Fantasquatic

So, I bought this at Jomashop and I'm not usually into watery fresh scents. (This was a blind buy.) But really love this MUGLER creation. This one is really complex and seriously long lasting. It's starts out with sharp, watery, marine notes, mixed with citrusy freshness..Very bracing, crisp and a bit biting. Refreshing.. But as time goes on, it mellows into this really lovely aguafloral, while still retaining it's watery nature..it smells like the colour aquamarine.. and it lasts. Hour 5 and I can still smell it on my skin and clothes, which I find amazing, as most watery citrus perfumes fade rather quickly. I layered it over a lime scented lotion I purchased from Beyond Scents, which I HIGHLY recommend. I have an entire wardrobe of Beyond Scents lotions and butters to pair with my frags.. lime works great with this one. I also think this fragrance is truly unisex... would love to smell this on a guy. It lasts longer than Replica's Sailing Day and not as abrasive. I would definitely recommend, if you like fresh scents. Even though I'm not that into them, I think this one is a winner. It might not be worth paying full price, but worth it, for the price I paid at Jomashop.

There are only a few fragrances that are like coke to a dog's nose. And this is one of them. Smelling it is extremely addictive. It's one of the most (if not the best) well-rounded aquatics that I've smelled. It's such a pity that it was discontinued. I love it so much that I'm about to buy one of the remaining bottles off ebay for double the original price, from a doubtful source. Please Mugler bring this one back!

I like fragrances that I can smell while wearing them. Fantasquatic is fleeting, and you might forget that you applied it after a short while. It's there, and reminders will occasionally waft from yonder, but it's quite anodyne and even doux. Yet when you inhale its full corpus, right after spritzing, there is salt...a somewhat sweet salt...and oil, like the oil of sea life - kelp, whales, diatoms - and it's all blown through driftwood, across wripples of sand, in full, midday sun. The idea is nascent and not fully formed, leaving a slighly synthetic or artificial impression, but it's sufficient to conjure your brackish fantasy - an ephemeral one, mirage-like, and you'll be left wanting more, wanting to recast the play, play it again, hoping for more depth or something new. The periodic reminders you'll catch hours later will evoke nostalgia over how it was, and not how it is.

Thankfully I bought a tester at Jomashop for $56. A cucumber, aquatic scent with slight powderiness in the background. Pleasant and safe to wear on a daily basis. A reviewer here stated that it reminds them of the cucumber dove soap and I can totally see that here. Unisex leaning slightly feminine. Performs intimate staying close to the skin. Not worth full retail price when you can get a similar scent profile for less with better performance. I forgot to mention that this is in the same cucumber, aquatic scent profile as Nautica Voyage. I'm not saying it's a dupe or clone but it falls in that same realm of familiarity.

It isn’t the aquatic that I was expecting. Surprisingly powdery.The cardamom and coriander are prominent. The citrus notes appear for a flash of a moment. The ‘sea note’ is there but very subtle. At first, it feels like a smoothie of random ingredients, a bit messy and confusing. But after 10-15 min it settles into a calm, fresh, green fragrance. It never projects like a monster, not even upon application. Longevity is about 6-8 hours. Could easily be a creation of Francis Kurdkjian in the same category as the squeaky clean perfumes like Aqua Universalis, Aqua Celestia, etc.

Yes, it's a blue scent. Yes, it's a marine scent. And no, it's not ordinary. I feel a distinct sea breeze, interwoven with hot sun rays. But I also feel the sand and the air when the sun sets behind the horizon. Fantasquatic is not just a simple marine fragrance. I feel the spirit of BLV floating on the surface of the sea. Someone wrote here that it is a man's version of Womanity. If I really wanted to create it, it would look exactly like this. . . and it can't be anything ordinary after all.

Juicy aquatic/aromatic scent. Green and citrusy mix with a bright lemon note and fresh aquatic accord. It smells very clean and uplifting, like a bed sheets air dried in the citrusy garden on close to the beach. It also has a bit of minty qualities, I believe it might be a coriander note. First impression: this is a fairly realistic type of salty and misty ocean water, only amped up. The salty sea aspect gets almost musky and is quite bold. It is further emboldened by a bit of a woody ambery base and a hint of spice which all pulls it in a slightly masculine direction. This is correctly called a unisex fragrance. It does smell a bit lotion-like, in that regard, and it is softened up, getting pulled slightly back to the feminine side. It is certainly unisex enough to be worn by women or men. A much more feminine smelling comparison of something similar is “Inis: The Energy of the Sea”. They are both very close in the misty aquatic aspect. Would I wear this on its own? Probably not, because it smells a bit too much like lotion, and it lacks the blueness that I like to help balance out a salty aquatic. I will probably layer it with a citrus fragrance, or with another aquatic fragrance.

This is Womanity without the fig... I came here to see if someone noticed and yes. Imagine a unisex fem leaning Oud Minerale if you’ve tried that one or a unisex blue salty fragrance with some florals in the background. The concept is great, if as a woman you ever wanted to spray yourself with Sauvage or Bleu, grab this. I don’t see any issues for a guy to smell like this. BTW as it dries down it smells exactly like Mancera Wave Musk. Also, it’s nuclear. I washed my hands twice.. it’s still there.

This is just a brief initial impression of this fragrance from a sample spray but from what I smelt, it's disappointing. I get a clash of synthetic salty sea notes, where muglar are obviously trying to follow the trend of marine rather than aquatic, and some sweet, vaguely spicy notes. It feels like they’ve taken notes that they think are on trend and just mixed them altogether but It's a bit of a synthetic mess to be honest, which doesn't blend well at all. A designer fragrance dressed up as niche, it just smells cheap to my nose. Muglar have also changed the presentation so gone are the nice presentation boxes, which have been replaced by standard cardboard boxes all the while the prices have gone up. I'm sure some will like this but it's not for me as it doesn't know what it's trying to be. I was excited to try this but it left me feeling meh! I hardly write any negative reviews so that says something in itself. There's nothing fantastic about this, just a completely wasted opportunity and not what I would expect from this line. One saving grace - I like the bottle!!!

== update== Omg, I was choosing my SOTD and I now know why this frag always had a familiar one to it— I’m pretty sure this is the less sweet, more salty citrus version of Womanity. Now, I know Womanity has its haters, but once it settles, I def can see how it’s related to Fantasquatic. Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? =========. This is my first impression review... This is my second frag from the Les Exceptions line. Unlike Oriental Express, which is my total MO, this one makes me pause and think. I definitely pick up the sweet citrus and saltiness on my skin. It’s really nice and unlike anything in my collection—- wait let me think about that... there is something familiar about it. It could be the saltiness combined with lemon, which is my fav fresh scent for after showering, before bed, or on my salad. There are two CK Summers (2017 and 2020) that might be comparable, but this one has a distinct heightened Something about it. Maybe it’s the quality or the trademark patchouli but there’s something there that is unique. I’m sure this review will make sense to potentially no one, but I really like it. I’m glad I bought it, and I don’t at all regret paying retail for it. It is new, unique and definitely a summer fragrance. 4th Wear Update: still loving the scent. I am especially desiring it on these rainy days. I’ve found that by hour five it’s a moderate skin scent.

Boring, bargain store, sales rack type of fragrance packaged in the Mugler name. Remove the name and this should cost no more than $20 USD. Sits close to the skin and lacks anything close to solid performance. This is just another generic summer fresh frag so save your money if you're looking for a fragrance that sparks intrigue with any kind of performance because this is not it. ✌🏾

This is my favourite one of this line...can't help but remember L'Eau 2 Kenzo pour Homme there...molecule is present for sure. It has a fantastic dry down...the opening is a bit citrusy and clashes...for some reason this fragrance feels like a mishmash of things.
