Woodissime

It's a *strong* like from me, and it would be an easy "love" if it wasn't so pricy ($200+). I've sampled a handful of other fragrances that have "Oud" in the name, and I didn't care much for them. Seeing as how this supposedly has oud in it, I wasn't expecting much. My nose isn't sophisticated enough to pick out the particular fruit in the opening, but the notes I enjoy the most in this fragrance are the warm woody ones, especially the cedar. I agree with the closing part of @ReapThaWhirlwind's review: "A bit of a naturalist style here overall, but very complex and sophisticated. Woodissime would probably be best suited for a woman. And with the style and price tag, I would further suggest best as a gift she didn't have to pay for herself. I definitely enjoyed the experience though, and would recommend Woodissime to anyone looking for something mature, sophisticated, and provocative. With the subtle animalic nuance that envelops it. It softly suggests dirty things, without being crude, and involving any heavy animalic presence."

This is beautiful. It opens with woods and fruit. Not candied fruits but rather a very earthy fruit, similar to the notes Ellen Covey uses in Bat and Tropic of Capricorn. Woodissime is not in any way similar to those two at all except for that earthy fruit accord. Very unisex. I don't get the animalic vibe from the Oud. In fact, it just gets softer and sweeter with time. I agree with Meeru99's review below regarding a nutty vibe, almost like almond but not quite as sweet. The longevity is great at over 8 hours before it settles to a soft sweet slightly soapy skin scent. This perfume far exceeded my expectations. I would strongly consider a full bottle.

Its a beautiful light modern wood and fruity. The nutty note that appears with the fruit, wood and osmanthus is very nice. That needs a bottle itself. The Patchouli gives it a sexy vibe. Sweet creamy drydown. If you like a woody scent its very good. Easily unisex.

So It's pretty crazy that the first of this line came out nearly 5 years ago and I'm only just sampling them now. The idea of an exclusive line is fine but don't make them so exclusive no one gets to sniff the bloody things. The exclusive period for Harrods (I think it was?) in the UK was insane and I've only just got to try them now. Woodisime is an extremely likeable fragrance with the sweet, fruity opening completely appealing to my sweettooth but countered enough with a decent base to make it not cloy or annoy. The body as it settles is probably the soft fruity osmanthus blossom and then into a peppery wood, slightly resinous which if you tell me is oud, then I believe you. The main effect and base is one of a soft, creamy, slightly powdered, sandalwood. It's nice...the quality is clearly there I thought it wouldn't last and although slight, Woodisime has lasted all day, lightly projecting. Good start to the line for me.

I like this. It feels very dark-in-the-middle-of-the-forest to me, which I generally really like. There's one note here, though, somewhere near the middle, that goes very balsamic on me. Probably the osmanthus, if there's no actual benzoin in it -- it's sharp and a little medicinal, and while it balances out some of the woody sweetness, it also amps up on my skin and feels a little too disinfectant-like for comfort. Luckily, it fades quickly (the note, not the rest), and settles back into that woodiness that I like. If it wasn't roughly the cost of a car payment, I'd probably pick up a bottle and learn to embrace the few minutes of weird, but as it is, I'll use the sample when I'm feeling particularly Forest Hag and love it sparingly.

Hi everyone! So strange...I don’t get anything controversial with this one. I get beautiful stone fruit with creamy osmanthus. Some oud, yes. But nothing overly animalic or over the top. I find it to be well done and a great performer! This is 100% unisex. Three sprays max and away from the face because of the strength. See my collection to see how divergent or similar our tastes are, but I’m a fan!

Vetiver parfüme biraz ferah bir yapı sağlıyor. Sanki biraz da çam var sanki. Kalıcılık ve koku dağılımı ortalama.

Finally something good in this collection, with good performance. That said it didn't blow me away. Just a like for me.

"Fruits". Just generic "fruits". Never a good sign when that word pops up in the note pyramid and here's further proof. There is nothing wrong with this - it's not obnoxiously chewing-gum Juicy-Fruit style chemical banana assault - but not a great deal going right or amazing either. Kinda-sorta osmanthus with kinda-sorta "fruits", no oud or sandalwood (pfft), vague powdery aura of sweetness ... I should hate it, for this slapdash and no-ambition attempt, but overall it kinda-sorta-somehow coheres, SOMEWHAT, to make something vaguely 'ok, yeah, nice enough'. I get no wood and no excitement from the whole affair. A pleasant-enough fizzle but almost totally anticlimactic. If you want proper adventure in this area go for PG's Une Crime Exotique; sadly the Woodissime is basically pointless.

Kudos for being so original but I'm not sure how I feel about this. The opening is sweet and synthetic like cherry cough syrup. It evolves into a plasticy mix of fruit and osmathis. I find no wood in this and maybe a very light transparent oud. As off putting as this is there is something modern and sleek about it. Maybe a bit like Chloe Nomad Absolue with a tiny hint of YSL M7. Perhaps a polished, well dressed woman working in New York City as a museum curator could pull this off. As for the rest of us? this remains to be seen. I'll give this another shot but Im not sure I'll be able to go through my 3.4 oz bottle. It'll take me a decade to finish it off as I can't think of any occasion when I'd reach for this. Opens with a loud blast of sweet-candied fruits and Oud, and dries down to a semi-sweet oud/sandalwood/osmanthus combo. It is vaguely reminscent of M7 Oud Absolu, but I wouldn't call them ultra similar but there are notes in here that remind me of it. This isn't a fragrance I would wear, this could definitely be unisex as it's rather sweet on opening and that fruity sweetness lingers in the background throughout only subsiding slightly. The cedar, patchouli, and vetiver are nearly undetectable for me and I get a tart fruitiness with some sweet/sour oud, and slight creamy sandalwood and osmanthus. Not my cup of tea at all.

Smells like apricot. But wait! Sometimes we see some fruit bowl on tables. Look very shiny and delicious. Imagine you saw that beautiful apricot, grab it and put it in your mouth; try to chew it, but no. It is plastic. You had a disappointment, now you have to take it out of your mouth, wipe the saliva and put it back in the bowl. Unfortunately, woodissime is like that. Huge disappointment. Fruit note is so synthetic and very loud. Because of it, I cannot smell the oud and other things. I love oud and was expecting something middle eastern but it is not. Just strong fruit on woody base. Nothing special.

Warning! Porn Alert! Remember "Secretions Magnifiques" by L'Etat Libre D'Orange? This one is its olfactory (porn) cousin for it smells of a male's very private area. Some ouds smell of cow dung, others smell of armpit sweat but this one is a sweet, musky intimate B.O. that some might find VERY appealing. I thought I would honestly put it "out there". 10/10 for an olfactory aphrodisiac. -1/10 for a safe scent for a job interview.

!!! They have reformulated the original release !!! Now it is a fruity, loud and weird "thing" (not sure whether necessarily better) resembling the original Michael Kors for men from 2004 and the really penetrant JOVOY "L'Enfant Terrible". I actually preferred the rude original!!

Dry, dusty cedar shavings and a musky sweetness, offset by a sour, fecal animalic note which reminds me of a dirty hamster cage...

Woodissime opens up with a brazen presence of brushed dry woods, that's very captivating and clean polished. I would almost liken it to that of Gucci Pour Homme I without the incense in it. Deep, bold, and aromatic—abrasive in the way that it stimulates the senses. The fragrance then begins to develop with a beautiful artisan style, and the other notes slowly begin to unveil themselves. The fruit notes were first for me—and definitely identifiable as an accord. This fruit accord provides a bright purée of aromatics, whose boldness strongly compliments the vivid, fresh Osmanthus that begins to take center stage as the fragrance fully develops. Once the Osmanthus takes full bloom, the orientation of the fragrance shifts to a strong feminine dominance. The Osmanthus projects with its signature vivid green aura to it. Bright and fresh, almost powdery, but naturally sweet and awakening. The underlying aromatics cradle the Osmanthus very well, and their texture seem to softly stroke your sensory brushed up against the walls of the everfresh floral. A bit of a naturalist style here overall, but very complex and sophisticated. Woodissime would probably be best suited for a woman. Okay I don't actually own this.. but Mugler did send me the candle as a gift, after registering several product codes on their website. As far as the scent profile itself, it is the elegant yet woody/smoky scent I would have guessed for Mugler's haute line under the name "Woodissime." Seeing fruits in the note pyramid, I can now identify the cherry/orange sourness, followed by the funeral-like osmanthus and spiciness of herbs, two notes which are reminiscent of the terrifying Alien Man. Onc again, in scent profile only, I can say this is Oud with a capital O, haunted by fruitcake and incense; maraschino liquid soaked cherrywood.

European style oud with dates & fruits... It's almost similar to "Across Sands" by Margiela with that oud style and dates but with an extra fruitti notes and mostly it is sakura & Japanese juicy sweet candy peaches. Now, you won't get that juicy Japanese fruitti vibes unless you stick your nose on this for not less than 4 consecutive seconds as the European style oud is covering other notes & requires digging deep to reach what's beneath. It has as well sandalwood, & osmanthus. It's a fragrance that isn't new, means, it's like a variation of past perfumes. Fair.

I received a few sampler vials of this and I’ve had the opportunity to fully try this scent out. I’m honestly growing tired of this entire line. It starts off sweet baby food sweet and then dries down to a sandalwood/oudish resin that reminds me of built up grease you find in kitchens on top of cupboards. I say give it a whirl if you can get some vials like I had but the novelty wears off after multiple wearings. What starts off as a playful and modern oriental fragrance gets boring pretty quick. Now the whole thing just reminds me of a damp baseball mitt.

Got the full size bottle. First impressions are wood on wood, quite a harsh flat wood note with little else. Very quickly the harshness mellows into a soft Woody powdery type smell. Surprised for Mugler how light this is, 5 or 6 sprays and an hour later it's barely there.

I don't think this fragrance actually has oud in it. It's a light, peppery woody note (possibly the microdose of patchouli contributes to the peppery harshness) and a general "fruity" accord similar to the one in Chloe Nomade. Limp and common.

Just updating this - although I would still say this is much lighter than I expected it does have a very warm almost nutty note that lingers for sometime. I do really like it but not sure it's worth the £135 price tag.

Starts off great, but eventually produces an off-putting Chanel Egoiste-like note on my skin.

Fruity with light and clean oud. If you're looking for an oud for summer, this is it.
