Avalon

This is a beautiful fresh cologne, particularly the opening. A burst of natural good quality citrus. I get the lemon, bergamot, and lemon peel. Spectacular if you like citrus. This just puts me in a good mood. It's quickly followed by neroli, a little rosemary and lavender. The drydown is a soapy (ish) musk. There's a bit of petigrain in here too. In the same universe as Neroli Portofino and 4711. It smells really natural, but the downside of these natural ingredients is longevity just like Neroli Portofino. But you come to expect that to some extent. ------------------------------------------------- Final thoughts: A beautiful fragrance that is just as good as Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and performance is about the same. What a fantastic barber shop style fragrance in line with Floris JF and Ted Baker Ted's Grooming Room Cologne. Very realistic lime and lemon notes from the start. Very fresh and uplifting. Strong on the rind like citrus for 30 mins before it settles into a skin scent that lasts for roughly 3 hours on my skin. Great for a morning out of the shower pick me up. Great for layering on top of a fragrance that needs a little boost in the citrus department. All that said I do not think it's worth retail pricing. Personally, I wouldn't pay more that $50 US for it. Otherwise, Enjoy!

A very pleasant traditional neroli-citrus-aromatic cologne, a rather close approximation of the AdP Colonia style. Unfortunately, performance is just as mediocre, stronger than 4711, but so is everything else (pretty much). Brings back childhood memories of an old school barbershop where they would spray you with this stuff from head to toe for a few extra pennies. The current $130 MSRP price point is waaaaaaaaaaay too much for nostalgia, though.

Lovely lemon accord or note . . . probably the most realistic I've smelled. That's all that registers with me . . . and not for long: Avalon is ephemeral and weak, even by aftershave standards. It could make sense as an aftershave for around $15, but certainly not $120.

Less sweet and less citrusy than most similar fougéres, this gets high points for me for originality: you wouldn't mistake this for much else, thanks to the strong neroli. The soapiness makes it smell fairly old-fashioned in a winning, British sort of way.

Very nice moodlifiting citrus frgarance, with a subtle supporting soapy neroli. Nothing groundbreaking, but very well executed, and in terms of scent, possibly my favourite of the 4 I tried from this house. Obviously, the performance is below average, as expected and in line with the majority of citrus-prominent fragrances. As the previous reviewer commented, it's a more robust version of 4711 Cologne. Now.. this one is 10X more expensive than 4711.. Is a bit more longevity worth the price difference? The jury is out on that one. Sunny Summer mornings, 20+

Im a huge fan of fragrances from the 80's and this resembles the best parts of several before they were bastardised by IRFA. This smells close the the original Armani pour homme with little nuances and nods towards other fragrances like the wonderful Crabtree and Evelyn Wedt Indian Limes. Sadly it has no longevity whatsoever and even after liberal spraying it is gone within an hour or less. I wish they made a more concentrated version as it is beautiful!

I picked up a 100ml for $30 from a small business. The smell is really nice and the longevity is about 3-4ish hours(which is pretty good for a freshy). I think it was an excellent pickup but I could never see myself spending $130 for this fragrance. It’s pretty much a citrus bomb that’s grounded by that rosemary and musk.

A more robust 4711, vibrant and beautiful. It literally made me close my eyes in delight upon the first sniff. Highly recommended. (Hint: get the Murdock 4-piece sampler to see what else you may like. This is an impressive house.)

A very pleasant old school citrus neroli cologne, traditional and somewhat reminiscent of a Penhaligons cologne.
