Ford Mustang

Fresh spicy, woody, and very powdery. Super light, and versatile. Inoffensive too. It doesn't smell cheap at all, but you might need a lot of sprays to get good projection. However, it's just not my type of fragrance. It's a bit too powdery for me. Smells like an older man; someone who actually has a mustang.

Boring? Not at all... For $15, only fools would expect anything less than this level of appeal. What we get is Fierce: modern, transparent and airy, soapy and fresh, with a very distinctive fougère-barbershop scent, flawless! Woods, citruses, cool spices, flowers and a hint of machine oil make this blend thoroughly masculine. Masculine, but not macho. Not unisex at all. Elegant, restrained and sophisticated. Excellent in all situations, especially in the office, when traveling and in any situation where you don't want to attract attention, but want to enjoy your intimate bubble and make a good impression on those around you. The real name of this stuff is Ford Mustang "Pour Homme," and since Fierce is no longer in production, it may be a small consolation for fans. It's not a powerhouse, but it does last for a few hours without producing any harsh, nose-wrinkling synthetic aspects. Thanks to Ilias Ermendis for preserving the great, elegant character of Fierce and making it available for a few dollars!

If this is Ford Mustang, than Ralph Lauren Polo (Green) is a Dodge Challenger Hell Cat! If you pull the Pine, and strong Oak Moss from Polo Green I find this to have some softer similarities. They share some notes that are prominent, Basil and Bergamont, Pepper and Musk. I think the Sequoia replaces the Cedar and Oak Moss and the Violet combines with the remaining notes to create an almost leather vibe, at least that is what I get from it. Overall I quite like this one, really inexpensive and versatile. This scent makes me think that they were going for a toned down and updated version of a classic fragrance, which IMO was Polo Green. I am sure this strikes up similarities to quite a few others in this price range, most of which would be old reformulated classics of the 80's or early 90's, but this has a classic style with a modern wearable twist. I do not find this fragrance to have any of the sweetness common of today's "cheapie" offerings.

My teenage son has a deodorant that smells just like this. I always tell him it smells good but I don't want to smell like this as I am an older man. It is an ok scent for a teen since its cheap and very generic. Blind buy becomes a great teen present. I tested it about an hour ago and its already totally gone from my skin so it gets LOW marks for longevity.

Not too bad. It smells like Eternity for Men if made by Liz Claiborne, with a hint of Claiborne Sport vibe.

Its an exact replica of Wings by Giorgioa...just dialed back a bit. I like it, still!

Ford Mustang is a cheap, boring, old-fashioned men's cologne - a typical accord of wood and citric to give a clean, fresh, manly scent. To be fair, there is some depth to it, and a solid balance, so it has been well constructed by an experienced perfumer - in this case, Ilias Ermenidis - who is the nose behind similar non-profound, non-interesting, old fashioned scents such as Givenchy Pour Homme, but he hasn't put a lot of thought to it. Ford Mustang is more about the brand than the perfume. It's possible (likely?) that the brief was to aim for a familiar old-fashioned (traditional) and low cost manly cologne aimed at those with less sophistication and intelligence than average. Ford Mustang is produced by First American Brands Inc, a company formed in 2001 to exploit people's weakness for a popular brand, so they put perfumes in bottles branded with Disney, Smurfs, Dora The Explorer, Star Trek, and of course Ford Mustang, which was launched in 2007, then updated in 2019. So, the scent is clean and commercial - it will be liked by most people as it is a straight down the line fragrance with no interesting twists and turns that would be adored by some and hated by others. This is a simple inoffensive perfume for the masses - it has no style or finesse. And it is made by a company with no heritage in perfume making, who are clearly just going for the bottom line. This is not a fragrance that folks would (should?) be proud to wear. Put this in a different bottle (say, a supermarket own brand bottle), and people would recognise it for what it is. They may like its grunting simplicity and familiarity, but they wouldn't proudly say to people - "I'm wearing Woolworth's Bargain Bin Cologne". But, hey, I suppose if you buy into the Ford Mustang as a brand image (grunting simplicity with no style or finesse), then this is the fragrance for you. It generally sells at around £20 for a 100ml spray, though testers can be picked up for around £3 or £4 (if you see unboxed examples on eBay for more than £9, then they are from people who bought the testers at the lower price, and are now reselling; best to keep searching - just use the words "perfume tester ford mustang"). The bottle is a simple square shape in clear glass with the Ford Mustang logo in the centre. Very boring. Very cheap looking. Very basic. It just shouts lack of imagination and style. Positives? Yes. It is a clean, classic, manly fragrance which will appeal. I like that simple but effective marriage of woods and citric. At the base there is cedar and patchouli (or sandalwood and musk - whichever note is more redolent with you, as these scents are not pinned or precise, they are vaguely generic, which does allow some movement) which moves up through almonds and violet to oranges, bergamot, and lemon. It is likeable. It holds well, and remains approvingly close to the body (for those who don't wish to project too much, and prefer that the other person, intended lover or partner, is in intimate proximity before they become aware of the scent). Would be worn by older men and confident women as an everyday base scent to which they could add sweet, individual touches of their own - a touch of sweet patchouli oil on the wrists, and some amber on the neck, perhaps.

Not bad, for the price you can get it for. It's just a bit too synthetic for me.

A slightly spicy fresh woody smell with the violet note very evident. Not bad for an everyday home fragrance. Like many of the cheaper fragrances, I bought this as a blind buy. I paid about £8 for 100ml.

Does anyone else get the Fierce/Legend vibe from this? I haven't smelled them side by side, but that's what this smells like to me.
