Fougere Furieuse

Ok: listen up, team This. Is. Incredible. I’ve a ton of fougere fragrances (Bois du Portugal, Patrick of Ireland, Lalique Pour Homme, Beau du Jour, etc) and this is DIFFERENT. It’s a BEAST, and I never say that. It smells great, projects, lasts, and it a stand out. It’s a modern Barber Shop. Not a FOUGERE fougere, if you know what I mean, because it’s replaced the lavender with blossom and geranium, but that’s what makes it incredible. It’s not trying to be Fougere Royale, but one thing others aren’t mentioning is the evolution. How it smells the first 30/45 min is not how it smells in 2 hours. It starts off almost sweet, like too sweet for an Aromatic Fougere, but the dry down is a clean and soapy Vetiver. I would say this is more of a “vetiver” fragrance than a “fougere” fragrance, but it’s dependent on what a Barbershop Scent means to you. It’s not your 1950’s scent, but it is a “New Fougere” if you moved into a more modern era, like Chanel Boy or Roja Scandal, where it has similar DNA, but you have to be ready for change. Soapy Clean Green I think it’s a solid 7.5/10, but I asked 3 discerning females I know their thoughts and they wouldn’t STFU about how I should wear this every day. One was using words like “OMFG SLAY, GORGEOUS, INCREDIBLE, HOW MUCH WAS THIS?!” So it’s now 10/10 and if you buy it and hate it I’ll buy it off you. You’ll thank me. Possibly owe me.

This smells so amazing. Even candy citrus like. Your gonna think this is nuts but it really reminds me of the candy skittles. For that reason alone I love it. It's citrusy sweet but then it has this powdery pixy sticks kinda scent mixing with the citrus that really makes it smell like skittles in the best possible way. Fougere is generally in men's fragrances but this smells so delightful it really can be unisex because it's so refreshing. I love this second to Oriental Express and then afterwards Cuir Imperial. There are some similar notes with this fragrance and Cuir Imperial on the dry down. A gorgeous fragrance that also reminds me of some of the new scents from the Mugler Men's cologne collection. I think men will be highly likely to love this. But I am a woman and I adore this fragrance and It reminds me of the new Kenneth Cole Energy fragrance. Complete any time of the year especially spring to summer fragrance.

Fougere Furieuse is hardly furious but it is quite delightful! A very unisex fougere and is quite female friendly. I love a fougere scent but usually feel like I smell too "dapper" and can't get comfortable but this just smells fresh and clean to me. It has a soft edge and the oakmoss is very smooth, it isn't a harsh at all. It has a slightly green quality to it but the geranium, bergamot and neroli keeps it really fresh and unisex but ever so slightly floral while the amber adds a bit of sexiness to it. Even a slightly powdery quality. Not much but it softens it just a tad. I just find this extremely pleasant to wear and is sort of a mood lifter. But ladies don't let the "fougere" part make you think it is a gentleman's fragrance...it isn't, it is completely unisex.

What a perfect accident. I went on the Mugler site to purchase Over the Musk and accidentally bought this. Yes, I went back for the Musk, but this to me is better. I'm a woman that loves a good fougere and this is perfectly unisex. It's slightly spicy, herbal and I love that it's a little bracing/aromatic. I feel like it radiates a chill and/or coolness off the skin and I notice it more as I'm walking around. I may have to get a spare as this is a total love for me.

This is a unisex earthy, herbal, fresh spicy scent that sits close to the skin. It's classy and versatile and I always get compliments when I wear it. I wouldn't want this scent to perform like a beast. Avant-garde it is not, but if you are after a fragrance that is suitable any time in any place, this is it. You can't go wrong. Longevity is fine; what it lacks in sillage, it makes up for in elegance. 8.5/10

A beautifully blended masculine perfume, I can detect what must be Alien's woodsy or amber notes. One small spray of this envelopes me in a cloud of scent, and it lingers far beyond a good scrubbing in the shower, which, would I wear this, I would appreciate. Unfortunately, this is too masculine for me- perhaps I will layer it. It would be amazing on a man.

I will echo other reviewers in saying that the scent is nice, but projection is shamefully low given the price point. I have the feeling that the whole collection "Les Exceptions" has this issue, and that while most of the scent are "nice", they lack originality. Mugler may have arrived a little late in producing a high-end line. A pass for me.

Smells so refreshing and clean. It reminds me -in the best way- of a handcrafted geranium soap I bought from the Audi Soap Museum. The fern, oakmoss and herbal notes make it very pleasant in the summer and spring.

While I am a huge Mugler fan, this line has disappointed due to high costs and poor performance. This really impressed me - I was reminded of Chanel Pour Monsieur and Guerlain’s Mitsouko, perhaps because I have sampled a relatively small number of fougeres. It is warm and herby, I detect oak moss and something minty (adding freshness). It stayed close to my skin and did not last very long at! I know not everything performs like Angel but what is the purpose of a scent if not to be smelled?!

Got a sample of this today. It is a great one for Alien lovers! It adds a slightly bitter, or shall I say slightly masculine edge to the alien concept. Lovely for those who find the original too sweet, but still very unisex IMO. Settles into a skin scent pretty quick, which is a bit disappointing. I couldn't really smell much after about 30 minutes, but that could just be me getting used to it. I still gets wafts of the impression of the scent. Nice.

A whimsically strange creation that doesn't seem to know what it is. In the beginning, I get a strong similarity to Skin Bracer Original by Mennen (cue jingle) with a sweet, almost vanillic lavender. The drydown brings genlte wafts of Zara's Norrland and its warm-ish sour vetiver approximation of Terre d'Hermes parfum. Blend the two and I suppose you can get pretty close to this juice. Not great but not bad.

Simple but very very pleasant. Very green yet somehow warm at the same time. Light and easy to wear. The only downside is it’s overpriced for what it is...if it cost $75 I’d buy a bottle and keep it in the fridge for hot days when I was mostly going to be outside in the sun. At its actual cost? I’ll stick with 4711 for that

this is the love story and subsequent breakup with fougere furieuse. setting: the bay staring: me i smell the tester "fume funnel" and it smells pleasant. the SA gives me the pitch as a ballsy floral, and I'm totally turned on. i ask to spray it on a tester paper, but she goes ahead and gives me the (really pretty) sample. i spray it the day later and *spoiler alert* its sucks. the green notes at the top are distractingly synthetic, like the opening of a cheap fougere. once it gets past that disastrous phase, its the only part of the fragrance which is awful, as the rest is well blended. the light geranium blends well with the soapiness from the neroli, all resting on solid base notes. after an hour or so, it comes together a lot better--the catch is at this point, its mostly gone. longevity is really poor, 2 hours max on my skin before it just turns into a trace and it doesn't project much at all. so not only was the scent nothing like i expected, it was just....meh. maybe worth it for a fougere fan, but otherwise not at all worth the 180 cad (or 225 usd *gasp*)

I found Fougere Furieuse to be an interesting masculine aromatic fougere; it comes across as a darker shade of a lightly-spiced aromatic with deep-green herbal tones. Sounds great...but hold-on because this fragrances is a one-trick pony because it has drawbacks. First, it is linear and there is something in this scent that just does't click and can be a little off-putting. Moreover, performance is not good; it lasted 90-minutes and sat pretty close to my skin after the first half-hour. This fragrance has some interesting elements but misses the mark. Lastly, the asking price makes this fragrance a definite pass and I cannot recommend that any gentleman give Fougere Furieuse a try when there are so many other great aromatic fougere fragrances on the market for a fraction of the price. Your mileage may vary.

Fougere Furieuse is a masculine aromatic, that's seemingly minimalist in nature, yet so sweetly sophisticated in a special way. Every facet seems to be sweetened to some degree, so that no single note projects in any bland or normal fashion. The presentation here presents a beautiful green accord—then a sweet Geranium and Oakmoss—with remnants of the Tonka and Fern providing unique textures. The green accord appears to me to be something like Bergamot; Sweet Leaves (Cassia/Cassis?); Petitgrain—maybe a little Vetiver—maybe a little Elemi? It gives the fragrance a very sweet body to it, and makes it easily enjoyable despite how simple and mature the composure of the fougere style here is. This is truly a gentleman's fragrance through-and-through, and any lover of the fougere style is sure to find their money well-spent with this one. It really captures the style with an expertise—and surely exists as a gem amongst the genre for sure.

I received three from the "exceptions" line to test, fougere furieuse, chyprissime and oriental express. Fougere furieuse (again,kind of a silly name) is light, airy, green but with a warm orange blossom and coumarin base. The fern and oakmoss mingle nicely with geranium and a crisp yet warm accord. Not a groundbreaking creation, but Mugler's exceptions really have clean crisp smelling ingredients: the fern and herbal accord is gorgeous, also being part of a family that's not overcrowded (like chypres and orientals) it has a place. That said there's nothing furious about it, and it could do with a tad less neroli. But quite beautiful. Good aura and presence. scent: 7+/10 longevity: 5/10 sillage: 6/10

Slightly sweet amber oakmoss. I sense green notes, herbal, with geranium and bits of sweet amber. I do smell roses as well with sharp neroli but more of sharp herbal greens. I can't detect fern here but tonka might be here but not sure as well. It's nice and i am smelling the stamp of Mugler here. Edit (6th Sept 2022) Green citrus fern... This one has bergamot, then comes neroli, dewy green leaves, fertile soil, & a touch geranium. The oakmoss is quite visible as well but no amber or tonka detected in here, & i don't know how i did detected it back then! This is more of a neroli, bergamot, green dewy leaves. Nice.

Disclaimer, I am a self-taught perfumer. Ok, I like this perfume! It`s a modern, well balanced, dry woody fougere. Not overly dry like many of today`s annoying night club scents. Top notes might include some frankincense, a little bit of linalool, ethyl linalool too. The geranium is most pronounced, and you can smell it well right out of the gate. I also get a lot of patchouli in combination with a material called "cashmeran," (a fluffy cedar like musk) and I also smell the softening affects of white musks and ionones (iris materials). Great scent, pleasant, well balanced, not annoying. Gentlemanly.

I think the vintage lovers will like Fougere Furieuse, I don't see too many similarities with Alien EDP,which has a real strong jasmine vibe, but this is the most unisex, it is nicely done, the oakmoss very well done, it lingers nicely on the skin, neither too masculine, nor frankly feminine..just typically an oak moss perfume, with a bit of soapiness...worth $185 a bottle? I don't believe so..none of the Exceptions are worthy of such a high price..

For daytime when I am getting things accomplished this is a homerun. Agree that there is vetiver and bergamot right at the top in the "herbal accord", it really slaps me in the face saying time to go to work. The neroli keeps it from going too formal, although i don't pick up on it much. I could see how someone more experienced could write it off as simple oakmoss based but it's just so wearable for me and that's important.

A very enjoyable, herbal-green fragrance with some heft in its opening but with a longevity that’d be insulting from a $25 department store cologne, much less a $200 designer exclusive. The Mugler DNA is fully present with a punchy boldness but this seriously lasted < 40 minutes on me. No way.

It’s a modern fougere but not in a very masculine way. It almost seems to have a piercing vetiver note at the top. Way less depth than other fougeres. Wear Polo Green and save hundreds of dollars

Nice fragrance got me hooked but should have looked at the reviews as mentioned the projection and longevity are garbage for the price this retails at £140.

Can't wait... I currently own 4 in the line and this guy is definitely on the cutting edge.... AMEN was and IS Iconic and revolutionary......

This reminds me a lot of Zegna Sicilian Mandarin. This is a top notch fougere that replaced lavender with Neroli. Gorgeous.
