The Rose

Reminds me a little of Lush’s Rose Jam, and Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I had been wondering if there was a perfume out there that would smell similar to the salve, and seemed to manifest this with a blind buy. This is a beautiful gourmand rose-violet. The violet is very prominent to me, which I’m happy about. I love the smell of violets. The rose note is very distinct, like I just stuck my nose in a fully-bloomed red rose and inhaled... It’s ripe, and there’s greenness. The raspberry and vanilla combined into the florals give it so much sweetness. The fragrance as a whole is strong and dense, and it’s also powdery. I think it would be best to wear this in the spring or fall, day or night. Maybe it’s the properties of the rose that make this akin to a love potion, who knows, but men in particular keep coming up to me enthusiastically complimenting my scent. They love it. The funniest comment I got was, “You smell like a rich lady’s baby powder... A baby powder for adults. Mmm! I’m telling you, buy another bottle.” 😅 Edit: I didn’t notice this till the weather got warmer, but this has such an airy, fluffy, cleanly sweet trail... It’s sublime. I kept thinking it was coming from somewhere else, but it was me. Now I can see why it’s a compliment magnet. I find the cold weather gives it a soapier quality, and I’d rather wear it when the sun is shining.

Another instant love by Musicology. Each of the Musicologies I tried is amazing and completely distinctive. The rose shocked me into amazement - it's a perfect rosy powder scent. It's a big, ornamental powder box of crystal glass with silver top full of airiest talcum and rice powder scented to the maximum with rose petals. It's so soft, silky, unique that I have no words in how wearing it made me smile all day. As if transporting me to a boudoir in French castle. Boudoir with most precious gifts and inventions that can possibly make a female happy in her pursuit of perfection. A scent of this invention I know perfectly well. Forgotten about it, too. I met such powdery goodness but scented with jasmin and violets. The flowers always beautifully captured and enhanced by the powdery softness. Each so distinctive and such a pleasure I sometimes wonder if the males invented it so well to earn money on the unsuspecting female, since first use always thinking it needed against all odds? Rose scented powder is a revelation to me in how distinctive it is from the other powder friendly flowers. Loved it to pieces.

Nathalie Lorson is simply the best when it comes to sweet, feminine fragrances! What a gorgeous perfume. Yes, it is similar to now discontinued Parfait de Roses, but The Rose seems to be lacking the liquor accord, which is a win for me. Very sweet, almost gourmand. Like some kind of a creamy rose dessert, if such thing existed. Absolutely beautiful. It is also performs a lot better for me than Parfait. I compared them wrist to wrist, and Parfait is mostly gone in 5 hours, while The Rose is still going strong. Also... must be projecting monstrously, because it's one of the very few perfumes that I can consistently detect on myself (yes, unfortunately for me as a perfume-obsessed degenerate, my sense of smell is not very strong). So, this is not something I'd wear to work. The Rose definitely goes on "I want it" list.

Gorgeous rose that has all her aspects highlighted. Sweetness is highlighted by raspberry, freshness and lightness by peony, powderiness by violets. And from the base soft woodiness anchors the flower with vanilla that mimics rose nectar. Gorgeous. I received it today as a gift which makes The Rose even more special. Out of the entire main line that I tested The Rose is on the 2nd place after I Belong To U and before Sun Goddess but all impressed me and I wished to have them. I am enamored with the freshness of the rose petals here that does not stop the scent from being powdery. Winter wear is glorious and the scent utterly feminine. It also has great presence. A sister to Lipstick Rose by Frederic Malle.

The raspberries in the opening are natural and juicy, the rose is delicate and the vanilla is enveloping and reassuring. More than a rose-vanilla scent, it's a vanilla-rose scent on me. I think this is beautiful and I love that I can smell it on me all day. I own and love both The Rose and Parfait de Roses, but I wouldn't call them dupes. Some of the notes are similar, but the end result is quite different. Parfait de Roses is less fruity and less vanilla-ry. While The Rose is a Ladurée 'religieuse à la rose' garnished with raspberries, Parfait de Roses is a glass of clear and syrupy rose liquor.

Smells like Lancome Parfait de Roses but this one is a tad more green. Nathaie Lorson revived the beauty that Lancome killed. Brilliant choice miss Lorson! Stunning perfume!

A rose that I find very embodied, with an almost rose geranium feel (yet not in the pyramid, and while I really don't get the raspberry). The violet-vanilla (pod) gives it something dark, and at the same time very flat, spreading out. I like this kind of interpretation of rose a thousand times better than when it ends up in aerial and overly bright EDPs. A very pretty rose, for those who love roses. Very versatile, without taking any risks. On the other hand, same comment as for the others of the series: for me, we are miles away from any musical interpretation... Or maybe I've completely missed the point.

I like this. I was immediately reminded of my favorite Parfait de Roses in the opening and the resemblance deepens in the dry down. This fragrance differs where the raspberry note provides a tart, fruity vibe for the first half hour before it settles into equal parts jammy and powdery candied violets and rose with a subtle base of vanilla to round it all out. PDR had a distinct rose liqueur note that lended a more syrupy quality. The Rose is very elegant and perhaps a little mature -- I can see this working in just about every season (save for the high heat) and any time of day.

The Rose by Musicology is a very jammy and syrupy fragrance. So if you are looking for a fresh, dewy type of rose then this will not be it. This is sweet and can be cloying to some. The performance is excellent. I have a very cool skin and a lot of perfumes do not project well for me. Well this was very long lasting (I could smell it the next day) and it projected. I have to mention that I always spray perfume on my skin as well as clothes so that improves the performance.

feels like having candied rasberry & roses. comforting and sweet and warm. rounded, berry-rose-vanilla combo with a dash of powdery. granted, it is not a groundbreaking scent, but it is an easy to enjoy, warming one.

A very sharp and a bit sour rose with raspberry and some violet. It stays quite linear through the whole wearing. The fragrance does have fair value for the price I would say, it projects and lasts on me at least 10hrs!

The violet overpowers the rest of the notes to make the perfume smell very syrupy and almost sickly. The fragrance itself is quite delicate and doesn’t last long on me.

Definitely see the Parfait the Roses resemblance, very similar, especially in the later stages. Very syrupy, very sweet, fruity rose with powdery nuances.

This opens with a very strong raspberry scent, which is rather fun and pleasant for the first few minutes. HOWEVER. Once that topnote has faded.... This became really bad on my skin. Yes it has rose and quite a lot more of the violet but unfortunately it turned very bad on my skin after a few minutes.

This is brilliant! Absolutely beautiful rose creation! 10000/10!!!!! This does not remind me of anything, the rose here is a dark deep red rose, but it is sweet and I think to make a rose sweet but that it also would feel dark and mystical is basically very very hard, and here it is done to perfection! Smelling this perfume I imagine a fairytale with a dark forest late at winter's night and in the middle of it there are blooming roses, that possess some magical aspects, and if you find those roses you get some fairytale-like powers. What an amazing perfume! I wore this scent a couple of times on my wool coat and the sillage was GIVING! I could smell this perfume everywhere around me, the longevity is superb! It lasts for two days on clothing for sure, maybe even longer. I haven't stumbled into a perfume from this house that I would not simply adore. Musicology is just amazing! Thank you for amazing perfumery and scents that are not duping anything!!! Just simply a must-try for magical rose lovers!

The Rose by @musicologyparfums just shines on my skin. Delicate peonies and rose absolute make this creation undoubtedly floral and a rose explosion - but with vanilla, raspberries and the tender touch of white woods come a delicate gourmand touch. Creamy, lush and delicious undertones. Definitely rose heavy in the beginning, I would say the gourmand side and the creamy texture comes to life in the drydown - and then it is like a beautiful raspberry tart - I havent had much experience with such a floral gourmand before and I enjoy it. I am usually on the fence with gourmands as sometimes they get just too sickly sweet - but here the cold touch of the florals seem to counteract with the gourmand, fruity and creamy base and they work together splendidly.

As expected from Nathalie Lorson, an exploration of all aspects of the rose, and a fascinating journey through different interpretations of the flower, all in one scent. Opens soft and green, all buds and springtime, and then becomes the familiar rose-in-bloom scent of small boutiques stocked with fine milled soaps, well-mannered but still lush. Then my favorite stage, the spiciness of the mature rose, the "not your grandma's rose garden" stage; this rose pricks back. Finally it mellows into a vanilla, woody rose, representing the stem that's all that's left at the end of the rose's life cycle, before the green buds emerge again and it all begins anew. A must for any rose-lover or anyone who likes their roses with thorns.

Thus far this is the most beast mode fragrance that I own! It’s intoxicating in every sense. It leaves a scent trail like no other and is akin to a love potion on my skin. It just grabs attention. I only happened upon this fragrance because someone gave me a decant of Parfait de Roses. I used it all up not knowing it had been discontinued! So I made a post about my misfortune and someone told me to try Musicology’s “The Rose”. Now, while I do love this scent and would rate it a 9/10 easily! Its no Parfait de Roses which I’d give a 15/10. Parfait de Roses is probably THE best rose fragrance I’ve ever smelled however, Musicology has a definite winner on their hands with this one! Can’t wait to try more from this company!

I love the idea, I just wish the rose was not so green. If I over look it, it is a beautiful sweet soft fragrance, with great longevity and projection. Just wish the rose was more "pink".

A Nahema by Guerlain with more vanilla. That's all!
