BURNED RUBBER AND WET TARMAC SCENT, NOT ONLY FOR MOTOR RACING FANS Hot rubber and burnt oil are the smells of a race track. The smell of fuel that burns the pipes and exhaust heads at more than 200 mph, mixes with the burning aroma of the tires when they hit the asphalt violently. That smell reminds me of my childhood on several race tracks. It was a unique scent that floated through the tented workshops behind the pits. I used to sit in the stands with my sisters and my father, to watch the races and the dynamics of the assistance teams. The smell could be felt a mile away. The race cars were lined up for the start and started heating the engine with the forced fuel supply. That yellowish smoke filled the air, and the lungs and burned everyone's eyes. This perfume was also the portrait of the team's mechanics, with their dirty overalls after a long day of effort rebuilding an engine after each training round. It was the smell of tire friction on the tar when the rubber scraped at over 300 K / h. The horns announced the approaching start of the race. The cars heated the tires on the launch lap and made the car squeal. The smoke was spreading with the touches of the accelerator pedal. That smell filled the cockpits, the runway and the benches. That acre of CO2 and rubber grew with each lap of the race. The cars got darker, dirty with sprayed rubber, and full of dust from the clutch. I also remember the smell of a victory after a long day of struggle and the celebration on the winners' podium in front of the whole team. When I was a child, I smelled all this for the first time and never forgot that intoxicating sensation. For Him EdT by Narciso Rodriguez... This is a strange and unique fragrance. The opening is odd. It smells like a motor racing track with heavy traffic under shallow rain. It has a vibe of rubber-burned tires on the wet tarmac. It's deep, mysterious, a bit smoky, a bit dark and very sexy. It's like reviving the first Ayrton Senna F1 victory, driving a JPS Lotus in the Estoril wet tarmac. This perfume attracts a lot of the opposite sex's attention due to its uniqueness. It may be the violet note, together with the lavender and the musk, to provoke the opening accord. It's just very alluring. The musky drydown is one of the best I have ever experienced. It's a very very manly perfume. Racing drivers, lumberjacks and firefighters must use this fragrance all the time. Let us see what the maths tell us about this intense manly EdT: ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Opening: 8.5 (smell of a wet racing track; It's probably due to a floral violet note; it's not so different from the Fahrenheit gasoline vibe, with some burnt rubber and wet concrete added) Scent drydown: 9.0 (divine musk) Longevity: 8.5 (above average for the existing notes but not bestial; up to 8 hours with 2 sprays) Sillage: 8.5 (up to 7 feet with 2.5 hours projection) Uniqueness: 10.0 (due to the burned rubber scent, it remembers me of Encre Noir but without being similar to it) Wearability: 7.5 (Winter, Autumn, Night) Versatility: 7.5 (yes to socializing, events, formal encounters, night out, restaurants...) After Using it for more that 30 times in different occasions I think these few words can describe this fragrance: 1- Classic 2- Unique 3- Green 4- Dirty 5- Dark 6- Complex I heard a lot about this perfume and I was intrigued to try it. From the first minute I fell in live with this one. It reminds you the old fragrances but it doesn't smell old. It's better to say that it smells classic and at the same time it's modern. Few minute after applying you will smell the mixture of heavy scents of patchouli and violet leaf. After that these two will go down and the musk and amber will appear. First half to one hour can be pungent for some people but after that the mixture of green smell of violet leaf; earthy, creamy scent of patchouli; warmth and sweetness of amber and a little powdery, woodsy musk will make a very strange scent which is so beautiful. It reminds me of humid jungle after a rain. Pay attention to three things: 1- It’s suitable for cold days. In warm days you will get green notes in the first 15 minute and after that the scent will shift to middle notes and you will have heavy amber scent for 5 hours. In summer it doesn't stay on the skin and after 4 to 5 hours it will fade away (at least from my skin) but in autumn and winter it is so beautiful especially in rainy days and it will stay on your skin for more than 10 hours. 2- It’s sillage monster. When you apply it people will notice you. 3- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUT DO NOT BLIND BUY IT. It’s that kind of fragrance that divide people to two group. You are going to like it or hate it. بعد از بیش از 30 نوبت استفاده از این عطر در شرایط مختلف فکر میکنم با کلمات کمی بهتر بتونم وصفش کنم: 1- کلاسیک 2- خاص 3- سبز 4- کثیف و خاک آلود 5- تاریک 6- پیچیده در موردش خیلی شنیده بودم و وسوسه شدم امتحانش کنم. از اولین لحظه ای که تستش کردم شیفته اش شدم. یادمه برای تست یه سری عطر رفته بودم فروشگاه میثم تو خیابون میرداماد و این رو روی کاغذ تست دریافت کردم. یادمه تا دو روز کاغذ تسترش دم دستم بود و مدام بوش می کردم تا بعد از دو روز رفتم خریدمش. بوش شبیه به بوی عطرهای قدیمی هست ولی بوی قدیمی نمیده و در عین حال که کلاسیک هست بوی جدید و به روزی داره. بعد از اینکه به خودتون اسپری کنید تا چند دقیقه اول بوی نعنای هندی و برگ گل بنفشه میده که هر دوشون بوی خیلی سبزی دارند. بعد از اون بوی این دو ضعیف تر میشه و بوی مشک و کهربا مشخص میشه. شاید نیم ساعت تا یک ساعت اول برای بعضی ها آزار دهنده باشه اما بعد از اون مخلوط بوی سبز برگ گل بنفشه، بوی کرمی و خاکی نعنای هندی، گرما و شیرینی کهربا و بوی پودری و چوبی که گاها توی مشک هست یک بوی خاص و عجیب رو ایجاد میکنه که خیلی هم قشنگه. منو یاد یه جنگل مرطوب بعد از بارون می ندازه. فقط به سه تا مسئله توجه داشته باشید: 1- این عطر برای روزهای سرد مناسبه. تو روزهای گرم تو پانزده دقیقه اول بو های سبز رو استشمام می کند و بعد از اون بوی عطر به سرعت وارد نت های میانی میشه و برای حدود 5 ساعت فقط بوی کهربا و مشک هست که استشمام میشه. در ضمن تو تابستون بیشتر از 4 تا 5 ساعت روی پوست نمی مونه (حداقل روی پوست من که اینطوره) اما در پاییز و زمستون بوی خیلی قشنگی داره مخصوصا اگر تو روزهای بارونی ازش استفاده کنید. تو روزهای سرد حدود 10 ساعت روی پوست باقی می مونه. 2- این عطر پخش بوی خیلی بالایی داره. وقتی استفاده کنید همه متوجه میشن یکی عطر زده پس زیاد اسپری نکنید 3- به شدت پیشنهاد میشه ولی تست نکرده نخرید. این از اون جمله عطرهایی هست که آدم ها رو به دو دسته تقسیم می کنه. یا ازش خوشتون میاد یا بدتون میاد

Holy shinola! This is....HEAVY! I received my 5ml sample today...and...this is the first scent that has ever imparted a feeling of... Claustrophobia? Smotheredness? It smells good...don't get me wrong...but it smells like...dead? Like...flowers that smelled great at one point...but died...and are decomposing. This cologne reminds me of...beauty and purity...lost. Where Delirium was once Delight...before the fall...now she is lost...vestiges of the floral happiness she once was linger under the waves of sour bitterness. Again, I absolutely LOVE this scent...but holy shinola...this is kinda throwin off my balance. I was afraid, at first, that it would smell like "Girl" by Pharrell Williams. And while it does have kinda that scent-dna...it doesn't get to the point of being nauseating like "Girl" does. No no....It smells like someone threw the entire Amazon Rain Forest into one of those wood-choppers and then caught it all in a bottle...some kinda mixture of freshly chopped green plants, freshly killed animals and rain-soaked dirt. What the heck is this stuff? I would love to know how someone came up with this fragrance...this is simply...A_M_A_Z_I_N_G!!!! 09SEP21 First "Rainy Day" wear, just getting to the lab from picking up breakfast. This scent definitely turns heads...good and bad. While I had 2 young women chat me up...a third, older woman, was very visibly turned-off (to put it nicely) by the scent. She didn't say anything...but her face said it all. Overall, this scent performs MUCH better outside for me. I think that indoors, it was just too confined and couldn't develop. Now that I've been outside and now in the lab, it smells completely less harsh...but still just as powerful. I put one shot on each forearm because I wasn't sure if I would need to wash it off. I think I'm gonna be okay... I already blind-bid on a full bottle yesterday and that will be on it's way to me on Saturday if I win. This scent is definitely a KEEPER! (In small doses...don't overspray!) (4 hours later...) Hmmm...slight problem. After the abundant florals wear off...it leaves this super-heavy bitter and choking musk scent on the skin. I guess that's the mixture of the musk and patchouli, but it burns like furniture polish in my nose. Reminds me of a perfume my mom wore back in the late 80's...But I can fix that by re-applying...at least for today. Next time I'll wear more sprays and this won't be an issue until well after I return home. Again, I did spray this on my inner forearms and if it were on my chest I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue as I would not be able to get my nose right up on it to smell it.

I ordered a bunch of random samples from Surrender to Chance and put this one on without looking. I wanted interesting fall perfumes, and I was drawn to the descriptions of Narciso for Him as rainy and moody. What I put onto my skin was so immediately sweet and lighthearted that I was genuinely surprised when I looked at the tube I'd used. I've seen a few people describe this as off-putting, cold, and objectively manly, but the vibe I'm getting from this is pretty, femme, and extremely wearable. For a bit, I wondered if I'd actually gotten the wrong sample, but violet and musk are in so many feminine perfumes that it makes sense. There's a vague fruitiness to the whole thing that, on first sniff, reminded me of one of my all-time favorite perfumes, DS & Durga's Debaser. That's marketed as a hot summer day perfume though, so with that in the back of my mind as I smell Narciso for Him, I'm not at all thinking, "cold, moody night." So while I'm scratching my head a little, and still kind of wondering if I got the wrong perfume, I chalk it up to the subjectivity of scent memory. In any case, it's beautiful, and I absolutely see myself wearing it often. EDIT 1/7/22: My relationship to scent has evolved quite a bit in just the few months since I wrote this! There's so much chaos in the outside world that it's been really easy to get swept up in perfume. I devoured my tiny sample of Narciso for Him so fast, and it didn't take me very long to understand how this reads as moody and masculine. I was so repeatedly enticed by its thick, but subtly sweet atmosphere that I knew I had to get a full bottle, especially since it was discontinued. I just opened my new bottle, and this scent is immediately deeper, greener, and eventually a little funkier coming out of a spray applicator. It felt like watching a beloved movie on a big screen for the first time, bigger and louder. I couldn't really pick up the patchouli or amber when I applied from my sample vial, but I totally get it now. I don't feel like the violet leaf dominates it quite as long in a higher dose, and it's easily my favorite note in this, so that's kind of a bummer. But I can absolutely envision a cold, grimy, film noir landscape when I wear this. I don't think it's all too much for daytime or warm weather though. I'm impressed by how much this conveys with just four notes, and I'm thrilled to own a bottle of this one-of-a-kind scent.

Previously reviewed this based on a sample which I loved & ended up purchasing a bottle discounted. Now after wearing this consistently from November to April, I'm back to write a more in-depth review. To clear things up once and for all to those reviewers below - Yes, this has been discountinued and was removed from the Narciso website awhile ago. I was able to grab a bottle not long after the discontinuation and it was on sale too. Now it seems too much time has passed and people are jacking up the prices on eBay & other sites. After sampling this, I knew I had to buy a bottle. This scent is incredibly unique and unlike other mens offerings I have tried. The musk definitely takes the center stage but it's the violet leaf that actively gives this the airy & damp quality that people have described. The patchouli definitely plays a part in the 'wet leaf' and earthy feel as well. The projection & longevity are both moderate to strong/long lasting. One thing I often noticed after spraying this on clothes is that the patchouli is very prominent the next day. The amber I don't pick up on, but that could be because I have a hard time isolating amber as a note. I am really having a hard time understanding why this was discontinued, but I think it has something to do with its versatility - this is not a year-round, every occasion type of fragrance and it's certainly an acquired taste. I can understand the references to this having a 'somber' feel, but to me this is a perfect rainy day scent when you just want to embrace the gloom. As I said before, the true testament to this fragrance is the vivid evocations this inspires among people - the visions of industrial grit, to strolling in damp woods, or simply curled up at a fireplace on a crisp day. The beauty of a fragrance speaks for itself when it evokes such thoughts and that is effective perfumery to me. I have tried Bleu Noir and every flanker up until the new Parfum and not one of them has left a signficant impression on me. The entire BN line is simply uninspired and I was left extremely disappointed after falling in love with this one. I am not sure what the plans are for the house of Narciso but now that they released the Parfum I am hoping that will be the bookend to the BN line & they will introduce a new mens line that is actually creative and unique.

What is this thing we call Narciso Rodriguez for him? First of all, I bought this perfume two or three times ten years ago. At that time, I was just transitioning from designer perfumes to Niche and artistic perfumes. But the name of Francis Kurikjan on one hand and the definition of dear Icarus on the other hand, along with the fact originated from a proverb that "musk is what you smell, not what the perfumer says" made me fascinated by this perfume. A perfume that walks in the borders of Niche and designer, and honestly, with all its simplicity, it has the complexities of Niche's artistic perfume. Tonight, after about ten years, I bought it again, especially because the case was vintage and old. If I want to describe it briefly, I will say the same thing that I said years ago with its first test. Imagine waking up one spring morning in late May and sitting on the cement platform of a villa where the air is full of cleanliness and this newly made cement platform has just been watered and smells like watered cement. Now, you have poured some excellent white musk on the same watered cement platform, and next to you in the garden, violet buds have bloomed, and a little smell of violets and watered cement and musk are mixed in the spring air. At the same time, a little beyond the dry wood of the trunk of a stout tree that you have been using for a long time as a log for chopping firewood in the garden, it has become damp with the rain of the previous nights and there is a slight smell of moisture and wood in the air. But all these smells fade away in front of the delicate attack of rotten cement and musk and maybe a little violet. With this masterpiece, everything is great, except that I hope the people of Gaza will be freed from the pain and suffering of the massacre and the misery that has been brought upon them, and that peace and tranquility will return to Gaza. otherwise, despite the death of thousands of innocent children and the starvation of millions of civilians, Palestinian and Lebanese, even good perfumes do not give us peace.

An epitaph written on the tombstone of a forgotten poet. Redolent of abandoned places and moments of reflection and profound melancholy, this wistful masterpiece, which has unfortunately been discontinued and so needlessly supplanted by its vastly inferior copy “For Him Bleu Noir“, remains the crown jewel of this house known for musk-based perfumes. There is something spectral in this fragrance, from its unassuming grey flacon with a simple black cap to its tendency to cling to the skin, like a spectre clings to the world of the living through echoes and soft whispers. Each doleful shade of this fragrance tells a story of love, loss and longing. The opening is opulent, ozonic and rainy, evocative of an Autumn evening spent reading poetry at an abandoned graveyard, among crumbling, moss-covered tombstones. And then, by the grave of a poet, a haunting violet bursts from the sodden ground, as if the skeletal hand from underneath wants me to find beauty in this deathly blossom and the fragrant notes it bore with its ghostly grace. Lavish floral notes of violet entwine with the sombre hint of incense from the chapel and cascade into the aroma of damp earth and stone. As the inky night descends, the fragrance of the fine, leather-bound tome transports me to a time long forgotten. And the poet's words bloom like roses, fragrant and thorny and black as night. The violet bleeds out, leaving only faint whispers as mementos of its quiet departure from this world. Accompanied by soft, flowery musk, I stroll through the garden of lost souls, embraced by wreathes of ivy and memories of lives, dreams and romances, all withered and crumbling into dust. The only thing that remains is the scent of fine leather encasing old, sallow paper and the whispered verses intended for a loved one long since dead.

I always thought that I had already reviewed this one, it turns out that I haven't. I realised that this was going to be discontinued a couple of years ago, when it disappeared from lots of retail stores, appearing available only online. My story with this one is quite interesting, I received a sample of it circa 2011 but I didn't like it a lot. I sprayed a lot of it on me though and went out for a coffee with a friend who couldn't stop telling me how great I smell. This happened again and again with lots of people so I decided to buy a full bottle. Everyone was going crazy with this one - for some reason though I wasn't extremely keen on wearing it. It is a great perfume, a bit moody, a bit sad, a bit old-fashioned, it is a wet cement kind of perfume, maybe the perfect autumn / rainy day perfume someone can wear, but to be honest I never completely fell in love with it. I finished 3 or 4 bottles though over the next couple of years and I always enjoyed the compliments it gathered. Years passed and at some point I stopped wearing it but for some reason I decided to revisit it today, only to find out the this is indeed discontinued. I think it was the perfect time to give it a review. It is sad that this is gone forever - it is so special, so different and so moody, so well balanced, so rich, a true niche release. I am happy I am left with a few ml on my 100ml bottle just to revisit it from time to time and remember how great perfumery once was.

I just wanted to say that this doesn't really smell much like Givenchy Xeryus Rouge at all as the user eaudemale states in his "review", to me they're completely different fragrances but I guess what I would say is that initially when I didn't have them side by side during my initial testing I thought that there was more of a similarity than there actually is, and indeed there is something vague that reminds me of that peppery note off the top in Xeryus Rouge. That's pretty much where the similarities end though as the Givenchy is creamier and becomes almost bubblegummy in the mid. It doesn't feature that musk or violet leaf the way that Narciso for Him does, not even close, and ultimately this DOES remind me a lot more of Dior's Fahrenheit because of that combination. I'm gonna have to give this more wearings in order to get the full vibe of this though, but I really like this a lot. As a fan of Fahrenheit and other violet and musk heavy masculine fragrances like those, this is pretty much an instant crush for me and I feel like I'm gonna be wearing this a lot. Only thing about this is that it's far too expensive unless you get a good deal on it or you're willing to go without a cap as the testers are considerably cheaper but they don't come with caps. I was able to find a good deal on a non-tester fortunately, but it seems like these are heading well over $100 per bottle and that's just not worth it.

This fragrance is one hell of an experience. Masterfully created. My journey with this fragrance started with bemusement confusion dislike... probably in part because I think I got a suspect off bottle which I returned (I’m now confident in the freshness of my current bottle). Upon returning my original I couldn’t get the scent out of my head. The note evolution and emotions evoked by this fragrance chime perfectly with my experience as an Englishman... the opening places me immediately in an overcast summer day, mid-day in a wild meadow field of soaking wet flowers and hay after a thunderous downpour. Pollen is in the thick warm muggy air. There is melancholy to such a summer day full of promise which has turned to wet drizzle (that quintessential British summer experience). I don’t get the wet concrete or pavement associations. The scent is not linear to my nose. It evolves away from the violet leaf opening and into a supremely clean musky dry down with impressive longevity. I cannot recommend this enough. Beautiful, floral musk, strong, masculine. Quite an ‘art-fragrance’. Enjoy! Edit: wearing on the skins brings out the muskiness much more prominently and rapidly than a paper test - this muskiness takes centre stage over the floral elements. Also, Ive concluded there is nothing depressing or downcast about this fragrance. Just full on masculine floral musk.

Ive owned this for a few months now and can say that this is one of my favorite scents of all time. With over 70 bottles in my collection I just keep reaching for it. To me its a "Wow scent". I just kept saying "Wow" to myself after my first experience with it. I love to write wordy, detailed reviews but there's nothing that can be said about this scent which hasn't been said in the couple hundred or so prior reviews. I will just confirm what many have already written which is this scent is a MASTERPIECE of HUGE proportions and yes it does have a concrete like vibe to it. But when people said that in the past I was expecting something totally different. This smells like concrete if it were sweetly perfumed...lol...What I love about it is it's fresh and dense at the same time which is why it's an extremely versatile fragrance that you can pull off in all 4 seasons. If u are a fan of smelling unique then open up a new tab and BLIND buy this scent NOW...It lasts, it projects and is another scent which is the Fragrance collector's dream...Something which should be far more exclusive being sold at an accessible price. Sunny hot summer day. Thunderstorm quickly rolls and the skies open up. Rain hits the hot concrete. That's Narciso Rodriguez for Him. Wow this is good stuff. Like others have said the violet, patchouli and musk blended together work wonders for the ozonic/ earthy and rain on hot concrete scent. When people on forums ask for a petrichor fragrance recommendation, I always recommend this one. It's very one dimensional; the opening stays put through to the drydown. But that's ok because I can't stop sniffing my arm and chest where I sprayed it. I don't want it to transform. When I think of earthy, I think of something like this not Encre Noire (like everyone else). The problem of course is if you want it, you'll have to pay through the nose and deal with questionable sellers on ebay. It's really too bad this is discontinued and 'replaced' with flanker Narciso Rodriguez Him Bleu Noir. I'm not a fan of vetiver as it just reminds me of old lady perfumes and dislike the synthetic smelling cardamom they tend to use in designer 'spicy' fragrances (like the opening of Azzaro Wanted by Night/ The Most Wanted....🤢). Andromeda's Curse Tempestarii's opening smells very similar to this but without the musk. But for me dries down to a soapy type smell.

Impossible to tell how much of this beauty I still have in what has to be the most opaque, impenetrable with the naked eye, bottle I have in my collection. At least 60% I hope, because I have barely worn it over the years. It's one of those I wear to indulge myself, and often on a whim. As I learn more about fragrances and their creators it's quite plain to see Francis Kurkdjian as a premier niche perfumer. No doubting this is a "niche" (acquired) scent under a designer label. I might not enjoy everything Francis Kurkdjian has done, but Narciso Rodriguez For Him is one of the highlights of his illustrious career. There is no other fragrance I have gotten my nose on that smells like this one. The violet and patchouli stuns you at first with a chemical blast, then quietens not long after as the musk and amber folds into the mix. Unique, comforting, dreamy, beautiful. The quintessential original. I've noticed it gets slightly brighter, cooler and sweeter as it gets to the six or seven hour mark, almost as if there's a hint of fruit in there somewhere. Perhaps that's a combination of my body chemistry and the dry-down. Every phase of For Him is a special, intoxicating experience.

To say this fragrance is a mood would be an understatement. This is a brooding storm cloud in a bottle. It's a rainy afternoon in the city. It's the smell of an airport on an early spring overcast day, when the air is misty, wet clumps of melting snow are on the ground in patches, the sun is hidden behind thick grey clouds, and everything is wet. It is easily one of the most masculine floral fragrances I've smelt so far, right up there with Dior's Fahrenheit, of which there certainly are similarities between them. But, while Fahrenheit has a sort of extroverted confidence to it, NRFH is the polar opposite -- wearing more ethereal and introspective. The bottle itself, with that grey cap, the grey paint covering the interior, and the transparent exterior, really is a perfect representation of what you get with this fragrance. NRFH is definitely not what I'd consider a safe fragrance; you will get mixed reactions, from people that think it smells nice, to people who think it smells like a petrol slick on concrete. Still, the artistry in this fragrance cannot be denied, and if you can appreciate that, then it is beautiful.

I would describe Narciso Rodriguez For Him EDT as something like a wet cement scent (or an exposed aggregate sidewalk which has just been rained on) in combination with aromatic cucumber and musky patchouli. To me, both Amouage "Portrayal Man" and "Bracken Woman" have a similarity with it in their own respective ways, but mostly having to do with the musky patchouli aspect of them. I like Narciso Rodriguez For Him EDT a lot: it's one of my favorite fragrances, and I stocked up on it about two years ago when I first heard that it's discontinued. However, I unfortunately didn't get a bottle of the EDP when it was still very affordable and available (I never even got to try the EDP). I'm under the impression that some of the last bottles of the EDT which were sold by discounters might have a leaky collar. I ended up with two bottles which had a leaky collar, but only a very small amount had leaked out. I kept them anyway, and I'll gladly use them up. Also, I wouldn't describe the EDT as depressing. Rather, I'd describe it as gentlemanly, somewhat classic-leaning, and something for old men, but I like it a lot.

The fragrance is indeed as many say, a masterpiece. It is a musky floral scents. You can really make out the violet in it. Imagine the rain has just ended and the world is a mellow gloomy; there is a field of dandelions with raindrops sprinkled upon them. The scent to me is as of you had taken a dandelion and crushed it in-between your fingers, bringing out a literaly bitter-sweet scent. I can see this being worn for formal occasions where one could be wearing a suit. Also I do not get the "wet cement" vibe. Longevity -9.3/10 (15 hours before disappearing on my skin) Projection - 7.7/10 ( nothing crazy but it still does project an arm's length) Scent -9/10 (very unique and pleasing) Bottle design -9/10 (beautiful and simple) Sillage - 8/10 Overall 8.9/10 Side note - I believe I smelt azzaro onyx at Burlington once and it smelled pretty similar, while it did not have the dandelion vibe, it gave off the same musk and the same earthy green spice. P.S. this was a blind buy and a successful one at that. I believe the price is to rise soon as it is discontinued and it is sold out on most discounters

One of the greatest designers ever released. This gem is completely overlooked and now it is (apparently) discontinued! I can NOT believe it! Things like H24 get released and marketed as "the next big thing" in masculine perfumery, being one of the cheapest and most synthetic smelling fragrance, I came across in a very long time; while this gem is getting discontinued... What the hell is going on in this whole industry? It is going down the drain. Imagine Fahrenheit without the gasoline and leather note, add more violet leaves, and add the smell of fresh cut grass and wet concrete, plus an ozonic quality. That is basically what this perfume smells like. Sounds weird? It actually is - in the best way possible. There is no other fragrance out there which smells anything close like this, VERY avantgarde perfumery. The performance is also very good. Nothing nuclear, however with one spray on the chest I am good to go for the day. Perfect as an every day scent, between October and April - if the temperature is on the rise, it gets very cloying. Get it while you can.

Holler! One of the greatest men's fragrances ever made IMHO. Its has been discontinued, but I managed to get my hands on a tester 2014 batch. Also one of the most unique scents ever made for gents. The initial burst is fresh bouquet of violet leaves which transitions into an irresistible blend of musk, patchouli and amber. This is not a fragrance to garner compliments (since multitudes of people are quite into that, myself being one of the exceptions), it is one you wear for yourself. The comparisons to a rainy day and rain on the concrete and the damp forest are quite apt and the scent is linear. You won't smell a change in pattern due to the limited notes, as this is classic sort of fougere scent. All seasonal scent? My recommendation would be all seasons except the scorching summer. Unisex? Very masculine. Blind buy worthy? non, should be tried out before buying Performance? Longevity is 7 hours and plus, projection is moderate. Price? Reasonable as of now, but EBay warriors will be pushing it up at some point as stocks start to dwindle

I'm trying not to buy full bottles after only wearing something once, but this broke me. It's just absurdly sophisticated and unique. The way the heavy and light notes play off each other is gorgeous. It's simultaneously deeply earthy and airy. I can pick out the individual notes if I concentrate, but I don't think that's the point here; it's more about the way they're blended and the overall profile and mood they come together to create. It verges on indescribable. This is the smell of earth, but not dead earth; it's rich soil teeming with life and hearty white roots. I definitely get the school art room association (though much more refined, obviously) and I didn't know how much nostalgia that scent triggered in me until just now. It's distinctly melancholic. Just do yourself a favor and find some way to sample this, because words are inadequate here. Oh and it's a ridiculously good value, too. It wasn't especially hard to find 100ml bottles in the $50-$60 range, and this can comfortably compete with fragrances that cost 2-3 times that.

After reading rave reviews on NR for him, I decided to order a sample. At first whiff, it is definitely on the heavier side. The notes make it seem simple, but NR for him is complex, unique, and multi-dimensional. The musk is definitely what gives it a heavier feel. I’m surprised there’s no wood note because I definitely get a cedar wood vibe. I also pick up on the floral/patchouli. The note structure is not a typical pyramid; but if it was for me, the musk/patchouli comes first then I get the wood/floral. The true testimony to this fragrance is that it invokes such visual and powerful experiences for people. I had the same experience as reviewers “LushWaves” and “easterncrescent.” I did in fact get the same melancholy feeling from this, but I love it and it’s impossible to not remember this scent. It’s so unique and as others have said, a masterpiece! I’m not sure if it’s discontinued; it doesn’t appear on the Narciso Rodriguez website. But I love it so much I’m ordering a bottle third-party. Highly recommend to give this a try!

Genuinely, this has to be one of the finest dry-downs I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing on my skin. Wow. The opening: A little too flowery/earthy with the violet leaf and patchouli simmering away. It’s akin to sticking your nose against a vase of flowers after they’ve been sitting there a week. Nothing bad, just a reminder you need to chuck the flowers out. Then it changes. The dry down: Incredible. The musk, patchouli, and Amber leave a crisp, clean, and long-lasting aroma, which is divine. The violet leaf is still simmering away, but it’s not on the scale of the Parma-Violets vibe I get with Amouage’s Portrayal. The sweetness is also toned down here. I can see some similarities with AP, but NR blows it out of the water IMO. A far better scent for a quarter of the dollar. You’re left with a fantastic earthy green scent that just seems to go on and on. Office safe. Day or night. Autumn, winter and early spring. I now need to check out Kurkdjian’s other work. He knew exactly what he was doing here. 9.5/10. Just sublime.

Sound: Midnight in a Perfect World by DJ Shadow Descriptor Tag: The dark, wet musk of a bike delivery man walking through an urban street at dusk. *An absolutely beautiful fragrance. It smells like the color of the bottle - that grayish blue. In a way it's a thick, muggy fragrance, but it's sillage begins to dull at about three feet - which is a good thing. The way it extends beyond the wearer is very natural. There's nothing very synthetic or fuzzy on the nose about NR for him. It's a violet musk that can be both warm and cold at the same time. For the price, it's a must-own. It's incredibly unique - I have yet to find anything remotely like it. Note -- I ordered Girl by Pharrell (xCdG) because it was rated as the most similar on here (and because the tester bottle was only $24). I have to say, they're nothing like one another. I do enjoy Girl, but there is a sweetness at the top of Girl and a lightness to it's musk that just does not exist in NR for him. While NR for Him is that Gray/Blue, Girl is Cream/Terracotta.

Database says 2007, but then I surely remember that the ads were still everywhere in 2009. Now that I think of it, it has been so rare and strange that such a conceptual fragrance had such a presence in every department store. Violet, wet concrete, so zeitgeist... and it really takes some time to realize how much tribute it pays to old classics. Like, you watch a Martin Scorsese movie and later listen to him explaining how every single shot was actually a recreation of a scene from forgotten 40's or 50's classics. And you still don't quite believe it. There is surely a bloodline in this obscure masculine violet genre, starting with Grey Flannel, of course. Subdued and poetic, urban, melancholic at times. I imagine a niche brand like Olfactive Studio recreating it as a tribute to a blurry black and white photograph from the Japanese Provoke movement. Imagine streets, trash cans and buildings, nightlife in the suburbs. Found an old bottle with some drops left inside, remembered how irreplaceable this still is.

If a perfume represents a feeling, then Narciso Rodriguez for him is the feeling when you're feeling somber in a rainy day... Smells ultra greenish, yet something about it isn't going to let the fragrance becoming a typical carefree happy green fragrance. I remember the first time I tried this fragrance, and I thought 'what is this dusty smell?'. Some people in this community even compared it to wet dog smell. And to be honest it's a very long journey before I finally appreciate the mood of this fragrance. It's truly an acquired taste, because I'm not sure anybody would fall in love with this fragrance at the first sniff... I bought this perfume around 9 years ago, and I still haven't finished the bottle, simply because I don't want my experience with NR for him to end. Now that I'm moving to niche fragrances, dare I say this perfume is a sheer bang for your bucks. It's a niche high quality with designer price tag. And from what I read, it's discontinued. Which is lamentable (for us)...

This is such an interesting fragrance. With all the reviews referencing the wet concrete smell (happens to be my wife's favorite thing), I thought this would be a ringer for her to smell on me. Disappointment in that regard, in that I get more damp earth than wet concrete, and my wife's reaction to it was "Meh". Aside from the wet concrete disappointment, I truly enjoy this. It is very unique. It is a cool breeze after rain. Airy, crisp, musky, bitter green with a hint of sweetness. This may cool you down when hot, and warm you up when cold. Don't expect it to be a compliment magnet or anything. But I find myself craving to wear it because it is just so interesting and different. It's not that the scent itself is dreamy, but the mystery behind it is. It's weird to me. It's like I don't remember what it truly smells like after I've worn it, so I need to wear it again to try and figure it out. Sorcery. Well done Kurkdjian. Scent: 4/5 Longevity: 4/5 Sillage: 4/5

This has been and has remained one of my most unique smelling fragrances. Let me take a shot at explaining why some people say "wet concrete". One of the predominant notes this fragrance has is violet leaf, not violet. And the other is patchouli. Both of them give this wet leaf paste kind of a feel - like a mulch - but nothing as dull as concrete. It rather feels like the freshness of green leaves covered in rain that are then crushed - the green comes out almost effervescent. And then there's the violet scent profile of that specific leaf that's blended in there. All of this lies on a warm bed of amber and musk. It's beautiful and evokes memories of a rainy day in your balcony holding a warm cup looking out into your garden lush and alive enriched by the condensation. It's like if mehendi was made out of violet leaves. And while I understand the wet sludge / paste component of wet concrete, does any of the above description seem like anything as dull? 10/10

Anecdote, then review: I put on a fragrance every morning. My wife regards my fragrance hobby with mild indifference and hardly notices any of them, sadly. I applied three sprays of NR this morning-she came in the room, made a face and said "what is THAT?" I asked "good, or bad?" she said "different", then walked out, leaving me to ponder the mystery. It DID get a reaction, which means...something. This is not one to sniff directly- it can overload your olfactory senses. It's all about the sillage. For me, it is at its best when sprayed under clothing layers and gently emits from your person. Do not over-apply. Throughout the day, I catch whiffs of this and it is amazing. Not an intimate, cuddling, up-close scent. Sharp, but warm at the same time. It feels like a good fragrance for a young, modern business guy or urban artist-powerful, masculine, and bold, with a hint of sensitivity. A great one for any man to own.

A musky floral fresh fragrance that was a shocker. I got the sample just to get free shipping on my order of other decants and this one was great. Its a real masculine fragrence and I also pick up some green and aquatic notes as it dried down. I think it could be versatile as I wore it today in almost 100 degree weather and it carried very well and I know it will do well in the fall/winter as that slight amber note seems to perform well in those times of year. Its a good office or date night type of frag so if you wanted a jack of all trades bottle and don't have the need for a big collection you could get by with this one bottle. Performance was over 12 hours off of 10 sprays which was the full amount in my decant. The Closest thing this reminds me of was Lalique Encore Sport. Its smells exactly like that, but its slightly muskier and the performance is almost doubled.

I find it amusing how different fragrances are classified as EDT, EDP, Parfum, etc. This is EDT and those are typically weak although this has monster longevity, all day long and can still smell on my shirt a couple days later - just with two sprays. And then I have some Parfums which last a mere couple hours tops. That said this is a linear petrichor/ musky scent and I'm very ok with that. Reminds me a tad of my grandpa's aftershave from the 80's - and I think that's what the designer was going for when creating it. Just a really comfy, curl up in a ball type scent. Just sitting outside on a porch listening to rain and being at peace. I can smell this all day everyday and never get tired of it. What really sucks is this is discontinued. A shame as it's a masterpiece. I was able to get it relatively cheap on ebay but others are fetching a very high price for it.

Totally a blind buy online and saw that Francis Kurkdjian was the nose, what could go wrong. When it arrived I was kinda sceptical as the date of manufacture was 2013 (that’s like 9 years) but when I opened the bottle, I could smell the scent right away. Boy I was taken aback for a moment as I have NEVER smelled something so pleasant. My mother who never liked majority of my perfumes complimented it. Surprisingly for a 9 year old unopened bottle, it could last longer on my skin compared to other EDTs I have. Totally my signature scent right now and since it has been discontinued, I quickly bought the 100ml version to stock up before it becomes obsolete. However, I do think this scent is not something that everyone would like. If you like the smell of rain or fog in a forest, grassy and mossy scent, then this is a total go to!

When I bought this, I didn't like it. After having spoken to people online about it, a few said to wait and give it time, to come back to it once in a while. So that's what I did. I've owned this fragrance for two years now, and I have to say I do like this. There's something uniquely masculine about it. That raw earthyness, with an amber that doesn't turn it sweet or rich in any way. It has a cool, dirt-like feel to it, rather like wading through ferns in a forest, through muddy passages. It's a scent that evokes feelings of a rainy day through the eyes of a camera, and not the paint of an artist. There is something to this fragrance. It took me time to get used to. If you've gotten this and hate it, then I'll give you the same advice: keep it, and give it time. It will grow on you.

Phenomenal fragrance, one of the best designers ever made, but its also hard to describe. The initial blast is pretty musky, not animalic but its pretty musky for sure. Right after that comes green violet leaf with a slight petroleum edge mixed with earty patchouli. Its moody, mysterious, damp and green, but it also has a fresh ozonic kinda feel. The best part is wearing this on a rainy day because it mixes with the damp green outside air, its just wonderful. The newer batches are fresher and more 'petrichor' like, while the older batches are more smoky and patchouli heavy with more of that petroleum smell. Sadly its discontinued and designers arent like this anymore, but im glad to have quite a few backup bottles because ill always have this in my collection. 9,8/10

From the first time I smelt this to today I've pictured a well groomed man who has their shit together lol. I love this scent, it's very strong on the violet and I used to think it had violet flower but only the leaf is declared as a note💜. It has a rainy/petrichor/wet pebble vibe to it that I adore but I think the amber note makes it a little more dense, I wish it was even slightly airier but the ambery touch gives it some weight. Violet, Patchouli and Musk are literally my favorite notes and this mixes these perfectly. This is one of my favorite perfumes ever and I will never understand why they discontinued it when it was as well crafted as it was, with such particular scent profile. Narciso Rodriguez 4 life 🖤

I have a few bottles of this and in my opinion it shouldn't be discontinued, the smell of this is devine!!!!! It smells of a dark spicy musk with slight tones of aquatics and pachouli very well blended. It is a dark masculine scent perfect for men. I get people love mass appeal but this isn't out of the park crazy different, but it definitely isn't mainstream and that is why I love it so much, I have always been complimented when wearing NRFH. I hope they bring it back, and not reformulated because that would be a crime on this one. There's lots of nostalgia attached to it for me. 10/10 this one has always and always will be one of my favorites in my collection.

Oh wow... Just found my 10ml sprayer of this archived in the bottom of my fragrance closet from years ago! I hermetically sealed it in a secondary thick plastic tube because this fragrance is so strong. Taking it out of it's cold storage and sniffing the sprayer...yep...still stupid strong. However, i can appreciate the composition of the fragrance now... At a much more experienced place in my journey. Sad....i wish I'd bought a full bottle of it way back when. Too late for that now at the prices being asked. Ah well...lesson learned Do not be quick to dismiss a fragrance based on your own lack of experience. I am such a fool. = [ Such...a fool....

At breakfast in a first-class hotel It smells like 10 years after all the people there have disappeared in an instant. Salads and soups left untouched in the ruins, refrigerators left closed, ingredients in the kitchen After it has gone beyond decomposition to dryness. The aroma is like a mixture of the smell of dusty ruins. The air has been motionless for a long time, and you step into and cut through the space that contains a certain greenness with moisture. You feel the slightest trace of the people who may have once been there. Beautiful and artistic, but not recommended. This is a film to wear. The memory of someone named Perfume.

Autumn’s here again. It’s raining. The humidity is at 99%. You can almost taste the earth and the bark from the resinous trees. So, it’s only right this masterpiece makes a reappearance. 4 dots - one either side of my neck, one at the back of the neck and one on my chest, and it’s doing its thing. The way this is blended is masterful. The violet and patchouli kick hard with the musk. The amber just adds to the heavenly dry down. It just complements the whole mood of today. I’m sensing 4 sprays may have been a bold move as I head into work on the train. But it’s not about those around me. It’s how a scent makes you feel, right? Right.

Ok now. Ladies and gentlemen THIS IS A PERFUME. This Eau de Toilette bottle is more dominant than all the Eau de Parfum I have. That's ridiculous. This perfume lasts, projects and generally speaking has all that things you can ask for a scent. Come on guys, I had to purchase over 100 bottles to find the ONE that has it all. The scent itself it's not my favorite of all time but it was a really great and nice surprise. I received it today with Rochas L' Homme. Two different worlds. I sprayed both on my wrists. This one is still here in the same time Rochas disappeared 10 mins later.

I love this perfume! Its unique, soft, a bit sweet and pure. Best musk fragrance yet. I think its unisex. The only issue I have with it is the performance. This perfume is discontinued and maybe I have brought old or badly stocked item, but the performance is very weak on me. I have problem with many priblems its maybe again my skin but this is really weak. Even on clothes! Projection is after half hour intimate and it holds 2 hours max. But on the other hand, if i rub my neck after 8 hours, i can detect sweet powdery musk. But still I love it. I try the other 2 flankers too.

@ Regular_dude I tried the Divain clone. I have a 50ml NR and am trying to keep it as long as possible, keeping it for special occasions, or sometimes for personal nostalgic joy..:) As with most clones you would miss the smoothness or gradual transition from the top to the base notes. Its like going directly to the drydown. Scent wise, the drywdown is about 90% of the NR drydown I would say. If you like NR and you want something to scratch that itch,I highly recommend the Divain clone. BTW, the Divain clone is on sale these days!! Eidt: I am not affiliated with Divain!

Narciso For Him (and the other iterations of this line) makes me a little sad. Because it smells sad. It smells like a gray and cold day after receiving bad news. But I love it somehow. It's like: "ok, everything went sideways, now I need something sweet and a cup of coffee". Violet has an ever cold facet that makes me feel a little desolated, but this one gets me to the edge of depression. But, once on the bottom of the situation, the only way is up. So it gets me to the good part of a bad day without living the bad part. I recommend it. Even blindly. 10/10

If there ever were a scent that matched the design of the bottle it would be this one. Grey, cold, mysterious.... I don't QUITE get the wet cement people speak of, more like damp rocks with moss growing on them. This kind of takes me to the early evenings when I lived near the mountains, going for a cool walk through the woods after it rained and getting the whiffs of a nearby stream...Ah yes, those were nice times indeed. This is no crowd pleaser, but it's pleasant enough. It's more of a piece of art for your nose to enjoy...

It is odd how we all can perceive scents differently. I get NONE of the accords that are listed. I can tell you one thing: I love this fragrance. It is something special. Its earthy, ozonic. Not aggressive but its all around you. I got a good 8 hours of projecting longevity. This is what Superman would smell like. Narciso Rodriquez are the exact same bottles used as D&G The One line. So it can match very well if displaying them.. as a bonus.. I guess... This is signature worthy. Blind buy and glad I did. Overall 9/10

Couple of days ago I got my hands on about 30ml, was a bit skeptic reading the reviews, but I was wrong. This is really a masculine masterpiece by MFK... I really really don't understand why it was discountinued, compared to some very bad fragrances in 2022, makes me sad. This is really something, earthy gray smell, but kind of divine, you have a feeling when you put it on like you are flying through clouds, grey ones almost going to rain but no, and a very manly smell as well. I wish I knew about this before.

I found a replacement guys!!! Awesome. Some guy down wrote he found it so I followed and its this scent. Its called Divain nr. 035. I ordered it and its the NR EDT version (they wrongly call it EDP on their site and on the bottle). The scent is the same. Its the best replacement i found so far (better than Cabochard EDP and EDT). Im happy I order more. UPDATE: Its extremly strong! Like really. 2 sprays behind the ears and its there the whole day. Dont overspray cus you suffocate yourself and others!

Why on earth did they discontinue this and disrespect Francis Kurkdjian's masterpiece like that?! They need to bring this beauty back in its original formuIation. It was too ahead of its time maybe that's why. I remember trying it for the first time in 2007 when it first came out. The scent was challenging because I never smelled anything like it before. I grew to admire it. Nothing today even comes close. This may be the best fragrance I've ever tried. I miss it so much.

This fragrance is most definitely unique. I had a YouTuber recommend it to me because of my love for the smell of rainfall. It almost smells like the forest after rain, in my own opinion. I personally didn’t like the opening too much but the dry down is lovely. Id say it is also more for cooler days/nights because for an EDT it’s pretty strong! If you are looking for something VERY different I feel you might be pleased with this one! Very happy to add it to my collection.

This easily makes it in my top 3 designer perfumes from the last 20 years (for my taste!). Why they discontinued this and kept Bleu Noir will forever be a mystery to me. Luckily I saw the writings on the wall and got myself a backup bottle before it was too late. But nothing last forever and at some point that will be gone as well. ANY GOOD CLONES? Divain makes a clone, but I'm hesitant to give it a try. Be a champ and throw me a message if you have any recommendations !

Follow up on my earlier "review"... So I bought the Divain 035 clone. I've been disappointed by many dupes in my time, but this one was exactly what I was hoping for. If I spray my hand and smell it up closely, I can tell the difference, but when it's hanging in the air and I just get a quick whiff, I'd have a hard time telling them apart. Thank you everyone who recommended this. This is what a hobby community is supposed to be like

This one really solidified my love for Violet! A&F first instinct extreme, Dior fahrenheit, you can pick up on slight similarities, and I would say you’ll probobly have to like those to like this, but this one is Great! Go light on sprays, this is intriguing, signature scent worthy, and really versatile imo, but not for high heat. Also, You have to looking for negatives to relate this to wet cement. Its a mans cologne.
