly matches forest witch archetype pre modern era. She is collecting herbs, healing people and animals, fully aware of her feminine powers,mysterious and strong. It is green, woody vanilla. Either you love it or hate it, there is no way between. Absolute masterpiece. On me smells a bit minty too which gives a nice twist to rhubarb leaf. It resembles a somewhat men's perfume that I had tester years ago (minus sweetness). The tester package was dark green with gold snake skin ornaments and came as dabber. The scent was more woodsy and masculine, but had similar DNA. If I recall well it was from Italian or French house. If anyone has a guess what it was please DM me. :)

to the reviewer who is just one review away from mine who said it smells almost like avon's far away... you're right. This has similarities with far away's ylang ylang note LOL I've been obsessed with this fragrance since the start of my fragrance collection journey but when i first sniffed this i immediately thought of far away but more high quality and with extra sweet and camphoric depth but i kept gaslighting myself that it isn't anything similar just to be fully satisfied. the thing is, far away is well-loved by my mom and she wears it regularly. When i smell aura, i feel like i'm wearing a fragment of her identity which isn't really bad but still odd on my part. I'm just grateful that this thing develops differently on my skin so it doesn't go overtly avon far away. a direct sniff from the nozzle tho? i get where ur coming from hahaha.

Huh, how come I didn't review Aura??? It's been my main for years, I've refilled that bottle more than any other perfume ever. Which reminds me I absolutely need to find a last refill somewhere online. It's green and sweet and mint and delicious. I've applied it under my hair, at the nape, while driving a convertible. I've applied it and rubbed it immediately after, for a smell even greater and stronger than usual. It seems this was the official application instruction, but it only reached some SAs, not the general public... I've used it in every imaginable setting and occasion, and every time I wanted to retire it, my little girl stole it and used it herself before I retrieved it in her room :D For someone with 100+ perfumes in rotation, having used this much Aura says it all. It's addictive when it smells good on the person.

If the phrase "sweet sharp wintergreen" fills you with horror, you will not enjoy the first half an hour or so of wearing this - the opening is like some kind of cold remedy that a hippy relative would mix up for you. If that sounds like something you could be into, though, this could become your favourite fragrance, because it develops into a warm, neroli and ylang-ylang centred, green and slightly woody all-encompassing aura (see what they did there?). If you are prone to migraines, you might have to either skip this one, or, like me, be very careful when you wear it - there's something in there that could make me have a very bad time if I'm already feeling a bit headachey. Likewise, do not inflict this on your coworkers unless you work outdoors - it's a bit of a beast.

There are certain fragrances that make me reflect, "They don't make them like this anymore." The longevity and sillage are exceptional—yes, contemporary perfumes can also be bold. The smooth notes, difficult to distinguish, create a complex, multifaceted composition: indeed, modern perfumes can achieve this too. The aura doesn't feel like a scent from the distant past but carries the craftsmanship of a time when perfumes were refined, without rushing into successive editions. What we have here is a green, slightly powdery, almost oppressive scent, which, incidentally, wraps around you, easily detectable throughout the day. The beautiful bottle promises pleasure and sensuality when worn. Feminine, sensual, dense perfumes. Simply beautiful.

I just lucked out so hard and snagged myself a backup 90ml bottle of this precious juice. I was so scared I would never be able to wear it again because my current bottle is already half empty and I couldn't bring myself to finish it off. It's the most beautiful scent, it smells like clean and crisp linens in a house right next to a dense pine forest, mixed with sharp rhubarb and succulent green accords. There's a vanilla in this that is completely different to everything else ive ever smelled, its not sweet, but its not savoury either - its icy, and it mixes in with the herbal green notes so perfectly. This scent reminds me of being freshly 18. I can't believe I used to quadruple/quintuple spray this to go to my shitty retail job 😭💚

I just don't understand how people claim that this perfume is not strong enough! Mu goodness, when I used to wear it one winter, all my workmates knew I came to work, only by the smell of my coat, hanging on the wall, that filled all the teachers' room. It was a bomb, a killer! Even after washing my coat, the smell lingered on it for weeks! I only sprayed 2-3 puffs and even the cleaner ladies knew I was in school, only from the trail that this perfume left behind, on the corridors and in the offices, at the toilet, everywhere. The opening for me was green apples with some mint, it was sour, green and fresh, herbal, but after a while it developed into a warm vanilla with lots of woodsy notes. It was a gem!

Update: I just got my second full-size sealed bottle for $60 insane???!!? I'm sure when mugler created this he thought of me<3 Man i fucking hate loreal and the audacity they have to discontinue this gorgeous piece of art, I recently owned one and IM SO LUCKY i even got my hands on it, she’s vanilla green minty yet warm woody and not the dry ass woodsy it’s dewy ugh it’s so comforting and magical, never smelled anything like it, from a distance away it’s slightly like DKNY be delicious but 10x stonger, darker and sexier and it lasts +24 hours!!! Whoever hates this scent probably has no taste I’m hunting for a second bottle, hand me all the auras in the world and i’m never getting sick of it.

i wished this is as sexy as the advert looks but it's not. it is mysterious but not on par with MJ Decadence (why do they have to discontinue that?!?!) I wore this in early October in Paris and I usually spray A LOT. between 8-10 sprays but it's gone very fast and i have no memories of Paris with this scent. but at night strolling Champ De Mars climbing the steps in between the trees and whiffed this on me - it was magical. I didnt get compliments from my BF so im guessing men (who r not into this hobby) will not gravitate twrds this type of scent. Definitely for someone eclectic, kitschy and unconventional but this safe and demure... like Emma Watson! just my 2 cents! ^_^

This fragrance sparkles. It makes me think of a forest nymph, carrying the scent of woods and leaves, her hair adorned with lilac-colored flowers. She is ethereal, something between earthly and unearthly; she dwells in a secret, otherworldly forest realm, where plants come alive with a phosphorescent glow. There's a soft humidity that makes me think of a misty waterfall where she goes to bathe. But she's not a dainty nymph — there's a sweetness in her, but also something savage, dangerous, like a feline lurking between the bushes. The sweetness isn't meant to allure; it's just who she is, only for herself, part of the wild forest, untamed and free.

What can I say about this perfume that has won my heart? I am completely in love with it! It has a feminine, elegant, sophisticated scent that exudes sensuality without being vulgar. A unique and unparalleled scent! I bought the miniature to test it out and I loved it. I couldn't stop smelling my arm because the scent is addictive, so I bought the 50ml and 30ml just in case. I don't find it sweet, I think it's a very fresh, green, well-balanced fragrance and the ylang-ylang note gives it a special touch! It has become my favorite! The projection and lasting power are extraordinary! It's that top of the line perfume that sticks to the bone!

I love me some Aura. The rhubarb, bergamot, orange blossom, green notes and vanilla smell so absolutely yummy in this perfume. I love everything about this fragrance from the top notes to the base notes. Mannn it smells so delicious on my skin. I love Mugler. He’s really in a class by himself when it comes to his perfumes and colognes. I can always tell his fragrances from everyone else’s and they’re always so very well done. Aura has great silage and projection and is indeed a crowd pleaser. I’m in love with this yummy, green fragrance. It’s beautiful enough to be worn in any season. I’m glad I have it in my collection.

This is such a weird scent. The first time I tried it, all I could smell was burning tires. Now it smells a bit like green gummy bears or jello? With some vanilla. I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so on the fence about whether I like something or not. I can’t imagine wearing it all day and feeling this disconcerted for hours. But it’s definitely an improvement from the burnt rubber smell so I will continue to retest now and then. Edit 2026: Crazy as it sounds, I suddenly find myself really enjoying the gummy bear candy, vanilla/tonka, rubber car tires combo. It’s an unusual aura for sure, but somehow it works.

I layered Hypnotic Poison with La Vie Est Belle Rose Extraordinaire, where she layered the OG Poison with Mancera Roses Vanille. I sprayed my Mugler Aura on my left hand and my experiment on my right hand. AND there is INDEED a striking similarity! Somehow there’s that bright green Aura top note, with even stronger sillage. The Rose Extraordinaire is definitely sitting on top though. But this was a cool experiment to try, especially if you don’t have the original Aura.

To me I smell rhubarb, bergamot & orange blossom the most. The amount of ‘woody’ notes in this put me off for so long. I’m kinda sad I waited so long to try it. I get hints of vanilla every now and then and some kind of woody aspect but not to the extent I expected which brings me joy. Part of the dry down smells a bit like intense to me but not too intense for it to be overpowering. My partner has just complimented how I smell and his sense of smell is close to non existent after having Covid years ago. I’m really enjoying this fragrance today on a colder winter/spring morning in the UK.

Oh, a stunner. Something Poison Ivy would wear. It opens with a rather medicinal kick, almost camphorous, before softening into this enchanting blend of herbs and a sort of witchy, ethereal vanilla. Think forest fairy meets apothecary. It’s peculiar, but that’s exactly what I adore about it. The longevity is outstanding, and I do catch a whiff of that signature Mugler DNA, especially in the opening, which gives off faint echoes of Alien. But it soon turns into its own unique direction, it's such a pity this one has been discontinued.

Mugler's Aura was ahead of its time. Green vanilla fragrances have become more and more popular over the years so this is a hidden gem. The initial spray is quite medicinal and minty, but the dry down is nothing but a warm woody vanilla. It's one of the best evolutions of a scent that I've sniffed. Fantastic and unique. Sexy and long-lasting. I want nothing more than for Mugler to keep making these peculiar yet satisfying fragrances. Scents that make you stand out from the crowd. We desperately need more unique compositions!!!

'♉︎♎︎♓︎♐︎ for venus, neptune and jupiter girlies. heavy on taurus, libra and pisces okay, hear me out. this perfume smells like an evening in a little house by the sea – when mom would ask me to help dye the back of her hair with her bleach, and the scent of the ocean mixed with OSAGE ORANGE WOOD drifted in through the window. a scent that literally transported me 20 years back. it fits any weather and any mood. the fact that they discontinued it is a crime. as always, they only take the best things off our shelves. 🙃

Quite unique... Aura is a sharp, green—almost fluorescent—fragrance with notes of wild liana, pungent rhubarb, and a very dense, medicinal vanilla (reminiscent of syrup or the plastic of new dolls). Visually, it evokes an alien rainforest or a witch's magic potion bubbling in a cauldron. Remember the film Ferngully: The Last Rainforest? This is what Crysta would wear. Fairies in a forest, green, sweet, magical. 🌱🧚 I can’t describe it, it’s unusual but comforting and lush. A green vanilla, deeply unusual, warm but lush, deep but green and bright in some ways. It’s a true dichotomy of a perfume. Also, this stuff is potent. I have one spray on clothing and it’s all I can smell. I utterly adore it. Lasting power is intense. All day into the next.

I sadly cant find a full bottle, so I bought 20ml decant. I smelled it in 2019. and I vividly remember that it smelled like a drunken earthy plum and green, warm creamy vanilla that lasts so looong. It was similar to MJ Decadence in my opinion. Years after, many perfumes behind me - I still smell a drunken plum with same earthy touch and creamy ylang vanilla. Stunning! Mugler was IT. This was niche quality, a touch of other-worldly always. Hot!

This one absolutely grew on me. At first, it was like a punch in the gut, very strong, very green, very unusual. I did not like it, but kept going back to it because it was so interesting that I tried to understand and smell it more and more. I did not feel like it suited me so I only wore it at home and slowely but surely I started to love it. I had to buy it and now I proudly wear it outside too. It became one of my favourites.

This stuff is made for fairies and sexy charming witches to wear. The most unique & enigmatic fragrance I've ever smelled, it captured me from the first sniff. Very green, like a damp green rainforest, but sweet at the same time thanks to the heavy dose of vanilla, with a nuclear performance. This perfume encapsulates Thiery Mugler's unique and daring creations before the acquisition of L'Oreal. P.S: not a safe blind buy at all.

The bottle makes me think of Maleficent for some reason.. My first real love in perfume was Colors de Benetton (original) and this is on the list of similar perfumes so i just blind bought both the edt (1st on the list) and a refill bottle of this that is still available hoping they will be at least reminiscent. Edit; This one was much closer than the edt although that one is 1st on the reminds me list. This smells fantastic!

got a partial of this on ebay and it was one of my first true loves and started my obsession with all things green. this is one that i regularly get compliments on, very wearable and lasts for hours. I like this in the spring and fall - the coumerin gives it a wonderful depth but i wouldn't want to smell it in the hot summer, when i am always trying to keep the smells of sweat and garbage at bay. 5/5, she will be missed.

Probably my favourite fragrance for an evening occasions. I could recognize it almost everywhere. It's very different from the typical perfumes I smell on a daily basis. It really has its own vibe and of course aura. Maybe the thing I connect with it is the green notes, like from a tropical forest. Deep womanity it boost female energy and a soul of the wild woman ready to seduce and to be seduced, sexy and unforgettable.

I wish this was still available. It was the perfect sweet, interesting green fragrance ever. I am usually not a fan of rhubarb in perfume but this was made so well. The development of this scent on my skin was a great journey and I enjoyed every bit of it. I have never smelled anything like it and I am always keeping my eyes open for a bottle or a good dupe but so far I am only remembering this lovely and unique scent.

I read where someone said that this is what Arwen smells like, and that describes this perfectly. It’s like walking deep within an old growth forest in the spring or summer. Mossy, green, a little woody, but there are flowers nearby. I adore this fragrance but I can *definitely* see how it wouldn’t be for everyone. If you’re a bit witchy, especially a green or garden witch, you’ll probably love it.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream, enjoyed outside in the forest! I am not complaining about interpreting this fragrance this way! I have the Mugler body lotion, but have never found a bottle in store. So I picked-up the Aura dupe oil from OilPerfumery to wear with it. I'll definitely be looking for the Aura by Mugler bottle to pair with my lotion. This is so special!

Strong and medicinal opening, settling down into a herby, fruity, colourful vanilla. It requires a certain mood and environment. I think the way it was marketed and the way the bottle is designed made people think of it as strange and poisonous. Try to picture it in a rectangular, minimalistic bottle, that makes it much more wearable (less fun, though)!

What a gem!! Sour, sweet and woody at the same time. On my skin smells a little like vanilla and pine. Yet, really different, really nice, really well executed. Has the Mugler charm, yet very different from all done before by the brand. Definitely a new pillar. Bottle not really all that great in reality, quite cheap looking. But the juice is so good!

I love this unique, green vanilla. The top or green notes may definitely confuse some or have annotations to bug spray , be off-putting or what not, but to me these add a foresty , ethereal note to the fragrance.i loved this at first sniff and really excited to have it as the third Mugler in my collection together with Alien and Angel Nova ❤️

At the moment completely obsessed with this scent. I remberber smelling it when it first came out in 2017, I was intrigued but not convinced I liked it, it was so very different I was just confused by it's complexity. But it grew on my and now I'm trying to chase a few back up bottles before they become unaffordable since discontinuation.
