Mar de Cadiz

Mar de Cadiz perfume was created in 2014 in two distinct versions: one aimed for men and the other marketed as unisex. They pay homage to the beauties of Cadiz, a city located in southern Spain and bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. Mar de Cadiz Unisex has a citric, aquatic and resinous fragrance and is part of the collection called Ecosystems - Mediterranean. Its creative concept aims to transmit the natural smell of the coastal gardens of Cadiz after the autumn rains. The composition is complex and contains notes of seaweeds, cucumber, apple, eggplant, citrus fruits (grapefruit, bergamot, yuzu and Iranian black lemons), leaves of green tea, mate and Pandanus, flowers (lotus, cloves, narcissus and Indian cress), in addition to the native oils of Ximenia and Ucuuba. Again, just as happened in the Camino de Azahar Oro duo, the fragrances of Mar de Cadiz share the same DNA and if we compare the compositions, we will see that they are very similar. This time, the biggest difference is in the inclusion of grapefruit - more succulent - and the exchange of the denser notes (woods and mosses) for lighter ingredients (cucumber and apple). On the skin, the fragrance of the Mar de Cadiz Unisex is more intriguing and pleasant than the one made only for men (my opinion, of course). This is because the output is fresher and full of complexity, unlike the more common citrus scents. After all, we are talking about notes of cucumber and eggplant combined with black lemons, green tea, and mate. It is very different! On my skin, actually, the smell of mate dominates and resembles that mate mixed with lemon, which is sold on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. The evolution is not very drastic and for this reason, I do not notice great surprises as the hours go by. Mar de Cadiz Unisex is that kind of differentiated perfume that takes you to other places, makes you pay attention to the small variations that occur and, not least, shows you a huge range of opportunities when we talk about natural perfumes. Truth be told, I do not think users of more commercial fragrances will delight in this creation, which brings a combo of algae, sour lemons, flowers, and indigenous oils. There is a certain strangeness that requires an intermediate level of knowledge, which only exists for those who have had some kind of contact with the niche perfumery and their free and "outside the box” compositions. On my skin, however, Mar de Cadiz Unisex had low projection and medium duration, getting below the reached with the male version and its woody dry down. Still, it is an unusual perfume with a fragrance that I have never felt before. Eggplant, who could tell?
