Mystic Aromatic

Holy Toledo I’m really vibing with this fragrance. Ok, so some disclaimers— I’m a Mugler fan, so I generally have positive spins on their frags, but I’m also honest in my experience. Also, this initial entry is based on my first impressions. I really really 💕 love and am obsessed 🤩 with the initial spray on paper, air, and my skin. To me it smells 🪴 herbally sweet and fresh🪴. I have sweet grass braids gifted to me by a Blackfoot Elder, which means a lot to me, and this is what this fragrance smells to me. I recognized that there is no sweet grass notes listed, so I looked up what Clary sage smells like and this is likely what I’m picking up (per Fragrantica: “ Odor profile: A soft and sweet herbaceous fragrance with lavender, balsamic, and amber musky nuances”). Admittedly for silage and longevity, I don’t think either score high as I’ve only been wearing it for less than two hours and seems to be a skin scent. So next time I’ll spray the back of my neck I can smell it longer bc my nose doesn’t get used to it as fast. Or maybe that’s just the dry down when it settles. I’ll have to try it more to figure that one out. I’ve purchased several from the Les Exceptions line, and would say that this fits with their overall unisex vibe. I would also describe Mystic Aromatic as sophisticated and understated. Sophistication is not quite a characteristic I would associate myself with, yet bc i feel like it’s the antithesis of my “norm”, I love it.

My very first review of a fragrance, since I thought it was worth writing about. Mystic Aromatic to me smells like an enchanted forest. Something out of a movie or a video game. It’s pleasant, green, and fresh. I need to wear it a few more times to get an idea for sillage and longevity but I’d say moderate for both from my first few wears. It leans masculine I’d say a bit but could definitely be worn by a female with this kind of taste. A true sleeper pick from this lesser known line by Muglar.

This fragrance has grown on me more and more. It's quite different to anything else I own being green, spicy, fresh with a slight floral in the background, all held together by the soft warmth of the Peru balsam. It's long lasting with moderate to soft projection. I've had several compliments whilst wearing it and it's versatility means it can be suitable for different occasions. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea but well worth a try.

This smells exactly like Yerba mate / peppermint but classy. Great sillage and power on my skin.

Pleasant and interesting, especially in the opening! I get sweet, green herbs and soft, powdery freshness, with an almost dainty floral undertone. It's like a lovingly tended herb garden where the beds of fresh herbs are interspersed with patches of sweet grass and flowering clover. If my skin didn't suck the moisture out of every aromatic fragrance it meets, I think I would really love this. I love the way it opens, fresh and tenderly green, like sweet mint, and a hint of tangy basil. However, on me, the crispness of the opening very quickly fades. The scent itself remains fresh and sweetly herbal, but the texture dries down into a musky powder, with a papery undertone like cedarwood. Like the watercolor memory of a herb garden.

A beautiful herbal bouquet...fresh and green, but soft like walking through a garden.. savory soothing and serene.. It calms and welcomes. It's clean and inviting. Nothing harsh or biting or bracing. Perfect for summer. Very unisex. Lasts a long time in clothes. The best part? No tea...no cannabis smell...no citrus either. It's unique that way. Just ...gloriously green.

I did a trial run in the perfume counter yesterday with the whole Les Exceptions line and this was one of two that sticked out for me as more unusual and alluring. What a surprise it seems to be one of the least liked here.... very herbal like the name says yet without spices and oriental touch. Big like so far, will test again.

This has the herbal green opening I was looking for. A couple of hours later and I'm getting lots of thyme softened by the basil, enlivened by a warm somewhat woody note. Pretty happy with this. Presentation box is super luxe, well done Mugler.

Well well now this is disappointing... the first Les Exception that I really couldn't take. On paper and as well on skin I got a very sharp, synthetic green aroma that is anything but the soft, sweet fragrance of sweet basil. It could’ve been the thyme and sage that add that sharp edge. I washed off the scent after 40 minutes because I was getting a headache. I might try again since I really like green scents, but first impression was not great :(

In all terms of art, Mugler must have thought to pull out big guns with this release. The fresh botanical aromatic has an mysteriously enchanting aroma—as enigmatic as the name suggests. The feature of the fragrance is a herbacous accord—A Real Live One—that was instantly reminiscent to me of some hipster fougere from the 60's or 70's, that would have been making serious waves back then. The body of the botanical aroma is bold and pungent, and speaks levels of sophistication, far beyond even say Cool Water was thought to have in its prime. There is a freshness factor then enveloping this. It is very stimulating, and does well to compliment the challenging herbs, and their almost medicinal, apothecary-like overtone. I certainly catch a strong sense of modern style in the balance between the boldness and freshness here, but the spirit of the fragrance is so vintage, I don't think anyone would typically catch that here. It's a very modern essence for the 60's or 70's though. If you could go back in time wearing this, you could probably get looked at as the coolest m*therf*cker in the world for a day. Quite an interesting piece for the Les Exceptions line. This is moreso what I'd imagine the entire line would have be about. It's stylish and unique, yet artistically caters to special tastes. All the dynamic qualities that enliven the majestic title of the line. Certainly got more than I was expecting here. It's challenging—but fun to wear. Unique all around. Not a boring experience in the least. Intrigued at when I'll feel up to the challenge to experience it all once again.

Not very mystic (no incense, myrrh nor rich spices) Mystic Aromatic is a green fougere with floral facets. It reminds of Lacoste Booster with a darker base "a la Terre d'Hermes". The synthetic green floral facet is a bit harsh and unpleasant. The minty note is more interesting but unfortunately not very intense. In the middle notes, clary sage brings a slightly animalic / musky touch to the fragrance. Globally it's very masculine and less interesting than other Mugler Exceptions.

Basil sage & thyme.... It is herbal green with a touch of pepper, and a touch of wood. the 3 notes of basil, sage, and thyme are mixed equally side by side as you can define each of them equally and never one is stronger than the other! It's great herbal fragrance that comes without tea note. Nice.

The only Les Exceptions frag that I really can't stand :( a generic blend of masculine greens that reminds of everything that I hate in Invictus and other perfumes in that style. Like sitting in a car with a guy wearing cheap perfume and an equally cheap air freshener.

wholeheartedly agree with @ginandrice. i think this is a very nice clean herbal scent for when you’d like to smell warm & green but not overwhelming. beautiful unique clean scent, a keeper for sure! drydown is the most herbal

Could someone please get the new re-releases of Les Exceptions, decant them, and sell them? I can't justify $300 for a whole bottle of this unless I have tested it first 🥲❤️🩹
