Nanette

This fragrance smells amazing. Very strong initially, very warm, very comforting. I'm in shock that no one has mentioned the similarity between this and Sarah Jessica Parker's Twilight. It smells identical in terms of the scent alone, lasts longer, and is most definitely better at projecting. Funny story.... It's Feb 18th (very cold in Pennsylvania) so this would obviously be the perfect perfume for today. I had JUST gotten it in the mail a week ago and haven't worn it yet at all, let alone to work. I arrive to work at 7:50AM...about 15 minutes before my co-worker shows up. She is Hispanic and grew up in a household with no perfumes. She never wears perfume and if she does, it's one spray so you can never smell her. On top of that...she's very picky. She thinks a lot of perfumes are too strong, too weak, too intrusive, or just plain old...the smell itself doesn't smell good. Well today, I walk in to work and she had JUST turned the corner of where our desks are...she had to have been standing at LEAST 6 feet away from me and she immediately said "Good morn...WOW! THAT SMELLS GOOD!" Exactly like that lol. I almost shit my pants. Even the fragrances that she doesn't think are offensive...she never declares how "good" anything smells lol. So that in itself really speaks to the quality of this perfume. I mostly smell the insense note and amber. The violet and rose take a backseat (but rightfully so in the perfect quantity) and the lily of the valley I do not get at all. Anyway, this fragrance is amazing. In regards to longevity...it was 7:45AM that I sprayed this on myself and it is now 1:15PM as I'm writing this and its probably only projecting about one foot but hey...5.5 hours later and still going strong is still decent to me considering that it smells amazing and I bought a 1.0oz bottle for $15 on Ebay. Considering that, I'm guessing i'll get 7-8 hours of it but undoubtedly will pass the 6 hour mark. I just ordered my second bottle to stock up. I do wish they made the standard 3.4 ounce bottle of this beauty but ill make do with several smaller bottles. Anyway, love love LOVE this scent! Deff recommended for autumn and winter wear. Not sure if it would be cloying in the summer, but I may give it a try in the Spring when it is warm and not scorching hot as this is already a "hot" perfume itself. Scent itself - 9 Longevity - 9 Sillage - 9 Overall score - 9/10 Haven't tried any of the other perfumes from this line, but this one alone has convinced me that I probably should. THUMBS UP BIG TIME!!

Just today I met Nanette... I first got a whiff of florals and vanilla .. almost tonka bean too. She came on strong and bold yet, soft like sugared powder. I got fancy visions of Candied violets, of luxurious powderooms where cosmetics ruled, of plush Persian carpets which hushed the sound of high heels and organza dresses.. oh oh.. whimsical again.. sorry in advance. :D She simply crawled in my brain and stayed there. Nanette is not to be ignored! It is the best amber based oriental fragrance I have ever owned. She is lovely, warm , sweet as honey and dripping with gold and crystal. The incense is a note i enjoy greatly and in Nanette, I find it mellow and somehow sacred. She holds no bitterness, she lingers forever and becomes creamy, rich and presents a buttery-ricey note that warms the woods up greatly. Long lasting and ever so classy, she is a great addition to my collection and her elegant bottle is ever so gorgeous! The crystal reflects the manyfold nature of Nanette: the wearer. As someone mentionned, she does seem to change often, as if the scent pyramid was constructed around the eternity concetp: from top to base then back to the top.. I personally will fold myself in her amber cover of woodsy honey this fall xxx btw: This beauty is described as a creamy turkish delight by Katie Putrick and I agree! Indeed a very rich, mysterious floral-amber with oriental vibes and a creamy rose jam drydown!

Nanette was an instant LOVE for me; to my nose, it's stunning!!! It comes across first as an orangey amber, with a little pink pepper and resembles the lovely Ted Lapidus White Soul -- but that's only the beginning. As it dries down, a beautiful, lightly smoky incense appears -- a very subtle incense as opposed to, say, the super-strong incense of Comme des Garcons Avignon. This is followed by a sweet, powdery, "feminine" rose a la Valentino Donna. Nanette is simultaneously delicate and opulent, continuously revealing these three (at least!) aspects all through the wearing. My only minor complaint is that I wish it projected a bit more, but it's so lovely I'll take it just as it is, surrounding me with the most beautiful, elegant, warm scent bubble. I can't quite think of a scent that plays with these particular notes all at once as Nanette does, so I find it quite unique, as well. I have to say that I'm surprised that I hadn't heard about this gorgeous scent before; in fact, it never would've been on my radar were I not scrolling through the $30 and under bottles on the Walmart site! Uncharacteristically, a day after receiving my bottle, I went ahead and purchased 2 backup bottles for $15 apiece (FragranceX), so, on top of everything else, it's a total bargain. <3 PS -- I do not find any resemblance to Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir. EL SN is much sweeter and more sandalwood-y, in my opinion.

I bought this today and at first spritz I had that rare experience (for me, anyway) of feeling like I'd smelled *exactly* this scent before. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out what could have triggered such a strong scent association, without success. Then, halfway through cooking dinner (sometimes the heat and steam from the oven causes my perfumes to 'bloom'), it hit me - on my skin Nanette smells almost exactly like the solid shampoo 'Jason and the Argan Oil' from LUSH! It's rose, rose and more rose on my skin (a pretty bracing rose, actually, with a hint of cedar, but none of the amber or violet others are smelling). Incidentally, the LUSH shampoo bar is supposed to smell like their popular Rose Jam perfume and bubble bath. I know Rose Jam has a bit of a fan following and since it was a limited edition, this might be a potential substitute. EDIT: This is one of those fragrances that does much better when allowed to develop on the skin, rather than on paper or clothing, or judged at first sniff. I still think it smells like Rose Jam, but the drydown is softer than I expected, creamy and almost nutty - I can definitely see comparisons to the host of loukhoum fragrances out there. It has a sort of dense 'chewiness' that I didn't expect from the opening blast of rose. Nice. It's also quite persistent - a quick spritz before bed and I'm still smelling it at lunch the next day.

Nanette by Nanette Lepore is an unheralded wonder! There's a light sweetness to the incense (rather than a smokey feel) that emphasizes the loveliness of pale pink roses seamlessly blended with the tang of cedar and a milky, woody subtle violet with hints of almond (although there is actually no almond note) that all combine as something truly beautiful. Longevity is 6-8 hours and people stop me to ask the name of the gorgeous fragrance I'm wearing -- you simply cannot go wrong! If you find a bottle that includes the pink & black zippered train case you'll find it a nice bonus. The body lotion is also lovely and increases the longevity of the fragrance by another 2-4 hours. Edit A: a kind member sent me a sample of Barbara Bui and the drydown is identical to Nanette but Nanette lasts hours longer. If you have Nanette you need not add BB to your collection. Edit B: I blind bought a bottle of Estee Lauder's Sensuous Noir and returned it the next day after discovering it seemed like a bitter imitation of Nanette, and believe me, I couldn't have been more surprised! I did a wrist-to-wrist comparison when I brought home the SN and repeated it the next morning with identical results.

I saw this on sale and read the reviews, decided to purchase it to cheer myself up in such gloomy days. I read the many rose comments and was sold, I find cedarwood to be so sexy, the incense must also add grace to this scent. I will update my review soon, may the roses be with you. Very, very nice, rosey, you can sense the cedar mingling with the incense to create a very romantic, strong background with the rose, pink pepper and violet making such a lovely floral scent. The amber keeps it light, sweet and pleasant, a sort of vanillic resin touch over the whole smokey, cedary rose. The peppers add juicy vivaciousness to the rose, the perfume is strong, it is a perfume, I just love anything with cedar on it, it very mature and strong. Overall would say it is a thumbs up, a very solid fragrance that has maturity, character but also romance, and sweetness. A great little find, and on sale. I just purchased this last week. Now that I've had it a few days to get to know this beautiful perfume I can say that I loved it from the start and couldn't stop smelling my wrist! But I was also feeling nostalgic and haunted by the fact that it reminded me soooo much of something else in my collection. This smells like 70% Rochas Absolu and 30% Armani Emporio Diamonds. I become obsessed with Absolu every fall, but I think I like Nanette just a little better because of the incense note which turns Nanette into something of a mysterious enigma of a scent. Just beautiful. LOVE it!!! My husband gave me a compliment too so this is a keeper. So glad I added this little gem to my collection!

A very pretty and pleasant surprise. This was a blind buy for me, I found a 1 oz. at TJ Maxx for $10 and took a chance. It's a warm, cozy scent, a nice amber/incense made feminine and inviting by the liberal dose of rose and a hint of violet. This is one of those fragrances that keeps me leaning down to my wrist to catch whiffs; some moments it seems girlish and sweet with the rose and violet seeming to dominate, other moments it smells sensual as I catch more of the incense. I'm very happy I took a chance on this, it's a nice balance of a few notes I wouldn't have thought I'd love together, but do.

On opening Nanette seems like it could be a delicate scent w pink rose, anise & spice, very promising.. gets more billowy & lush 30min in.. really nice rose-anise scent here, but mostly I don't like the flavor of pink roses done so vanilla-sweet. It reminds me of Cacharel Gloria's base (boozy cherry w the rose, much better than this bright pink rose). Also similar to Tocade, as a billowy vanillic rose, but Nanette's sweetness seems more hi-pitched. The rose is generic pink & sweet at the drydown, to my nose. ..but if I was out of Gloria, I'd try layering this with Delices!

I LOVE Nanette ! It's soft, gently sweet, slightly woody, rich, lightly powdery, with very gentle peppery spices. Beautiful sweet amber glows in this fragrance, enveloping the delicate sweet incense and soft wood ! Florals are beautifully blended, graceful, enticing, making Nanette totally feminine. Used together with the matching body lotion, Nanette lasts until you wash it off. Wears close to skin. What a beauty ! Yes, similar to Estee Lauder's Sensuous Noir, Nanette is lighter in feel, great for day or night. Silage is moderate to soft, longevity great !

This one received mixed feedback but I absolutely love it. I have the roller-ball and am desperately seeking a bottle. Not sure if Silk Way by Ted Lapidus will fit the bill as a replacement, although it's listed above. Thoughts on that? Nanette on me develops into a spicy and balsamic cocoon and stays with me throughout the day/night. Some notes remind me of La Perla's J'aime La Nuit, too. I think that I mainly detect the amber, incense and cedar. But the scent basically melds into my skin so it's tough to say. Big "love" from me!

Oh My Goodness! I love this perfume! It is simply perfect. The deliciousness of it is unmatched! I first smelled the rose, not a bright dewy rose, but a smoldering rose with a little spice and pepper laying on the petals. I received this as a gift today and I simply wanted to cry it was such a beautiful gift! I had smelled this on a friend and was intending to buy my own but she beat me to it by gifting me a large bottle along with a lotion. I am so happy right now!!!!!! Simply lovely!

I love the neroli and pink pepper opening! The violet is prominent in the heart, but I couldn't stop smelling my wrist on the dry-down. It's the "hot cedar wood" that has me hooked. I love it. Update: It's better in cold weather than in warm, but I easily spritzed through my whole bottle in one year. It's so easy to wear and the base is very creamy, comforting, and just the right amount of "woody" for an oriental floral.

If I say so myself, I smell wonderful when I wear this. I don't get incense in this, mostly I get a smooth musk, which isn't even listed in the notes. I got many compliments with this, but each person smelled something different. One said she smelled rose, another the lily-of-the-valley, and still another smelled the neroli. It's like a chameleon the way the scent changed.

Lovely! It's a gorgeous perfume. Lovely, slightly spicy amber, with beautiful flowers - rose and lily-of-the-valley - gentle and delicate, soft and alluring. I think is a lovely, sweet, comforting, feminine perfume. Beautiful amber, and incense, and woods, as well as the lovely violet and neroli and pink pepper. Really a beautiful perfume. I love it. Gorgeous bottle too.

Received this in a swap from a great fragrantican!! WOW I LOVE this scent so much! It was actually a blind swap as well, as I went mostly by the notes and reviews. I really think its one of my new favourite scents!!! It's warm, woody and a tad sweet on my skin, very cozy & inviting!! I just love it! Very happy with this gem! Not to mention the very pretty bottle! :-)

I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance! I was convinced that there were fruity notes in it because it seemed so sweet. The pink peppercorn remained steady well into the woodsy drydown. The peppercorn is what makes this fragrance very interesting. I don't really get incense in the base notes, only vanilla. I would buy this one if it lasted longer.

Nanette is one of those gems when you can't stop wondering why is it so inexpensive for being such good quality. I would describe it as warm, sexy and mysterious ...a wonderful combination of incensy rose and amber. Great lasting power and sillage. Highly recommended for oriental floral lovers who prefer perfume with more depth!

incensey, mysterious and unbelievably sexy. that's all you need to know. out of allllllll my many perfumes, this receives the most compliments. i like to wear this on midsummer days and nights, especially when i go to the flea market. the mystical music and vintage surroundings meld well with this gorgeous perfume.
