Eau de Star

When I think of a beautiful watermelon fragrance, I think of Mugler's Eau de Star. When I tested it back in 2007 I didn’t anticipate falling in love with it. The combination of notes sounded like they would not be harmonious- patchouli and watermelon, as well as vanilla, mimosa and honey? Hmmm. My history with Mugler scents has been love/hate. Angel never worked on me. I enjoyed it on others, but on me it went murky and unpleasant as the patchouli turned metallic and heavy. Of course there is patchouli in Eau de Star- it’s the first note listed. I am not a fan of patchouli. But the other notes in Eau de Star work together to make this scent irresistible. That’s not evident at first spritz. Give it time. It’s worth the wait. I remember testing Eau de Star at Sephora shortly after it came out. I was attracted by the cute bottle with its shiny silver cap and the gimmicky, but fun, little star floating within it. Why not give it a chance? Too much patchouli, just as I suspected. Oh well. But the longer I wore it around the store, the more the fragrance developed, and my nose was soon anchored to my wrist. I knew I had to have a full bottle. I loved wearing Eau de Star. It was such a unique scent. It managed to be sweet yet fresh, fruity yet bright at the same time. The watermelon/patchouli/honey/vanilla with the touch of mimosa proved to be delightful. The earthiness of the patchouli (which recedes a few minutes after the initial spray) gave the watermelon depth, complementing its succulence. The honey, vanilla, and mimosa provided a silky fullness. The aquatic note kept the scent from becoming too heavy. But I remember Eau de Star most for its watermelon note. It made me smile. A spritz was instantly refreshing and uplifting. Eau de Star made me feel sophisticated, but in a buoyant way. The watermelon conjured an immediate "it's Summer!" feeling, and the other notes gave Eau de Star versatility. I wore it all year round. Eau de Star was my signature scent for a couple of years, and I always had at least one back up bottle in the refrigerator. I wished I had stockpiled much more of it. I’ve ordered Eau de Star off of EBay, and though the liquid has usually oxidized to differing depths of unpleasant yellow/brown, the fragrance is, after a bit of a rough opening, wearable. Still, I long for a “new” bottle- courtesy of a time machine, I guess. Fragrance X sells Eau de Star, and the reviews on the site seem predominantly positive. I’m tempted. I love this scent so much I contacted Mugler to let them know how wonderful a fragrance Eau de Star was/is, and that they should resume production on it, and oh by the way- do you have any bottles of it perhaps sitting forgotten on a shelf in a warehouse someplace? Their reply was the usual “thank you for liking our fragrance! Sorry it is no longer available. Why don’t you try these other Mugler scents?” I felt better that I had written to them, though it didn’t change anything. I may take a chance and order a bottle, as I do miss this unique, bright, uplifting, yummy watermelon fragrance. I had never smelled anything like it before finding it, and I have come across nothing like it since. It would be wonderful to wear it again, as it would transport me back to a very happy time in my life.

Eau de Star --A LOVE STORY Like @FutureKiwi and so many others, this perfume provoked a very emotional response from me from the very first sniff. I was at the launch, in the fall of 2007. This was quite the event and It was an immediate love. This perfume was promoted as the very first aquatic gourmand, a watery floral, with notes of melon, vanilla and Patchouli.I bought a bottle on the spot and it was all I wore, as nothing compared to it. This perfume became part of me in a way no other perfume ever has. It was such a visceral pleasure to put it on every morning. Then, in January 2008, 3 months after the launch, I had my bottle refilled..and I went back in the summer, just a few months later ...and IT WAS DISCONTINUED.🥺 Just like that ..GONE!... in just a matter of months!.. they had no answers as to why..gave me the impression the my Eau de Star was a limited edition or something. I was heartbroken. Truly. The ladies at the department store could see how upset I was.They found a miniature 'bottle-with-purchase' in a drawer and gave it to me to keep.. I kept it on my nightstand forever. I would just sniff it occasionally and feel sad. It became rancid, I still kept it...so very sad. Like remembering a breakup, not kidding. Missing it. Always missing it and wishing I could have it back. What I DIDN'T realize was that this perfume was only discontinued in the U.S. but still sold elsewhere, even as close as Canada -I live by the border..🤦 In 2020 during the pandemic, I was bored and shopping during the shutdown. I found it at Perfume.com!! I was shocked and bought a bottle...when it came I nearly cried when I smelled it-- and over the next 18 months, I bought 7 more bottles of it. Why they would ever discontinue it, I don't know, but I can no longer find it ANYWHERE but on eBay and the last 2 times I bought it from there, the scent was off. I will say, I am truly grateful to have had this 2nd chance with my Star..and it's hard to leave it behind.💔 You see, this is not just a perfume to me, this, weirdly, is a love story of sorts. I wear it when I need comforting, when I need to be brave. I had a breast cancer scare & I wore this in my hair for my surgery, to the delight of my nurses and my surgeon, who said I was the best smelling patient she ever had. I also wear it to celebrate special times..what else could I wear but my Star?.. I haven't felt like this about a perfume and never will again. It is still that way, always will be that way and I know when I get to my final bottle, I will replace that tiny rancid one, still on my nightstand, with the last empty bottle...and I will keep it there forever...✨💔

I bought a sample of this off eBay recently when I read that this was a good aquatic fragrance, and I've been on the hunt for the perfect one. At first spray, I thought this was weird and that I'd wasted my money. I put it in my drawer and left it for a couple of days. Tonight, I tried again, and now I cannot stop sniffing my wrist. At first spray, it smells like sweet and sticky and dirty watermelon. That patchouli makes it a little funky at first, and the mix of the two notes clashed for me the first time I tried this. On my second try tonight, though, it has become incredibly warm and sexy. The sweet watermelon has faded, and now all I can smell is a hot version of patchouli with a touch of honey. Maybe that heat I'm detecting is from the pepper others have mentioned, but there is a real warmth to this and it's a turn-on. It's quite masculine in a way, and if a guy wore this around me, I'd find it pretty alluring. And yet it works perfectly for a woman, too. I love this. I might spray more on myself before bed because I just want to keep smelling it. It even brings back an old memory for me. When I was a teenager, there was an old hippie shop at the beach where we used to go every summer. It was a little wooden hut with a thatched roof, sitting on the edge of a seafood restaurant's parking lot, and it was crammed full of incense and Grateful Dead t-shirts and little statues and tie-dye everything. The man who ran it was probably old enough to be my dad, but I had a huge crush on him and his surfer dude ponytail and visited the shop every year until it disappeared one summer. I was practically in tears when I found it empty. There was something so dreamy about that little hippie shack, and I'd always lose myself in all the incense smoke and trippy 1960s ambiance in there. It was the 1990s and I was heavily into the Dead and everything 1960s at the time, despite the fact that most of my friends were into NIN and the goth thing. So, visiting that little shop in the summertime was incredibly uplifting to my teenage Janis Joplin soul. This perfume is so reminiscent of those beach trips. It's got the oceanside head shop vibe, and now I just want to sit in the sand in July and listen to the Dead with a long-haired guy with a great tan. And somehow Eau de Star is still classy and sexy enough for an upscale date night in November with a dress code. This is the best and most fascinating and most fun use of patchouli I've experienced. Much like my favorite old shop, though, this has been discontinued, and that is unfortunate. This perfume is a gem.

I think I may have to hunt down a back up bottle of this one! There is a review below that states 'sea washed Angel', I totally agree with that!! I get a light aquatic in the initial spray followed by a surprisingly juicy watermelon. I don't get the Jolly Rancher Watermelon scent until way later in the dry down, I think that is the additional sweetness that I detect. On my skin the dry down is 'Angel lite', I still get the spicy honey, a more watery vanilla and some green patchouli plus a bit more sweetness, which I think is the watermelon. Rather than the dark chocolate, rich, spicy honey, and generally deep cozy feeling of OG Angel, it IS lighter, brighter and more of a warm weather fragrance. The longevity of this is rather wonderful for an EdT. I can spray in the morning and still smell it late in the afternoon. I have been layering this with a whipped watermelon body cream and it is delicious! I do not get the pink pepper mentioned in many of the reviews below except when I sniff the nozzle of my bottle, it does not translate onto my skin at all. It is a shame that this has been discontinued. I have both the 2019 and 2020 Angel eau Croisiere versions, the juicy mango and the milky fig, I like this one better than both of those. I bought my bottle on FragranceX, the liquid is deep gold rather than the original light blue color but it does not seem to have affected the scent profile for me at all. If you like Angel I highly recommend running a bottle down for summer wear! Edit ~ My husband says that he likes this one better than both eau Croisiere's BECAUSE it maintains the 'Angel' smell whereas the other two, beautiful they may be, are more of an interpretation of Angel rather than an actual perfume based on the notes of Angel. If you smelled either of them, according to my husband, without knowing they were an Angel flanker you would not know them as 'Angel'. Eau de Star is still Angel which is my signature scent and one my husband loves on me so it is Eau de Star for the summertime win!!

Let me preface this by saying that I have owned, worn and loved Angel. However, as the years go by, I admit that it becomes an increasingly more violent patchouli kick in the derriere. And even though everyone goes on and on about the original Angel being "too sweet" or even "cloying", on me it is an interesting and intense twist on patchouli, with very little sweetness. Seriously. I can see how Eau de Star bears a sort of "genetic" resemblance to Angel, but its NOT a linear "just vanilla and patchouli" scent, like the notes would indicate. Its quite fascinating to follow Eau de Star's development from Honey to Linden Blossoms, from Magnolia to Citrus overlaid on a very soft, non-screeching patchouli and vanilla base. Nowhere, and at no point in its development, does it smell like the sea or water on me. PR, below, notes its resemblance to "urine" - I do not smell urine at ALL - but I stopped and thought about how Honey, as a perfume note, can smell peepee-like to some people, which pretty much confirms that honey is an important, non-disclosed note. Eau de Star really is honeyed and pretty and far more feminine (and sweet!)than Angel. However, It is not an "OMG, How FABULOUS!!!!" perfume, and probably not second bottle worthy to me (I bought it ultra ultra cheaply at TJ Maxx), but it is far more accessible and less aggressive than Angel while still retaining that general olfactory vibe. UPDATE, a year and a half later: I have reached for this so often that I have to amend my "not second bottle worthy" statement. Eau de Star has joined my line-up of favorite summer scents. Over the last year and a half, I have come to love Eau de Star (in summer)and Chanel's gorgeous Coromandel (in winter) for their sweet patchouli loveliness, and to eschew my formerly beloved Angel and Angel Pivoine....

Words can't describe how much I loved it! I proudly owned 50ml bottle and enjoyed it till the very last drop. I miss it so much. There are only 3 perfumes that can make me super nostalgic, melancholic and emotional and this is one of them (the other two are Alien Liqueur and Dune). I'd never thought a fragrance can evoke such intense emotions. Eau de Star was something highly creative, stunning, unusual. It's design suggested Angel family membership and the fragrance itself too - there was a patchouli and this quirky quality to it. It's been way more of a weirdo than all the Angels altogether! The fragrance was cooling, literally cold as ice, salty-watery with strong watermelon note (but a fresh one, not sticky sweet, no "pink" quality at all). Patchouli strenghtened and sharpened the composition but it did not disturb (I can't wear Angel because of that patchouli burst but here it worked graciously even on me). Honey and vanilla were like a warm heart, surrounded by these icy cold, frozen layers. What a personality it had! I fell in love from a first sniff, I used it sparingly only during snowy winter, especially in December. It was my pre-Christmas fragrance, a heart-melting scent that I kept very private, never oversprayed. I knew people would not understand this gem. Once I've heard mean comments about the perfume and I prefered to protect my secret from the cruel world. Eau de Star was a misfit just like me so we matched together amazingly. How could they discontinue it? Sometimes I like to match a fragrance with music and guess what came to my mind when I was thinking of Eau de Star? Madonna's song from 1998, named 'Frozen'. This is it.

I read all of the conflicting reviews before buying this, and I'm glad I went with my gut and purchased it. I love Thierry Mugler's creations and have been wearing Angel (on and off of course) for 17 years! I've always wanted to buy another one of his fragrances, but never did until now. I thought all the descriptions of cucumber in this scent were maybe a bit exaggerated. But when I sprayed this on, I kept getting intense whiffs of cucumber every now and again. It's clean and refreshing, a new twist on the classic Angel. If I put my nose close to my wrist, I smell patchouli and vanilla very clearly. I can hardly stand patchouli, but Mugler is the only perfumer who can craft a patchouli perfume that I will actually love. This perfume smells more complex than the notes indicate. I do feel that Angel is much too strong to wear on a daily basis, but this Eau is the perfect compromise. It still smells like Angel, but a cleaner, lighter, crisper, simpler version for day use. The lasting time on the skin is great, considering it's an Eau. And the longer I wear the perfume, the more rich and exquisite it becomes! I smell hints of honey, sweet pineapple, soft cocoa, and creme anglaise. Honestly, it's really, really delicious. I daresay that I might like this better than the original :/ The bottle is stunning! The little star is actually a small plastic insert floating around inside with the liquid. It's so unique and worth owning just for the bottle. Eau de Star would be very easy to layer with the original Angel at night when going from the office to an evening event.

Blind bought a vintage bottle off eBay. I’ve been on a vintage angel bottle collecting kick lately. I don’t even like patchouli but I love Angel. Juice is getting green. Smells awesome. This flanker is mostly original Angel DNA, but softened and lighter, would be better tolerated for those who think angel is too strong. It isn’t a weaker perfume though, it projects well and lasts a long time. Not quite as long as original angel, but Eau de Star is practically eternal compared to many modern EDPs. I still have a pretty noticeable and projecting drydown the next morning after wearing this. Nice melon note, I don’t typically go for melon scents but this blends so nicely with Angel. At times it’s more watermelon, other times it smells a bit like cantaloupe. This is such a classic. I don’t think Angel or this flanker smell vintage. I still wear it often, especially in cooler cloudy rainy weather. It cuts through the cold and makes me happy. My husband loves it. I don’t get a dirty hippie patchouli at all in this. Patchouli is very soft and toned down. I mostly get an aromatic fruity fresh gourmand scent. As this dries down it seems to turn a bit powdery on me, almost suede-like. These vintage angel bottles and flankers are such treasures. I don’t find any issues with spoilage/loss of notes/performance in any I’ve gotten so far. Speaks to the quality of the production. I wish the new angel releases were this good!

I don't know why the review "cold" seems to be popping up every now and again. Yes, it's a slightly fresh fragrance but perhaps it's the supposed coldness of watermelon and a super dry white Cabernet sauvignon that reviewers have just associated this with? Not sure. On me it's the warmest, sexiest, tastiest, most lucious smell I've ever encountered. I remember getting a sample vial ages ago, probably when the perfume was first released. I used it going out and the amount of comments I got from mostly females was amazing. Never before and never since! I was lately perusing ebay for a new signature scent and remember my swift romance with Eau de Star. I quickly purchased and it soon arrived... I didn't want it to be true. Pepper, pepper, pepper :-( And that was all!!! What happened? devastated I read that some perfumes might change their fragrance by just laying around in a box for ages, so tried it again.... and OMG!!!!! This juvenile expression just nails it. Welcome back sexy me. A male friend got to smell and he said: This is how a naughty Audrey Hepburn would smell. Or better yet: like Claudia Cardinale. "You smell eatable but in a very carnal way" So yes. It seems that this little gourmand will be a staple for me. Love it so much.

Someone has just baked a fresh batch of homemade sugar doughnuts and has set them on a plate in the window to cool.Meanwhile, a lawnmower hums outdoors and the crisp,choking scent of green(patchouli) mingles with the vapors of sweetened dough. There is something very simple about Eud de Star yet it doesn't smell like anything else in my collection. The only scent it comes close to is my Molinard Vanille Patchouli(which seems obvious.) Eau de Star becomes Eau so sweet as it dries down...morphing into something more like a chocolate and ricotta filled crepe than simple doughnut (the ricotta reference is to an underlying sour creaminess that almost takes on that "yeasty" quality mentioned by others) And woven throughout from start to finish is a very faint trace of black licorice that seems to lessen in the drydown but when suggested, brings to mind an over all medicinal quality. Others have stated that the patchouli in Eau de Star is overwelming but from a patchouli lover's point of view, I do not find this one to be overbearing. I rarely pick this one to use from my collection but when I do, I remember that I do actually find it quite alluring. P.S. What's with the floater?

Just got my dab on 5ml sample today. Firstly I can smell it through the box, bubble wrap & packaging - not always a good sign! When I sniff from the bottle, it seems quite harsh & strong, a little like perfume that has 'gone off' or been around too long (you know that old lady's perfume that is obviously over 10yrs old!). I dab a little on my wrist, just a tiny amount. Whoa, bang, LOUD patch & something deep & fruity, I also get the minty vibe others have talked about.....hang on its turning into strong sweet but salty honey, I don't even know what to think....Giving it more time to settle lets the honey soften, the patchouli warm into your skin - now I'm enjoying this. I don't know about aquatic or watermelon, to me its a sweet patch with honey & a touch of mimosa. I think I like it, especially for nights out, will have to give it more time - it reminds me of the time I first smelled Gucci Rush which I grew to absolutely love. As for Angel I have never even tried it on my skin, some of my ex-colleagues overwore it sooooo much it completely put me off that one. I shall update in time......sniffing my wrists mmmm.......

There is something very comforting and retro about Eau de Star. Eau de Star opens with a burst of creamy, black pepper. The mimosa spins sugary, sweet, and softly just behind this pepper accord. The mimosa quickly bows out while this creamy black pepper turns very sharp and almost green. The watermelon rind/aqueous fruit note surface and battles with the sharp black pepper. Eventually the watermelon rind/aqueous fruit note are subdued by the black pepper only to be replaced with a tame honey note. Eau de Star is unquestionably unisex. Even with the abrasive, Thierry Mugler style black pepper note. I wouldn't question if this was a men's or women's fragrance. If I smelled it on a woman, I'd figured she was wearing a sweet and spicy perfume. If I smelled Eau de Star on a man, I'd figured he was wearing a spicy cologne with some sweetness. I just know that I completely enjoy Eau de Star each time I wear it. I will say that if this gets on your clothes, your clothes will smell like watermelon hard candy (not Jolly Rancher, just generic, cheap hard candy) the next day! Very sweet and cool smelling.

True to it's name, eau de star is certainly a more watery and fresh version of angel. You might almost wonder where the similarities even lie if you've never smelt this before judging by the notes. Let me tell you, I knew it as soon as I got it in the mail because the spicy smell was permeating the packaging. The spicy angel reminiscent patchouli is serious business and it's here to stay. Eau de star is a mouth watering juicy and spicy fun fragrance. The fragrance smells like a freshly cut watermelon, just dribbling out with that sweet stuff in every spray. The honey note that comes out in the middle adds a gooey almost too sweet element but works surprisingly well with the watery fruity notes. It dissolves well into the mixture just moments after it arrives. The patchouli and fruit ring loud and clear the whole fragrance, the honey sticks around too after it is introduced in the middle. I hardly smell mimose and vanilla, maybe barely detectable in little whiffs. Great fragrance for a summer night party

This is a weirdo and I like it. I haven't found anything that smell similar on the market yet. Truly unique. Aquatic, realistic watermelon, dirty mimosa. The patchouli just blends with the rest. It seems like a mess. It is but this is a great one. I don't recognize the vanilla at all which is a good thing. This is the perfume I reach when it's hot outside and need something playful that screams summer and don't feel for a typical scent. It's nice when worn in colder temperatures as well, I just prefer to keep it as a summer time scent. A small spray stays for hours, over-spraying is not recommended when applying this bomb. In fact you will regret it... I'm going through a 30ml bottle right now and I'm glad I bought a bigger 50 ml bottle as a replacement already. Even the bottle is cool. The floater inside looks like something straight out of the 80's. I blind bought that one and that was a huge success.

Now this is a weird one. I love it but sometimes I need a little effort to pull it off. It is certainly not summery at all, actually I wear it as my signature for winter/autumn days, so don't be fooled by the "eau" on its name, this is heavy. Anyway, "Star" is pleasant, comforting and it really makes you stand out. Warm but humid and somehow dewy, unique like everything Mugler put his name on. Once you spray it you have a sweet fruity-aquatic but also bitter and minty cloud engulfing you all around. It has pretty crazy sillage so make sure to strategically spray it once or twice, not more (not on spots like your chest, or any near your nose, otherwise you might get diabetes due to the honeyed-minty water from the firsts hours). That being said, "Eau de Star" is delighful once you have tamed the beast - maybe her mother's DNA inheritance? Also, unisex and compliment getter, as usual with this brand.

I just had to delete my previous review as my thoughts on this changed so dramatically. At first I merely liked it. But now I'm willing to place it as one of my favorite perfumes of all time. The patchouli is such a soft feeling mixed with the honey and watermelon notes, makes kind of a soft soapy scent on my skin. I'm absolutely obsessed with it. Like a clean sexy. If that makes sense and isn't weird. Not to mention how long it lasts. I sprayed it on my wrist once, around the afternoon, and by the time I woke up the next morning I could smell it in my hair and the slightest trace of it on my nightgown. I'm utterly heartbroken I can't find it anywhere, looking around online it seems there aren't any real bottles to be found. If this ever comes back (which I doubt it will), I'm definitely getting a bottle. Such a pretty frag...

Oh my... What can I say? This makes you glimmer as the title is so eloquently named. A star hovering perfectly in place above the universe, but this potent fragrance may easily turn a person into a gaseous, chemically hazardous falling star, if over applied. I stand without complaints. So very nice. Who would think, simply 2 base notes would accomplish such a fine fragrance? I sense other florals within this scent. Perhaps Jasmine? The world may never know, but know this, Thierry Mugler has yet to fail us. I find his love for comic book heroes very interesting. It gives his fragrances an adventurous side most people can appreciate. He also appears to have a thing for ice. If you'll take the time to observe his gorgeous bottles, they almost seem to be "elegantly frozen."

Un vrai parfum de rêve, il ne ressemble a aucun parfum, c'est pour cela que la maison Thierry Mugler détient toujours de bonnes place parmi les meilleur fragrances de l'année, déjà pour homme cette année (2016) elle est classé Preums. pour info, ce parfum est aussi pour homme, unisexe, il est très imposant, fort et a beaucoup de charisme, le parfum de caractère... des notes trop bien mélanger, entre la pastèque qui sent super bon, la vanille, le miel, le patchouli et les notes aquatiques et les fameuses mimosa, je jure que ce parfum est très original, il est aussi souvent apprécié par les amis et obtient des com. unique. Bref! ce parfum vous plaira certe, et a l'avoir parmi la collection

At first it smells exactly as the hot honeywater my mother used to give me when I was small and have a cold. It ́s really comforting and nice. Not long after there comes a herbal note... it smells a bit strange really... not bad, but unusual. The heart of this perfume is very much patcholi, but still not in a dominant or hippie way... soft, lingering and still familiar. Nice. The drydown is very yummie... caramell, vanilla and wood. Caramell without being sweet... it ́s actually very nice like a caramell fragrance for a more mature women. There isn ́t anything floralfruity about this so I absolutly recommend it if you want to try an unique fragrance that isn ́t to heavy or dominant.

A fragrance very close to the classic Angel, though slightly more luminous and gentler in terms of the original’s sensual, chocolatey patchouli. It works beautifully as a version for warmer weather, summer months, or situations where a more restrained presence feels appropriate for those around you. Yet despite the lighter concentration, this beautiful vintage possesses longevity and sillage that many modern fragrances could envy. It remains easily perceptible by the end of the day, while the moderate projection surrounds the wearer in a sensual veil for many hours. A beautiful bottle, a beautiful interpretation of the original, and a beautiful piece of history.

the lovely reviews describing this fragrance with such sentimentality... yes, i relate eau de star is incredibly, surprisingly nostalgic. it really smells like the best of the 2000s to me (like having to sign up for the mugler circle through the mail.... omg !!!). something about it reminds me of low-rise jeans and going to the mall. super y2k sexy juicy dirty breezy and honestly camp.... like you're eating a slice of colddd honey-drenched watermelon, on the beach but also on a pile of peat in the forest at the same time. so weird but so damn good - it's simply anomalous. iykyk. i feel so grateful to have this unicorn in my collection <3

A very hippie type of patchouli in this. Very different to the patchouli in OG Angel. The hippie patchouli with watermelon gives a nice combination of smoky and sweet. Would work for a beach holiday in Santa Cruz 😁. It’s an unusual fragrance and you’d have to spray lightly as I’m a little nervous this type of patchouli could be too much for others around you. This definitely isn’t your typical summer fragrance. It’s def not a light Angel as the patchouli is so full on in this. But the addition of the watermelon does give it some aquatics to make it suitable for warm weather. I find myself now craving the smokiness in this 🤤

Now that I am on to bottle number two I am really in love with this fragrance. I wear it to work or where ever the mood takes me, I don't find it over powering, I could not wear the original Angel to work for fear I would upset someone with the overpowering lingering fragrance cloud that seems to follow people (not myself as I don't notice it) who are wearing it around. Too bad I can only find it in a 50ml bottle. It not an overly common fragrance in Australia which is what makes it even more appealing I am always looking for something "different" not the everyday stuff you find in stores and pharmacies. TRY IT !

Honeyed spicy cucumbers by the ocean?! That’s how it hits my nose...It’s also powerful- projects like crazy and lasts. I fell in love. It’s the patchouli for me! Just bought a .8 Oz spray and it seems it’s disappearing. I’m always so late to the party. The combination of aquatic notes and sweet with patchouli just transports me! Totally unisex to my nose, and creates a delicious landscape of warmth and summer breeze that carries this in the air. I also liked Nilang but this feels more sheer and clear, a lighter, yet not weaker creation. This is a sweetness that I can handle with the watery cucumber-like notes.

Well I expected to be enveloped in the smell of patchouli and vanilla. Sadly, I thought it smelled like very bad feminine hygiene. I was looking for something for my Mom and happened upon this. She loves Angel and from reading the reviews I didnt think I could go wrong. Well I sprayed some on my hand and walked around the store. I let someone smell it and they made a face. The more I smelled it the more I was wanted to vomit. I cannot believe Thierry Mugler was behind this. I was thinking it was a bad bottle or something, but I smelled it again and WOW IT DIDNT CHANGE!!! Sorry, but a bomb

I finally got the perfume! Did any one know that the liquid is not blue but green? Not sure if this is right, but I'll get to how it smells. For a perfume of only 2 notes, it smells strong, green but woody green, not dewy green. The vanilla is definitely there, gently merged with with the patchouli, waiting for it's turn to resonate it's true potential. Don't let the bombshell effect/ first impression turn you away from this perfume, the scent will change into something alluring in 5/10 minutes. People around you will wonder what you are wearing! A beautiful light oriental. 10/10 10/10

This is a both strange and intriguing scent. Like all Muglers this doesn ́t cease to amaze me. Surprisingly strong watermelon. I also get the pepper that others write in their reviews. Sweet warm spicy honey, mouthwatering watermelon, water notes and a dirty patchouli like the one in the original angel dna. A scent that has turned from like to love over the months. Im glad I got my hands on two full bottles. Silage is a bit above average and longevity is long lasting. Color is golden and not blue as onn pictures. Love Muglers of this planet supernova creations.

I love everything about it and now that the weather is getting warmer I felt like it was time for a change. Eau De Star has the most realistic watermelon note I've ever smelled. It doesn't smell synthetic at all! But you really have to love patchouli in order to enjoy this fragrance, because it's heavy. Upon first reading the notes I was intrigued by the unusual pairings. Patchouli and Watermelon??? But it works and this is why I've become a huge fan of Mugler fragrances. Also it's labeled as a edt but it's almost beast mode. I love it! 🍉🍉

I have to agree with Aria-rose...Thierry Mugler has yet to fail us! His personal stories and influences are touching, the fragrances are devine and unique, the the bottles are one of a kind! He is by far my favorite perfume designer. Eau de Star is a gem of a fragrance. It reminds me of fresh water, and the vanilla and patchouli come together prefectly! It's no wonder that I love Eau de Star so much...I have always been a HUGE fan of both Patchouli and vanilla. This is a scent well suited for day, night, work, or play. :)

This one i had seen so many negative reviews but still went & bought this. This fragrance is different not many can or will wear it. I have been wearing this for the last 2 days & i'm impressed. Is it aquatic may be but a very different one, Has it got any resemblance to Angel probably u will smell it every now & then. The dry down is beautiful. Has got the same projection & longevity but some how it dies down suddenly at about 10hr mark. I would say this fragrance is a definite try.

Eau de Star smells similar to the original Angel but with a bit simpler, cleaner fragrance. It’s like Angel and Marc Jacob’s Daisy had some glorious love child. The patchouli and vanilla are there, but the complex gourmand ingredients have been substituted with honey, which gives it a really deep, creamy sweetness, and watermelon, which gives a certain ozonic freshness. So overall it’s a really sweet, fresh patchouli fragrance. I really like it.

Eau de Star is unpredictably nice. Who would have imagined that patchouli and watermelon could smell so good? The boozy and overbearing sweetness in Angel EDP is gone and replaced with watermelon. Amazingly, for such a delicate note, the watermelon is really prominent yet so very well balanced. If there is one thing we can trust Mugler for, it would be its battery life and projection. And it is no exception for Eau de Star. Love it! -AB-

I love this one. Dirty patch, watermelon, pepper?, aquatic accords, honey, vanilla, licquorice?...those are the notes my chemistry amplifies. This scent is so unique, like most Muglers. I've been asked by strangers "what are you wearing" more often than I can count. I love quirky scents for the most part, so this one was right up my street. The price point is great too. I need to buy some backup bottles actually. This is the good stuff.

This one is weird. I don't know whether I love it or hate it. The initial dousing is a little bit on the watery/weak side, then I get a burst of cucumber and then a lovely light sweetness. The staying power is very good. I don't get much vanilla or patchouli - the cucumber aroma is very pronounced. Then again, it could be my snozz malfunctioning. I'm still sitting on the fence with this one...

After I've sprayed myself, despite the humid weather, the powerful note of Patchouli and elegant Vanilla transformed into something on my skin that I could not put into words... Maybe my best purchase ever, despite the blind, quick buy factor, from Budapest's airport.The subtle Angel DNA with aquatic tones and a musky drydown became the perfect combination for winter 2009. Eau de Star was very appealing to men, offering me a bunch of compliments whenever wearing it. I was truly sad when it was discontinued, I would more than definitely buy it again.

This perfume smells so mothafreaking good! When I first spray it I smell a lot of patchouli which I love and then I smell mouth watering juicy watermelon. When it dries down, I'm left with a lovely warm sweet honey and vanilla with a hint of melon hanging around in the backround. If you don't like patchouli or warm fragrances you might dislike it.

I will always love eau de star's big sister angel but she can be an over bearing bitch after awhile...while little sister is sassy but has such a sweeter gentler caress. I love the watermelon and patchouli mix such a unique combination. This has to make a come back and not in the watered down weak version that have been showing up again lately.

Amazingly this smells so much like Revlon Head Over Heels. I just got a vintage bottle of Eau de Star and upon spraying it instantly hit me that it was familiar. HOH is very close if not quite as well-blended but certainly an affordable choice if you don't want to spend the money for Eau de Star. It's pleasant and fruity, fresh and feminine.

I'm in love with Eau de Star! I don't know what is so particular about this perfume (especially that i'm not a big fun of patchouli), but I just can't stop sniffing if from my wrist. The sillage and staying power are amaizing! It lasts on me for about 12h! UPDATE: it grew on me very fast actually. I'm in love with this fragrance now!

Don't get the weird, heavy pepper, unsummery type reviews. This like a very soft, sweet version of Angel. Not weird at all, very sensual. Like a feathery soft, fairy rather than an Angel. I would class this as a playful teasing scent of is she innocent or is she sexy? Reminds me of another perfume I have smelt before. Not sure what!

Here is a great combination of watermelon freshness with dark chocolate, and all this gluttony takes place on the beach, where the sun, air and water are our best friends. The main thing is not to apply too much, otherwise the watery freshness will seem like a caustic antifreeze, and your brain will swell.

thierry mugler fragrances are really a work of art! with just 2 notes, it smells so sophisticated and complex. and i also love how it smells different on every person. my brother also wears this one, and it smells bold and masculine on him, whereas on me it's soft, warm, and feminine. amazing! 10/10

Just like the review by Mystinguette, I get patch/watermelon/pepper...... mimosa/ honey/vanilla....anise...???.....sweet, with an edginess.... IMO..not super aquatic....???...but has a certain freshness. This is a great flanker for me. Very decent performance. A nice surprise !

On my skin, Eau de Star is a woody-aquatic fragrance. Because of that, I always pegged it for a summer scent, but today I had an urge to wear it and I'm surprised at how well it's working in the autumn weather! My appreciation of Eau de Star has advanced to a new level.

Lovely fresh Angel... Is really good for hot days whit moderate spritz. I get watermelow in first note but the drydown is honey/ patchouli green woody. Is a litlle bit masculine but delicious. The sillage is soft but stay long on skin. I love you Thierry Mugler!!!!!

i think the perfumes is more complex than just patchouli and vanilla. i get sweet vanilla milk with very faint aquatic hint on top. on the base i got sweet vanilla with soft patchouli. i love love love this one :) sileage is pretty good too :)

i LOVE this and i LOVE the weirdness that is Thierry Mugler - perfect perfumist for a misfit and 'weirdo' such as myself. This doesn't smell comparable to anything else, it smells like its own yummy self that doesn't require a label! <3

I looooove this one!! It reminds me of my childhood, I get really strong green associations with this. It is not a typical sweet oriental, it is very thick but very refreshing as well! One of my favorites of the Mugler line for sure!!
