Camino de Azahar

The fragrance of Camino de Azahar was created in 2014 in two versions: one aimed at the male audience and this one made for the female audience. Both are part of the collection Ecosystems - Mediterranean and celebrate the iconic orange blossom, also known as the Azahar Flower (the Arabic word for white flowers). Although depicting a luminous perfume flower, the creative concept celebrates the dances and gala parties in the ancient Mediterranean cities such as Seville (Andalusia) and Palermo (Sicily). Based on this principle, it is easier to identify the olfactory path of both fragrances, which take us back to the perfume style of the 60’s, 70’s and the beginning of the 80’s. Camino de Azahar Woman brings much of the DNA of the male version and diverges little with regard to composition. This time we have the presence of ylang-ylang in the heart of the fragrance, which ended up bringing a floral touch to the perfume. The notes of verbena, longoza, tagetes, and Rooibos tea were maintained, in the same way as the citric accord (neroli, bergamot and Iranian black lemon). The perfumer also kept the notes of wild mushrooms, honey, Damascus rose and oils of Ximenia and Yangu (the latter, obtained from the Cape chestnut, a tree native to Africa). When applied on the skin, both of the versions smell the same at a first glance. However, the evolution brings different nuances that make this fragrance behave like an oriental-citrus-floral, while the male version is more oriental-citrus-woody. On my skin, the fragrance of Camino de Azahar Woman turned out to be more sophisticated, precisely because, this time, the Damascus rose seems to have more presence and the ylang-ylang neutralized, in a way, the sour lemon smell that I felt in the male version. The dated aspect remains the same and, therefore, I continue to think that this ends up being a limiting agent with respect to the age range of the consumer. Putting this aside, it is a mysterious and elegant perfume that makes us go back in time and imagine the perfumes of the women who attended the gala balls a few decades ago.
