Legacy Oud Round 6 EDP

This is one of the most opulent scents I've experienced, and possibly one of the best blended Rose-Oud combos I've tested to date! First impression: This is VERY similar to David Yurman Limited Edition perfume extract (deep red bottle), but this is far improved and less rough around the edges. This doesn't have the leather, but instead, papyrus, and it's blended extremely well, like a Dior or Chanel scent. Equally dominant rose, oud, saffron, and raspberry jump out at first spray, and these are some of my favorite notes. The papyrus starts to creep out soon after, and this is noticeably the same papyrus note that you'll find in Bvlgari Pour Homme Soir, which is again, one of my favorite notes! (Bvlgari based their entire scent around this note, if that speaks at all to its quality) If you don't like rose, you'll likely find this too feminine, but if you do, then you're in for a pleasant middle eastern inspired surprise! The rose IS less dominant than it is in David Yurman Limited. Still, I'm actually rather surprised that this scent is labeled here as "For men", as this is absolutely as unisex of a rose-oud as it gets. There's actually nothing on the bottle or box that says "for men", and I have a feeling that's intentional. (On the original box at least, but I'm not sure about the updated box as mine was a pre-release sample) Surprisingly, the bottle is actually a little quarky... it's top heavy when oriented like the picture above, so much so that I'm nervous about setting it that way on the shelf with my other scents, but luckily, it also sits on its side, which means no risk of toppling over. Height-wise, that just means this 3.4oz bottle will end up in the front of my collection with smaller bottles, which isn't a bad thing. The cap is also magnetized, like Bleu de Chanel and Sauvage. One more slight negative is that there's nothing on the bottle indicating which scent is which - you'll have to judge by the color of the laces. Overall, not a bad bottle, but not the best. It looks good, but it might irritate the purists. Muhammad Ali fans are sure to love it though! So far, this is VERY strong, and I think a single spray would do for many wearers. I currently have a single spray, dabbed once, between both my wrists to refresh my memory for this review, and it's wafting very nicely. But, 2 sprays results in the perfect heavy sillage to fit my tastes, and that's impressive! More to come after I have time to sample this one more over the coming days! Stay tuned! Update: So far, I've been unable to reach the end of the dry down, which speaks volumes to how long this scent lasts! It's also been rather linear, but I have no complaints, as I really love the scent just the way it is. Not every scent benefits from changing throughout the day! Projection is still very strong and one, MAYBE two sprays, will do for most wearers, although I like to wear 3 sprays to enjoy this all to myself while wearing it around the house. Just 3 sprays will create such a heavy scent bubble that it'll still be noticeable over the smell of cooking dinner at home. Again, IMPRESSIVE!

Mine just arrived today, and, because of how inexpensive it is, I had no real expectations of being impressed, much less liking it too much. I'm going to stipulate that I don't own much, by way of rose and/or oud fragrances, but, I did want to go ahead & purchase one of these, just out of respect for The Greatest, so, I perused the different choices, and, this one appeared most likely to be something that I'd be able to appreciate. I did my usual couple of spritzes, before I put it up to mature, and, if opening impressions mean anything, then, I can see myself having to acquire a back-up bottle of this. Again, I'm no connoisseur of rose/oud fragrances, so, I can't speak to how exceptional a rose/oud fragrance this is, but, I can definitely say that I really like what I'm smelling, and, if the performance/longevity/sillage is anything near what it's purported to be, then, I could see myself making frequent usage of this attractive fragrance. I'm really intrigued, especially, because of how inexpensive this was, so, I'll be updating this review, once I've given it a month to settle in, but, thus far, I'm counting this as a blind-buy big win! UPDATE: It has taken me this long, six months, to feel like I had the right situation & circumstances to justify wearing this one. Too many other times, when I'd consider it, I always had something else that better fit the occasion, so, I've had it sitting back, but, fully aware that it needed to be worn & evaluated. Again, I have zero experience with rose, and, very little with oud, so, I was basically flying blind, as far as estimating how it might work on skin, and/or, clothing, but, the robust aroma gave indication that it was gonna be a strong performer. I work overnight, at the front desk of a condo building, so, while I do encounter some residents & visitors, for the most part, I'm pretty much there to myself, and, can sit with a fragrance & get a better feeling of what I'm dealing with. All b.s. aside, this is really nice💯. Take into account that I don't have experience with the rose/oud DNA, so, compared to other stuff, this might actually be shit...but, I seriously doubt it. I don't have to know my rose/ouds in order to know if what I'm smelling smells good or not, and, as was my initial impression, I'm extremely happy with this blind buy, and, as inexpensive as it is, I will definitely be buying a back-up bottle, in addition to giving another one in the line -- that Legacy Oud Round 7 -- a try, as well!👍🏿

Update! A couple opinions of mine have changed about this scent: * This IS more masculine than David Yurman Limited in spite of their similarities. I took turns wearing them back to back, and the rose is more dominant in David Yurman Limited, while Legacy Round 6 is more well rounded. I was even expressly told that the David Yurman was quite feminine, while being told the next day that Legacy Round 6 smells masculine. * While this is slightly more masculine than David Yurman Limited, it is still perfectly unisex. But, you won't walk around smelling like a bouquet all day. * THERE IS A DRYDOWN! Wearing this in the heat of the summer, when my skin actually has a chance to dissipate this scent's notes, the Oud is actually the longest lasting note! The Oud is rather sweet and woody, not very pungent, but still a bit dirty. I believe it's the same Oud note that's in Ferrari Essence Oud, but it also kind of reminds me of the Oud in Lattafa Raghba, but it's nowhere near as strong. However, again, it is long lasting. *Performance is still perfect, all day performance with 2 sprays, and you can touch up with one spray in the evening to refresh before going out. It's rather strong at first, so apply at least 20 minutes before leaving. Projection is very heavy for about 4 hours before settling down and the scent lasts noticeably up to the 12 hour mark with remnants still noticeable the next day. This is a homerun. Or more accurately, a first round knockout with a long celebratory gathering in the ring afterwards, that lasts better than just about anything else you'll find on the market.

Freedomlover, you CAN buy this in the UK! This is available on their website ExclusiveScent.com but unfortunately it's not available for sale to the USA yet, but I hope it is soon before I put too much more of a dent in this bottle! :) Update: this has finally made its way to the USA as well, and is selling for a GREAT price on eBay! It's definitely worth the price.

I blind bought this based on the bottle itself and it was super cheap on Jomashop. I am not a fan. It's not awful just not what I thought it would be. It comes off very mature, something I would smell on my Grandad. I'm 31 now so maybe in 15 years this will be something I do like. Only time will tell.
