Absinth

همانطور که از اسم این عطر مشخصه؛ نت غالب در این عطر افسنتین هست. افسنتین گیاهی است علفی که به علت داشتن عطر مخصوص بخودش؛ در نوشیدنی های مختلف از جمله چای مراکشی و نوشیدنی های دیگر کاربرد داره. این گیاه؛ بویی سبز؛ گیاهی؛ کمی تلخ و گزنده داره. در عطر ابسینت گیاه خاراگوش یا افسنتین در کنار گیاه خس خس وجود داره. در واقع این عطر کاملا بویی گیاهی داره و از صمغ و رزین و ادویه جات و بوهای حیوانی خبری نیست. پس انتظار میره که با توجه به ساختار آن؛ برای فصول نسبتا گرم و معتدل سال طراحی شده باشه عطر ابسینت از برند ناسوماتو؛ گیاه افسنطین رو بصورت داستانی تعریف میکنه. به این معنا که شما در این عطر با این نت بصورت تقریبا خطی و تقریبا طولانی مواجه هستید و گویا دارید داستان زندگی افسنتین رو میبویید. شاید بالای 75 درصد نتهای عطر مربوط به افسنتین باشه. افسنتین خودش یه رگه نسبتا گزنده داره که برای اینکه این رگه ی نسبتا گزنده و ناخوش آیند در عطر پوشیده بشه؛ آقای الساندرو گوالتری از گیاه خس خس استفاده کرده. به عقیده ی من نوع گیاه خس خسی هم که استفاده شده از نوع هائیتی هست. لازم میدونم این نکته رو جهت یاد آوری دوستان عرض کنم که وتیور هائیتی؛ که همانطور که از اسمش پیداست در کشور هائیتی کشت میشه؛ که نوعی وتیور هست با ذاتی سبز؛ رقیق و ملایم که وقتی در کنار افسنتین قرار بگیره؛ به کم کردن اون حالت رگه ی گزنده ی افسنتین کمک میکنه. در واقع آقای گوالتری در این عطر از دو ماده کلا استفاده کرده: افسنتین و خس خس. و نت سبز هم ویژگی هست که در افسنتین و خس خس هائیتی هر دو وجود داره.البته هنوز هم با وجود اینکه وتیور کمک کرده تا اون حس گزندگی افسنتین به میزان زیادی کاهش پیدا کنه؛ ولی باز هم در این عطر با یک حس مبهم گزنده یی روبرو هستیم که شاید برای افرادی خیلی مطلوب و خاص باشه و افراد دیگری نیز این حس خاص رو در عطر نپسندند. البته این حس گزنده ی عطر ابسینت با گذشت زمان تعدیل پیدا میکنه؛ بطوریکه بعد از حدود 45 دقیقه؛ خیلی ملایم و به اصطلاح سوهان خورده میشه و اون حسی که بیشتر خودش رو نشون میده؛ حس مرغزار مانند عطر هست که اون رو برای فصل بهار خیلی ایده آل میکنه As the name of this perfume suggests; The dominant note in this perfume is absinthe. Advertised as unisex, the woody tones are very strong and possible above what is normally accepted in feminine perfumery. AGES: 30 and above. RECOMMENDATION: Nasomatto Absinth can be found discounted for about $100 but just 1oz. Its price places it among some of the most expensive fragrances in the market. This fragrance is nice to have but not a must-have. BLIND-BUY: No, sample it first. SIMILAR: Woody accords are common but it is also common to see them mixed with floral, citrus, leather, fruity, and other tones. Nasomatto Absinth mixes only woody and green accords. These are fragrances that have similar compositions but not necessarily smell the same. Amouage Epic Man is spicy, smoky, and woody, a good fragrance; Amouage Memoir is woody, and green, but also adds incense and tobacco, but worth mentioning; Lalique Encre Noire A L'Extreme Men EDP is a great woody, spicy, and earthy fragrance. SUMMARY: A moderate projection, highly aromatic, fresh woody and green (herbaceous/foliage/earthy) fragrance that feels dry, elegant, exotic, high-quality, pure, natural, mature, sharp, and very pleasant.

It just so happens that Absinth is an oldie but goodie for me. I encountered the Nasomatto line way back in 2008, the time that I opened the Pandora's Box of "niche perfume" whilst strolling through Barney's New York. I was struck by their bottles, with their wooden caps and minimal presentation (this was a time when it wasn't necessarily ubiquitous). I found most of what I sampled to be a bit too surly or turgid for my tastes, including the beloved Black Afgano. However, I noticed one named Absinth and since absinthe had become legal in the US for the first time in nearly a hundred years the year prior, I had developed a yen for it. Absinth (and absinthe) propelled me into a full-fledged love for wormwood, lusting after the essential oil, wanting to dose it to the allowable limit in one day composing the most wormwood-y of wormwood fragrances. I wore Absinth during what seemed to be simpler times (they always seem to be in hindsight), spraying some on before hitting indie rock shows by bands like Smog or Low and visiting friends' gallery openings. It's sharp, bitter green slowly smooths out to a woody, sweet, fuzzy dry down—reminding me of warm, dry pine needles and dusty old roots. A soft vetiver rounds out the experience, while the sensation of wormwood, while more subtle than I would like, supported by a fennel/anise, carries through all the way to its traces on my skin. There are lots of memories associated with this one.

Much has been said in the comments here about the elegant floral, grassy, and vetiver notes of this fragrance, which I totally agree with. But there is something else what makes this fargrance so special to me. We used to have a basement in my parents' house (perhaps it's still there, but definitely no longer in use). And we wouldn't use that basement often, but a week or so (sometimes two -- I used to be very impatient at that age) before the New Year's holidays some of us -- usually my dad or myself -- would go down there and take out boxes with various New Year's decoration, Christma tree lamps, etc. Those would be very dusty, earthy, almost moldy boxes with some dirt on them. These boxes, taking them upstairs and unpacking them used to mean something special for me. They would mean the proximity of this beatiful moment. They would mean that I can start a countdown to the New Year's eve, and spend every evening in exciting anticipation. These boxes WERE the New Year. Now that excitement is gone, like for many of us. I don't count days to New Year's eve (nor to any other holiday) any longer, I don't even put up the Christmas tree. But I still lo-o-ove that smell of excitement and anticipation. I love the moldy smell of those boxes and precious memories that these smells evoke. And this is exactly what Absinth smells to me. I give Absinth five stars.

I pretty much agree with the low silage and longevity issues that many note. And that's unfortunate because I really like this! Someone here at Frag noticed I liked L. Lempicka, SL D. Amere, and some other fennel/anise/wormwoods "herbal combos" and recommended this. If that's "your genre" you may really want to try. What I like about it over the LL is that is not "gourmand" though there is in the dry down a bit of gentle sweetness--but not edible exactly and definitely not cloying. Initially it opens bitter, acrid and very wormwood at the top, herbacious and green, but it is not off-putting, cold, or "too weird." There is a warmth at the base grounded by the vetiver which is more "hay-like" here that keeps the scent inviting. It is a very "draw one near" fragrance, and, well, you have to, because it will not leave much of a trail. I find it sophisticated, kinda sexy, and very comforting--and--disconcerting all at once. That may be because even though not listed, I find a "tarragon" note (which is that somewhat "sweetish" herbal quality). This is perfectly unisex to me, even though vetiver in this combination could go "more manly" but this is somehow balanced for either sex. If I every make it through my other bottles of LL and the like, I may pick up a larger sample of this. Happy trying...

I've had my bottle of Absinth for a little over a year, and about half way down. This is probably weird, but I really like the bottle tops, this one is a smooth lovely wood (China White cap is cool, white, porcelain) so it's like getting an invitation to go one step further. China White was my first purchase from this house -- these two make up my "I don't know what I feel like today" scents, and sometimes the added element of touch helps me decide? Maybe. Unlike some of the reviewers, I have had very good longevity; with a light spray on my skin the scent goes strongly for 8 hours, still faint scent at 12 hours on or under clothing. I saw it listed as masculine, but I'm a woman, and find the warm/cool of wormwood very earthy and appealing; notes seem to be shifting around 'just' off my skin all day. Easy office wear with a light hand; more bold for for intimate encounters or situations. Don't tend to wear to any formal events, but do use China White on formal occasions. Just got the 3-oil set as a gift, looking forward to trying the Nudiflora. My one experience with the Narcotic V seems to have left me uncertain due to stronger floral. Always something new to try.

Another masterpiece from the great master.

This is so cool, but beware - I like it, my wife goes straight and automatic nope. Might not be a wife pleaser (oh God that sounds creepy). Even though it opens aromatic green, it's smooth, fresh, and calm in a way. It's not bitter or screechy. The top reminds me of fresh, flat leaf parsley, sweet, green, clean, a bit minty patchouli, and other green aromatics. The base though feels green-woody resinous, there's also some lactonic aspects, too, but this is gone in the drydown. Reminds me of fresh Palo Santo, green resins, and patchouli. There's some earthy aspects, but it's not dirty black soil, it's more of a rooty, clean, spiky highest quality vetiver. It's that kind of earthy tone you get in beetroots. I like it, my wife doesn't. It's a green aromatic, for me it's even office safe. Gonna be best for spring, summer, maybe early autumn. Moderate projection, moderate up to 7h lasting.

The green goblin absinth sitting in it's small square wonderlamp waiting to be released Green, earthy, woody, deep, bittersweet, quite appealing, aromatic, peppery, maybe even a touch gingery, non offensive, quite versatile, fresh and warm at the same time, herbal, uplifting, intoxicating, addictive.. Nasomatto's Absinth smells really natural to me and fortunately not sharp like in for instance fou d'absinthe from l'artisan parfumeur. At times it reminds me a little like a sweet jelly candy stuffed with herbs and vetiver, but also reminds me a soft sweet liquer with some herbs and fresh elements. Performance is quite average but i dont mind that. I even like that. It never bores me because of that. Easy to wear for all situations and seasons, even on hot summer days. Great scent and my favourite from nasomatto at the moment

EDIT: This demon of a fragrance has made me not get enough of it. I could not stop smelling my wood- spicy, herbally sweet scent after maybe 7-8 hours of spraying. Had I been the person smelling me, I would have thought of irresponsible behaviour, as the aim of the fragrance is. Unbelievable. Original comment: Green medicinal-fresh opening of wormwood. I can smell a bit of anice....and maybe patchouli (?) Really pleasant, not offensive, however not what one would anticipate from a green smell. The scent after 1-2 hours is kind of sweet in the end, not sharp, slightly camphor-menthol-y but without the cooling Sensation. Unimpressive sillage, heavy spraying from a 30ml package isnt that intuitive. Projection could be better. I ll try wearing it during summer.

I feel like you really have to appreciate the outdoors and wilderness that alessandro gualtieri impliments into his green frangrances. if not then this fragrance will definitely go above your head. we all have a different interpretation of the smells that we interact with on a daily basis. to me this smells like the definition of "countryside". a very rural open field next to stacks of barley. personally, it reminds me of when i worked at a farm. It's fruity, sweet and warm, it kind of smells like blackberries and a bit of mint. I see all the reviews that are downplaying this fragrance, but like i said you really have to have a certain personality and grow up or surround yourself in a certain enviroment in order to truly appreciate this fragrance.

Smells very green and earthy - reminds me of the way beets smell 🫜 It isn’t an everyday wear, but I would say it smells of spring time when the air is still a bit cool and the ground is damp. I get notes of a vegetable or herb garden right after winter harvest or before a summer seed planting. To me it feels more nocturnal and dark rather than sunny day-time wear. Perfect for standing out at a nice dinner party or swanky cocktail lounge. Ironically, however, I don’t get any boozy vibes from Absinth. It isn’t heavy smelling nor over manufactured either. Seems familiar but unique at the same time. The longer it sits on the skin the more comforting and inviting it gets. Definitely a conversation piece if you want to smell like the good kind of dirty!

I wasn't going to wear this today. But I'm so glad I did! This is what I mean when I say I am looking for true olfactory art. Every time I put Absinth on my body, I am taken on a slightly different trip. Exactly as the brand describes. At first, I thought it was a gimmick. Who can really do that anyway? And after a few days of wearing it, I still felt the same. But slowly something changes. You start to experience the different days in different ways. Culminating in a day like today. Where you are expecting one thing, and you get something different. A better version. It's like magic. Like a reconnection to the Earth. Which I'm sure was the point. Digging through the crates. And finding something priceless.

This is my favorite fragrance. Whatever the individual notes are, I'm sure absinthe is in there somewhere. Absinth is an incredibly smooth, spicy, green scent, that is reminiscent of smokey or spicy grass. It opens very powerfully, only dying down to something more subdued after an hour or so. But I thoroughly enjoy this fragrance, so the initial power of the top notes doesn't bother me. To be quite honest, the scent doesn't really develop over time. It's quite linear on my skin. Again, this isn't a big problem for me because I enjoy it so much. The only negative thing I might have to say is that the longevity of Absinth could be better, considering the quality of the notes that Nasomatto has put into this.

Staggeringly unique. Captured me as soon as it hit my nose. For something that comes out of the blocks so strong, i was expecting slightly more longevity and a better pronounced sillage - that said, they are the only negative's i can attribute to this masterpiece. As far as compliment getters go, this isn't one of them. More of a personal scent. Wormwood notes are prominent, as are vetiver and a 'burnt hay' that seems almost narcotic. There is a sweetness there too, salty caramel, though not until it's well and truly dried down. A personal favourite of mine, ideal for a warm summers day, idling along the beach, sand between toe. Guaranteed to keep you coming back for more.

This is fantastic, and grossly overlooked IMO. It's sweet yet bitter, dry yet moist, gourmand yet herbal. A masterpiece in perfumery, I won't even begin to guess what's in it, that's just part of the mystery. The best Nasomatto has to offer. Unique and personal, almost like an extension of your natural odour. It smells different on everyone. As a reviewer mentioned earlier, perfect for fusion, each 'wearer' will add something to it in an interesting way. It sticks very close to the skin but thats what I like about it. It's mysterious and subtle. Addictive and never ever gets old. A true signature scent. A hidden gem!

Immediately brings me back to the local hippys head shop. I don't know what kind of incense they burned mixed with the faint smell of marijuana and all the sweet smells from assorted paraphernalia, but this is it distilled into a bottle. Wormwood is such a tantalizing note. Where I live, a lot of wild wormwood grows in the summer. As you walk through the tall springs it releases that medicinal green scent, which is perfectly captured here, like fresh leaves pinches between fingers. This is a beautifully green scent with a grounded earthiness. Not sure I want to smell like a head shop everyday though.

I dont have any words to describe this very very unique scent, this really is an amazing scent off my skin, very herbal yet sweet as well, its not a scent you should directly sniff off your skin, you should wave your arm and smell it in the air... wow... On 2 days of wearing this i think i finally cracked what it smells like: it smells like Zahter and has the sweet smell of cannabis. Zahter or za’atar is a culinary herb, used to eat it every morning with olive oil and bread when i was a kid. I just wish it would last more, pretty much a skin scent after about 45 minutes 😐

I have both Naso's and L'Artisan's Absinths. I love them both, but the Naso one is darker and (IMO) a bit more interesting. It has a 'brooding' thing going on about it, as many fo Nasomatto's scents are wont to do. There's more complexity and less sweetness. That said, I enjoy the heck out of both of them. My only gripe on the Naso Absinth - and it's only because I'm SPOILED by their other scents like Hindu Grass and Duro - is that it doesn't quite have the longevity I expect from them. If you're an Absinth fan, do yourself a favor and check this juice out.

Creamy, sweet vetiver and wormwood. I sprayed this on one wrist in Galeries Lafayette then walked to work, and within 3 hours I'd ordered a cheap bottle online. It lacks the OTT fixative stink that makes some Gaultieri fragrances almost unwearable, instead serving delicious Absinth wafts for hours. I don't get the complaints about performance, I'm actually relieved that this doesn't permanently stay on my clothes and choke out a room. I don't get the brand copy for this scent, wanking on about hysteria etc. This is a gentle, polite and smooth fragrance.
