Doza

#1443 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. Master Perfumer Claude Dir has crafted some scents I enjoy: Amouroud "Oud Du Jour" and "Safran Rare", Banana Republic "Dark Cherry & Amber", Bond No. 9 "Lexington Avenue", Zaharoff "SIgnature Tabac" and "Signature Leather Tabac." Also some utter crap no one should ever wear for celebrity brands like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Kim Kardashian. Clearly you don't get to pick and choose in this business. This scent, my first from Narcotica, is a unique combination of some of my favorite notes. It's dissimilar note-wise to anything I have on the shelf, but it's also nothing I feel like I absolutely have to have. At 1443 scents and counting it's getting harder and harder to find something that isn't "same-scent-different-label" from what I already own, but the vibe strikes me the same way as some scents I have given to the more androgynous women I know (and prefer), like Frederic Malle "The Moon", Bond No 9 "Chinatown", Amouage "Journey Woman", Bortnikoff "Victoria." For the men. I think if you like Amouage "Jubilation 40", Dumont "Nitro Intense", Armaf "Bucephalus XI", Comme des Garcons "Copper" or even Creed "Aventus", you'd like this too. The notes are different, but the feel of the scent is similar. If you like any of those fragrances, I think you'd like this. This scent smells great. I'll give it that. Nice oriental, ambery woodiness with a slight fruitiness, without any note being dominant or overpowering (I could wish for more myrrh and incense). Safe for close spaces. No one will dislike this. Lasts all day as a skin scent, sillage was about arm's length for several hours . But this is fairly pricey at $270-300 for 100ml, so definitely try before you buy.

10/10 Holy Grail Amber that instantly puts much of the genre to shame. Dense, rich & opulent, there's a lot going on here & it all comes together to make one truly stunning scent. I can detect all the notes yet they're seamlessly blended & alchemic. Worth noting cypress & incense are pretty big players here, though - Especially compared to what you expect from an amber - so your love/hate of them will likely determine where you end up on Doza. There's enough of both I notice moments when Doza's satisfying my craving for my now-gone bottle of TF Italian Cypress, so yeah - not your typical "amber" by any means. The only other scent I had momentary flashbacks to was Zoologist Bee for its honeyed floral top. If you know & try to imagine those scents together, it's kind of the overall vibe (admittedly with plenty more going on)... Now take what you're imagining & dial the "wow factor" to 11. Like fougeres, ambers are great but get repetitive & sometimes downright boring or disappointing. Not here! I try to keep up with sampling both genres to catch that occasional holy grail release... Well, here ya go! This is one of the best bottles I've come across in over a decade of active sampling & collecting. The quality is obvious & value is solid. Doza's not for everyone & not for the faint of heart for that matter, but I have a feeling you're going to be hearing rave reviews about it for years to come. Credit to Claude Dir; Without a doubt, Doza & Dulce Diablo are two of the best releases of 2022. Full stop.

Narcotica Doza is described as an “amber intense” on the bottle, and a fittingly resinous, spicy, woody, smoky blend that smells like a modernized heavy-hitter men’s signature scent. Notes include pepper, incense, labdanum, tobacco, myrrh, guaiac, and cedar. It’s really a sort of resinous wintery wonderland that is a decided cold-weather, more stereotypically modern masculine turn from, say, a 4-season unisex chypre. I think that anyone could wear this, of course. It’s quite intense, as is subtitle suggests, starting off especially spicy and smoky and predictably giving way to more of the smoothness and vanilla/woods in the dry down, but it frankly almost starts out animalic with a sort of oud/pepper/castoreum-ish blend in the opening minutes, perhaps hour. It reminds me of both classical chypres and fougeres a bit while also being reminiscent of more modern bold styles like Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense, albeit without some of its castoreum-led bite, and Piotr Czarnecki Sensei/Shihan, though without much of its boozy sweetness. It’s really an impressive experience clearly marked by taking some risk but achieving a workable balance (for me) in the process, though I’m sure it’s overwhelming to some. Doza is extrait concentration is sold in US boutiques like Krystal Fragrance, from which I received a sample with a different order, for which it retails at $280 for 100ml. It performs outstandingly, intensely projective and long-lasting. 8 out of 10

Love. It opens up with a tart fruitiness, black currant, woodiness and incense in the back, after few minutes amber shines strong, all the way. Tobacco is not ash scent, it's very gentle hardly noticable. Can't compare to any other ambers I've tried or own, which is great. Picked this up the first week it was launched. Really fire and deep creation. You feel the quality of the oils , complex fragrance. You get the mature work put on to this, no b/s. Performance is excellent, compliments on the first day I wore, and the next day also. Fantastic longevity, as this brand usually does. The only reason people will talk negative about this fragrance, either it's out of their budget, didn't get it for free or simply to put a flaw on the brand and the perfumer. It's shame.. If you truly are into niche and understand olfactory materials and art, just a sniff would be enough. this quality... My holy grail amber!

I don't know why this fragrance is not talked about more than it is! Checks the box of everything people say that they love. Sweet, spicy, sexy, etc. I think the difference is you have to have taste to begin with. This fragrance doesn't belong with someone who thinks Sephora is a high beauty store. Doza is so much more than just an item on the shelf. It is art and has to be appreciated as such. The price isn't cheap and it comes directly from Italy. That aspect needs to be appreciated as well. This is what I wanted Amouage’s King Blue to be and boy o boy is it close! If you added oud, the Fragrance would be identical. I'm actually quite excited because I love that Fragrance but I hate that fecal aspect. These two fragrances are so similar that I cannot go any further without seeing or comparing the two side-by-side.

This smells nothing like BR!! This is boozy, if anything, in the same vein as Angels’ Share but still quite different. The tobacco and black current make it sweet but not cloying, throw in that golden syrupy amber; this thing is chefs kiss!! It’s my favorite amber frag and one of my favorite cold weather scents of all time. I suppose this may lean masculine to those that associate tobacco with masculinity but damn is this good. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks this is divine, I always get told how good I smell by stranger & people I know, when I wear it out. This thing lasts and projects too!

Wow, Amber is Intense, stunning, and delicious. If you are an Amber note lover, this is a paradise for your nose. I'm starting to love this brand more and more and the Perfumer that is constantly creating outside the box. The resinous, sweet amber and incense, along with the sweetness of labdanum, blonde tobacco with a hint of the freshness of black currant and some greens, surround and follow you till the next day.

Doza is boozy, syrupy amber structure which is perfectly blended with combination of tobacco and black current. Very mescaline and very much enjoyable. 10/20 ML will suffice my requirement as I no need to over spray again and again. Its a room filler fragrance. Scent: 9.5/10 Silage: 10/10 [ 5-6 Feet radius] Longevity: 9.5/10 [ 8+ Hrs] Bottle: 7/10 Price: 6/10 [Overpriced]

Doza is a truly sexy perfume on some carnal level. It has a little dirty aspect that makes this so incredibly sexy. To me this is the sexiest perfume that I own. Not a safe blind buy (it does have a dirty aspect to it that may not ware well on some people’s skin) and most certainly not office appropriate. Try Doza when you want to impress and seduce.

Mature Amber lover’s dream. Mouthwatering opening, followed by imperial amber, shadowed by resins with mild smoke. Lots going on here. It changes three time on my skin after the first spray. Seems like I wear multiple perfumes at once. I LOVE it! But this is what the true niche perfumes about. A highly recommended scent!

Amber heaven for me. The sweetness is so balanced with the smoke, incense, and amber that it is an absolute pleasure for the nose. The blending of notes is just perfect. You can detect and smell every note, but they are over-coated with beautiful, soft, but at the same time a beast amber, pure perfection for me.

Only a person who truly understands quality oils will appreciate Doza. I tried a small sample from Lucky Scent and immediately fell in love with it. It is unique, doesn't smell like other amber perfumes, and the smokiness is addictive. Perfect amber perfume for me 10/10

Phenomenal amber perfume! Juicy and rich, Opulent and imperial. Smells VERY expensive, yet for its size and concentration with quality, costs a lot less than other niche brands.

You smell all the notes listed, but you sense it like they are all individually wrapped or covered with delicious and expensive amber. 10/10 Holy Grail Amber for sure!

Very enjoyable. I've had a Narcotica discovery set for some time and I'm finally getting around to trying these samples. I liked Doza a lot off first impressions, but since I smelled it a long time ago it was like discovering it again and it was surprising. Doza opens up very ambery and woody, slightly dry but with some fruitiness from blackcurrant, as well as some vanilla, spice and smoke. More than Sichuan pepper this smells very cumin-like to me, but it contrasts oddly well with the sweetened ambers, and this spiciness is quite apparent (at least to me) for a good two hours or so. Not long after spraying this on my mom complained about it being too sweet and honestly I'm a bit perplexed as I don't think this is that sweet at all, especially compared to other Narcoticas. I don't think the dry down is that interesting as it's extremely similar to Arabians Tonka minus the weird sourness that fragrance develops on my skin, this uses a lot of coumarin. Pretty nice but definitely overpriced, I think $300 is a bit steep for this. This performs kind of strangely so take the following with a grain of salt. I thought projection was moderate but it may have been on the strong side at the very beginning, although this is very far from being a room filler like other people have reported. Sillage is moderate leaning to light but I could still smell myself without much of a problem for a few hours. Longevity is an easy 10+ hours.

I'm currently testing this and it's really nice, especially for cold weather. I couldn't wear this in the heat. It's a dry amber, with a hint of sweetness and the smoke comes out quite a bit on my skin. The longer it's on my skin, the more I like it. My favorite way to wear Doza is on my skin while I wear a cherry fragrance (mostly with Tabbeau's Cherry Saffron) sprayed on my clothes. The scent bubble around me is so good with this combo.

Either I got a decant from an odd batch or my skin chemistry is just different enough to make this swing wild -- Doza is VERY feminine on me; almost all blackcurrant with a slight tobacco and amber undertone. Powerful at first spray but mellows out very quickly. I'm not used to rich scents like these being this quiet, but I appreciate it. Doesn't suit me personality-wise but it's delicious and beautifully made.

im a sucker for amber/vanilla/labdanum/leather scents, and this is no exception. it has a strongggg amber note and complimentary oudy tones, strong incense vibes as well. i’d say it’s unisex but leaning feminine...? edit: nvm, this gets somewhat annoying after a few hours- it just smells sharp, if that makes sense.

Blackcurrant heavy opening and the mid is grape scented incense sticks. The dry down is where it gets a little better, still a little off putting but the smoky vanilla with the amber and myrrh smells like sweet rubber tires.

Top notes upon the very first spray scared me a little. The dry down gets better. It is a very refined scent but personally I would not wear this as to me this is a purely masculine scent.

Very church-y. I like incense, just not on my skin. There's a note on here that just doesn't sit well with me I think it might be the pepper

There is something that reminds of burning hair mixed with amber on my skin. It smells better on paper. Im so glad I got a sample and did not blind buy, I am scrubbing this off, Very disappointed.

This is a very overpowering perfume first of all, and it's not a safe blind buy and you MUST try it on your skin before purchase...looking at the accords and notes I thought for sure this would be wonderful but it truly is hard to describe how differently it reacted with my skin. Screechy, very dry woods, harsh spice from the Sichuan pepper and smoke...the lasting power was good but I would not recommend this fragrance. 2/10 Purchased from Parfums De France

I’m sorry but this was dreadful. It’s not often I rush to the sink to wash off a perfume but this one was an instant scrubber. Underneath the amber was the most unpleasant smoky note I’ve ever encountered (and I love smoke and incense in my fragrances). It pierced my nose and reminded me of burning hair. Not a scent I want on my skin, thank you very much.

Initial blast is mesmerizing. First few seconds I was like “is that red hots cinnamon?” But then comes the barnyard. It’s gotta be the tobacco accord ‘cuz it smells like fresh barnyard cigar tobacco. Dirty and earthy - this may be the burning hair or plastic scent people mention. The funk comes along for the entire ride, but it’s balanced by a spicy sweetness which I like. Imagine eating syrupy pancakes outside on a cattle ranch and you’ll understand this scent. I think you can get a complimentary bottle on Farmersonly.com to enhance your chance for romance. Just enter “Cow Dung Delight” when you sign up. Linear scent after first few minutes. If people say you smell good when wearing this, I can only imagine how awful you smell without it. Don’t believe the hype.

At first spray I found Doza to be simply heavenly but as it dried down all I could smell was an overpowering labdanum that persisted and persisted ad nauseum. I do attribute this to my chemistry and the recurring issue with this note which seems to dominate over all the other beautiful aspects of many fragrances I would have loved had this not occurred. If I could leave Doza just the way it smells at first spray... gorgeous!!

This has to be one of the worst perfumes I have ever smelled in my entire life. Nasty, dirty smoke and nothing else. Like an old church with burned wood with some incense sprinkled on top. Maybe a guy could pull this off but so unpleasant and offensive to my nose, not sure why anyone would want to smell this let alone smell like this. Bought it from scent split so its def authentic.

This is such an addictive fragrance, specially in the drydown. The opening might put some people off as it is quite dirty, not sure if it is the musk used or what it is but after it settles down it turns into a beautiful dark resinous slightly smoky amber. Performance is nuclear too. What a gem. Current favourite.

Oh My stars! Smoke, Labdanum, Amber, Smells Boozy to me, Atleast in the first few min of my wearing!! Where have you been all my life?? I didn’t see when this was released, & have tried others from this house I could do without. But this however, I now know It’s a must own for me!

The amber here is dry, just a bit sweet, but the plasticky smell killed it for me The smoke is not the campfire type. It's just different. Not my cup of tea. All previous reviews love it. It's not the type of amber that satisfy my olfactory senses.

This is APPALLING on my skin, straight up stomach-turning. It’s “animalic” in the sense that this is what I imagine a camel enclosure to smell like before it’s cleaned. Doza is definitely one to try on your own skin.

Smells good but that's as far as I'll go. It reminds me of anka kus this ember because of the cashmere note I can pick up in here. I was looking for the tobacco to shine but this isn't it

I get body odor... probably from cumin... smells like sweaty male groin area to me.. ask me how I know.. I’m a nurse and a wife of 27 years ;)...oh and with a hint of amber

The tobacco, pipe tobacco, comes out more than anything. It’s an awful nasty “perfume”. I don’t know who it’s for.

Incense with a tobacco and amber scent, creamy resinous due to Labdanum and vanilla, green and earthy, moist.
