Baraonda

Having finished my journey of Sphinx Fragrances for now, I'm moving on to a niche house that's rather notorious in the fragrance community. Some of the notoriety is good, some of it is bad. One thing is for sure: they are known for their artistic liberties. That house is none other than Nasomatto, and I'm starting my journey with them by reviewing Baraonda. When I looked up "best Nasomatto fragrances", this is one that was pretty regularly mentioned. Hopefully, I picked a good place to start, because I know I'm going to end up in some dark places on this journey. Let's get into it. Scent: The opening is boozy, woody, and floral. The primary notes I get are whiskey, woody notes, rose, and musk mallow. The strongest of the notes are the whiskey and woody notes. The fragrance starts off with an atomic blast of photo-realistic whiskey. I've experienced my fair share of whiskey notes in fragrance, but this definitely takes the cake for the most realistic. It's like they put straight-up whiskey right into the juice. Behind the whiskey are the woody notes. It's non-descript, so it doesn't state exactly what type of woods they are, but it does conjure to mind the aroma of oak barrels, which pairs perfectly with the whiskey to create a barrel-aged whiskey accord. Up next is the rose and musk mallow. The rose, while not the focus, is very noticeable to me in the opening as a delicate floral note. It's a powdery type of rose, as opposed to a sweet, jammy type. Lastly, the musk mallow lingers in the background for an underlying animalic muskiness. The dry down is boozy, woody, and musky. The primary notes I get are whiskey, woody notes, musk, and rose. The strongest of the notes are still the whiskey and woody notes. Both notes are the same from the opening and still carry on that barrel-aged whiskey accord. This is followed by the musk and rose. The musk has emerged in the dry down to provide a noticeable sweet and freshened musky accord. Lastly, the rose is still there in some part with the soft florals from the opening, but it is situated far in the background. There's also an almost smoky quality in the dry down, which I'm led to assume is a result of how the ambroxan interacts with the whiskey and woody notes. Performance: Initial projection is very strong and can easily fill a room. Sillage matches that with a heavy scent trail. After a few hours the projection was largely the same, and the scent trail was a bit lighter but still easily noticeable. At the 7-hour mark the projection had died down to about 3-4 feet and the scent trail was lighter, but still noticeable. The fragrance became a skin scent around the 9-hour mark. When to wear: Baraonda is a fall/winter fragrance best suited for evening wear. It's rich and boozy, so it pairs well with special occasions like date nights, anniversaries, etc. However, it is, in my opinion, too heavy for casual use and too boozy for formal use or office wear. Blind buy: I don't have anything in my collection to adequately compare this to. Givenchy's Gentleman Reserve Privee has a highlighted whiskey note, but the realism and strength of the whiskey in Baraonda is honestly beyond comparison. For this reason, I wouldn't say this is a safe blind buy. However, if the idea of smelling like expensive, barrel-aged whiskey straight from the glass appeals to you, this is definitely one you'd want to try. Final verdict: Baraonda turned out to be a great introduction to the house of Nasomatto. Never before have I ever encountered such a powerful, rich, realistic whiskey note in a fragrance. And that whiskey note, coupled with the woody "oak barrel" notes and the ambroxan to create a smoky effect, was a lesson in masterful blending. The performance was strong, but not quite as strong as I expected from true extrait. Projection and sillage were powerful for the first few hours, and the fragrance lasted around 9 hours altogether before fading away. Again, not bad by any definition, but I've experienced EDP's that last 12 hours, so take that for what it's worth. Versatility is not what this fragrance is made for. It's a special occasion fragrance, through and through, and that's about the only time it will feel appropriate. Likewise, this fragrance (as I imagine most things from Nasomatto are) is not made to be mass-appealing. It's made for fragrance connoisseurs who appreciate artistry in their fragrance. That's not to say Baraonda is challenging, because it isn't. It's just not an easy, casual wear like most fragrances. In conclusion, Baraonda is hands down the best representation I've ever encountered for a boozy scent, and I would go so far as to say it's probably one of the best realistic yet wearable whiskey fragrances you can buy, period. I will be adding a bottle of this to my collection. I might not get a lot of use out of it, but when I want something that will command attention on special occasions, I'll have this to reach for. I have a strong penchant for perfumes and then for whiskeys. So, what could be better than perfumes with a whiskey accord? I have never wanted anything as badly as I wanted to try this. Suppose the rose-oud combination of Middle Eastern oriental perfumes is your obsession. In that case, this fragrance will leave you speechless with its captivating combination of whiskey, which blends harmoniously with touches of rose and amber. Yes, a rose-whiskey combination, you heard it right. Remember that the first time you smell it, you may not immediately detect the aroma of whiskey despite the strong liquor inflection, as happened to me. But over time, I began to associate it and recognize it on the fly more and more. Baraonda opens with a cloud of boozy accord and whiskey, the same one I smell when I pour a drop of whiskey into a tumbler and bring it to my mouth. It is more similar to fruity American bourbons and rye whiskeys than to peaty Scotch and Irish whiskeys. It is so vivid, very identical to the hints of real whiskey. I immediately detect a background of fine oak barrels, with hints of cherry and bourbon, without smoky and earthy inflections of peat. To say that this perfume has an alcoholic accord is an understatement. There is much more and it is much more complex than it may seem. After about half an hour, the alcoholic notes reduce their intensity while continuing to vibrate in the background for the duration of the perfume. And from this initial burst of alcohol, a sweetish floral accord, rose petals, and candied fruit timidly emerges. This transition can be likened to a 'drunken chaos' settling into a more harmonious blend of scents. I seem to recognize a mix of ripe red fruits and apple pulp, not fresh and crunchy, but slowly cooked in the oven, which crumbles to the touch. I am pleasantly surprised and fascinated by the evolution of Baraonda. However, I can't help but observe that the formula is not entirely original; it reminds me of something I have already smelled and that I probably have in my collection. The rose becomes increasingly mellifluous, sweetish, soft, and creamy without ever crossing the threshold separating it from the cloying. The closer the perfume gets to the dry-down, the more the amber, woody, slightly animalic nuances are perceived. The musky accords are the somewhat soapy white musk mixed with the more animalistic one of the ambrette seeds. And precisely, these seeds give the sensation of an ancient book, filling the air with the dry and papery scent of lignin. But on my skin and nose, the sweet and salty facets of ambroxan stand out, with a hint of coumarin or vanilla, which I pleasantly recognize. They are slightly caramelized but far from the burnt ones that we perceive in "Baccarat Rouge 540 (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian". Now the initial pungent notes of the alcoholic whiskey have faded, and are very similar to the woody and aromatic aroma that remains in the now empty glass, with a few drops that cling to the glass before slipping into your mouth, making you savour the last moment of pleasure. As I see it, Baraonda smells of autumnal pleasures, red and yellow foliage, cold and foggy evenings, intimate dinners, and outdoor evening events. It is for those moments when it is important to stand out without appearing. The trail and projection are average after the initial explosion, which refers to the strong initial burst of the alcoholic accord, but the duration is exceptional, especially on fabrics. I would have expected something scary from a brand like Nasomatto, and instead, Baraonda is particular but caressing, cuddly, warm, and sensual without being too irreverent or disruptive. I wrote my opinion based on a bottle I've owned since November 2024.

"You don't spray Baraonda.You uncork it" is what i saw in a Baraonda review on parfumo, and when i finally got the chance to try it, i find it more accurate than ever, this has choosen itself to be my signature scent, and my favourtie whisky fragrance. Imagine you are in a bar at 3 a.m. The kind of place where the lighting is amber and the secrets are cheap. There is a glass in front of you a single malt cask-strength whisky, neat, one ice cube that has already melted into a thin, apologetic puddle. The wood of the counter is sticky with years of spilled drinks.That is the opening of Baraonda, mot the polite sip of wine at a gallery opening, not the crafted cocktail served with a twist of irony. This is the raw, unvarnished smell of whisky, the peated kind, the kind that tastes like burned earth and regret, like a deep cut type of whisky with no reflux used in the distillation process, almost like you are smelling the spirits. It hits you not gently, but with the insistence of a drunk who has something to say and will not be ignored. But here is the strange thing: almost immediately, something else emerges. Rose. Not the dewy, romantic rose of a Valentine's bouquet. This is a dried rose, petals that were once red, now faded to brown, pressed between the pages of a book you haven't opened in years. It is the ghost of something beautiful, still lingering, still fragrant, even as it crumbles. The whisky and the rose should not belong together. One is rough, masculine, unapologetic. The other is delicate, feminine, nostalgic. And yet, in Baraonda, they dance. Boozy, smoky and leathery whisky with an added jammy, old rose note that make the malty quality more realistic and tamed the booziness a bit, you can also notice a dried fruits accord being added, like raspberries and plums. Baraonda passes hours like a long, slow evening. the scent transforms. Not dramatically. Not with theatrical shifts. But like the tide, pulling back to reveal what was always there beneath. A reiseinous, sticky, malty amber base, it's sweet, fruity and oaky, the booziness from the opening is tamed down yet still act as a main character, the rose is jammy, citronic added depth to the overall fragrance.By the dry down, you are no longer in the bar.You are in the aftermath.The glass is empty. The rose has turned to dust. The wood is still warm from your palm. And you are, perhaps for the first time completely, terrifyingly, sober. Baraonda is Italian for "chaos." The chaos of a crowded bar, yes. But also the chaos of wanting. Of desire that has no name and no end. Of nights that blur into mornings, and mornings that forgive nothing. It is, in the end, a fragrance about pleasure. Raw, imperfect, fleeting. And because it is fleeting, it is beautiful. Most fragrances are written. They have a beginning, a middle, an end. You can wear them like a narrative, comfortable in the knowledge of where they will take you. Baraonda is not written. It is improvised. A jazz solo played at midnight in a room thick with smoke. It will not hold your hand. It will not apologize for its roughness. But if you let it, if you stop trying to understand and simply feel,it will carry you somewhere you've never been. The perfomance of this fragrance is also elegant, Baraonda on my skin last about 10 hours, but it never scream loudly, the projection is moderate, not room filling, not cloying, quietly present on your skin. Nasomatto Baraonda may be one of the booziest fragrances; the fragrance opens with a strong and slightly sweet whiskey tone that feels fantastic. The musk and Ambrette have only a light contribution that enhances and sharpens other accords in the fragrance but don’t create a musky accord themselves; the woody tone is soft, aromatic and blends well with the whiskey; the floral tone is faint and it is there just to enhance the overall aroma; finally, the ambroxan boost the projection and makes the blend feel dry. Nasomatto Baraonda is linear, the changes from the opening to the dry-down are close to none. Once Nasomatto Baraonda has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a slightly sweet strong boozy (whiskey) fragrance with some woody notes. The fragrance feels dry, casual, exotic, high-quality, pure, natural, mature, sharp, and very pleasant. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020. WOW RATING: 10/10. Baraonda is possibly the purest, most realistic boozy aromatic fragrance in the market. DISLIKE RATING: 3/10. The boozy notes are strong and could be offensive to some people. UNIQUENESS: 10/10. The purity of its notes makes Nasomatto Baraonda highly unique. MASS APPEAL: 6/10. This is the type of fragrance reserved for connoisseurs looking for uniqueness. PROJECTION: 3/10. Moderate, about three feet around the wearer. SILLAGE: 4/10. Moderate, about four feet behind the wearer. APPLICATION: Two or three atomizations will suffice. LONGEVITY: 4/10. Moderate, it projects well for about four hours then it drops quickly. SEASONS: Winter, fall, spring, colder nights, and climate-controlled environments. OCCASIONS: Outdoor gatherings, casual, clubbing. VERSATILITY: 5/10. This fragrance that fits well casual wear. GENDER: Masculine. Advertised as unisex, the boozy tones are very strong and possible above what is normally accepted in feminine perfumery. AGES: 30 and above. RECOMMENDATION: Nasomatto Baraonda can be found discounted for about $100 but just 1oz. Its price places it among some of the most expensive fragrances in the market. This fragrance is nice to have but not a must-have. BLIND-BUY: No, sample it first. SIMILAR: Boozy fragrances are relatively common. These are fragrances that have similar compositions but not necessarily smell the same. Amouage Sunshine Man EDP brings brandy, orange, and woods, a niche that lacks performance; Bentley for Men Intense EDP features rum, leather, woody, and incense accords, a great bold fragrance; Carolina Herrera CH Prive EDT has fruity, whiskey, and leathery accords, a good scent; Carolina Herrera - 212 VIP contains vodka, ginger, fruits, leather, and woody accords; Kilian Single Malt is a great one featuring whiskey, plum, woods, and vanilla; Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille EDP is a delicious fragrance that contains spices, fruits, rum, and vanilla; Kilian Black Phantom EDP brings rum, chocolate, spices, and delicious coffee; Thierry Mugler - Angel Men Pure Malt is a fantastic one, with whiskey, coffee, vanilla, and fruity accords; Bvlgari Man in Black features boozy, leather, tobacco and spicy accords, a great scent; Azzaro Pour Homme Intense EDP is another superb brandy, vetiver, and tonka fragrance. SUMMARY: A slightly sweet strong boozy (whiskey) fragrance with some woody notes. The fragrance feels dry, elegant, exotic, high-quality, pure, natural, mature, sharp, and very pleasant.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous perfumery. I read a comment on a review of Baraonda in which someone said they held this up next to a glass of Whiskey and couldn’t tell a difference apparently, and went on to say how photorealistic it was. I don’t know why people obsess over the apparent “photorealism” of this scent to Whiskey as it is so much deeper than just smelling like Whiskey. I’m not sure if some influencer said that and people are latching on to that description, but trust me - this is absolutely beautiful and layered. Yes it’s very boozy, but you’re getting spiced rum in the air rather than whiskey in my opinion as there’s a spicy boozy vanilla vibe. Then lovely, heavy, expensive woods beneath the booziness which gives some depth and character to the scent. Then you get very subtle rose working in the background to soften the scent and add elegance. It’s really gorgeous, warm and comforting. Baraonda is signature scent worthy in my opinion. I think it’s one of those scents where if you really appreciate and love it I don’t think you’ll want to smell like anything else (which is sort of how I feel using this current decant alongside 4 other decants - I just can’t get enough of it). The projection and longevity: Today I used 1 spray on my left wrist on a cold, overcast day. First 2 hours good projection. Not a room-filler but moderate/arm’s length projection. Around the 3-hour mark it becomes closer to the skin and at hours 4 to 7 it’s a skin scent. For me it disappears at hour 7. This is by no means a massive performer due to the heavy compounds used, but for the entirety of the 7 hours you’ll be in love with it. While I was wearing it I mostly just did some work from home and then at around hour 4 I was cooking food and as my temperature picked up from being in front of the stove and multitasking it suddenly projected wonderfully again for 30 minutes - I’d be very cautious wearing this in warmer weather and would recommend limiting it to a single spray. In cold weather I’d go 2 sprays maximum. Wow. I’m really in love with this. I’d fully recommend lovers of boozy fragrances to try this one. 10/10 without question.

Amber whiskey night, by the fireplace over a cozy carpet covered in soft pillows of all shapes and forms, made by luxurious fabrics. Baraonda is loud, unapologetic, amazing female fragrance and unique male fragrance. I've smelled it over the years on myself and a dear ( very straight ) friend, and we have caught so many compliments always. Smoky, warm, alive, this fragrance commands the room. It's woody boozy warmth wrapped in intensity, loud and intense yet still poised with a certain class from times behind us. Confident even in silence, the person who wears this attracts attention even without speaking and trasudes confidence but with elegance. Baraonda in italian means loud mess, confusion, chaos, disordered chaos. But it's refined chaos, happy chaos that you throw yourselves at hoping to make the best memories. It's been with me many years and i have not been wearing it daily anymore ( yes i was living vicariously and traveling the world with way too many lovers ) , but it's a piece i will always keep for those special nights, and i suggest anyone to dive into for their Dandy Phase. Alessandro Gualtieri's sillage and projection are always monstrous in a great way. Your lover will smell you on their clothes, pillows, hair and in the thin mist of the air all around them. even after you are gone. And after a long lasting night of love, after a shower, Baraonda will still be there on your wrist, more subtle but very present to remind you of the night. She will take you places and awaken your alter ego, let loose and enjoy the ride !

It was nearly 10 years ago that I first tried this one, I actually remember rushing out and getting a 'Surrender to Chance' order made JUST so I could test this one out! It arrived quickly (I used to get parcels sent to my work -- MAN I used to take the piss with that!), and rushing to try it out. I loved it IMMEDIATELY. I wrote a review of this one (one of the first, as memory serves), and I remember my comment (something along the lines of "this scent is in the same ballpark as Tobacco Oud") got eviscerated on a Facebook perfume page -- ouch. I'm wearing this today, and it reminds me of wearing this at my last (ooops, 'second last', LOL) highschool gig, and my 3D students HATED IT. I got a bit of joy out of the 3 or 4 most vocal girls saying how much they hated it eventually liking it by the end of term, and I sincerely hope they meant it! This one enchanted me more than any of the other Nasomattos, mostly because it broke the house DNA trend and completely surprised me. This plays like something completely different, and there is no real trace back to the Black Afgano / Orto Parisi accord, nor the Blamage / Fantomas / Pardon accord. If the Nasomatto / Orto Parisi line was European languages, Baraonda would be Greek. Or Magyar. Or Albanian. It doesn't fit the house profile AT ALL, and that is such a relief! Boozy ashtray with slight traces of Vanille Absolument (by L'Artisan) and a little bit of a milky/butter accord. I love it. It's such a wonderful scent. Big fan.

Crafted by the "Dali of Perfumery", Baraonda was released in 2016 as an extrait de parfum and has steadily earned its place among the most revered boozy fragrances. In my opinion, it is up there with Xerjoff's Monkey Special and the best among Kilian's repertoire. From the first spray, Baraonda envelops you in a warm haze of honeyed whiskey. This accord is rich and nuanced, more like a fine single malt aged in sherry casks than a shot glass at a bar. As the scent develops, the journey becomes more complex. Fruity nuances (possibly apple or red berries) peek through, adding a subtle sweetness that balances the alcohol. Then the woods: dry, resinous, and slightly smoky. Ambroxan comes in too with a "contemporary", musky sheen, while a rose note adds a floral softness that rounds the composition beautifully... and effectively makes this fragrance 100% unisex. Baraonda finally settles into a warm and woody skin scent with a lingering trace of that initial whiskey warmth. In my opinion, it is surprisingly versatile for such a boozy opening. Performance is excellent for an extrait: moderate projection with impressive longevity. 8 full hours on skin, longer on fabric. Seasonality wise, anytime but Summer. All in all, Baraonda remains a masterclass in balance and atmosphere. It’s a nearly perfect fragrance for those who appreciate unisex fragrances and would certainly impress people who are new to Gualtieri's work.

What a fantastic creation this is. This is photorealistic whiskey. Quite artistic I might add, and a true representation of what niche perfumery really is. I get a sweet booziness with rose... its a nice shot of whiskey, masculine, musky-woodsy smell! May sound gross to some ...However, if you appreciate well blended perfumery thats innovative and artistic please smell this. I happen to weirdly like that whiskey smell. I promise you women will appreciate this scent... I view it more masculine but you can obviously wear what you want of course. It does settle into woodsy rose and some women may like that. Initially its slimy and a bit hard to understand for first 30 seconds haha. After that, to me this is such a beautiful creation. Definitely not for everyone. The Openings a bit harder to understand, maybe thats just me. Love how this thing projects and I also love nasamattos unique take on boozy. This is also pricey I got my 30 ml for $150. Thats what I paid at a discounter which is still expensive considering you only get 30 ml. This fragrance also lacks a bit of wearability and because the opening is weird to my nose I would give this: 9/1 Cheers!

i am in love. Lemme dial it back a lil bit tho... so i turned 17 yesterday (31st of January) and my dad gifted me this fragrance, and it was everything ive ever wanted in a fragrance. Its complex, interesting, cozy, friendly and SO MUCH MORE! Ive been collecting fragrances for well over 3 years at this point. And i can say, that this is by far, the most happy ive been for a fragrance, since i bought Parfums De Marly Sedley 2 summers ago. The whiskey isnt aggressive, its polite. The woods arent overbearing, they are inviting. I am so hyped for this fragrance, that i even considered just for a slight moment, to sell all my other fragrances, and just have 5 (and 2 of them should be Baraonda of course) but lets not get irrational here, because i am a fragrance nerd at heart, and my collecting addiction- I OF COURSE MEAN HOBBY, will never end But overall, this fragrance, is sophisticated, yet cozy at the same time. And this fills me with joy for every sniff. This fragrance, is a 1000000/10 Thank you Alessandro Gualtieri, for making this masterpiece that i now can call my very own.

I need to get a decant of this expeditiously. The whiskey note here is unbelievably photorealistic to my nose, it even smells a bit like the cask where it's aged. Someone told me it smells like you poured a bottle of whiskey on you and it's really accurate, but you won't smell like a drunkard. The saleswoman said it was even edible (drinkable?) but I really doubt it, I passed up on her offer to taste it EDIT: Wore this on skin, the opening is far better than the dry down. The dry down smells like you let the whiskey you poured over yourself air dry, which isn't a bad smell but I'm having a hard time picturing an adequate occasion to wear this. In a sense this smell also reminds me very strongly of the smell of cooked agave at tequila plants (I'm a chem engineer and I visited multiple of them during my studies because we worked alongside them for our class projects). Still, not a bad fragrance in general and I'm still a huge fan, it just turned out to be more of an olfactory experience than something wearable in my opinion.

Nasomatto Baraonda is probably the best alcohol centered fragrance I’ve ever smelled. This is not a fake “boozy” sweetness or some designer idea of whiskey. It genuinely smells like alcohol in a beautiful, niche, wearable way. To me, it gives the image of heated wood or slightly burnt barrel wood that whiskey has soaked into, with this warm sweetness floating nearby, almost like dried fruit or something. What makes it so good is that it does not just smell like a drink. It smells like the whole atmosphere around one: whiskey vapor, warm wood, skin, dark sweetness, and a slightly raw, addictive edge. It changes quickly too, becoming smoother, warmer, and even more interesting as it dries down. If you want a fragrance that smells like a genuine alcohol scent done beautifully, this is perfect. It is not overly sweet, not gimmicky, and not basic at all. It feels alive, unique, and expensive. For me, this is a 10/10. One of the most unique fragrances I’ve ever smelled.

This is definitely one of the sexiest fragrances I tried, this stuff is truly incredible. It does smell a bit like whiskey, but it isn't overwhelming or like straight alcohol. The accord is done to literal perfection, and is so smooth, elegant, slightly masculine, and attractive. It's so much better than I honestly expected, as I'm not a huge fan of the house. When it dries down, the scents meld together and it becomes this combination of sweet, malty, woody, rich, sophistication that's subtle yet has a large personality. Performance is phenomenal and you definitely would get your money's worth for this one. I picture this as the signature scent for a composed, professional, 35-50 year-old man who plays the bassoon in a prestigious orchestra ensemble, walking though wintery city streets in a big wool suit jacket to a high-end lounge where he drinks very expensive liquor. 10/10, envious of the fact that it would be hard for me to really pull off a scent like this.

I first smelled this at the nose shop in Tokyo - I absolutely loved it and thought it was super boozy and traditionally masculine leaning - which was also why I didn't purchase it at the time as I wanted to buy something that would become a scent memory for Japan but it had to be clean, floral and not overwhelming as we were on the train practically daily (little did I know people will move away from you if they get the faintest whiff of anything perfumy anyway). Coming back to this 10 months later I'm questioning my first impressions, I'm not mad about it though and it fully aligns with Nasomatto's ethos of letting the perfume speak for itself. Now that I have it, I get more of the woody floral facets of this scent. Somehow, to me, it also seems completely suitable for a crisp spring day whilst wearing a white linen dress. It’s fully wearable and conceptual at the same time. Not blind buy safe but fully worthy of a try.

One of my favorites I've ever smelled. I cannot stop smelling myself with this stuff. The scent bubble it creates is divine. 12+ hours longevity, mid-weak projection, strong sillage for 4-5 hours. I still catch whiffs until maybe 8, but its a strong skin scent for basically the entire life of the fragrance. It is not a beast but it is intense. The whisky is not quite photo-realistic for me, but the boozy/woody combination supported by vanilla/rose is truly unbelievable. This is undoubtedly masculine leaning but I think if you resonate with the fragrance you can pull it off regardless. I wear this for social situations, especially when I don't want something loud. I can't quite explain why, but I truly love this fragrance. It is one of the few I am looking for a backup bottle for. Just get your nose on this, even if you don't seek out boozy fragrances (I don't).

This is such a gorgeous and well blended perfume. It’s simple, warm and enveloping in just the right way. I’m surprised to see some people saying it leans masculine because to my nose, it’s distinctly unisex. As soon as I sprayed it I got that whiskey note. As someone that always struggles to pick up on individual notes, I didn’t have that problem at all here. It’s a very photorealistic scent that might be off putting for some, but has a lovely cosy quality for me. After a while the immediacy of the whisky dies down into a sweet, musky, woody scent, ever so slightly floral, and beautifully autumnal. It sticks fairly close to the skin, but would leave an intriguing trail behind you. You definitely wouldn’t want to overspray this, it’s better in small doses. I’m very tempted to get a full bottle but I’ll sample it a few more times first.

Absolutely delectable. One of the best things I've ever smelled in my life. Boozy, yes, the first wave hits you with the surprise of just how defined this booziness is. It's so rich, so leathery, woody, creamy, herbal and almost a hint of tropical? I mean this is on the nose Whiskey or Scotch, to me. Now, that first wave of fragrance is just out of this world beautiful for me, makes a full bottle worth a purchase just for the first 15 minutes. But then it doesn't calm down, fade into obscurity or mutate into something else entirely... it mellows into it's musky, amberish notes, maybe some vanilla or something else warm and sweet, it relaxes, kicking its feet up and making itself comfortable on your skin. I have never loved another fragrance from start to finish as much as I love this. Brilliant! 10/10

An amazing, boozy scent that is legendary in a way. I don't really have to say much else. It's great. I love it. But truth be told. It's way too expensive for what it is. If it were 75ml or maybe even 50ml. Ok, still highly expensive but I'd let it slide. But this price for 30ml...... It gets the overpriced mark from me. There are other amazing boozy, realistic frags out there that offer the same similar booze quality for much better value per ml. Unique'E Luxury - Kutay Atkinson's - Pirates Grand Reserve Lubin - Idole Lubin - Korrigan For cheap. Down under, three bangers! French Avenue - Royal Blend Vintage (Extremely Boozy) French Avenue - Royal Blend Bourbon (Extremely Boozy) Bentley - For Man Intense I do love Baraonda. Truly CHERISH it. But put that extra emphasis on cherish..

I love Baraonda and use it almost exclusively for date nights. Baraonda is actually quite simple to describe. Imagine the most realistic whisky note possible, blended with roses, woody notes, and of course the musky signature typical of Alessandro Gualtieri. The result is a wonderful, compliment-getting cocktail. It leans quite oriental in character, with this curious sensation of smelling something mouthwatering while also feeling very dry at the same time. Personally, it’s not my favorite from Nasomatto, mainly because I find it a bit linear compared to others in the line. I tend to prefer Pardon, Duro, Black Afgano, Blamage, and even Sadonaso over it. Still, Baraonda is a fantastic fragrance and undeniably one of the easiest in the collection to wear and enjoy.

not as accurately boozy as described, except for the opening which smells alcoholic, like smelling an open bottle of whiskey. but it quickly settles down with a lightly smoked, almost caramelized, honeyed, slightly syrupy but not cloying note hovering over that whiskey-like note. the drydown reveals a vanillic spine which i find is a common base note to these smoked syrupy boozy kind of fragrances like ambre narguile, which i find similar to this. although from memory, i find ambre narguile to be a bit sweeter. but i still have to compare them side by side to see which one i prefer. although i find this too sweet to be an excellent whiskey fragrance, that smoky syrupy note is definitely irresistable. im just a bit too bored with vanillas at this point though:/

This is a gorgeous and unique scent. It's whiskey for sure, but so beautifully blended with the other notes that to me it doesn't seem boozy, just pleasantly warm and vaguely nostalgic. Perfectly unisex IMO. I just have to vent for a moment, however. I bought a sample of this online. WORST SAMPLE PACKAGING EVER. They've obviously gone for aesthetics over function. So it's like this card with a bubble sticking out. But when you get down to it, the sample itself is pretty much just a blister pack with a spout on it. And once you've cut the spout, there's no way to close it again. Plus it leaked all over and made the ink on the backing smear everywhere. Too bad they didn't apply the same attention to detail to the packaging that they did to the fragrance!

I absolutely love this scent, especially on cool days. I was instantly drawn to Baraonda the moment I first tried it, though I found myself enjoying it less when wearing it in warm and humid weather. But once I wore it again on cooler days and nights—especially during the rainy season—it truly came alive on my skin. The fragrance transforms beautifully, always carrying a gentle waft of wonderful whiskey and wood. It feels like opening a bottle of whiskey, with the scent of the wooden cap blending perfectly with the booze—deeply impressive and satisfying. This is a smooth and captivating fragrance with excellent performance—nothing to complain about. It might be Nasomatto’s most successful creation: distinctive yet very accessible. 9.75/10.

This is a crazy scent, insanely reminiscent of a sweet whiskey, down to a certain wooden cask. It's to the extent that, when driving, I'd get nervous when thinking "what if I get pulled over by that *one* cop for going 75 on 65?" Because wow, if an officer smells this on me when walking up to the window... There will be QUITE the first olfactory impression. "No sir I swear it's just a fragrance!!" LOL Combined with more-than-adequate sillage and duration, your scent trail could simply be misinterpreted as that of someone who has simply been drinking a lot. As a result, I'll be reserving my decant for special "nights in," for the foreseeable future... Or call a cab, because I do love going out for some liquor ;) Love it.

One of the more mass appealing nasomattos! I know Gualtieri and his brands have gotten a lot of attention more so in the past few years than ever, but I feel that is with good reason! My current favorite boozy fragrance in my collection, absolutely gorgeous in my opinion. It's not just a regular "whisky" fragrance too me, it goes further, to me it explores the amazing facets and notes of what truly make a great whisky.... well great. Gorgeous use of rose, (that signature gualtieri musk slightly toned down), and some amazing woodsy/oak barrel notes. It also produces one of the most addictive scent trails in my opinion! While I don't love everything Gualtieri makes, I sure as hell love this! My personal rating: 9.5/10

At first sniff i thought to myself wow this a sexy fragrance but I've probably smelled something sexier. But then i tried to figure out exactly what was sexier and that's how this little sucker got me. This fragrance opens with a crisp, clean musk, seamlessly transitioning into delicate rose notes and a sophisticated blend of whiskey and woods. It offers impressive projection, lasting at least 10 hours, and its longevity is remarkable—lingering on skin and clothing for up to 48 hours. While it's a beautifully crafted scent, the whiskey and rose combination might not appeal to everyone, so testing before purchasing is highly recommended.

This is gorgeous. I wasn’t wearing this too much and recently picked up a bottle of Kutay. This blows it out of the water and makes me appreciate this scent more. It’s smoother, sweeter, more well rounded on the edges. Kutay is in your face wood, whiskey, oud if you were smelling it straight from the barrel. Baraonda is like sipping a whiskey in a dimly lit speakeasy and a beautiful woman sits next to you at the bar and her scent mixes with the scent of your whiskey and smoke. Hints of rose and vanilla with a wood and whiskey backbone. Finished with caramel and musk. Absolute perfection and a must have for whiskey lovers.

I don't like jumping on the niche bandwagon and glaze every "unique" creation by avante garde brands. Some designers hit the nail on the head and some niche brands masquerade their blandness and lack of taste with great marketing. But this bad boy here is truly, truly special. My interpretation of it (since notes are not listed) is a bearded gentleman sipping some fine Johnnie Walker Blue Label, neat. Very dense and woody in the beginning, but dries out in a beautiful airy and musky way. Fantastic. Exceptional perfumery.

This is a beautiful boozy sweat scent with some woods. Starts with straight bourbon and a little woods as it dries the sweetness and rose comes out more and more by the 2 hour mark it’s a beautiful cookie like sweatness with a strong smoother bourbon undertones of rose and woods great projection and good longevity. you don’t have to respray this. This is one of my favorite fragrances ever great pick up if you love sweet boozyness. Just be ready for a mature realistic bourbon and it doesent hold back.

i finally own a full bottle after a year and i could not be happier this is my 3rd review on this fragrance purely because its the perfect fragrance in my eyes. Opens with this addictive honey whiskey that's so elegant and actually last more than 20 minutes than the woods mix with the whiskey making a whiskey barrel scent with this underlying rose. The performance is crazy, fantastic projection and i get about 9-10 hours of longevity. I could not as more from this fragrance

First impression was Whisky, an airy, easy to drink one. A bit smoky, you can definitely feel the wood from the barrel. Then a really charming dark sweet flower note. Caramel or chocolate like. Definitely love at first smell, could buy once I finish my Dior Homme Parfum bottle. I think it's in the same ballpark (dark, powdery fragrances with wood for formal events and dates at night). Final boozynes in the drydown may be the part that may be off putting for me

Absolutely fantastic. I really enjoy this. Whiskey done in such a fabulous way. Woods and whiskey with a slight hint of rose. Fantastic performance. 7+ hours on skin. Almost 9 on clothing. All from a sample. If I bought a second Nasomatto, this may be the one. I have a Pardon sample I plan to try soon. Other possibly in the future. But this is great. I want to save the rest of my sample for colder weather. Not sure I will have the restraint. Really fantastic.

Like everyone said, it smells like whiskey. I feel like you can blind-buy this if you think you’d like to smell like whiskey. It’s so unique and amazing! Edit: The other day I wore this in the morning. Then in the evening I started getting whiffs of another 13 by le labo for some reason. I was like who’s wearing another 13? The scent was coming from me obv. The drydown smells really similar to another 13 bc of those ambroxan and musky notes imo. Interesting!

Smells like an absolute badass, starts super woody and boozy like how I imagine a wooden barrel of whiskey to smell. Then a gorgeous subtlety sweet pink rose emerges and refreshes this and balances it out. Absolutely full bottle worthy a lot of people seem to be put off by the fact it is only a 30 ml bottle but you seriously only need 2-3 sprays max and you’re set for the day it more matters the price per wear than the price per ml

this might be the most complex beutiful fragrance ive ever smelt in my entire life my goodness. This thing is increidble debating buying a back up bottle on my first day owing it. This smells like pulling a giant fresh red rose out of a barrell of whisky somebody dropped an entire gallon of honey in. scent 10/10 complexity 10/10 artistic experience 9/10 wearability 10/10 dry down 9.5/10 overall 9.7

So pretty much. It’s super boozy woody bit sweet idk y and that’s pretty much it. It’s a very unique winter fragrance and I love it. I wouldn’t own it cuz there is a lot of better choices in Nasomatto. But that doesn’t mean I hate it. It’s amazing. If I really really want a boozy fragrance I will go for this but other then that I will not be owning this. But if it’s discontinued I will. 10/10

baraonda to me smells exactly like a perfect whiskey cola: sweet sticky honey and woodsy notes make up for the most realistic whiskey note i’ve ever smelled, making this one of the booziest gourmands i know. really pleasant and inviting, i love how it gets warmer and warmer during the dry down; basically, wearing this will make you smell like a walking cocktail, isn't that amazing? 9/10

I went through my decant but its a barely aged whiskey scent with spiced florals underneath - easy to wear for usually punchy notes and I think its a night scent for the summer and spring months and can be anytime wear during the winter. I've tried a few out of this house and Blamage and Baraonda are my favorites. Duro is also a good one out of the club if you like deeper frags.

If you want to start collecting nasomatto im pretty sure this has to be your first buy. Most easy to wear and appealing of them all, yet nicely refined whiskey woody musky scent. Not overpowering at all but suprisingly very pleasent. Solid performance as well, has good projection for thw first 5 hours then goes to skinscent that lasts 10+. Overall 9/10

In short it smells like a humid whiskey locker for the first 3-4 hours then switches to a musky rose forest and has a little sweetness from amber. 8.5/10. I would only wear this to a professional event or maybe even a party for the winter season. Projection is all you need without choking anyone out, with a good longevity around 6-8 hours

The notes says otherwise, but it smells like boozy dried fruits. Like others have said, it's caramel, honey-like. But not in a gourmand way, far from it. It literally smells like a bowl of dried tropical fruits with scotch poured over it. In a good way off course. This is pure class and intoxicating. My favourite cold weather fragrance.

Got a sample of this and.....W...O...W! Such an elegant realistic whiskey scent with hints of fresheness from the rose. Don't worry you wont smell like an raging alcoholic when you wear this. Its boozey yes, however it makes it so lovely with the added rose and woods. Will 100% buy a full bottle this fall. 10/10

Not sure why everyone is raving about whiskey - to me this is much more of a whiskey based cocktail. Manhattan perhaps? I love this one, but I can see how many don't find it attractive at all. Nasomotto does go out of their way to create a bit of controversy, otherwise there wouldn't be any fun in that brand.

smells like honey liqueur with a hint of rose and wood to mellow it out, really truly fantastic scent - i got it as a sample and want a whole bottle sooooo badly. really good projection and longevity too, 3 sprays had someone at arms length comment on how good it smelt, about 5 hours after i sprayed it. need!

My favorite scent so far. I love the boozy-woody feeling. I absolutely feel this could be an all year fragrance (just dont overspray in the summer). I have tried a couple of dupes (Kutay, The God Father) and even though they are stronger, the scent of Baraonda is the smoothest and richest to my nose.

I personally love this scent. its a nice boozy, woody and rose scent. This is not a safe blindbuy even tho this i one of the most mass-appealing nasomatto fragrance. The longevity and projection is really strong. I think this is a bit overpriced for a 30ml but overall i’d give this an 8,5/10

smells like pure whiskey taken out of a barrel. woody and boozy but in a realistic way, so it can be overwhelming. if there’s something that may put people off about this perfume aside from the intoxicating and harsh whiskey accord then it would be the ambrette, which is very strong. 9/10

Super smooth but also dry wood smell. I went to a distillery recently for a guided tour. We had the chance to smell and taste whisky that we scooped out of the barrels ourselves. Baraonda has that distinct barrel smell. A dry, sweet, sour and almost toasted wood. What a masterpiece.

Lovely fragrance. I have tried TM Pure Malt in the past enjoyed but not as good as Roja Dove Enigma and have Vanilla Diorama both very nice similar and strong. This is special and different as whisky scented. Enjoying the combination with the woods musk.

To me it smells like a more grown up version of Maison-Margiela Jazz club. Also reminds me a bit to Nishane - fan your flames, but way more pleasant/welcoming. I love the dry down. On my skin the floral aspects give it such a nice twist in the dry down.
