Mirror Mirror Collection - Miroir des Envies

One note listed? What's up with that? There's so much more than that going on here. I get what everyone is saying about the "bread" or "biscotti" note. Personally the note is more like biscotti, but not with any spices or anything, more of a yeasty-bready smelling biscotti, and NOT sweet or dipped in anything. Just the biscotti alone and naked. It's kinda reminiscent of the bready notes in Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau. There is definitely something weird there. Not weird in a bad way, just weird in a Mugler way ;) The scent is not in any way sweet or gourmand at all, not even a little bit, but it is comforting in the same manner that sweets are. I have to give it to him, this is quite a unique scent. You could say all jasmine is the same but you'd be dead wrong. Mugler has a way with florals that make them much more appealing to me than anyone I've discovered thus far. I don't know if everyone would really appreciate this scent though. It's quite unusual, and although I like the way it smells on my skin, I'm not sure I would like to smell like this all day. Hope that makes sense. 10/10 for creativity 9/10 for sillage 8.5/10 for wearability 9.5/10 for likeability! EDIT: I just got myself a bottle of this! It's amazing!!!! The mirrored box is gorgeous, and so is the bottle. The scent is even better when it's sprayed on. I am so in love! <3 This is seriously the most unique jasmine scent I have ever smelled and I am completely INTOXICATED by its aroma. Just divine. You must sample this if you have any affinity for jasmine!

I purchased this one 4 years ago and ended up sending it back the same day, I thought it was repulsive. I just could not understand the mastery behind it, since I was just venturing into the "world beyond " when it comes to perfumes. Recently, I started repurchasing all the perfumes that I got rid of, including Deliria, and I discovered that I quite enjoy them now. So Miroir des Envies was the next on my list since I love Mugler. It took some searching, but I was finally able to find a full bottle, after purchasing a mini and having my mind blown by it. Miroir des Envies is gorgeous. I have no idea how to describe it; it smells like you are having breakfast right under the jasmine bush (or is jasmine actually a vine?), a breakfast that involves some kind of yeasty dough, not necessarily bread, but something baked and salty. That was the note that initially confused the heck out of me and made me return it. I don't understand why Jasmine is a solitary note listed for this perfume, but there must be something more to it, and I doubt there is another perfume that smells closely to M des E. This is in no way white floral, it is actually a gourmand, and a good one at that. Miroir des Envies is going on the top of my list. It is that good.

This is gorgeous. I purposely didn’t read the reviews before testing this as I didn’t want to be influenced and wanted to see what I smelled by myself. First off it was very gourmand. I thought I smelled baked goods like cakes or cookies. Very sweet. But not at all in a sickly or cloying way. Just a lovely sweet cake. Now I have read the reviews and seen the note listed is Jasmine. This can’t be the only note. Lots of people are talking about buttered toast. I’m not getting toast but when I sniff from the bottle I get buttered popcorn. Though on my skin it is sweeter like cake. It could also be the jasmine note causing the sweetness. This jasmine is nothing like in Alien. I see no similarities with this fragrance and Alien. This scent is more delicate. It’s good enough to eat but does not smell juvenile in any way. I think people would want to hug you when you are wearing this. These Mirror Mirror scents keeps getting better for me. What a shame I only discovered them now.

If you could bake jasmine cookies with walnuts inside - that would be it. The warmest, driest, surrealistic, yet very natural jasmine. Mind you, it is not fresh and moist. More like getting fried on the bright sunshine flowery-bush. As usual with Mugler's house - innovative and very avant-garde. Will be loved by those, who appreciate Luten's Jeaux de Peau and Praline de Santal of Generale. Yet Miroir des Envies more bitchy and on "I will eat you!" side, rather than "Eat Me, babe"

I simply love this perfume, makes me think of Sunday mornings in bed with toast. I'm wearing this beauty in the summer as I feel the warmth extends the perfume and it fits right in the summer vibe. It lasts quite long with me and people love the smell, it's something original and totally different. Love!

I swapped it some time ago. Funny,but I couldn't stand the hazelnut and some icy notes mixed together. I got them there:) it had been sitting in my mind since my last experience and...now I have it again:)

I absolutely love it. It's reminiscent of Alien, but it's like a faint memory of it. It feels warm and close to the skin with its addictive flower.

Clearly not for everybody. I am in love with this perfume. The composition above is missing the toasted bread component, which is very eminent.

There are two notes missing here: it's got toast in it, as well as "solar notes" (don't ask, I read this in another website, though I might be wrong) At first whiff this smells really warm, comforting, nutty and gourmand, but not in a sticky cloying floral/fruity/sugary/caramel/marshmallow/cottoncandy/slap-you-in-the-face kind of gourmand, no. It's more like breakfast in bed croissant on a morning in France, next to a vase of fresh flowers. Later, the jasmine becomes more prominent, but the nutty warmth is still there.In the ens it smelled a bit like chocolate to me. I smelled this through a tester, and later from a sample vial. It's lasting power is quite strong, and though the scent itself is quite strong, it's not overwhelming, though it can be annoying in summer. Best used in winter when you really want to feel warm and toasty and enveloped in cozy blanket of pastry, jasmine and sunshine. Ok I'm off to buy my own bottle before I get the "I'm sorry we're sold out" retort.

I like everything by Mugler. This is an interesting creation. It reminds me very much of Taste of Fragrance Alien because it smells like jasmine and caramel. It is very gourmand and actually reminds me a lot of caramel corn--salty, buttery, nutty, and sweet. I did not know anything about notes of buttered toast or whatever the case might be, but it does indeed smell like buttered toast. I find sillage to be moderate. While I do like this perfume, I prefer Taste of Fragrance Alien, which I find more mouthwatering. The butter note here is prominent, but it is a tad on the synthetic side, so I can not fully enjoy it.

"Morning toast, sun-drenched skin, and jasmine" are notes reported in this addictive perfume. On my skin, this plays like Galliano, Frangelico and a touch of cream--liquorous anise, vanilla, herbs, citrus and hazelnuts. Jasmine doesn't seem to make an appearance but fortunately her understudy--something akin to cool, waxy orange blossoms--makes a showing. Thoroughly addictive, comforting and intoxicating. Yes, I'd like another shot please!

This is just delicious! Sweet and warm, yet something about it is unsettling. I get toast when I first spray it. That note stays, but settles. Then the sweet jasmine comes out. I get another note, but I am not sure what it is. It ties the jasmine and toast together and sweetens the pot. This is unique, as all Mugler's are. Silage is moderate and longevity is pretty good-6-7 hours at this point. This is a delightful, delicious perfume...

I bow to these two genius ladies. How can this smell fresh and biscotti-like at the same time - incredible. I am usually not a fan of "dessert" types of fragrances but this is something else.

I truly don't know why my nose has TOTALLY stopped liking Mugler's "jasmine"......I love jasmine! And every one I try it is so harsh and chemical smelling to me. I used to love them...a LOT of them!

Miroir Des Envies I remember to have bought in 2008, when it were 'born'. the packaging and communal love for Thierry Mugler's esthetics since the 1980s easily lured me in, as also the perfume itself. the Futuristic Flacon 'sat' in a box of mirrors, all sides were mirrors. this didn't came cheap but I already was far beyond the "Oh how expensive this is', line. twice I bought La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream for the Face at first 550 guilders (1990s), and in the 2000s, how ironically, 550 €. so I guess it set me off at perhaps € 220. what I find amusing is the modern trend to just give One Note (Jasmin) to quite a complex perfume. you see this more often and apparently it started somewhere around 2008. it is as if you characterize Chanel No5 with just Rose (& Jasmin) or Cartier Le Must (1981) with just Galbanum. I have the feeling Thierry Mugler's Miroir Des Envies of the Mirror Mirror Collection is a Chypre. what would corroborate with this would be a pairing with either Oakmoss, Patchouli, Citruses in the Top and then the Jasmin. what I notwithstandingly smell is a 'Complicated Jasmine'. a Jasmine can become complicated when it for instance gives off Indolic Whiffs, like Wilted Jasmine does. with micro (or plenty) foul notes of wilting, rot, notes of piss, even scatoles ("Skatole (also spelled skatol) or 3-methylindole is an organic compound belonging to the indole family. It occurs naturally in the feces of mammals and birds and is the primary contributor to fecal odor".) en.wikipedia.org. there is a certain leaning of synthetic scathing. but the Jasmine is also treated in a wholesome manner. the name does full justice to this fickle flower: "Miroir des Envies is a French phrase that translates to "Mirror of Desires" or "Mirror of Cravings"." so in the end I was quite enamoured with the perfume. I love complex, dark flowers, preferrably Roses, hefty White Flowers and all Heady and Opulent Dramatic numbers. this fits the bill.

Borderline schizophrenic. Where to start.... My boy-cat had smelly paws. They didn't smell cheesey or dirty, & they weren't even unpleasant to sniff, per se. I would often awake to find a large, black pad hovering above my lips, trying to steal my breath. My velvet theif had feet that smelt of clean, dusty fur, dry, pale biscuits, aga-toasted breadcrumbs & aged candle-wax. My feline friend also had a penchant for padding across window cills & shelves, knocking treasures onto the floor with his furry plus-fours & fancy tail, much to my chagrin. On first sniff, Miroir des Envies is a black cat, sat alone licking its paws in a beautiful french renaissance bedroom. The room is ransacked, the Duchess lies dead. Confusion reigns around the little furry island of calm. What? Why? How? The mirror tells a tale...pad, pad, pad. Smash! A bowl of toasted, sugared hazelnuts & almonds shatters. Bang! A tea tray of brown toast spread with honeycomb hits the floor. Crash! The jasmine plant is upended & the waxy buds scatter. Thud! A full bottle of Alien parfum falls heavily onto the sleeping beauty's head. Pad, pad, pad... M des E is a twisted little scent dressed up as sweetness & light. It has many facets & yet it does not give up its secrets easily. No matter how much you may love & hate it (& you will, with equal measure) you will be compelled to keep sniffing, searching for its breadcrumb trails as it pads across your skin. For me, it is not a scent I would comfortably wear even though I like loud, oddball perfumes....& yet I keep re-visiting my sample. I simply can't keep my paws off it. M des E = Mad as a bag of cats - one to sample for curiosity & kicks.

Miroir des Envies is a very interesting fragrance, one that I've worn three days in a row in order to gather any kind of opinion on the way it smells and speaks to me. It's a jasmine fragrance alright, there's no doubt about it, however it's not necessarily pretty or flowery. The jasmine blooms in this fragrance, have been burnt or roasted alongside an array of hazelnuts and cashews. It has a rather smokey and foody quality, which leans towards being gourmand, but not in a sweet sense of the word. The scent of toast is pretty spot-on, as I find this fragrance more savoury than sweet. Many are referring to this fragrance as being a little similar to Alien, also by the same house. I know they're both dominated by jasmine, however I find Alien far more refreshing and a touch more feminine. Miroir des Envies is quite daring and strange, perhaps the name Alien was more suited to this Mugler creation. This fragrance brings to mind marmalade toast, cocoa powder, an assortment of unsalted nuts and burning plastic. It's very strange, at times a little unpleasant, yet overall the kind of fragrance that you can't stop inhaling and spritzing on just to experience the weirdness of it all. The longevity is good, very long lasting, yet the sillage is quite intimate and soft. I also find the scent a little soapy at times, but it's not really a clean scent. It's really hard to describe.
